Mother/father, i crave more lore.
π₯-GOD THAT WAS FAST OKAY π°
π₯-wellll, due to the eat or be eaten nature of the darkzone, many critters often operate in packs, as safety in numbers is usually the best choice.
π₯-many of these packs are the same species, but sometimes, interspecies packs can occur.
π₯-these are very uncommon, but when they do occur, they offer a symbiotic relationship between the two species.
π₯-also, snappers and many other species have different 'mutations' and 'breeds'
π₯-there are ladderbred snappers, a creation of @/thatonesalmonlingnamedspike, which are snappers with 'ladders' climbing up their necks. they're usually taller, and snappers in their pack will climb up them to reach high up prey.
π₯-there are sunbred snappers, that are snappers who's petals will glow. their function is to lure in prey with their flashy colors, putting them in a trance.
π₯-and mutations play a role in darkzone genders, too
π₯-mutations are when a snapper or other creature strays too far from their template, and gets unique patterning, thorns, petals, tails, you name it.
π₯-mutations are actually EXTREMELY common, finding something without a mutation is rare
π₯-mutations can be as simple as different horn shapes, colors, or thorns lining the neck to make a false "spiked collar" to an extra tail or head.
π₯-often, creatures spawn in with mutations.
π₯-how does this play into gender? well, some mutations are considered 'feminine' or 'masculine', but at the end of the day, most darkzone creatures are genderless or demi unless leaning too far to a side. their pronouns often have to do with this leaning.
π₯-trans critters exist if their species has the mental capacity to realize they can do that, too, as a lot of the darkzone species are animalistic.
π₯-actually, the most advanced creatures are the mimics, glowbows, and snappers. mimics being the most advanced due to making tools and a language, and snappers being the least making their own social hierarchies and language.
π₯-also, there's a two-headed, two-tailed glowbow in a cave that darkzone creatures visit at least twice in their lifetime, haze.
π₯-haze is a pitch-white glowbow that quite literally glows, releasing enough energy to grant creatures low on it enough sunlight to make it through life. dying critters often stay near haze, holding onto their lives.
π₯-okay. I ranted a little too hard. sorry for making this a school essays worth of paragraphs.

After seeing the dark zone talked about frequently in fbps blog, I'm curious as to leafior interacts with them
π₯-well, different darkzone species are born out of leafiors nightmares, so she tries to at least stay on good terms with her creations
π₯-shes noted to visit them at least once as soon as they spawn in, although sometimes she misses a few spawns
π₯-sometimes they don't remember her, but that's okay, as sometimes they'll also recognize her scent
π₯-the only thing keeping it recognizable is that the darkzone often doesn't carry many scents at all due to being dark and damp all the time
π₯-also, ironwood has visited there once. never again.

so. do they just let them maul leafior
π₯-the ones that know she's their creator have learned it from haze, and that group of creatures often will defend her due to it.
π₯-it's just a massive 30/70 if she can find such a group as haze doesn't tell everyone this, just the few haze trusts or thinks will take it well.
π₯-some creatures genuinely don't care too, and just see her as food anyway.

so basically we ballin with leafior it's fine
π₯-we'd love if it could be all sunshine and rainbows,
π₯-but she still misses a few critters and therefore they don't trust her even in the slightest.
π₯-they either think she's dinner-worthy, or are scared of her.
π₯-sometimes both.
π₯-honestly, back home, fbp getting a bite out of her is considered a feat to the few scared of her.
π₯-and, luckily, haze isn't even remotely scared of her nor does she see her as food. leafior actually used to come to her for advice before the rabies.
π₯-oh, and ever since the current events, even the darkzone creatures have been rattled. they can't go into the mindspace, but they can see it changing and shifting from afar. haze is worried, as leafiors little mind areas depend on her mental health for support. if the mindspace is changing, maybe the darkzone will too.

π₯-id LOVE to give you the whole lore, but this rp has been going on for actual ages, it would take me so so long ππππ
π₯-also theres some rundowns in #pinned, pins rundown is really good although its more of her perspective, + some anon decided to explain some bits really well
π₯-ps; this originally wasnt supposed to be an au, but it got so offtrack by accident it qualifies as one, (this is completely my fault, mods, dw) πππ
π₯-so, ill give you the shortest rundown i can possibly muster about the FIRST quarter of the rp for bg info:
π₯-leafior first appeared, got a lollipop and cookies, and almost immediately got rabies
π₯-before the rabies, she met leafy, who people called her mom (so she just believed it as she had no known relatives)
π₯-but during the rabies, her probably brother firey jr had to un-rabid her
π₯-more rabies occurred, and leafy kinda ghosted her kid for a little until maple appeared
π₯-leafior during this all has been talking to pin, and told her to show a leafy drawing to leafy once she had the chance (this doesn't really matter in the long run i just loved this interaction)
π₯-maple has become a medical response to leafior going rabid, as maple had been mostly dormant before this and was pulled out by an anon (also, leafior and maple act kinda like a system! i made it in my own way, however, as im not a system and cannot speak for them.)
π₯-after maple appeared, leafy literally disowned leafior in a panic, making leafior think she did something wrong for a while
π₯-leafy apologized, but leafior said it would take a while to forgive her
π₯-leafior then left to a place called the darkzone, an area located in the mindspace (basically, her head. its where maple and leafior go when they arent taking over atm and where a few of the shenanigans happened)
π₯-the anons gave maple cool wings, and she left to go look for leafior
π₯-she got mauled by a lone mimic, and eventually did NOT find leafior, as leafior was tped outta there with a massive bite in her head
π₯-this bite is by fbp, a bowglow. fbp is important later on
π₯-so, once she headed back, pin and leafy FREAKED out at the sight of the 10 year old looking like she just escaped black friday in a walmart
π₯-she WAS fine, until she started bleeding and just flopped onto the floor. pin and leafy rushed to help bandage her and stuff before she went to the hospital, and leafior was rendered immobile during this
π₯-leafior forgave leafy, finally
π₯-and to wrap this up since this is getting disasterously long, they went to the hospital, coiny accompanying them
