i was gonna make a well rounded team but i love the dark type dogs so much. if i hadn't recently used umbreon in PLA it might be on here!

i also love having teams where i can see them having like, dynamics potentially, so obviously tyranitar and sableye would be two silent but bonded buddies, mightyena and houndoom would be some rough-and-tumble siblings and zoroark and obstagoon are like. the cool kids

if i wanted to make a well-rounded team for like. battling. it would look very different lol

The MLQC Boys as Pokemon Trainers Headcannons

Victor

I feel like Victor wouldn’t really have a type preference at all, rather he would have Pokemon that he either grew up with or found to be great company

Because he’s a cook, I can see him having a Slurpuff, but I can also see him with a Gallade, Liepard, and a Bisharp

Slurpuff is his cooking buddy, and he most likely would have met them back when Slurpuff was a Swirlix

Gallade is the male evolution of Ralts, giving off regal elegance that is only hightened in its mega-evolved form (Victor probably met his now-Gallade as a Ralts)

Liepards are a trademark of sleekness and style, perfect for a CEO such as himself

Bisharp give off a knightly appearance and will fight passionately in battle, paying a homage to Victor’s personality (guarded and defensive with a sugary sweetness once you get to know him)

Lucien

Lucien would definitely do good with psychic and dark types, if not dabbling into ghost types just a little

I can definitely see him having a Gengar, Malamar, and a Mightyena

 Lucien would want to train Pokemon who were like-minded to him, and Psychic types are right up his alley in terms of his big brain ™ 

His use of Dark types would be something habitual, being a part of Black Swan as Ares

The trademark Dark types were an Alolan Persian, Liepard, or a Mightyena, and Lucien really didn’t want to have the same Pokemon as Victor

Persians would have tried his patience too much, so he stuck with the trusty dog-like Dark type

Malamar is able to hypnotize its opponents, a skill that we all know Lucien has, making them a nice pair

And with Gengar, as michevious as they can be, Lucien will always know if he has unwanted company

And with Gengar being a poison type, he knows he can subdue the unwanted visitors (permanently)

His Pokemon are always three steps ahead, if not more (just like him), and are ready to go at all times

They weren’t used to affection until they met you

Before then Lucien was colder to them as well, but you broadened his view a little bit

His Pokemon were crazy strong before, but now that Lucien actually has a bond with them his team gets even better

Kiro

I feel like Kiro would want cute or elegant Pokemon on his team that would shine just as much as he does, but if you asked he would probably say Electric or Fire types

Definitely has Alolan Raichu, plus a Blaziken and a Ninetails

The secondary psychic typing on Raichu is an added bonus

Alolan Riachu is just a ball of adorableness (Like Kiro!) and they float on their tail?! Instant hit.

Blaziken looks really cool and is also good in combat, and Ninetails brings in a sense of elegance to tie everything into an amazing bow

He would probably be more into Pokemon contest-type things than actual battles, though if he finds someone he really likes he won’t be against battling them

This little ball of sunshine has one of the best relationships with his Pokemon out of all of the boys, and loves to play with his buddies and chow down on snacks

Gavin

Gavin would definitely dabble in Flying and Fighting type Pokemon

I can see him having a Pidgeot, Machamp, and a Lucario

Gavin’s constant training would help him grow closer with all of his Pokemon partners, but it would also give him a better understanding of combat with Lucario and Machamp

He’s pretty good with aerial techniques with Pidgeot for obvious reasons (We love our birdcop)

His Pokemon are just as soft and protective around you as he is

Machamp is always ready to help Gavin train (four arms sure come in handy)

Lucario is acutely aware of auras, so this one is always in tune to how Gavin is feeling

Pidgeot always goes on flights with Gavin in the mornings, and sometimes when he needs to clear his head, just so he knows he’s not alone

Its no surprise that his Lucario would perk up when it senses you nearby, alerting the others, causing them to get all excited

Shaw

Go-to Electric types, but mix that in with some Dark types

Sparky boi may have an eletricity Evol, but he’s also dressed like a teenage-punk-boy dream

I can see him with an Alolan Persian, an Ampharos, and a Luxray

Persians are known for looking sleek and causing mischief, which is a trademark quality of Shaw

Luxray is a strong, large, elegant predator, encapsulating everything Shaw wants to be on the outside 

Ampharos is the solid electric type that can mega-evolve into a dual type (adding on Dragon), showing versatility  

Though it doesn’t show in public or in battles, Shaw is actually really tender with his Pokemon partners

(He may have caused a blackout or two while training)

Bonus!

Helios

Steel types all the way

Helios always means business, he needs speedy heavy-hitters who can get the job done in one fell swoop and be ready to go onto the next thing

Most definitely has a Steelix, Skarmory, and an Aggron

Steelix is a large, intimidating heavy hitter who can burrow in the ground and surprise the enemy, and one of two of his Pokemon that can mega-evolve

Skarmory is his eyes in the sky, and his speediest partner

Aggron is his secondary heavy hitter and his primary candidate for mega-evolution

Helios is fairly distant from his Pokemon, but if you’re paying close attention you can catch a hint of a smile on his face as you feed them snacks

Mightyena!!!! The Bite Pokemon!

I love hyenas, and Mightyena is no exception! Game Freak made an interesting decision with Ruby and Sapphire, in that they made one of the first pokemon you encounter in the wild a Dark-type. In Gen II, the Dark-type had been quite rare, and besides Umbreon, Dark-types wouldn’t appear until after beating the Elite Four and heading to Kanto. Perhaps this line’s early availability was intended to rectify that and give the Dark-type some much-needed attention! This line actually played double duty as an early game common and a signature pokemon of both the region’s villainous teams, with Mightyena being in both team leaders’ parties.

Like some real hyenas (such as the spotted hyena), Mightyena lives in packs, which coordinate together to take down prey. There’s no reference to scavenging, which is interesting, as scavenging is probably one of the things hyenas are most known for. Still, it’s refreshing to see hyenas’ hunting skill acknowledged! As a result of its history in packs, they’re said to always – and only – obey the commands of a skilled trainer. If these traits sound similar to dogs and wolves too, that’s probably intentional, as hyenas are fundamentally similar to dogs and wolves in a lot of ways. But it’s also obligatory for me to remind everyone hyenas are actually more closely related to cats than dogs!

Mightyena’s also got some incredible vibes, with its fierce expression and greyscale colour scheme giving it a notably more serious feel than most other pokemon. The only thing lightening the mood of its design is its bright red nose, which apparently was black in early artwork! I think a black nose looks a bit better, but the red has that effect Sugimori once talked about of purposefully stopping any pokemon from being too cool, so I’m not surprised they went with it. Mightyena’s also got some cool markings near its eyes and, of course, that lovely ragged hair going on. Its hair notably goes down its back in two streaks, just like it starts on the head.

Mightyena’s an unfortunate recipient of one of those dirty gold shinies. Like shiny Stoutland, it looks like it got orange juice spilled on it, which never got washed off. It’s also got a blue nose, I guess, which I’m not sure how I feel about. But the eyes look neat, at least!

Overall, Mightyena’s pretty rad. It’s a neat representation of hyenas that avoids stereotypes like scavenging and laughing, which is an interesting decision, and instead leans more into the dog association. Probably one of the coolest common early-game pokemon.

Rouga loves you for it

He actually studied under Brawly from Hoenn for his martial arts skills, and self discipline after his parents died, Brawly was like an older brother for Rouga. They’d often go running topless on the beach.

He then took a boat overseas to study with Nanu from Alola for his love of Dark Types. Which brought about his slightly masochistic tendencies.

Karen from the Kanto region is like a grandmother to him. She was friends with his parents.

He's from Hoenn, specifically he was raised in Lavaridge Town, but liked to stay in the mountains and trained in Mt. Chimney, and pokes around in the ashy grass on Route 112.

He has some of the Hoenn badges, but got bored after getting number 4 and just stopped his Gym Challenge.

He's also done some contests--his Mightyena is a Cool Master Rank.

He actually dated Flannery for a while before she got tired of his Dog Pokemon trying to eat her Slugma.

He stays far away from the bigger cities and prefers the wilderness over people.

After loosing his parents in an accident with a rockslide he’s become capable to breaking large tocks with his fists.

He doesn’t talk much, and his party can tell how he’s feeling and defend him from others.

His Alolan Raticate (that he swaps for his Beedrill sometimes) was a present from Nanu. He treasured the Pokemon and raised it well. As a Ratata it often sat on his head, burying itself into his hair.

Some more headcanons

Klara

Klara is very vain. She puts a great deal of effort into her appearance and refuses to go out or take pictures unless she is satisfied with how she looks. Klara cannot tolerate a single hair out of place.

She wasn't always like that though. As a child, Klara was teased often and everyone picked at her appearance. It made her very self conscious and have self esteem issues.

It's what led her to being interested in poison types. She found many of them to be very beautiful and even cute, yet hiding such a deadly nature. Klara wanted to be like that. She wanted to be admired and feared.

Klara only real friends are her pokemon. Her friendliness to other people are a facade and she isn't very close to most people to consider them friends.

Klara never tells anyone about her past. Where shes from, her parents, anything. Theres nothing particularly dark or terrible about her upbringing, but she didn't grow up with much money or in a nice area. So she prefers not to talk about it. After all it could mess with the appearance she worked so hard to achieve.

Klara has a one sided rivalry with Raihan and Nessa. The two of them have the biggest following of the Galar leaders and Klara sees it as a threat to her own. Nessa knows jealous and catty behavior when she sees it. Raihan dosen't give it much thought.

Klara knows how to dance ballet. She doesn't do it very much anymore since deciding to be a gym leader.

Avery

Grew up in the countryside on his wealthy grandparents estate. He was raised to be a proper gentleman. 

Has had psychic powers since he was very young. His family has always trained psychic pokemon so hes always known how to control it.

Was that kid that preferred reading over going outside. So he picked up a pretty large vocabulary. Pair that his very prim and proper grandparents, and you have Averys eloquent speech.

Is a fan of street fashions that incorporate old fashioned and vintage pieces with modern garments. Hes still trying to get the hang of it.

Despite how polite Avery is, he isn't very used to talking plainly with people. He can get very awkward and use a lot of big words to explain things. To some people he can come off as rather stuffy and posh. He doesn't mean to though. 

Despite being his types weakness, hes always had a soft spot for big pokemon. There was always a couple of them hanging around the estates gardens and young Avery would play with them.

Everyone thinks he loves tea. He actually prefers coffee. Preferably with lots of sugar.

Sonia

Sonia has a big soft spot for dog/canine pokemon. Yamper, nickit, houdour, mightyena. Dog is a dog. The first thing she asked Hop and the trainer about Zacian and zamazenta was if she could pet them.

Sonias mom was a wild child when she was young. She never wanted to take up the professor mantle and could never stay in one place for long, until she came back to wedgehurst with a baby sonia. Sonia has never met her father and things between her mom and gran have been tense most of her life. It's the main reason Professor Magnolia can be hard on Sonia.

Started wearing makeup at thirteen. She watched a ton of online tutorials and secretly bought makeup, because grandma would not allow it at first.

Is a fan of dating sims. Has a few games in her phone that she'll play on break. Hop has caught her playing multiple times. Poor Hop is scarred, he seems to have a knack for catching her when she unlocks the spicy content.

Occasionally likes to read fanfiction, but has never been good at writing it.

Has a collection of cute mugs. The lab cupboard is overflowing with them.

Hop

Hop, much like his brother, never half asses anything. He puts his 100%best into everything. 

Always sought out attention growing up. While kids might act out for it, Hop always did his best to be like Leon to get it. Though his family always seemed to just nod and let him be. So Hop was never sure if it worked.

After Hop studies with Sonia for a while, he wants to try and study abroad. Hop has an interest in type advantages, so he wants to see if Kukui in Alola will be willing to take him on. Since his research on pokemon moves is very relevant to his interest.

After Leon moved out, Hop used to sneak into his room and use/take the stuff he left behind. From reading the books Hop was too young for, to stealing t-shirts he thought was cool.

Whenever Leon was home, Hop would have him sign his name on cards and Hop would sell them to kids at school and around town to make extra cash after they kept asking him if he could get them Leon's autograph. It lasted him awhile.

Considers Victor/Gloria's house his second home. Their mom is always nice to him and Victor/Gloria never ask about Leon. Despite how much Hop loves and admires his brother, it's nice just to be seen as Hop and not the champions brother.

ima do some post starting with the groups/factions if you have any ideas don't be shy to spam them it’s not like i check tumblr notifs lmao

Starting with:

Dream Team

Dream- Normal and Dark, i was thinking normal because well dream is kinda basic, just a blob, and for dark well.... smp watchers should know why. And for his team i went with: 

Ditto (for the smile aesthetic)

Ursaring (you all can guess why yourselves)

Nidoking (I had a Nidoking and he was incredibly strong and basically a god against anyone i fought so i think it’s fitting, also king)

Mightyena (The little lore  to finding this one was he found it as a Poochyena, and he hasn’t had the heart to take it off his main team)

Dragonite (I wanted to give him a pseudo legendary and decided on this, to balance out the aggressiveness of his team, also because you know, he started the smp, gen 1)

And for the sixth spot i decided to leave it up to you all i didn't have the quarter of a brain cell to choose one

Talonflame (He heard that Dream got a Dragonite and he wanted his own flying type too)

Lucario [Mega Evo] (George gave him the stone for it, he had it for a while ever since it hatched actually)

Stuffl (”Just wait until someone tries to attack me and i send this fella out and they yeet em’ into the stratosphere”)

Toxapex (”To balance out all the fire we have this”, it also refuses to leave Sapnap’s side)

he usually fills his last spot with anything he thinks is cool looking, but he releases them after a bit cus their probably are weak or because they don’t strike as much interest to him as he expected.

George- Electric and Dragon. My reasoning will stay hidden. He’s a lab worker because he “wants to do something valuable with his time” so he just has pokemon to help him and such.

Dedenne (Ok so before you say that using a dedenne as a electric source is animal abuse, she does it to herself, she sleeps on the wires.She also helps power machines that need more voltage, and don't worry she can handle this)

Luxray (I realized each Dt member has a ride pokemon and I’ve decided Luxray is gonna be George’s)

2 10% Zygardes (Watch dogs so people stop trying to rob his lab, it’s mostly Dream or Skeppy but still)

Hoopa (Because George studies pokemon from different regions Hoopa bargains with George, as long as he helps find the pokemon he will eventually give Hoopa their bottle back. Stupidly enough this Au has lore that shifts away from the actual smp because it’s pokemon)

Venusaur (He got it as a starting pokemon, and even though George doesn’t usually fight pokemon his Bulbasaur was always there to fight any threat to George)

So leak season is wrapping up. I’ll go over some personal opinions on each new pokemon/form we know of. I would do an image but tumblr, for some reason, refuses to let me upload them, but you can find them somewhere. We can probably expect maybe 1-5 more in terms of missing mons or mythicals, but this is about what we have right now and seems to be the most complete we’re gonna get.

Grookey Line: Best of the starters strictly because I expected more from the other two and Rillaboom is actually a decent design.

Scorbunny Line: Disappointing, too humanoid. Why tf does it need shorts? Why are its arms so short and nubby? This isn’t a pokemon, let alone a starter, it’s a furry oc that got slipped in somehow. Raboot, though, looks adorable. However, it too doesn’t look like a Pokemon as much as it looks like an Undertale OC.

Sobble Line: The biggest disappointment. I had my hopes on this one, but then, ONCE AGAIN, they made Intelleon too humanoid. I realize its based on a Basilisk Lizard, but it could’ve still resembled more of an actual monster than some Sly Cooper/Gex oc reject. I’m legitimately still angry this was approved.

Corviknight Line: Really amazing. I fell in love with Corviknight the first time I saw him because I LOVE RAVENS and I LOVE GIANT BIRDS, and this is such an interesting regional bird with a STEEL half typing. It’s honestly tied with Talonflame for me. Also, Rookidie and Corvisquire? Really cool looking. That being said, I can’t really tell the difference between regular Corviknight and G-Max

Skwovet and Greedent: They’re okay. Not really life changing. About as forgettable as other regional rodents. I will say, Greedent looks too much like it comes from a Disney cartoon.

Wooloo and Dubwool: Wooloo won over everyone at the beginning, but I love Dubwool. It looks soft and tough at the same time. Not much more to say about it.

Gossifluer and Eldegost: Cute, but Gossifluer feels more complete than Eldegost to me.

Nickit and Thievul: I LOVE THESE! They’re Dark, which is strange since I could see them as part fire, but I guess they can’t delve too deep into Ninetales and Delphox territory. I hope they’re strong and not Mightyena tier weak

Yamper and Boltund: I wasn’t really all for Yamper’s 3d model. Artwork is better by far, but it could’ve been better. I feel like Boltund falls into the same category. It looks like a cartoon dog, but that’s about it. Maybe if they redid colors, give it some fiercer eyes, I’d like it a bit more. Right now its a firm Meh for me.

Milcery and Alcremie: I hate it when this phrase is used, but I gotta say it: Milcery looks like a digimon. Specifically a Fresh or In-training Digimon. I say this as an avid Digimon AND Pokemon fan. Its cute, but still, Digimon. Alcremie is okay, but I don’t think it needs more than one form. Also not really deserving of a G-Max form, imo. The G-Max form seems way too over designed and just… excessive.

Orbeetle Line: Love the typing, hate the designs. Blippug and Dottler look like Mario Galaxy enemies and Orbeetle looks like a reject Sonic Lost World enemy. Seems kind of pointless to make another ladybug when we have Ledian.

Morpeko: Standard Pikachu clone, honestly the base form is boring and just unappealing. However, the Hangry form? God damn why couldn’t that just be the base form? I love it, its interesting, the colors work and are symmetrical, ITS AN ANGRY SHIT. I’ll never feed mine if I ever use it.

Chewtle and Drednaw: All I gotta say is thank God that they revealed Drednaw first, cuz if they revealed Chewtle first? Yuck, no thank you, just disgusting, will be power-leveling ASAP. Drednaw, however, looks really cool and vicious. Its G-Max form is neato too. Definitely getting one when I buy the game used.

Hatterene Line: A strange concept, but nicely executed. It’s basically Galarian Gardevoir but without arms. Probably gonna be pr0nned just as much, though. I can’t really tell what I think about its G-Max form because its so blurry.

Arrokuda and Barroskewda: THE BOI IS A POKEMON AND IS REAL! thank god. Visually appealing! I also really like its evolution, too. Probably won’t use it because it looks about as useful as Finneon and Basculin. Maybe I’ll be pleasantly suprised.

Cramorant: I LOVE THIS GOOFY BOI

Sillicobra and Sandaconda: Really solid designs. I love them. I might try to use one for my team. Not overly designed, nothing too wild, its great, perfect.

Sinistea and Polteageist: Hate it, thanks. I do not want to drink your bodily fluids you strange perverted man.

Rolycoly Line: I’m so sorry my child. They did you so dirty. I’m a fan of the typing, but Karcoal and Coalossal just…. Do not do it for me. I’m sure I’m not the only one that wanted a badass train or something. Coalossal in particular looks like a boring fusion of Rhyperior and Magmortar. At least the G-Max form is decent.

Cupant and Copperajah: Ngl, I thought we were getting Galarian Phanpy, but not bad. I like the design and the fact that we finally have like. A legit elephant, and not a small tire boi or a mammoth swine. I like em!

Impidimp Line: I cannot believe it. This bastard. I hated him. I despised him. And yet Morgrem and Grimmsnarl redeemed it. Honestly I just love Grimmsnarl’s whole look. It looks like you have an ugly jester that snapped and went full grimdark demon-lord. I’d love to have one on my team. Cannot tell much about the g-max form but it looks cool

Toxel and Electox: I loved the grumpy boi, and I LOVE the sparky boi. Seriously, this thing looks so cool! Like maybe a bit like a neopet or a crash bandicoot oc but in a GOOD WAY. I definitely want one for my team and could see it as the Lucario/Zoroark of the region. Plus the typing! Oh my god the typing! It’s so great! Ground types might be a bitch but Rillaboom and Drednaw can take care of those easily.

Snorm and Frosmoth: God, I love it. Snorm? Babey. Frosmoth? Effervescent. Brilliant. Simple. An interesting Ice and Bug Type, which we’ve never had. Brilliant.

Sizzlepede and Centiskorch: BRUH. A fire bug type that actually looks badass as hell! And its G-Max form? It’s a dream! Just a long ass MONSTER! I love it! I want one on my team!

Clobbopus and Grapploct: BABY BOI! BABY! I love this punchy boi! And its evolution looks really great! I’m not really a fan of just pure fighting type but I can live with it. BABY!

Duraludon: Most likely has a prevo, but honestly? Kinda meh. It’s not really that strong of a design. Fan of the typing tho, but that’s it.

Stonjourner: Well, it’s a James Turner Pokemon, that’s for sure. It’s okay.

Pincurchin: Kinda blurry, can’t really tell, but I think it’ll be about as useful as Pyukumuku.

Indeedee: Decent, but probably just a forgettable Chancey clone. Unfortunately I recognize furbait when I see it.

Applin and Flapple: Kind of a lazy idea but it works, I like Flapple. I hope its part dragon but something tells me it’ll just be bug or flying. The G-max is blurry but I am a fan.

Dragapult Line: I fucking love these. Admittedly they look like TemTems or some Pokemon IOS ripoff and less like Pokemon Pokemon, but I do like them and especially just the creativity of it evolving and just collecting young around it. Brilliant.

Falinks: I like the concept. I think its creative, but just as a stand-alone seems kind of pointless. Maybe it’ll have a change forme?

Fossils: Okay, I’m grouping these together because the idea is super intriguing. Mix and match parts to get a pokemon! I like it and its a nice nod to Britain’s own mishaps with fossil classification. I do wish that we could see the original forms because it’s bugging me that they’ll never be completed.

Galarian Meowth and Purrserker: I actually really like this feral bastard. I feel like he’d knock a pot off the cabinet while smiling at me in the face. Purrserker is a bit weird but I think it might be a Viking? Interesting either way.

G-Max Kanto Meowth: ehhhh… pointless, obviously just a meme. We gotta stop making things longer and calling it a day, lads. Also why K-Meowth when we have Galar Meowth?

(Possibly?) Galarian Farfetch’d and Sirfetch’d: Gonna be real, Sirfetch’d is pointless. I think it, by itself, could’ve just been a Galarian Farfetch’d and doesn’t do enough to warrant it as an evolution. Can’t really tell much about the real G-F-Fetch’d other than its browner and has a bigger leek. Idk why we couldn’t get Madame from the Space World Gold Beta, that one fit the origin much better.

Galarian Mr Mime and Mr Rime: I hated Mr Mime when I first saw it, I hated it in the Det. Pikachu movie, and I hate its Galarian form. Mr Rime is tolerable but he’s on, ironically as an ice type, thin fucking ice. The naming is awful though, really goes against the Mime Jr and Mr Mime aesthetic the names had. Mime Sr? Mime II? Who knows.

G Corsola and Cursola: I love it, very topical. I feel so sad for Corsola because it’s just been so abused lately by Mareenie, and now it’s dying. Poor baby.

G Zigzagoon, Linoone, and Obstagoon: Just… Kinda there. Its okay. I much prefer the originals. Obstagoon is okay I guess but I’d rather it be its own design. It was so obviously made for the pointless team yell.

G Ponyta and Rapidash: Really cute, really wonderful, although I just wanna say… I called it. That being said, I find it weird that it’s mainly Psychic and only part fairy as Rapidash. That, and it needs Alicorn wings. I don’t want to toot my own horn, buuuuuutttt I kinda like my design better, lol. I would love to use it though.

G Weezing: Dough Dimmadome, owner of the Dimsdale Dimmadome, and I’m dimmadone with this dimmabullshit. It’s okay but I don’t see why it’s fairy. At least it has an interesting ability.

G Darumaka and Darmanitan: I uh… hmm. I feel like someone is going to be offended by it. Don’t know why. Its okay. Darumaka wears ice type better than Darmanitan. I vastly prefer the original one.

G Stunfisk:… why? I mean… interesting that it’s a bear trap now with a pokeball mimic mouth- Which raises questions. Does this thing hunt trainers!? I wasn’t really a fan of the original but this one is okay. James definitely pushed for this one though. Could’ve gone to Zoroark or Druddigon but nah, nah, STUNFISK. EVERYONE’S FAVORITE GEN 5 POKE.

G-Max Formes not covered above: Gonna just say it now, I think a bunch of these would’ve just been better as Megas.

Charizard: Pointless. Why do we have another Charizard forme? I like the design but like, that’s THREE. Bulbasaur and Squirtle aren’t even IN Galar but he gets a G-Max form. It’s honestly pissing me off at this point.

Pikachu: Pointless, its fat now, that’s it. it doesn’t do enough to differentiate itself from normal Pikachu. It’s not even original, it’s just older Pikachu, that’s it. Sorry, I’m not a fan, get over it.

Eevee: Fluffy boi. I like it, but again, doesn’t do enough to warrant it. I’d much rather have a new Eeveelution than a forme that Game Freak will just toss out next gen in favor of some other dumb gimmick.

Butterfree: I love it. Its too bad it isn’t a mega.

Machamp: Awesome, I wish it was part fire.

Kingler: Dude, I am legit afraid of this thing. It’s cool, but also I am SO afraid of spider crabs. Brilliant.

Lapras: Honestly I can’t really tell enough from the image we have, but I like that they gave Lapras something.

Garbodor: Okay, James? We get it, you like some weird Pokemon. I do love this ironically though. It actually makes me like Garbodor. But why not fuckin Golurk?

Legendaries:

Zacian and Zamazenta: I think they’re decent but should just be the same pokemon with different formes, not enough to differentiate them. I am curious about this alternate form Zacian has, and I guess Zamazenta will have one too. Maybe these are damaged or low powered forms?

Eternatus: HOLY FUCK. I LOVE THIS THING. It doesn’t look like a Pokemon at all but it is so imposing! So threatening! I love it! Both forms! Presumably there’s a third forme too! I definitely think its the source of Dynamax power, and I think it definitely is like the skeletal remains of its former self. It’s just so interesting, man. I want to know more about it. GF, and especially Masuda. DO NOT. FUCK THIS UP. DO NOT. POKEMON Z THIS. Give us. Proper Closure. God dammit. Do not. Fuck this up. I swear to god.

Overall: I hate the starters tbh, but overall a decently designed gen. Definitely polarizing because of some very questionable designs, on top of the Dexit situation. I’m definitely miffed that, AGAIN, GAME FREAK refuses to do 100, I’m saying AT LEAST 100 new Pokemon. No, I do not count alternate forms as new Pokemon, otherwise every Unown would be its own Pokemon. And James Turner definitely needs to workshop some more because he has some great hits but when he misses, by god does he miss.

I like most of these though, I’ll say that much. I hope there’s more, because I need more Pokemon to be satisfied. I’ll definitely get the game, but I’m waiting to buy used because I can’t reward GF for their greedy Dexit cut to promote Home. Sorry, that’s just how it is.
