i’m rereading SGUN just to feel something and
when they were younger darry would say the most outlandish things to convince pony to do something and he would say it in the most sarcastic tone but pony always fell for it. and i think sometimes it slips out during/post book.
(i swear this all connects stick with me)
like in SGUN darry takes the gang to get their mumps and measles shot and pony acts a plump fool bc he’s scary as hell. and afterwards pony’s in a funk and he’s real mad at darry bc his arms aches. darry said something like “it’ll hurt less if you move it” and pony responds “gee darry i didn’t think of that” and in my head the conversation confuses as follows
darry: idk why you’re mad at me, i ain’t the one that stuck you with the needle
pony: you made me get the shot!
darry, a right menace: yeah well, if you didn’t you could’ve got the mumps and died. then the court would arrest me and soda would be alone; do you want soda to be alone ponyboy? do you wanna die??
pony, who does not even know what the mumps are: id die 🧍🏾‍♀️

My outsiders head cannons because idk im bored (warning I’ll prolly misspell things!)
Darry:
1: When he was younger he used to play in the mud with Pony and soda and they would go back into the house and their mom would kick them out and would have to spray them down with a hose
2: (after the book) Darry and pony had gotten into a argument like brothers do and Darry Couldng handle it anymore and broke down in tears in front of both his brothers.
3: he has nightmares sometimes and they cause him to wake up in a panic and he would always have to check up on pony and soda to make sure they were okay
4: idk why some people like make him seem like a Facebook mom who likes minion memes and dad jokes. HES BARELY 20 YEARS OLD. He would probably say the most unfiltered ass shit in a group chat 😭
5: he gets those random urges to like kick or playfully hit pony or soda (I do that 😣)
6: ate rotten food once and work and got sick and his boss had to drive the boy home since he was so sick
7: will probably work himself till he makes himself sick like he Wont stop himself till someone stops him
8: hates seeming like a parent more then a older brother sometimes when the boys need reminders that Darry is still their brother Darry will start a game of tag and all the brothers will run around the house. (When they did that when their parents were alive they knocked down a special vase and they all got whooped)
9 : likes cats. He has a stray cat at work that he shares his lunch with he named it “kitty cat” sooooo creative righttt
10: doesn’t like ham (idk that just randomly appeared in my mind)
Extra: used to bite as a child and gags when those chunks of food in the sink hits his hands
Soda
1: stinks like car oil and pony will not allow him to get into the bed till he showers
2: likes grilled cheeses (me too bro)
3: he once caught Darry having a panic attack and didn’t really know what to do since he’s never really saw his brother like Cry like that so he was awkwardly comforting him😭
4: makes Radom sounds like with his mouth and it’s makes the others tweak
5: gets dates mixed up really easily
6: after Darry slapped pony, soda in a fit of like idk rage punched Darry square in the face.
7: WILL forget to clean under his fingernails.
8: Darry ate his food once and soda ignored him for the rest of the night. Anytime Darry Tried to talk to him soda would give him a snooty face and would cross his arms and say “mhmp”
9: cries when he watches dog movies (like all dogs go to heaven or a dogs purpose or a dogs way home)
10: has the most NASTIEST converse and refuses to clean them
Ponyboy
1: can only cook eggs he cannot cook anything else 😭
2: loves chocolate milk (I think that’s in the book)
3: tried Darry’s coffee once and almost threw up since it was so bitter
4: likes to race Darry since they were both in sports that involved a lot of running
5: stole one of Darry’s old sweatshirts and REFUSES to give it back. He loves that sweatshirt it’s like 2 sizes to big for him
6: (after the book) had a huge growth spurt after the book like it wasn’t even funny😭
7: since Darry and soda are such deep sleepers pony once drew like a “rocketship” and all those other things teenage boys draw he drew it on his brothers faces😣
8: chews his nails
9: has/had a crush on a soc girl and got teased by the gang relentlessly
10: (if it was like modern day idk) he would love headphones/airpods
Dallas
1: got chased by a dog and is forever traumatized from
2: would prolly stink like beer and sweat
3: bro can sleep through a tornado
4: bro prolly has the most greasiest hair
5: bro has a laugh that makes everyone else laugh
6: (before the Curtis parents died) dally finally made Darry sneak out with him and they ended up getting pulled up on by Mr Curtis and they both ended up getting in so much trouble 😭
7: made a your mom joke to the Curtis brothers and ended up getting jumped 😣
8: like those bland ass Cheerios
9: favorite fruit is cherries
10: bro will flip his underwear inside out and backwards since his nasty ass don’t wanna waste the time to wash the clothes
Steve
1: gets mad and when Darry doesn’t make chocolate cake 😣
2: bro will make himself at home at the Curtis house that couch practically as a ass imprint from him
3: likes strawberry shortcake (that’s his favorite dessert)
4: has so much beef with ponyboy they diss eachother anytime they get to
5: bro will HOG the bed if you share it with him
(Sorry his is kinda short 😣)
Two-bit
1: lost his Mickey Mouse shirt in the washer and thought he lost it forever
2: has a younger sister (protective brother)
3: knows how to braid hair
4: tried to recreate Darry’s infamous chocolate cake and he failed miserably 😭
5: he was really mad at Darry when pony ran away. When he found out he said straight in Darry’s face “good brother my ass.”
6: favorite Disney princess is belle (idk why I thought of that)
7: when he’s actually like serious the gang like tenses up a bit
8: knows all the drama from his younger sister he had beef with little kids he’s never even met
His lil sister: “yeah and Shelly and David are dating when she knew David was my crush and I told her too”
Two-bit: “I don’t like Shelly or David 🙄”
Johnny
1: (when the Curtis parents were alive) he once ran to the Curtis house after his father hit him super hard and Mrs Curtis took him in for the night giving him a hot meal and a warm shower and some clean clothes.
2: whenever he needs to crash somewhere he has a designated pallet that he sleeps on in the Curtis house
3: likes m&m popcorn
4: chews the side of his nails
5: can go days without eating
6: bro needs to wash that Jean jacket
(SORRY HIS IS SO SHORT)

any hcs abt soda/darry and how they feel abt PaperCut/Curly ?
YKNOW WHAT I COULD TALK ABOUT THIS FOR A GOOD LONG WHILE IM TOTALLY EXPLAINING THIS ONE I HAVE A LOT TO SAY☝
sodas thoughts on em
i said it before and ill say it again, soda doesnt HATE curly, i truly don’t think he does, it takes a lot to make a guy like soda hate someone, however i don’t think he likes curly either, and that truly ONLY comes from the fact that curlys hanging out w pony. to say soda woukd hate curly feels like a huge mischaracterization that i see in fics and DONT GET ME WRONG its interesting, but it gets to a point where it gets a lillllll boring???? cause ikkk if curly was just some regular greaser who wasn’t close to them, i don’t think he would rlly care much for what he was doing. u gotta remember that he lets pony hang out w DALLAS here and there, and i’m willing to bet that it’s bc he knows pony doesn’t look up to him. but w curly, it’s obvious pony LIKES being around him and look it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that them being around each other is a literal danger, he’s protective of pony as is, to have some HOODLUM!! around pony scares him even more so bc they’re around the same age and pony technically doesn’t have anyone who’s his age so he knows pony’s naturally seeking that out. there’s only so much the gang can rlly do for pony!!
and i will die on the hill that as much as he “slightly doesnt like” curly, he still does care for him!! theres a cap on how little he doesnt bc he knows that at the end of the day, curlys also a troubled kid looking for connections. if things were different, i dont think soda would rlly mind them being together cause he knows they make each other happy, and thats all he could rlly want.
darrys thoughts on em
dare i say,,,i dont think darry would gaf AS MUCH as ppl say
i dont think darry is HOVERING over them wondering what theyre doing 24/7, i say this bc again, they let pony hang w dally sometimes, but then even without dally being there, if he didnt exist, they STILL wouldnt care bc EVERYONE around town acts the way curly does. they dont have the biggest moral high ground bc theyre pretty desensitized to what crimes ppl commit. add on the fact that darry got bills to pay and yea i cant see him putting all his energy into helicopter parenting pony like that.
only time he ever would b like that is around the time he knows the social worker is gonna visit, where darrys more stressed and wants everything to go smoothly, so pony is t taken away from him, i dont think u can rlly blame him for that😭
AND YKNOW WHAT??? i think darry cares more for papercut/curly than soda does partially bc he sees himself in curly (and pony) when he was younger!! carefree, just doing anything they wanted, and yes times have changed, that doesnt mean he wants to keep pony on a tight leash. its usually darry who has to pull soda back and just b like “let it go”, soda cant fathom it and no amount of explaining could rly make him understand, over the years hes just gonna have to see it for himself

I’ve been at a family gathering all day so here are some hcs for a Curtis family gathering
Darry
As the eldest grandchild he was somewhat treated like an adult even before his parents died. But it balanced out by the fact that the entire family worshipped him just for existing. He’s his grandma’s favorite and she makes it VERY obvious.
After his parents died he completely stopped being seen as one of the kids/grandkids. He started helping at the grill and chatting with the other adults. It wasn’t the worst thing over because he was outgrowing a lot of the kids anyways, but it was still SO disorienting for him the first couple times.
Every so often he’ll say something and the whole family will be forced to remember he’s still barely an adult. And then they’ll have to ponder that for a moment and it kinda kills the mood
One time he was offered a beer and reminded everyone he was underage. That one fucked with them for a while.
All the kids beg Darry to pick them up, carry them around, all that stuff. And he definitely does it every time. They get so pissed when he says he’s tired and stops. Like demon screeching ‘NO’
The big thing Darry doesn’t like about the gatherings is that everyone is trying SO hard to avoid mention anything about the Curtis parent’s deaths. To the point that it’s painfully obvious and very uncomfortable for Darry.
There’s this one asshole uncle and one time he started insulting Soda’s intelligence in front of Darry (Soda was outside) and the two almost fought. The uncle got kicked out after that
He makes an absolutely amazing burger (he learned from his dad)
Sodapop
The poor boy isn’t really anyone’s favorite. They all like him but don’t take as much pride in him as his brothers, he’s really overlooked.
The exception to this is uncle on his dad’s side, he sees himself a lot in Soda and dotes on him. They’re super close and the uncle always slips him five dollars to buy himself something nice
The younger kids definitely absolutely adore them. He loves just roughhousing with them and chasing them around the yard. Most of them call him their favorite cousin and it goes straight to his ego.
One of the kids hurts inevitably themselves and cries every time. Soda always will bundle them into his arms and clean them up before he can get in trouble lol. Most of the time only Ponyboy finds out and my boy isn’t a snitch.
One of the kids just goes home with a big scrape and their parents are like ‘where did this come from-‘ but nobody has put two and two together yet
At the first gathering after their parents died he broke down sobbing halfway through. Darry found him crying in their moms old bedroom. They went home after that and it turns out they all had wanted to leave.
For extra spice, the reason he started crying is because a lot of those kids weren’t old enough to understand the concept of death and kept asking him where their aunt and uncle were
Him and Ponyboy will have heavy gossip sessions in their room once they get home. Darry knows about them and will sometimes join if the tea is really hot.
Ponyboy
He’s their pride and joy. He’s so insanely spoiled and gets basically whatever he wants. Once it became clear college wasn’t happening for Darry everybody was all over him.
Being a fourteen year old he does NOT enjoy these gatherings. He usually just either sits in the corner with a book or hangs out with the only other cousin his age.
He sometimes likes watching Soda play with the kids because of how happy he looks. However he himself avoids those kids at all costs.
Back to the gossip sessions, Ponyboy ends up with so much knowledge because everyone assumes he isn’t listening or forgets he’s there. This dude knows everything.
He finds their doting so annoying and is like ‘leave me alone’ (he grows out of this ofc, 14 year olds just kinda suck lol)
When he gets older he joins the adults a lot, still not a fan of the kids

life’s a fight. always has been. you either take the punches or you throw ‘em, and i’ve never been the kind to just sit there and take it. the streets taught me that. new york taught me that.
but for some reason, y/n never needed to fight. she could walk into a room and somehow everything got quieter, calmer. like even the meanest bastard wouldn’t dare cross her. i used to think it was because she was soft, too sweet for her own good. but now i know better. y/n’s tougher than most people i’ve ever met. just in a different way.
the first time i met her, i thought she was a joke.
it was a couple years back. i’d just started hanging around with the curtis boys and their little crew. didn’t trust any of them yet, not really. but they had my back in a fight, and that was good enough.
y/n was sitting on the couch at their place, holding pony’s arm and telling him to quit squirming while she bandaged him up. he’d taken a tumble during a game of football, and the kid was whining like he’d lost a leg or something.
saw two other kids, looked just like her. the younger boy spoke.
❝im so sorry pony! i didn’t mean too, i’ll do anything to make it up to you!❞
i already don’t like him, why are his glasses so big?
pony, one i was familiar with replied.
❝don’t worry ‘bout it charlie, we were just playing around ... ouch! y/n … that hurts.❞
❝you’re fine, pony,❞ she said, her voice calm but firm. ❝just sit still.❞
i leaned against the doorframe, watching her. she didn’t look like she belonged in a place like this — too clean, too pretty, too … good.
❝who’s this?❞ i asked, jerking my chin toward her.
❝that’s y/n,❞ soda said, grinning. ❝she’s like our guardian angel or something.❞
❝angel, huh?❞ i smirked, crossing my arms. ❝doesn’t look like much to me.❞
y/n glanced up then, her eyes meeting mine. they weren’t soft like i expected. there was steel in them, and it threw me off.
❝and you must be dallas,❞ she said, her voice steady. ❝i’ve heard about you.❞
❝yeah? what’d you hear?❞
❝that you’re trouble.❞
i grinned, stepping closer. ❝and you’re not scared?❞
she smiled back, just a little. ❝should i be?❞
i didn’t know what to say to that, so i just shrugged and walked away. but that was the start of it, i guess. the beginning of whatever this thing is between me and her.
y/n’s different from anyone i’ve ever known. most people take one look at me and decide i’m not worth their time. hell, half the time i don’t blame ‘em. i’m a mess, and i know it.
but not y/n. she sees through all the crap, like she’s got some kind of sixth sense for knowing when someone’s not as tough as they act.
there was this one night, a few months after we met. i’d gotten into a fight with some socs down by the tracks. they jumped me, four against one, and i didn’t exactly come out on top. i managed to drag myself to the curtis house, bloodied and bruised, thinking maybe darry could patch me up.
instead, i found y/n sitting on the porch, reading some book i didn’t recognize.
❝what the hell happened to you?❞ she asked, her eyes going wide when she saw me.
❝just a little disagreement,❞ i muttered, trying to brush past her.
but she wasn’t having it. she grabbed my arm, surprisingly strong for someone so dainty, and pulled me inside.
❝sit,❞ she ordered, pointing to the kitchen table.
i thought about arguing, but something in her voice made me shut up and do as she said. she grabbed a towel and some ice, cleaning me up without a word.
❝you’ve got to stop doing this to yourself, dallas,❞ she said after a while, her voice quiet.
❝doing what?❞ i asked, wincing as she dabbed at a cut on my forehead.
❝acting like you don’t matter,❞ she said, her eyes meeting mine. ❝like it doesn’t matter if you get hurt.❞
i didn’t know what to say to that, so i just looked away.
it’s funny. i’ve been through more fights and close calls than i can count, but the only thing that’s ever really scared me is the thought of losing y/n.
i don’t mean that in a romantic way or anything. it’s just … she’s the only person who’s ever made me feel like i’m worth something. like maybe i’m not as screwed up as i think i am.
she’s always there, no matter what. when i screw up, when i push people away, when i do something stupid that lands me in trouble — y/n’s there, not judging, not lecturing. just … there. in a good way.
there was this one time, not too long ago, when things got really bad. i’d been arrested again, and when i got out, i didn’t want to see anyone. i holed up in my crappy little room, trying to pretend the rest of the world didn’t exist.
but y/n didn’t let me. she showed up one afternoon, knocking on the door until i finally let her in.
❝what do you want?❞ i asked, my voice rough.
❝to check on you,❞ she said simply, stepping inside like she owned the place.
she didn’t say much after that, just sat with me, her presence steady and grounding. after a while, i started talking — about new york, about my parents, about all the crap i never tell anyone.
and she listened. she didn’t try to fix me or tell me everything was going to be okay. she just listened, and somehow, that was enough.
y/n’s the kind of person you don’t expect to find in a place like this. she’s too good for it, too good for any of us, really. but she stays anyway, and i don’t think i’ll ever understand why.
all i know is, i’d do anything to protect her.

Asking as the only Paul fan ever (/silly) can I hear,,, more ab your rendition of him.
Of course!
Unfortunately, as I’m sure you know as a fellow Paul diehard, not much is known about him :((
So, here’s my info that I hc him with, and how I see him!!
Appearance: as you’ve seen from my drawings, I hc him with curly blonde hair, a bulky build (little less muscular than Darry!), and green eyes. He has a distinct mole under his right eye! (Our left) and a little tooth gap.
Personality: he’s very loud and outgoing in public, trying to conform to the social standards he believes he is supposed to. In private, he’s quiet and sweet, always joking around and laughing. You can almost always catch him with a smile on his face.
I believe he met Darry in a similar manner that Steve and Soda did. Kindergarten roles around, they’re in the same class, except there’s that distance between them. Darry was by himself because he was a greaser, he was smart for his age, too. Paul sat beside him because he liked his little kid jersey.
They loved talking about football. All day every day at school, they definitely got in trouble a few times for it. I like to think, too, that Darry’s parents didn’t get married until Darry was born. Paul came, and was their flower boy :))
When he was younger—his tooth got knocked out while playing tackle football with his friends! His tooth came back in crooked, so that’s why he has the tooth gap.
Him and Darry would always go to each others houses and watch football on TV (when Darry’s dad wasn’t hogging it)
Paul would hang out with Darry’s friends too, and his brothers. He loved the gang, and enjoyed their company.
Onto the sadder stuff :((
Paul has religious trauma from his dad. Really badly. He loved Darry, but he would never admit it. I hc him as pan, but obviously he says he’s straight.
As the years went on; Paul realized how socially unacceptable their friendship was. He started coming over in secret, only hanging out with him during school hours when they had football, not standing up for him anymore when the other football players would say something about him being a “grease” and a “hoodlum”—it broke Darrel.
The fall out:
One day, later on in their senior year, Paul is hanging out with Darry. They’re at Darry’s house, on his bed just… talking. After a bit of silence, Darry looks over to Paul, a serious expression on his face.
“… I’m not going to college, Paul.”
That… broke Paul. They were supposed to be best friends forever, always together, go through college together, play on the same football team professionally, get the same job—Paul said some hurtful stuff.
“I knew it! You’re just like all of them, all the others-“ What’s do you mean by others Paul?” “Like all the other filthy greasers!”
They fought, Ponyboy and soda broke it up, and Mrs Curtis made Paul leave.
They didn’t talk after that.
Paul went to the Curtis parents funeral. They were like a second set of parents to him. He loved them, but he didn’t let anyone know he was there. He stayed far away in the back. He waited until everyone left to say his condolences. He left a present on the Curtis porch that night as a present for Darry, a sorry for not being there. The Curtis parents died on Darry’s birthday and maybe—just maybe, if he was there?… they’d be ok.
He always felt bad. He was never the same.
As you can see from my art of him, he had some bad habits when he was younger as well.
If you’ve got any further questions, lmk!

Two-Bits Sister Head Canon's
Hello! I've decided to make this into a series because I'm so interested about the girls from the Outsiders so much and I'm so sad we don't get to know to know much more about them. I will link that masterlist here and I'll probably update it once a week. It will be mostly Head Canons and One-Shots of all the different girls.
This is the first installment! It's about Two-Bits sister because that's what won the poll. Bear with me, I don't know what of this is actually canon or not but we're doing our best! More under the cut!
Her name is Susan Eloise Mathews but everyone calls her Susie for short.
She’s in 8th grade. A year younger than Ponyboy in school and age.
Curly red haired with freckles and pale skin.
Susie was made fun of a lot for her red hair in school but she learned to deflect in the same way her brother does. Jokes.
Her sense of humor takes on a more self-deprecating  shape because of this.
Her father abandoning the family also had a big play in the style of jokes and wisecracks she adopts. After he left, she wondered for a long time if it had something to do with her or if it was her fault.
When he left, Susie found out through a note from her mother who had just left for work.. She was sitting on the back porch crying when Two-Bit found her. He just held her and told her everything was going to be okay because she had him.
She believed him but a secret part of her was worried that Two-Bit thought it was her fault that their dad left in the first place.
Susie is the only one who doesn’t call Two-Bit by his nickname consistently. She is always calling him Keith, because that’s what she grew up calling him and she knows it annoys him.
Two-Bit has also made many promises to her to stop drinking because their dad used to drink. He never has kept that promise.
Susie often worries that Two-Bit will end up like her dad, but she never says it.
Susie is also pretty smart in school, she only really gets in trouble for disrupting the class, being a smart-ass, passing notes, and gossiping.
She likes to read. After her dad left, Ponyboy let her borrow a lot of books to try and make her feel better.
Susie talks a lot. She talks very loud and tends to ramble.
Darry has a soft spot for her for some reason, but you know none of the gang would let anything happen to her.
Speaking of which, one time this boy at the drive-in snapped her training bra and Two-Bit and Steve beat him up so bad he couldn’t walk straight for a week.
When Pony and Johnny went to Windrixville, Two-Bit would come home really drunk and crying and that scared her something awful.
She’d never seen Two-Bit so regretful and scared for something. She tried her best to get him out of it and offered to go to Texas with him to search.
She cried after Dally and Johnny's funerals when she was alone. She didn’t cry during it because she didn’t feel like she got to. Two-Bit and Pony were having such a hard time she didn’t want to say anything.
She tried her best to help Two-Bit and even visited Pony a little when he was sick. She brought him some new books and stayed by his bedside for a couple hours.

Before I leave (Ponyboy Curtis x Curly Shepard)
Curly Shepard, a known prostitute around Tulsa. And Ponyboy Curtis, the one who fell for him.
tags: aged-up characters, angst, romance, family issues warnings: smut, prostitution, drug use and pejorative speech word count: 3.7k ao3 link: here A/N: my song suggestion would be anything heartbreaking or tragic by LDR ofc
pics from pinterest
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Sandra Shepard, mother of three children, went missing on a random Sunday evening, Shepards went silent. Darrel Curtis, naturally preoccupied with everyone, just like his younger brother Sodapop, tried talking it out with Tim, forcing him to go to the police.
Three years later, they still didn’t know what happened to her. She was an alcoholic and used to disappear from time to time, so the cops didn’t give it much thought, leaving Tim, Curly, and Angela on their own. They had to survive. Do something to make ends meet. And it wasn’t easy to contribute to the family. Especially for Curly Shepard.
It was another summer without Johnny and Dallas by Ponyboy’s side. A few years flew by, and he found new friends, got accepted to college, and impatiently waited for the next chapter in his life. Nothing was holding him back. Or at least he thought so.
He didn’t remember when he first started seeing Curly downtown, erratically walking with a girl under his arm, but mainly with guys Ponyboy had never seen before. These men sometimes looked to be the same age as Curly, but often they were quite older. He had never seen Curly leave off alone. As Darry used to tell him - whatever that hoodlum had become, it was none of his business. Shepards were trouble. As soon as Angela hit the majority, she got married off to some idiot, and Tim was planning on doing some paperwork to discuss the heritage but was quickly troubled by his mother’s missing status. He could barely afford to live in that house.
Pony didn’t know how to approach his old friend at first. Curly dropped out of school a while ago, even if he had only a year left. And now Pony saw him every day standing by the liquor store, smoking a cigarette, his eyes constantly drifting from left to right, waiting for someone, maybe even anyone. Pony didn’t understand at first what was happening to him. He wanted to come up to Curly and have some kind of small talk, but his legs wouldn’t walk, and his tongue stood still. He never felt anything like that. Never.
Curly didn’t lose his charm over the years. Yes, he seemed a little worn out, but his clothes were always tight and neat, showing off his slim, perfect figure. His curly hair was usually slightly greased, and his teeth were nicely polished. Pony saw them shine from a mile away whenever a stranger passed by, and it always seemed to Pony that Curly was trying hard to impress all of the mystery men. And all of it wasn’t for Ponyboy Curtis.
Curly’s eyes blazed with desire and wildness each time he’d notice Curtis stare at him bluntly, secretly biting his tongue, not daring to come and say hello. He noticed him right away - Shepard learned to read through people too, and Ponyboy surely wasn’t there just to greet him and talk about the good old times. No, Curtis wanted more than that. Curly watched him come out of the library at about six, his school bag hanging from his shoulder, his hair all ruffled, and his shirt halfway unbuttoned. He was growing to be a gorgeous young man, soon going off to college. And Curly would remain standing there, in the corner of the street, waiting for his regulars to show up.
There was something about Curly Shepard that Pony tried hard to figure out but couldn’t.
At first, Pony thought Curly was dealing. Because who didn’t? And then why would he wait for all of these random people? There was no other possible answer for Ponyboy Curtis.
That was until Two-Bit came by on a Saturday evening and started debriefing a few rumors going around the town. Steve Randle sat in the recliner, clearly a bit drunk, and was giving his honest opinion about Angela’s marriage which none of them was invited to.
“She married that dork last week,” Steve finally laid off his beer, keeping his eyes closed for a second, “Shepard didn’t even call Darry. Hell, he probably wasn’t even there.”
“Yeah,” Two-Bit carried on, pinching the hole in his sock, as if he could magically fix it with his touch, “I saw Curly downtown the day Angela was tying the knot. It surely didn’t occur to him at all.”
“Curly Shepard,” Steve stretched out his arms, almost spilling his beer, “That manwhore…”
Pony almost choked on his saliva when he heard it. His body began to tremble, and his cheeks grew slightly pink, and then he knew, he knew it must’ve been true. But he still couldn’t stop waiting until the next day he’d come to the library and see him in the corner of the street. And he couldn’t stop gazing at him. He learned all of the unfamiliar faces, their walk, their gestures. He couldn’t believe it to be true, no, Curly couldn’t have been doing it. Only women did. Not Curly Shepard.
But then it did seem that way. He surely must’ve smelled good, as Ponyboy often imagined it, and wore the freshest clothes. He never had anything else with him, not even a bag, only his jacket in the evenings, where he shoved his masculine hands, protecting them from the cold breeze. Pony was the last one to get out of the library every single time he went there. He got used to seeing the same old lady surveilling the books, and they even ended up forming some kind of friendship. The lady told him about an available summer job, and Pony started seriously considering it. Yes, Pony went to the library even during summer, but less than in spring. At first, it wasn’t for Curly but for school, then for his obsession with English and American literature, but quickly Shepard did become his main intention. He came during the weekdays, but then mostly on Friday and Saturday evenings too.
It was becoming a mania. Pony ran his hands through his hair, adjusted his collar, put on some cologne, and was convinced that Curly was going to come and finally talk to him. They saw each other every single fucking time, but no one made the first step. And that’s what made it so obvious and irremediable - Curly Shepard and Ponyboy Curtis desired to get closer with each other.
Pony wasn’t capable of stopping going to that damned library, on the contrary by the beginning of August he went there almost every day. But then, suddenly, Curly wasn’t in the corner of the street anymore. Pony panicked that day, and went to sit by the window, peeking through the glass, as if was tracking him down. He didn’t come. The next day he wasn’t there either.
It finally happened at the end of August. Something clicked in Pony’s head, something terrible and tormenting and Pony got frightened by one simple thought - what if Curly had left?
What if someone kidnapped him? What if he was found lifeless on the floor? What if Pony would never see him again? What if he lost his chance?
And then Steve and Two-Bit weren’t helping Pony at all. They often talked about Shepards, especially about their money problems. But he never dared to participate in their talk. So one day Ponyboy swallowed all of his pride and decided to ask Darry about them.
“Dar, how is Tim doing?”
“Not that good,” Darry’s lips formed a straight line, “He’s always talking about selling the house these days since he’s the only one living in it. But I don’t think he will.”
Darry continued talking about heritage, how Tim would mostly spend all of the money in a casino the following day he’d sign the papers, and how it was probably impossible anyway, but Pony had no interest in his talk. He wanted to know where Curly lived. Was it right there next to the liquor store? And why wouldn’t he be living with Tim anymore?
When Pony sprinted to the library that same evening, he quickly realized how dear Curly was to him. Their childhood memories reappeared, and Pony could swear that he felt an aching sensation up in his gut. And then he was mad. Angry with Shepard for choosing to live like that. Angry that he saw other men. Disappointed in him.
He intended to address him and give him a piece of his mind. That it was wrong and he shouldn’t have been giving his body away to make a living out of it. Anything, but this.
Curly was there, wearing a white tank top, showing off his broad tanned shoulders, smoking another cigarette, making sure not to stain his clothes. There was a tad of surprise in his dimmed eyes, and he quickly adjusted his posture when he saw Ponyboy running to him.
“Something’s wrong, Curtis?” Curly frowned his eyebrows, scanning Ponyboy from head to toe. Pony just stood there, trying to catch his breath.
“You know,” Curly looked left and right, searching the road, “You shouldn’t be out here so late, all by yourself.”
“You’re here right?” Pony wanted to make a joke out of it but saw that it didn’t please Shepard.
“I am.” Curly mumbled, “And I’m not.”
Pony always wondered about those draining words he had pronounced that evening. And he thought of his lonely eyes, his stolen dim, those eyes that had seen it all.
“You better leave, Curtis,” Curly whispered to him, making a step closer so that his friend could feel his breath on his lips. “You don’t want to be seen by my side.”
“What if I want to?” It took him a lot of courage to say it. He trembled on the inside, but he was being honest with Curly for once. He couldn’t live without it any longer. And the idea of leaving for college frightened him even more.
“I know you do,” Curly’s voice sent shivers down Pony’s spine. It was as if he was in a trance when he followed Shepard to his apartment, his body floated, and his stomach ached as he climbed up the stairs to a sketchy door, waiting for Shepard to put the keys into the lock.
They were in complete darkness when their bodies collided and their tongues twisted in a dance they’d been longing for the past couple of weeks. Pony was no good in any of it, he was still inexperienced and a bit shy, and Curly was the polar opposite, but it didn’t matter that night. Curly stripped down his clothes, ripping the buttons of his shirt, sending them on the floor - another memory Curly would keep for whenever he needed to feel warmth. And Ponyboy was a fool for Shepard, he brushed his hand through his curly hair, hearing a slight moan escape from his lips, and couldn’t help but think about all those times Curly would moan for other men. He suddenly felt his stomach twist and he sat on the bed, his chest filled with sorrow.
“Pony, what’s wrong?” Curly sat beside him, gently pressing his head against his. If only they could stay like that forever.
“You don’t have to keep doing it.”
Curly knew exactly what he meant, so he stayed silent. There was no way to explain to Pony everything he had gone through these couple of years. Pony had two loving brothers, and all Curly had left was a broken family. He managed well to hold his tears and kiss Pony’s neck, his lips trailing down to his naked torso. Pony let go of his thoughts when Curly’s teeth met his skin, and he felt butterflies in his stomach, his cheeks were burning up too. He never felt anything like that before.
The pleasure was unmatched. When Curly dropped to his knees, there was not a single hint of fear or disgust in his eyes. He wanted to do it. Maybe Pony wasn’t a simple client, he was more than that, or at least he believed it each time he’d go back to that sweet memory of Curly’s lips wrapped around his length, his tongue underneath, sliding up and down, making Pony’s soul leave his body.
Curly probably did it all the time anyway, Pony imagined but quickly realized that he couldn’t continue having these kinds of thoughts. He had to relax. He wanted it.
Curly sucked him off pretty well. There was nothing special about giving another blowjob to someone, but he did enjoy it with Ponyboy. He always liked him when they were still friends, Pony was handsome, shy, and a bit weird from time to time, but Curly could never call him lame or boring, no, he always respected him. And now being able to kiss his lips, feel him, was a real treat for Curly Shepard. Because he longed for it for all these past months.
That’s what made it so sweet. They waited a long time before doing it, almost like a normal teenage couple, almost as if they just recently got married. But the reality was different. Curly was prostituting himself. Giving his body to all kinds of men. And he deeply despised it.
Curly wanted to take Pony so hard, that he abruptly stopped the pleasure he was giving him, and got back near Pony’s face to kiss him. Pony was so gentle. He was still a virgin, but even if he wouldn’t be one, Ponyboy Curtis had always been a good person. He could never hurt Curly Shepard.
Pony was ready to get laid with him. When Curly helped him undress and pulled his jeans off completely, Pony understood that he was the one who was about to lose his virginity. He didn’t mind because he had never given it much thought. But no, it wasn’t true. Pony thought about sex all the time. It’s just that he has nobody to talk to it about, but he genuinely wanted Curly to fuck him.
Shepard needed it too. Sex had become a horrid duty to him, and he wanted to finally feel like himself again. He kissed Pony’s neck and left there a hickey, a small violet spot that would remind him of their time together.
When Ponyboy lay on the bed, getting ready to be penetrated for the first time, he saw that Curly kept a lot of pills on his nightstand. Pony was no fool, he understood quickly that Curly ended up doing drugs like most of the Greasers around town. Pony closed his eyes, imagining what it could’ve been like for Curly if he had at least some kind of support in his life. Would it be different if Tim and Angela cared for him? Of course, it would.
Curly’s kisses slowly made Pony’s thoughts disappear. Curtis was already very relaxed down there since he had been discovering his body for a some time. That is why when Curly lubed the area and fingered him, it wasn’t painful at all. Pony moaned, living the best experience he thought he ever had in his life.
Curly, on the other hand, had swallowed a few pills before he’d get his hands on Pony’s body just in case he couldn’t feel like himself. It was a part of his routine. When his mind was finally free, he entered Ponyboy and gave him what he wanted - his first time. Curly still remembered the first time he experienced it, but decided not to visualize the scene again, because it reminded him of the simpler times when he was still living with his siblings and used to go to school, had some money in his pocket that he’d waste on anything he wanted, and not fuck with guys just to have a roof under his head.
Pony turned him on. Curly grabbed his waist when they switched positions and fucked him so hard, almost forgetting that Ponyboy was still new to it all. Curtis came, and when Curly saw the liquid splurge all over his bedsheets, he came too, inside Ponyboy. Curtis was in a euphoric, but also tired state for a few minutes, and when he finally opened his eyes, Curly was long gone to the bathroom, where he spent at least twenty minutes under the cold water, cleaning himself up.
Pony got pretty nervous, blaming himself for everything they had done. Maybe they shouldn’t have. Maybe Curly didn’t enjoy sex any longer, maybe Ponyboy only reminded him once again of his job. Biting his lip, he got up from the bed and went to check on him. But Curly seemed fine. He still had a wicked smile on his face when Pony entered the bathroom. And Pony concluded that maybe Curly had enjoyed it, at least a little bit.
Pony stayed to spend the night with him, almost forgetting that he had to leave the next day. And he felt horribly bad for seeing the reality in which Curly had lived, a small apartment, pills everywhere, dirty clothes, broken window…
“Curly,” Pony cleared his throat, looking him in the eyes. It was dark and he could barely see his pupils, “Why aren’t you living at your house anymore?”
“This is my place now,” Curly’s lips formed a straight line, “I just wanted to be independent. Wanted to show my siblings that I didn’t have to sell or marry someone to get somewhere in life. But look at me now, I’m getting evicted next week. And Tim told me the house won’t be ours anymore.”
Pony couldn’t even imagine Curly going homeless even for a day. Angela got married off to someone so she could have a home. And Tim, well, they didn’t know what he had become, probably rented a room somewhere or lived with a friend. Curly was all alone. Pony wanted to suggest something, at least anything, but he quickly ran out of options. Their family bond was broken. It was nothing like with Soda and Darry. They could never let him live on the street all by himself.
Pony had a sudden urge to tell him how dear he was to him. He forgot about the awkwardness, swallowed his shyness, and began to speak, “Curly, I…”
But Shepard saw it in his eyes right before he’d say it. His eyes gave it all away, but he didn’t believe them. He didn’t want Pony to say things he’d later regret, or say them out of pity, or worse - because Curly was his first time. And there was no such feeling of love for Curly Shepard. Everyone eventually left. And Pony would too.
“This could never work out. You are better off without me, I promise you, Ponyboy,” Curly mumbled, his eyes closing, his body drifting off to sleep.
Ponyboy didn’t cry. He wanted to, but the tears never came. He was so flabbergasted and inspired by what he had experienced that all he wanted to do was scream it to the world, but there was nothing to be so surprised about. He had just slept with someone who was having sex with multiple men all year long. Nothing seemed to make this time more special than the rest.
But it was. To Pony it was everything. Curly was everything. The way he took him so gently and made love to him, even if usually it was a dreading job.
Ponyboy was grateful.
Curly’s future was Pony’s last thought before he drifted off to sleep. All these pills, random men… Everyone knew where it could end.
Pony tossed and turned in his sleep, not being able to let go of his intrusive thoughts about Curly leaving this world. He had another nightmare, but this time it wasn’t about his parents, it was about Curly. In his dream, he had become a junkie. His face was pale, and his perfect teeth had gaps in them, just like the skin of his arms.
Pony glanced at Curly the second he had opened his eyes. No, he was alright. He was alive and breathing, he was young and careless, the same Curly he always knew. And he loved him for it.
It struck him like lightning. Curly wasn’t going anywhere. He was going to stay, stay the same, stay here in this horrid place, with these worthless men, and Ponyboy would leave to build his future, leave Curly alone.
Even if Shepard didn’t allow him to pronounce the big word starting with the letter “L”, Pony couldn’t have left without him knowing. He took a piece of paper on Curly’s desk and began writing.
When Curly woke up in the morning, he couldn’t remember what had happened the night before. He stood up, stretched his arms, and went to brush his teeth. But before he could reach the bathroom, he glanced at the desk. He grinned, taking the paper in his hands. His smile disappeared.
"Dear Curly,
Sometimes I hate myself for not coming to talk to you sooner. I have to get back home early in the morning because I have to finish packing for college and say goodbye to my brothers. I still can’t forget the words you told me, that you’re always going to be here, but someday you won't,”
Curly took his eyes off the paper for a moment, trying to recall him saying it.
“This is for you, Curly before I leave.”
Curly lifted the paper and saw an envelope stuffed with paper bills. He couldn’t believe his eyes. His hands started to shake as he flicked them. The sum in his head rounded up to another month of rent.
He smiled, cursing himself for having Pony’s money. Of course, if it was another man paying that much he wouldn’t mind. But it was Ponyboy Curtis and he was genuine. There was a paper that came with it, and Curly suddenly realized that it was Ponyboy’s salary.
He must have been working in the library all summer long. But it wasn’t to pay himself a whore. Pony sincerely wanted to help. This was different. Pony could never leave knowing that Curly was going to be homeless in a few days.
Curly’s eyes shifted back to the letter and then to the clock above the bed. It was too late now to catch him and give him back the money. But he needed it. He really did.
Shepard felt a tear slip down his cheek as he read the postscript.
"Please wait for me,
Ponyboy Curtis."
hope you enjoyed! if you want to leave a comment on ao3 here’s the link, thank you <3

based on the latest post, how if little Soda & dally got in trouble when they were alone, a punishment would be not getting to help/cuddle Pony&Johnny, what would happen if Pony or Johnny were asking for one of them, or like needed to be comforted? (also have you seen the end of wild life yet/know the winner?)
-❄️
I'm not quite sure how the caregivers would handle that. There's not much that Pony would want Soda for, unless he was younger than usual and just really wanted his big brother, and Johnny is usually content with playing with Pony when Dally was also regressed.
I think Darry and Two-Bit are both pretty good at being 'substitutes' when Pony and Johnny are insistent on seeing Soda or Dally, however if it's bad enough; like a nightmare or one of the two are sick or just something that's definitely major they would revoke the punishment or continue it after the littles are taken care of.
It's Soda and Dally's punishment, not Pony and Johnny's. And the caregivers are always good at just knowing when to change the punishment. I'm very much struggling to think of punishments and rewards and stuff for the littles and caregivers and such.
(Yes! I saw the same day the videos came out! One of my mutuals was so excited because they absolutely love the winner!)

Hi !! I just wanna say I love your wrighting and was wondering if you could do hcs for being Dallas Winston's sibling?
Thx you and have an amazing week 💕
ofc! hope you like it!
Dallas Winston x Reader/Younger Sibling hc's
Tumblr media
(Set in an AU where he DOESN'T DIE)
You are three years younger than Dally
You grew up in the same house as Dally for most of your life
Even as a little kid he was still reckless and careless
When you were 6 and he was 9 your mom died and so your dad moved your family up to New York
In New York, Dally was never around, he was always out causing trouble and eventually he got arrested
You wished he were home because to tell the truth, you liked having him around
Despite his cold, hard exterior he always showed you how much he appreciated you as his younger sibling
He did distance himself from you over time though, but only because he didn't want you joining into his activities and getting hurt
After a few years of living in New York, he told you his plans to run away, back to Tulsa
You insisted on going with him but he wouldn't have it
One night he left without warning
You spent months wishing he would come back but he never did
You eventually ran away to Tulsa to find him
After arriving in Tulsa you searched for him for weeks
You finally found him one day at the DX
He was thrilled to see you but he was also concerned that he wouldn't be able to take care of you and give you everything you needed
He worked things out though, the two of you ended up living in Buck Merill's spare bedroom
You hang out with the gang sometimes
You're pretty good friends with Two-Bit, Ponyboy, and Sodapop
Steve hates you
Darry never really talks to you
Johnny doesn't talk to you much either but he respects you since you're his best friend's younger sibling
Dally always keeps an eye out for you when you're doing anything; he just wants to keep you safe
If he even sees a soc, the first thing he does is step in front of you
You're never allowed to fight in a rumble because he just wants to protect you from getting hurt
Overall, you're glad you came to Tulsa to find him
He won't admit it, but he's glad you came too

Cynthia's character page :)
Tumblr media
Welp, here it is y'all. Cynthia's very large amount of information! Since she isn't a part of any fanfic so I can ramble for a while! It is organized in sections, so skip through stuff you don't care about! I hope the characters mentioned are in character!
Who is she?
Cynthia is a 17 year old, middle class teenager who lives on the top of her family’s soda fountain in Tulsa, OK. She has shoulder-length dark, curly hair and dark brown eyes, as well as skin on the tanner side. Around 5’7 ½ . She is a part of the group of families who are just between being a soc and greaser. Not as rich and emotionless as a soc and not as poor or wild as a greaser. But she mainly chooses to hang out with the greasers. She is very hard-working, her and her brother mainly running the soda fountain and can be quite stubborn. But she is also very caring, always letting greasers come in and helping patch them up if they’ve just been jumped. She does still go to school, she is quite good at math but other than that she’s pretty average. Some other character traits of her or little facts:
She can be extremely brutally honest. Like she can’t help herself but point out the negatives if you ask her. Which many can take offense to.
She has really good comebacks, mainly because she doesn’t exactly think before she speaks. It's good for rude people! But has gotten her into some trouble before…
Teacher: Now with those grades you have…Don’t expect to be able to join any sports, not that you had a chance anyways.
Cynthia: With that hairline, don’t expect to be able to get anyone to marry you. Not that you had a chance anyways.
She doesn’t hold any hatred for most socs, but she dislikes the ones who go looking to pick on greasers. Which means she also dislikes the greasers who jump random people.
She just matches the vibe of whoever she’s hanging out with, but since she hangs out a lot with greasers she can take on more of their traits
Her dream is to be an actress, this is because her mother and her used to go watch movies together as their girls thing and now deep down she wonders if she’ll get her mother’s attention again.
Since she has worked at the aforementioned ranch, she has a plethora of strength that she likes to show off.
Cynthia can be very observant without really realizing it. It’s how she knows so much about a lot of her friends (the gang) or family members. Just by catching little details and remembering them whenever needed.
Her closest family
Cynthia’s parents are ok people. Her dad mainly works at the family ranch that her grandparents’ own and her mother helps out with organizing the rodeo events they host. Her mother occasionally comes to help out at the soda fountain but Cynthia and her brother end up left to their own devices most of the time. Since both are almost adults anyways they’re ok with being alone a lot. (But it’s more on the unhealthy side how much they are with their parents since they just don’t come home like half the week. Cynthia blames it on their jobs taking over.) When they were younger, their parents raised them in a laid back manner. But certain things they definitely drilled into their heads. They would remind them about these rules very randomly. Like I’m talking:
*At the dinner table*
“Cynthia?”
“Yeah, mama?”
“I need you to remember this.” “...Ok?”
“Wait till marriage for the following things. 1#-”
Joey has let go of a lot of the rules he doesn’t like or just forgot them. Cynthia has held onto those rules more. (Probably because she wants the attention from her parents that she has listened to them just like they asked her to do.)
Joey is Cynthia’s older brother who is 19. He is a lot like Darry, but more like if everything went right for him. He acts a bit more like a soc but always helps out the greasers when he can. He got a scholarship from football but he enjoys baseball a lot more. He could win a Paul Newman look-alike contest (when Pony first met him he took a double take). With his literal movie star looks, girls have tried flirting with him at the fountain. But he is honestly really passive aggressive about the fact he has a girlfriend who he loves very much and her name is Roxie and did he mention he loves her very much? He is overall a very kind person who can also be very protective with Cynthia. (Especially with a certain hood *cough cough* Dallas Tucker Winston *Cough Cough*) Though he is still pretty young, he is usually the voice of reason in a lot of situations. He is a bit bitter that he can't really leave for college yet because of the soda fountain and Cynthia can't be left alone. But he's seen people like Darry so he's more at peace with it. He is the best bros with Angel's older brother Todd. (@ollenotter27 other OC)
Their cousins Rosemary and Tessa also basically live with them at this point. Rosemary is a 21 year old hairstylist with her own salon. She is extremely independent and a big fighter for women’s rights. She enjoys different arts and crafts but especially crocheting and knitting. She has also become a pretty good friend to the greasers and can be very mom-like to them all and with that become great friends with Darry. She helps him out a lot even if he insists that he doesn’t need it but he does really appreciate it. She’s also just there for him to have someone to talk to that is his age. Sodapop and Pony definitely think they should be dating.
Tessa is Rosemary’s younger sister at about 14 years old (and a half). She is extremely outgoing and sassy whenever she’s comfortable. She really enjoys hanging out with the greasers (especially Pony and Johnny) but is terrified of Dally. If there's anything Rosemary has taught her, it’s that you shouldn’t let the enemy know she’s scared. So Dally just believes at this point she’s a very rude person. Rosemary has also taught her how to do great hairstyles and how to fight. Rosemary is her main caretaker after their father left and their mother was just not mentally ok enough to take care of them. Rosemary initially didn’t want Tessa to have to constantly sleep in the salon so she would send her over to Cynthia and Joey. She grew up not being able to lean on others, leading to her being extremely independent and that was why she didn’t stay with them at first. But she was eventually won over.
(If y'all want to know anymore about the details of these goobers let me know :)
Her friendship with the canon characters
Ponyboy- She has noticed that he (and Johnny) can be very quiet so she tries to talk to him about his interests and just lets him ramble about all sorts of different things. So a lot of times he can be found after school drinking a Pepsi and talking about the newest movies while Cynthia cleans the dishes.
Sodapop- Soda is her best friend out of anyone in the gang (besides her boyfriend) and they hang out when they’re not working. They both have the understanding of having a more undecided future and also love for horses. She is one of the few who have actually heard about his insecurities, one of the few to know that he isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. She also has a dislike for Sandy (not in a jealousy way) because she doesn’t trust her. She just feels something off about her and how Soda seems to be the one to care a lot more. But she never says anything. At some point Soda talks about Mickey Mouse (the horse). After hearing some about Mickey Mouse, she realizes that her grandparents recently bought a horse that used to do rodeos and stuff and gets Soda to tell her what he looked like. She makes the connections and takes Soda to see him. He most definitely just fell to his knees when he saw him and it recognized him.
Darry- She likes him enough as a person. But she hasn’t really gotten to know him since he is working so much. She feels bad for him, especially knowing that he is friends with her brother, who is basically him if his life went the expected way. She knows most about him from Rosemary and is also a Rosedarry shipper.
Johnny- Like with Pony, she noticed that he was extremely quiet. But she also realized that it is more towards the point that she can’t get an answer out of him. She decided to leave him be and let him reach out if he really wanted to. But they ended up becoming friends of sorts when he learned that she just says what comes to mind and she learned that he can say some more rude things after picking it up from Dally. So their main thing is just people watching and judging. (Some people may see that as ooc but I’ve seen a lot of headcanons that Johnny has picked up traits like that from Dally so…)
Steve-She’s not exactly good friends with him. She has hung out with him and Soda before so they have done some chaotic stuff together. But it’s more the kind of trio where two of the people don’t really like each other, they just happen to both be besties with the one. But she does trust him and knows a good amount about him.
Two-Bit- She likes him a good amount. She wouldn’t exactly hang out with him alone but she thinks he’s a fun person. She learned about his younger sister and offers to help out with her when she can and he appreciates that. So in general, they’re nice to each other and everything but not besties.
Cherry- Cherry has come to the fountain with her friends several times so they are acquaintances. They’ve also seen each other at school or at Rosemary's salon. So they’ve had a couple chats but not much more than that.
Non-Canon Characters
Angel- (Angel is a soc oc created by @ollenotter27 :) They are both great at roasting other people and Angel has bruised Dally’s ego several times. So they sort of teeter on the friend and enemy line. Though once she starts dating Sodapop, they become better friends.
Dally will be covered in the relationship post! I promise y’all I’m not basic, I just like their dynamic

Tim x Darry headconnons plz (like if they can get married or what is it like if they have an adopted child) SORRY TO ASK SO MUCH I just love this ship and its really my favorite one
THANK YOU🙏🏻
Omg tarry is my favorite pairing, I have made these little ship headcanons as well (tarry hcs)
BUT onto these ones
They mostly bond over being both the leaders of their respective gangs and over taking care of their younger siblings ❤️
They are terrible with emotions, communication between them is like pulling teeth 😭
They also have a hard time with each others siblings. Darry CANT STAND curly and is scared of Angela. Tim gets along with both pony and soda but anytime he gets them into trouble darry gets mad at him.
He’s really rather not piss his beau off
They’ve known each other since they were kids (thanks to living in the same area) but were never friends. It was only really after Darry got more involved in greaser stuff that they got along lol
Tim can’t cook for shit. He tries but it sucks so bad. Darry keeps trying to help him but Tim is unhelpable.
Darry is aware that Tim can handle himself, but still gets protective when ppl talk about him. Tim gets mad every time (but also does the same thing)
And omg I’m all the way into this list realizing that I did not answer the other part of the question so I’ll do that now
So for marriage (not legal for homos in the 60s sadly, so I’m sure it’s just a celebration among friends and family) it probably takes them awhile. I can’t imagine either of them really wanting to settle straight away. Maybe they’re in their late twenties/early thirties
Tim probably moves into Darry’s house after pony and soda move out (and after angie and curly are well off enough to be alone)
Tim probably stops gang life in his twenties, just because he gets older and more mature (and not cool anymore) darry stops once the others stop.
For the wedding, again, family and friends. Probably in the form of a cookout at their house. They get rings but I don’t think either of them wear them (they don’t seem like jewellry wearers. They probably keep them on chains around their necks)
Pony officiates lol. Idk I just feel like he would. Soda cries the whole time (Steve has to physically pull him off of darry)
I imagine dally and curly pulling some sort of nonsense at the wedding to piss Tim off (yes I’m choosing to keep dally and Johnny alive)
Tim’s gang isn’t really his family, at this point in his life, he probably doesn’t even know them anymore. So it’s just curly and Angela at the wedding for him.
Darry ofc is the one that people came to see (mr star of the show)
As for a kid, I’d like to say they probably wouldn’t have one, at least not for a while. They both raised their little siblings, they aren’t eager to do it again.
BUT it’s also cute to imagine them having a baby (especially because of how tim is canonically good with babies)
Idk where they got it. Maybe it was left in their doorstep, idk. Fact is, they have a child
Tim wants to be the cool dad but darry has taken that spot without even trying.
Baby adores darry because he’s strong and can throw it in the air ❤️
Tim is jealous ofc. He’s way cooler than darry, the baby just isn’t smart enough to see that yet
Baby still loves him a lot though 🌸
They’re good dads. Not perfect ofc, but they love the baby and the baby loves them.
Now as for the baby’s one million uncles and one aunt.
Angela LOVES the baby. Like, darry is worried she will steal it. She’s always trying to get the baby to say her name (baby calls her “Ana”)
Twobit is next on people taht are obsessed with the baby. I’m sure he has his own kids (seems like the type tbh) but the baby is DARRYS kid. He can’t wait until it’s old enough to be a bad influence on
Dallas is not allowed near the baby because Tim refuses to put the baby down when he’s around (he thinks dally will somehow corrupt his >1 year old and make it dally jr)
Soda is the best uncle by far. He and Johnny are very soft with the baby. Soda is, however, guilty of dropping the baby. He is no longer allowed to hold the baby.
Johnny is scared to hold the baby, but once it’s walking he will play (very gently)
Steve, curly, and pony are the babies worst enemies. Baby fucking hates them so much and it breaks their hearts.
Baby bites steve any chance it gets. Hits him, grabs his nose (which everyone else thinks is adorable but Steve sees it for the attack that it is) Steve has no clue what he did but the baby is his #1 hater
Baby doesn’t like pony. Wont even look at him. Pony adores the baby and this rejection hurts.
Curly and the baby tussle quite often. Baby loves yanking his curls (getting its grubbing fingers tangled in, as someone with baby experience, ow ow ow) if the baby pulls his hair, he pulls the baby’s hair right back. They are sworn enemies.
He loves the baby ofc but keeps a careful distance.
Baby grows up to be an okay kid. Can’t do anything without darry or tim finding out since they both know EVERYONE.
Idk someone name the baby my brain is mush

this post is about the shepards having autism/being on the spectrum, strap in,,,
btw to b clear, they all got some other stuff goin on w em mentally, but im focusing on them bein autistic rn, im a bit rusty when it comes to talking about them w autism bc i havent talked about it in so long, I HOPE THIS ALL MADE SENSE
tim- the same way ppl see darry as being autistic is how i feel w tim, its not much of a difference honestly, so ion have much to say. he comes off as cold but he’s rlly not, he’s blunt and that makes him come off as rude to a ton of ppl and so therefore unapproachable, generally prefers to be alone minus like a few ppl (those ppl being angela and curly, and hes kinda had to grow to get used to pony being around a bit). he kinda has a monotone voice. he does have a same routine generally speaking and HATES when it gets fucked up somehow, he gets pretty agitated. his special interest is maybe like, space or somethin like that, but he seems pretty casual about it so ppl dont exactly understand that its literally a special interest, if that makes sense. he can notice patterns n small things other ppl wouldnt. i could see him having synesthesia and pain insensitivity, thats part of the reason y ppl think hes so tough in fights, they think hes just so used to fights he cant rlly get hurt like others can but no, he genuinely just doesnt react to pain stimuli that much
curly- hes the one out of all three of em where i actually have him more fleshed out😭
he does stim, however its things that r deemed as more “normal” to do in front of others like bouncing his leg, tapping something, etc etc, but i will tell u a good chink of his stiff is chewed bc he just “felt like biting something”. he doesnt know the volume of his own voice and that gets him into a bit of trouble, sometimes hes rude genuinely without even meaning to and he things thats just bc hes a shepard, he has his moments where he takes shit literally or just doesnt get social rules. honestly i could see him being either a lil too clingy physically or him hating being touched by others, maybe hes a mix of both. he also has pain insensitivity and like i said, ppl think its bc hes gotten into so many fights, he just doesnt feel that pain no more, but nope, genuinely registers pain differently BUT if u want him to be hypersensitive to touch, i will tell u that he is tender headed so tim always has trouble braiding his hair especially when he was younger. this is like more modern day ish hc of him but ik he would be repeating words/phrases over and over (its called echolalia i think). doesnt rlly make eye contact a while bunch, its not bc hes nervous or it makes him uncomfortable tho its just like, a thing he does idk how to explain it. hes autistic but if u literally just got this nigga someone to get a look at him it becomes pretty obvious hes autistic, hes literally not even masking, if u had someone u hc to be autistic and they looked at him on his day to day life theyre def goin “hmm,,,”. hes def gotten into a fight bc he was overstimulated lmao
his special interest can b bugs or horror movie or something along those lines
angela- my girl angela,,,,shes the one masking thee HARDEST i just know it, ppl would deny shes autistic the most bc they dont understand autism in women, they would just say “shes just being a normal girl”, and i cant explain it bc we would b here for a while, but i will tell u she would show an obvious sign of being autistic and it gets written off bc ppl just see that as her being girly. ANYWAYS, shes hypersensitive (which means shes a bit tender headed, save my black girl), she gets annoyed by minor changes, has trouble making friends and this is for a multitude of reasons but her being autistic is one of em, has less obvious stims, she mostly plays w her hair, her special interest is more “socially accepted for a girl” and so ppl dont even see that as being her special interest which leads to her being undiagnosed, lowkey imitates other ppls hand gestures, and i have other ideas for her but i need to wrap this up this is becoming an essay😭😭
ANYWAYS they r undiagnosed bc they 1) dont have the resources to get tested lmao 2) they r black and black ppl tend to get misdiagnosed w something else bc they r so underrepresented  and 3) they r immigrants and immigrant parents dont rlly believe in having mental issues lmfao 4) they arent the “textbook outlook” of autism

3, 4, 7, 9 (outsiders asks)
EEEEE thanks for the ask anon!
3. Favourite character outside the main seven
Tim Shepard! I feel like Hinton threw mentions of him and Curly in there as a sort of foil to Darry and Ponyboy's dynamic but I have SOOOO many headcanons about him (and Curly and Angela too).
PS. The only reason I said Tim and not Angela is because she's not technically mentioned in the book. Angela is my favourite outsiders universe character ever and since theres not enough content for her I've decided I have to make my own lmao
4. Rank the main seven
OOF omg ok this was a hard one
First, Steve. Probably seems really random and unpopular but I feel like theres so much depth to his character that there just wasn't enough book to provide. We know he has a rough background and a soft spot for Sodapop and that Ponyboy's narration of him is biased since he thinks Steve doesn't like him. Tbh tho I think Steve really does care about Ponyboy in his own way, it's just hard for Ponyboy (and probably a lot of younger readers to see). My love of Steve was kind of an evolution but I can firmly say he's my favourite out of the gang atp.
Second, Darry. My man was a 20 y/o whose parent died who had to give up on his dreams to raise two younger brothers who he loved so much the feelings bled off the page. He NEVER should have hit ponyboy and it was such an out of character moment for him- AS IT WAS INTENDED TO BE. I have a LOT of thoughts about him but as someone who has grown that I'm almost the same age as him I cant IMAGINE having gone through what he went through and dealt with it as well as he did. My man needs more recognition.
Third, Ponyboy. He's such a dumbass and a weirdo but so reltable and sarcastic and profound. He's a main character who never gets in the way of other main characters and he's so quintessentially 13 that reading his story when I was that age fundamentally altered my brain chemistry and I haven't been the same since.
Fourth, Johnny. He was the gangs favourite for a reason and such a good friend to Ponyboy. I feel like the fandom infantilizes him sometimes, which is partially due to Ponyboy's narration, but the book makes it clear he's a really tough kid who looks like trouble but isn't. He's such a prime example of how the lottery of birth can fuck up someone's life. He is so tragic to me because he never had a chance.
Fifth, Sodapop. I know he's a fan favourite and I'm not saying I don't like him, but he's just kind of...boring? imo. Like, not much there, and not as much depth as some of the other characters. maybe its because we see a lot more of him in Ponyboy's thoughts but I'm not curious about him the way I am about some of the others.
Sixth, Dally. He's not likeable- but he is, as johnny said, gallant. I know it was by design that he's mysterious but I wish we got more backstory for him. I've just never connected to him the way I connected to other characters.
Seventh, Two-Bit. Again, probably unpopular and I know he's a fandom favourite but to me his issues have always jumped out more than his redeeming qualities. His alcoholism is a hallmark of his character, and i think at one point Ponyboy mentions he's a dead weight on his family's finances. He also has a little sister that's Ponyboy's age thats mentioned like once? I just feel like he's kind of a deadbeat for his family if that makes sense.
7. Favourite non romantic relationships. i could (and probably should atp, whoops this got long) make a whole other post about this but:
darry and ponyboy's relationship
johnny and ponyboy's friendship
steve and sodapop's frienship
johnny and dally's relationship
9. Favourite scene/moment from the book?
When Ponyboy runs directly into Darry's arms as soon as he sees him at the hospital. Gets me right in the feels every time.
Bonus: the moment when that guy tells Ponyboy he shoudn't smoke and he's all confused, like why? theres not a no smoking sign? and the dude is just like uh? but youre a kid? it's just such a stark reminder that while Ponyboy has grown up sheltered in some ways he has absolutely not been in others and his background is really rough and agh it gets me every time its such a clever scene.
ANYWAY this got longer than i meant it to, whoops. Thanks ever so much for the ask :)

— CINNAMON GIRL ᶠⁱⁿᵃˡᵉ
Tumblr media
written by mina leigh ୨ৎ , the greases 𝔁 f! reader | wc 1000
Tumblr media
summary. features the greasers talking amongst themselves about y/n, how she’s always been a constant presence in their lives, and what she means to them. a few mentions of matteo and charlie, her younger brothers, but the main focus is on y/n’s role in the greaser family.
labels. lighthearted tone, mentions of family and friendship, and reflections on y/n’s impact on each character’s life.
‧₊˚ ୨୧ mina speaks. chapter 8! the last one, this was so much fun to recreate and make it better for my following. this might me the last thing i write for a while. school started back up so ill be mia for a bit. feel free to send requests ♡
Tumblr media
darry
❝you know, i always figured y/n would end up like one of those people who quietly fades into the background. but somehow, she’s always there when we need her, without even trying.❞
soda nodded in agreement. ❝yeah, like when things get rough and everyone else is losing their heads, she just … takes over without making a big deal about it.❞
ponyboy
❝she never really asks for anything. she just does what she has to do, and everything feels a little less heavy. i think that’s what gets me the most. she doesn’t need anyone’s validation to do what’s right, and that’s … rare.❞
johnny
❝yeah, it’s like she doesn’t mind putting herself last as long as everyone else is okay. she’s … i don’t know, the kind of person who makes you want to be better just by being around her.❞
two-bit
❝she’s the best at making people laugh when they need it most. i mean, i’m no slouch myself, but y/n? she’s got that knack for knowing when to say something and when to just listen. it’s like she gets us, even when we’re acting like idiots.❞
steve
❝i don’t get how she does it. i’ve seen people go through a lot, but y/n — she never shows the weight of it. it’s like she’s got this inner strength, y’know? she keeps everything together without even breaking a sweat. and it’s not just about her being the “mom” of the group, either. she genuinely cares, and i think that’s what makes her so different.❞
darry
❝yeah. she’s a lot stronger than people give her credit for. i think she has to be. raising her brothers, keeping everyone else in line, and still somehow managing to make us all feel like we matter … she does it all.❞
ponyboy
❝she’s also one of the only people who can get through to me when i’m being… well, me. when i get caught up in my own head, she just knows how to make me talk about it. and it’s not even in a way that feels forced. she just knows how to make me feel heard.❞
two-bit
❝yeah, she’s got this way of making you feel like you matter, when you’re at your worst. i mean, i’ve definitely had my fair share of screw-ups, but every time she talks to me, it’s like i’m not just the guy who tells bad jokes. i’m someone she actually cares about.❞
steve
❝she’s also the only person who can keep soda in check. not that soda’s bad or anything, but y/n just… knows how to get through to him. she makes him feel like he’s got this huge weight on his shoulders, but at the same time, she’s always there to remind him it’s okay to relax sometimes.❞
johnny
❝i think that’s what i like most about her — how she makes everyone feel like they belong. even if we mess up, she doesn’t let us feel like we’re failures. i’ve never felt judged by her. she just accepts us, flaws and all.❞
darry
❝i remember when she first started hanging around with us. it was just me, soda, and ponyboy, and we had our own way of doing things. then y/n showed up, and she … just fit. like she was always supposed to be here. her brothers, matteo and charlie, are a handful, but she’s always got them under control. it’s like she’s got this natural way with kids.❞
soda
❝yeah, she’s like a big sister to us, too. i don’t know how she does it, but she’s always there, always checking in, making sure we’re not getting into too much trouble. and if we do, she’s the one to give us that disappointed look that makes you feel like you’re five years old again.❞
two-bit
❝that’s the thing, though. she’s not just a second mom to us. she’s our friend. someone we can go to when we need to talk, or just … chill, y’know? she’s got this balance that none of us have. she’s one of us, but she’s also someone we can look up to.❞
johnny
❝and she’s always the one who puts everyone else before herself. i’ve seen her stay up late helping matteo with his homework or comforting charlie when he’s had a bad day. i don’t know how she does it, but she’s always there for us.❞
steve
❝she’s a fighter, too. i don’t think anyone’s seen it, but i have. when things get tough, she doesn’t back down. not for a second. i think that’s why i trust her so much. when y/n says she’s got your back, she really means it.❞
darry
❝you know, i think that’s why we all stick together. y/n doesn’t just bring people together, she makes us want to be better. i don’t know how, but she does.❞
two-bit
❝yeah. it’s like, without her, none of us would be the same. we wouldn’t be as tight-knit, as loyal to each other. we wouldn’t be a family.❞
soda
❝y/n’s the glue. she’s the one who holds all of us together, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.❞
