Après avoir servi de lieu d’exposition et de vente d’objets d’art tunisiens, la propriété fut rachetée en 1948 par une famille française qui lui donna son appellation actuelle : Dar Said et c’est en 1976 que la demeure changea une dernière fois de propriétaire acquise par la société Majestic Hotels qui entreprit sa réhabilitation. La restauration et le réaménagement des lieux se firent sous la supervision de l’Institut National du Patrimoine, dans l’esprit et les règles de construction qui prévalaient à l’époque de sa construction.
