(Idk if you subscribe to the Last Thursday theory about darkners, tho I don't think it changes how real they are, nor do I think it makes them lesser than the lightners since I think the Last Thursday theory can be applied to the light world too)

i get what you're going for, but i don't subscribe to the "last thursday" theory at all! the way i see it is this – the dark worlds have existed for a long time on a lower plane of existence, influenced by the lightners interfacing with them through their object forms. a dark fountain "creates" an instance of that world shaped by the knight's will where the lightners can interface with the darkners and the dark world itself face-to-face. (think of it like how although the game we call the light world is influenced by us interfacing with it as a video game, we cannot talk to kris or susie face-to-face or interact with the light world the way we would the places and people in our world. we'd need some kind of magical power to do that.) this is why we have things like the spamton q&a taking place before the knight arrived, darkners knowing about other darkners from future dark worlds (ie; jevil referencing queen, spamton&seam referencing darkners from ch3), and both the characters in the game and toby fox explaining that the dark fountains change darkners' behavior. those worlds have always existed and there is currently more indication in-game for that than there is against it.

that said, i do think being around ralsei (and being friends with the lancer fan club in general) is almost certain to drop some sort of light world (or even our world) knowledge on lancer. his and susie's shared arc involves questioning the status quo of closing fountains and destroying dark worlds (and i imagine the weird inconsistencies in the roaring story, too, judging by how lancer'll likely keep turning to stone the more he comes along on adventures), and so i'm sure both of them will butt heads with ralsei when fate and the power it has comes to take the trio (and kris, too, of course) all to task. themes!

AU where Yuma and the SSNIC (Super Secret Number Investigation Club) are stuck in the ARC-V world with no return whatsoever cus this club has a special place in my heart (Was planning this to be a TOH and ARC-V one but too lazy to do so)

Spoiler Alert! Name dropping my OC's name cus my mind said fuck it and just decide to do it anyway

Headcanons:

Would wake up in a random park in Maiami City, not knowing they've been transported out of their world

Probably just kept on searching for Number Cards (not knowing that someone else is now the Number wielder)

All of them would've been amaze at Action Duels but would be disappointed because that means that their Duel Gazers are now useless

Will eventually help and befriend Yuya and the You Show

^ Yuya and Yuma would be chaotic besties. He would definitely teach the SSNIC how to Pendulum Summon

(Astral senses that there's a hidded darkness inside Yuya's heart, thought that he may have a number card, he's 100% wrong)

^ Yuzu, Cathy, and Kotori would hangout as a trio, but made Yuzu the mother since Cathy and Tori won't stop arguing over Yuma, which Yuzu find it to be something stupid (which pisses the two of them even more, but instantly regrets it once Yuzu pulls out her fan)

^ Tetsuo and Gongenzaka would be close friends but Tetsuo would fear Gongenzaka's dueling style (but also admire him in some way)

^ Takashi, Tokunosuke, and Raya would be friends but not that close as the others are

^ All of them would hangout every single day, mostly at the You Show Duel School and help each other out in any way shape or from. From the SSNIC helping the Duel School get more attention and preventing it from being bought out from a big corporation, to the You Show gang helping them and finding more 'Number' cards

100% would be afraid of Yuya's berserk state (except Yuma cus he thinks its cool)

There could be a point where the SSNIC would visit LDS (during Sawatari's introduction), get distracted by the XYZ course and evetually meet Maria, except something's off abt her

^ Yuma would be crying in tears as he misses her so much but in return she would've smack him in the process

^ She would probably be confuse and weirded out since 1. They know her full name, family members, deck archetype, and address and 2. She doesn't have a cousin named Yuma and she doesn't EVEN lived near Heartland nor has she heard of its existence

^ The reason she is creeped out and she doesn't even admit it is that she DOES have a uncle and aunt named Kazuma and Mirai, Mirai was pregnant, but she and Kazuma were killed in one of their expidition, so she's seeing a alive version of her supposed-to-be-cousin-but-is-dead

^ Duels Yuma, won the duel, hears his story, and decides to do something abt it

^ Gets taken in by Maria's family since they're not in their own world, give them some spare rooms, clothes, and duel disks

^ Was trained under Maria's supervision and taught them how to be better duelist (+ taught them how to have fun in duels as well)

^ Would 100% teach them Pendulum and give them Pendulum cards

Due to being trained well with Maria, they would probably join the Lancers as well

Would be the pain in the ass part of the entire Lancers due to arguments (Maria arrived late to babysit them)

Would be hella PISSED to see their home dimension, or a version of it, being destroyed, like fully destroyed. Will get revenge on Academia

The Synchro Arc is like a 50/50 bcus all of them don't know how friendships work (Maria taught them how friendships work, it broke them badly)

Academia Arc would be the WORST of the bunch. They would've taken it ALOT more seriously, especially when they arrive at the Fusion Dimension

Yuma would be the one to duel (alongside with Gongezaka, Maria, Raya, Sylvio, Reiji, and Ray) against Zarc! Yuya since these two are SUPER close and are probably besties back in the Standard Dimension

Sometimes, I see people saying that King was trying to manipulate the Lancer Fan Club when he asked if his son was happy and all that. What confuses me about this is, what does he have to gain from manipulating them by this point? King is locked up, and he honestly doesn't seem to be trying to get out. Plus, he's already tricked Ralsei once, he probably knows that they likely won't be fooled again. So what exactly would he be trying to gain here?

Ohhh, that's a good question! I admittedly haven't seen a lot of people bring up this idea, but I do have a couple thoughts.

First, since Spade King doesn't trust Lightners and outright despises them, he could be searching for the first hint at suspicion. Susie, Kris, and Ralsei interact with Lancer fairly frequently, and while I'm sure none of them have any malevolent intentions, Spade King doesn't know that. He still views Lightners--and Darkners who praise Lightners--with disdain, and is probably concerned for his son's well-being, even if he doesn't really show it. I mean, he did try to peacefully talk Lancer out of befriending the other members of the Lancer Fan Club, so we know Spade King was concerned and tried to resolve things in a peaceful manner.

Another possibility is that Spade King was asking the Lancer Fan Club if his son was happy simply because he was curious. If you think about it, Lancer's life was drastically changed in the past day or two. At the beginning of Chapter 1, he was the prince of an entire Dark World. Then he went from being the prince to being the sole ruler at the end of Chapter 1, and when you first talk to Spade King in Chapter 2, Lancer's just come to Castle Town and isn't in any position of power. That would be a lot for a young child to go through in such a short time. Spade King didn't have a malevolent or suspicious tone when he asked how Lancer was doing, so it's entirely possible he just wanted to make sure Lancer was doing okay.

What's also likely is that Spade King feels bad, not for harming the Lancer Fan Club, but for not treating Lancer the best. I would honestly say Spade King was neglectful as a parent to some extent. Though, Spade King was a ruler of Card Kingdom--at least when all four kings ruled together--and later became the sole ruler. Spade King was likely a very busy guy, and didn't always have time to take care of Lancer. That's where Rouxls Kaard came in. Even if Lancer was being cared for to some capacity, I wouldn't be surprised if Spade King feels like he could have done better. Seeing Lancer bond with Rouxls Kaard likely took a toll on him. He may feel remorseful and wishes he could have been a better father. He wouldn't show or admit this to the Lancer Fan Club--Spade King would likely never admit/show vulnerability to such people--but he may feel this deep down.

We outright know Spade King cares for Lancer to some capacity. I would even say Spade King tried to be a decent father to his son, despite the circumstances. There are a few dialogue lines that hint at this, from Spade King telling Queen to bounce Lancer like a ball if he ever gets upset, to calling Lancer his "bouncy little pumpkin". So, I would say that whatever the reason, Spade King asking about his son's well-being was not out of malice or deception. The Lancer Fan Club just so happened to be the ones he asked simply because they were there.

But these are just my ideas! I may be wrong, or I may be right. Only time will tell!

it's not so much a secret she keeps but she does know that the world is so much larger than people know. emma tig knows it. dorian williams knows it. doctor saltzman knows it too.

floribeth pieced it all together with wade by her side. she'll divulge the information, but you have to ask for it. and you have to know what you're asking for.

once you know this, you can't unknow this. you'll carry the knowledge forever that there is more out there than mystic falls and new orleans and the salvatore school and malivore.

malivore is a part of the dark dimension, which in itself houses a bunch of supernatural creatures. most - if not all - of those creatures have some link or connection to the night world, an underground society consisting of night people: vampires, werewolves, witches and shapeshifters.

the night world has it's own laws and is governed by a joint council: the inner circle governs the witches and the elders govern the vampires.

(it even had it's own wars.)

it is decreed by the joint council, for instance, that blood-feasts are illegal and forbidden. none of this stops the night people from hosting such events or attending them. blood-feasts are held in black iris clubs - nightclubs and bars for any and all supernaturals - all across america. prominent black iris clubs are the ones in pennsylvania and san francisco. humans aren't allowed (except if they are the ones that will be taken to bed or exsanguinated) and one must be over eighteen - or at least look to be over eighteen - to enter.

there are several other groups active in the night world right now: - the lancers; elite vampire hunters that are stationed on the east coast. their hq is found in boston, massachusetts and they work together with triad industries. - jez redfern's gang; a gang of teenage vampires consisting of morgead blackthorn, thistle galena, raven mandril and valerian stillman. they are all stationed in san francisco. morgead blackthorn might have founded the gang but jez is leading it now. - circle midnight; one of the two official nationwide witch circles which is open to all witches. those who hold with circle midnight lean towards malevolent magic and are not the biggest fans of humans. - circle twilight; one of the two official nationwide witch circles which is open to all witches. those who hold with circle twilight lean towards benevolent magic, hold respect for life but merely tolerate humans. they will attack if provoked. - circle daybreak; a special kind of witch circle, in the sense that it welcomes everyone with open arms from fellow witches to vampires to werewolves to shapeshifters to humans. their goal is to make sure the night world and the human world live in harmony. or as close to it as they can manage. members of this circle are known as 'daybreakers' and floribeth is currently working on officially joining this circle (as she's already been working with them for quite some time now). - keller's team; an elite fighting team consisting of raksha keller, a shapeshifter; winfrith arlin, a witch and nyssa johnson, a vampire. they are considered to be circle daybreak's top operatives and are often out in the field.

due to being related to the harman family through her mother, floribeth has always been drawn to harmony, a town in virginia, coincidentally near mystic falls and grove hill which is filled to the brim with supernatural creatures and it is there that floribeth settles down eventually.

Wrote ~5200 in total yesterday, finishing two chapters, still working on Chapter VI, which will be done soon aswell.. sooo yeah..

Why is it on my playlist? Well… I suppose the title already makes it kinda obvious… buuut as I like to profusely explain things… let me tell you. ITS A) AMAZING.. B) BADASS C) exaCtly what I imagine playing in Clubs all over the fantasy world I created. I am a huuuge fan of the Cyberpunk Genre… something I never quite realised until listening to Extra Terra's music. Normally I am not huge on the umbrella term of EDM… sure I dance to it sometime and my favourite cheer-up music is absolutely (Russian) Hard Bass, thanks to my lil' brother, who showed me DJ Blyatman. Buuut.. most of the rest isn't my kind of tea.. except for this dark, rhythmic Cyperpunky music.. it's like Luminary, which blows up on Bookstagram at the moment.. it gets me to dream about a futuristic world, with huge sky scrapers, neon lights and crushing hypercapitalism.. Soo… I would give Extra Terra a lot of credit, when it comes to inspiring me~

Buuut enough of the chit chat… let's get to writing. I actually already did write half a paragraph before remembering, I hadn't faced my daily challenge.. but that's a good thing.. means the hyperfocus has finally come and the book is going to get finish…

Although… I will have to do some cleaning up and editing the stuff my alphareaders flagged, which should come first…. eat the frog and all..

The bodyguard hefted her lance, while the two attendants made a valiant attempt to user the lady away from the party that had waylaid them in the alley. Too late… the two bouncers from Ashin's, Fjinna had hired only yesterday, upon realising three people might not be enough, had closed in from behind, and now blocked the way, shiteating grins on both faces. Brutes…, the mage thought with an exasperated huf, before reaching for the veins of golden energy, thrumming just at the tips of her fingers. Air and water, best for controlling a fight. In the end she didn't want to kill a guard just doing her job. Nodding to Barn, he tightened his enormous fists on the club and barraged forward, embodying the inevitability and majesty of an Isenbergen landslide. The sharpened lance, adorned with the House Song dragon, its maw opened around the sharp blade, snapped foreward so fast, only Fjinnas affinity for messing with time, made her even realise what was going to happen. Not wanting to see her friend gutted in the high street, having to deal with some very prickly questions and Legion pursuit, the aspiring career criminal, made a snap decision to completely and utterly change the plan. Her fingers moved forward just as fast and a wall of ice rose in front of the lancers charge. By no means strong enough to stop, but sufficient to slow. Ice burst with it glacial ringing, as the guard battered through it, giving Barn the time he needed to adjust his stance from offense to defence. Still sparks flew as lance met the iron studs of his club and Fjinna surged forward. The gust, rustled through her robes as it carried her over the guard and hurled down a trio of ice spikes, hoping to sow some confusion and create more obstacles for the soldier to maneuver around.
