Review: Dark Synevyr Tarot

When you go to the DS site you’ll see a wide range of decks available and as you may notice the decks are fairly cheap. Their pricing model is they offer their decks at a cheap pre order rate that gradually increases the closer the deck gets to the publication date.

Also DS has free shipping (Nice bonus)

I as of the time writing this have purchased three decks from DS (Lonley Ice, Simpsons, Botanica Occulta)

The one I have received this this deck, The Lonely Ice Tarot I ordered in late July when I initially ordered it, it was due for a June/July release.

Understandably there has been some delays in the production and shipping of this deck due to the circumstances of 2020 so this deck was delayed until October/November.

Finding information about the status of the decks on the DS website is not super easy and I had to reach out myself to the publisher, I initially did so via email but found I had a much faster response via Instagram.

I was not initially sent out a tracking number for my deck, but they were quick to rectify this once I inquired. The shop owner is very responsive and helpful and would also answer my queries about the status of the other decks I am currently waiting on.

This is what I received, the decks are packed into a standard cardboard box packaging wise, I think my deck did get a tiny bit bumped in transit but that is hard to avoid with this sort of packaging, the deck itself has no issues.

Card quality is nice, clear print and vivid colours, it’s basically the standard I’ve had from most mass market decks I’ve brought to date. Cards are a nice size and fit in the hand well and shuffle fairly easily.

I think this deck although very nice the imagrey isn’t as symbolic as some other decks but I don’t mind on that front. I personally feel this deck would’ve really popped with some metallic elements in the designs but that’s just my personal preference as I love decks with metallic details because I guess I’m actually a magpie.

I would recommend this deck company if you like the look of their work, they offer a range of decks with varying styles and themes but as stated they operate on a pre order basis so you do need to be prepared for a fairly long wait but these decks are from what I can judge a really nice quality and on the par of most mass market decks I’ve purchased.

PAGE OF SWORDS The only safe space for me growing up was school and escaping through books. Not that I was abused or anything, but one parent had high expectations and pushed me hard while the other parent felt alienated by it and made negative comments about my nose always being in a book. But doing anything hands on in front of either parent petrified me so I found sanctuary in my novels and freedom in excelling in school. Because of the extreme focus on intellect and such, I have not been able to connect to my intuition as easily. I am using the Folk Witch Tarot by @dark.synevyr.tarot 🇺🇦 Part 1: What's clouding my inner guidance? 5. When do I find it challenging to trust and follow my inner guidance? 9 OF SWORDS Well, this feels a little obvious (thank you, Tarot haha)… but it’s difficult for me to follow my inner guidance if I am wrapped up in my anxiety. My anxiety disorder can be intense sometimes and I am so grateful I have a patient husband who calmly dispels my overdramatized fears. But at my worst, not even his loving logic can penetrate the cloud of worry hovering over my head. (sub-question to go deeper: what's getting in the way?) ACE OF PENTACLES I find it fascinating that the imagery in this card shows the duality of a sun and moon instead of the typical ace of earthiness. Looking at this imagery and pairing it with my 9 of words above, I imagine that my inner sunny happy self is using the darker cloudier self as protection. If I’m anxious and clouded, then there’s no possibility of failure or being hurt. The need for security and comfort gets in the way of me cutting through my anxiety to follow my inner guide.
