I remember i was in 6th grade and one of my classmate made an anonymous account on Facebook and she asked me " Fatima did your mother drank water from Africa before giving birth to you" i didn't say anything in return and then she said "I'm sure she drank African water that's why you look like what you look like" It hurt. i cried myself to sleep that night, Its been almost 8 years now and i still remember her words and i will always remember.

Ironically shes still my class mate.. Girl if you're reading this right now and you're feeling bad about what you said, you should. You made me feel shit about myself but we were kids and we all did and said stuff that we regret and whatever i don't hate you or anything. Yea, I was a dusky kid and in our society its a HUGE deal. People made me feel like I'm some sort of alien- some despicable inhuman creature and I'm not even exaggerating this is exactly how our society treats dark/dusky skinned people, we treat them like they're not humans. Its in our routine to mock a certain skin color. Who keeps this obsession with fair skin in our society? Males or females? Its mostly us females. Our society has no room for dark skinned people. They seem to be untouchables-
