Beta read by @poulengp <3
ââ
It started off small.
All the shoes you left in a mess by the door now neatly stacked up, laces undone, just so they were easier to slip on. The lamp you'd accidently leave on before falling asleep, being off when you woke up in the morning. Clothes that were dumped on the floor, suddenly folded up in your drawer.
Then it got weirder.
Your purse being filled with fifty dollar bills on the mornings you worried you wouldn't have enough to afford your groceries. Some of your clothes, specifically underwear, going missing. Your phone being in the other room when you woke up. Waking up with different pyjama bottoms on.
As it got worse, you found yourself confiding in your friend. Well, a little more than a friend, but the two of you had never labelled it. The two of you sat in the corner of a local cafe, coffee warming up your hands. It was a cool autumn day, causing you to wrap up in a scarf and fluffy coat. This crimson coloured scarf had suddenly appeared in your closet, right when you needed it. It should have been wrong to wear something that had inexplicably appeared in your home, but it was cold, and what else were you to do?
"It's just getting weird. Even the leftovers in my fridge that were about to be mouldy are being thrown away. I see it in my garbage bag. And you know me, I don't even throw it out until it's literally gone blue."
Erin laughed, "You're quite careless. And disgusting." Yes, you were, but that wasn't the point!
"Shush. I'm actually worried here. I'm starting to think.. no.. no one can be breaking into my apartment every night, I'd wake up and hear them. God, I think I'm going mad." You mumbled, hand gripping tightly around the coffee mug. It reminded you of the time you'd left a cold cup of tea on the side, and had fallen asleep. When you woke up an hour later, the cup was hot, as if it had just been warmed up again.
"You've added another lock to your door, you don't even have a spare key for it. It's impossible for someone to break in. And you live on the top floor. Honey, you've been exhausted recently, it's not uncommon for people to get forgetful. You probably did those things while sleepy." Erin reassured you, placing a hand over yours.
You sighed deeply, downing the last drops of drink you had left, Erin doing the same. "Yeah, you're probably right. It's just.. strange."
â
As you entered your apartment late at night, instead of throwing your keys carelessly on a table, you decided to tuck them in the nightstand by your bed. Just to be safe, even if it was just for your own peace of mind. You jumped into the shower, cracking open the window so the steam could be let out. You lived on the top floor of your block, no one could look in, which was always a good thing because your bathroom got very steamy, recently the ceiling paper even curling at the side from the condensation. Making a mental note to look up the prices for someone to redecorate.
You really needed a shower today, you and Erin had gotten a little.. excited earlier, and it always made you cringe not showering before bed after an evening of sex. Under the warm water, you hummed a song you'd had stuck in your head all day. It was a song you didn't even recognise, in fact you weren't even sure you'd heard it before. All you knew was that it was in a different language, and it was comforting.
Once clean, you felt overwhelmingly tired, it had been a long day, so you decided to go straight to bed after having your usual cup of camomile tea, with two spoons of sugar. Then you got into bed. Before you could doze off though, you decided to read for a bit, opening up your latest novel of your favourite author. It can't have been too exciting though, because you fell asleep before the first chapter was over.
When dawn broke, the early sun breaking through cracks in your window, you stirred, blinking a few times. Something felt strange, like every morning for the past few months. You felt a stickiness between your thighs, and your pyjama bottoms were definitely not the ones you fell asleep in. You stared down at the light blue shorts, eyebrows furrowed. Were you a sleepwalker? No, your past roommates would have told you. Maybe you'd had a really good dream and just forgotten it? Fuck, this was weird.
Deciding there was nothing you could really do about the situation, you got up, opting to take another shower to get rid of the icky feeling.
It was when you were munching on your chocolate flavoured cereal that you heard your phone ping. Automatically, you put your spoon down, picking up the device you so heavily relied upon. It was a text from an unknown number, causing you to frown. Opening it, you saw there was a picture attached to the text. And when you examined it, your blood ran cold.
It was a picture of you, naked in bed. Your body spread out, intimate area completely exposed.
"What the fuck?" You whispered, reading what had come with it.
Unknown number: Three orgasms in one night, that's your record so far.
You didn't know what to thinkâ someone had.. touched you while you were asleep? They broke in and did this to you? You shivered in fear, your shaky hands typing out a response before you could even think about what the police would say if you went to them; to not engage with a dangerous person.
You: Who the fuck is this?
There was no reply. Not when you left for work, not when you arrived home in the evening.
You were rigid with fear. A sensible person would have called the police, or at least called someone like Erin, asked to stay over, but you just couldn't. Every time you were about to dial a number, something inside you made you stop. You couldn't explain it.
So here you were, sat bolt upright on your couch. It was around eleven, and your eyes were growing heavy. Your camomile tea mug now empty, you blinked a few times, just aching to lay down and rest. No, you had to stay up! You had to see who had been breaking into your home. But.. you were so tired, a sudden wave of exhaustion washing over you. Your eyes closed slowly, slumping down and falling into a deep sleep.
â
The next morning the first thing you did was check your phone, seeing if the stranger had replied, and they had. Two images attached to a message. And what you saw horrified you. The first picture, one of you in bed, with a.. strap-on, buried inside you. It made you feel sick, that someone had done this to you unwillingly. Though the expression on your face, clearly asleep but pleasure in your features. You could even see your own arousal dripping down the toy.
The second image quite literally made you throw up, You ran to the bathroom, heaving into the toilet bowl as the picture burned in your mind. It had been someone laying on a floor, covered in blood, a knife wedged in their chest.
You had to go to the police. There was no choice now. For some reason, you looked back at the picture, and your mouth dropped open. That someone was a familiar.
It was Erin.
You just knew, it was her jacket, her brown eyes wide open in fear, her blue dyed hair drenched in her own blood. It caused you to throw up again.
â
"IâI think my best friend has been murdered."
You whispered in a shaky voice to a police officer who had sat you down in a cold grey room. After seeing what you'd been sent, not even reading the message that had come with it, you rushed down to the local police station, practically screaming for someone to talk to.
"Why do you suspect this?" He asked in a gruff voice. He didn't seem to be all that serious about the situation, upsetting you even further.
"I've got pictures! And texts!" Your fingers fumbled around your pocket to retrieve your phone, opening your messages app.
It wasn't there.
"So?" The officer prompted, clearly unimpressed.
"It was.. it was right here.." You mumbled, opening every contact you had in case it had magically gotten messed up.
But no, the messages had vanished.
"Look, lady, I think you should go home and get some rest. You look tired. Our minds make things up when we're lacking sleep."
"Butâ"
"Listen, if something happens, come back in. But for now, you're making empty claims."
Hanging your head down dejectedly, you fought back tears. You knew Erin was dead. You just knew it.
â
Tonight you weren't going to fall asleep. Just to make sure, you downed two mugs of strong coffee instead of your tea. You hated it, but you couldn't risk falling asleep. The intruderâ the murderer, was going to break in, you were sure.
The time ticked on. Eleven o'clock, twelve o'clock, one o'clock..
Until your phone buzzed. Dread washed over you. There was no one else who would be making your phone light up at this time of night.
Unknown number: How am I meant to enjoy you when you don't have your tea? You look so pretty when you sleep.
This confused you. Why would they be concerned about what beverage you were drinking? You typed out a response quickly.
You: I'm not scared of you.
It was a stupid thing to say, you knew that really. But the only thing you could think of was to pretend you weren't scared. Maybe that would make them bored and leave you alone. All you could think about what Erin's lifeless body. The blood, god.. all that blood..
Unknown number: See you soon, sweetheart.
Your eyes widened in horror; what the fuck did that mean? This person was on their way? Sickness rose up in your throat, and you ran to your kitchen, grabbing the first sharp object you could findâ a medium sized kitchen knife. You clutched it to your chest, running to your bedroom, locking the door and panting heavily. You considered pushing some furniture against the door, but you knew you needed to call the police. Then you realised you'd left your phone in the kitchen.
Fuck! Fuck!
You had put yourself in the worst position possible. But before you could panic over that, you felt a gust of cold air. You frowned, turning around to see the window wide open. You definitely hadn't left it like that before, but it was also impossible for anyone else to have opened it. You lived on the top floor for Christ's sake!
Not knowing what to do first; close the window, get your phone, block the door, or just curl up in a ball and hope it would all just go away. You opted for grabbing your phone. If you could call the police, they'd be on their way, hopefully before your stalker could arrive.
Cautiously unlocking the bedroom door, you stepped out into the hallway. The lights that had previously been on, were off, leaving the whole apartment pitch black apart from the moon shining through the windows and the bedroom light.
Your steps were slow, ears straining to hear anything, but there was silence. The only sound heard was the hammering of your heart in your chest.
Until the silence was broken.
"Seeing you awake is strange. But exciting nonetheless."
The voice came from right behind you. Spinning around in horror, you finally came face to face with the person who had been tormenting you.
"Tormenting? That's a bit harsh, sweetheart."
The woman was dressed in all black, a hood covering most of her face. Light from the bedroom accentuated her figure, but more importantly, the silhouette of a knife and a cloth in her hands.
"Wâwho are you?" It was an attempt at a shout, maybe to attract the attention of the apartment below you, but your voice could barely manage a squeak.
"I've told you before, baby. You're a forgetful thing when you're asleep, mhm?" She stepped forward, causing you to take a step back.
"You've been taking advantage of me! You've been breaking into my home! You killed.. Erin!" You whispered, backing up against the wall. You had no where to go. You were most likely to die, just like Erin.
"Sweet girl, I'm not going to kill you. I could never hurt you." The woman's voice was almost softer as she approached you, only two feet away now. Was she reading your mind?
"But you killed my friend." The images of Erin's body filled your mind, and how you were going to end up just like her.
"Your 'friend'? Please, she was begging for her own life, not for you to be safe." She let out a cold laugh. "It was so satisfying, the sound of my blade tearing through her flesh and tissue." It almost sounded like she'd gotten pleasure from it
Finally, you got some sense and energy into you as she expressed her fucked up feelings. You let out a shattering scream, "HELP! HELP!"
The woman sighed in disappointment. It took her less than a second to raise the cloth up to your face, covering your nose and mouth. The smell of chemicals was overwhelming. You fought against it, until you couldn't anymore. Body falling limp to the ground.
â
The noise that woke you up was the sound of a squeaking. Your eyes wouldn't open, wondering what was going on. You then felt something inside you, a pressure building up in your lower stomach. Whatâ
Finally, your vision became clearer. You blinked a few times, looking around you. The scene became pretty clear.
The woman was in between your legs, a strap-on buried inside you, just like that photo. The squeaking was the bed as she thrusted into you.
You should have screamed, but the pressure in your abdomen was too intense. You let out a whine, trying to move your tired body, but it was useless. You didn't even want to stop it, it felt too.. good.
"You're awake." She stated, a slight pant in her voice. Her hood was down now, revealing her auburn wavy hair, pale skin and deep green eyes.
"Let me.." You trailed off, because you didn't know whether to say 'go' or 'come'.
She let out a chuckle, holding your hips firmly as she thrusted into you. The feeling was delicious. Something about the fact your body was sleepy, heavy, while being fucked by a woman so dangerous..
No! Why are you thinking like this? It almost felt like your thoughts weren't yours anymore. Were you going insane?
The woman grunted, wet noises filling the room, making it very apparent that your body did not hate this at all. "You can come for me, it'll be your third."
Your third? You couldn't even bring yourself to ask about it, your body just trembled, a pending orgasm taking over, making you whimper in delight.
"Fuck!"
Tears filled your eyes from the sheer pleasure, and the fact that you should have hated this. You were filled with so much shame and guilt. This was the person who had killed your best friend, who'd stripped you of your dignity.
"Shh, darling, you don't have to feel guilty. You're allowed to feel pleasure. And your friend, well, she was just in the way."
Her twisted words made you feel sick again, but you didn't have time to dwell on that because the woman's hand suddenly reached down and started to circle your clit while simultaneously thrusting into you. A loud groan escaped your throat, eyes practically rolling to the back of your head.
"You're going to beat your record, four times will be an achievement." Her accented voice was hot and heavy, turning you on even more.
"Iâ mhm!" You tried to speak, but you didn't know what to say.
"Let go, detka, show me how good I make you feel." She gripped your waist with her spare hand, red manicured nails digging into your skin.
Without warning, you came hard, spilling all over the strap. The woman moaned, slowing down her thrusts and eventually pulling out, leaving you unbearably empty. She slipped the strap off and went to straddle you, leaning her head down to kiss your neck. You felt utter bliss, forgetting how incredibly fucked up and sick this was.
"Seeing as this is the first time we've met while you've been conscious, I'll introduce myself. I'm Wanda." She giggled, as if nothing had just happened, and had been happening for months. Your head spun, recognising that name somehow, as if it had been spoken in your dreams.
"Relax now, sweet thing. I'll be here when you wake up." Wanda said softly, lying beside you, wrapping the duvet around your naked body. Her arm laid loosely across your stomach, hearing her breathing slow down to something calmer than before.
You didn't say anything, too busy feeling a wave of satisfaction, as awful as that sounded. It was like your mind was used to this, and that it was something you'd always wanted.
The last thing you remembered was a soft lullaby, in a language you didn't recognise. You'd heard it before, in your dreams. And it brought you great comfort.

a/n: babeeees! Hello and welcome back to another unhinged smutty one shot I have written! Hope this satisfies your needs for possessive Aemondđ€ please reblog and comment, itâs most appreciatedđ©·
A very special thank you to @targaryen-dynasty for beta-ing this piece!đ©·đ«
In the world of crimes, Aemond Targaryenâs name is enough to make men shiver in fear. The ruthless nature of him has been the subject of many late-night stories in the past few years in the filthy streets of Kingâs Landing and beyond.
The one-eyed prince they call him. The infamous second son of Viserys the Coward has built an empire solely around one thing; blood and vengeance.Â
After the murder of his fiance at the hands of his uncle, he became an untamed beast, bloodthirsty and hungry for revenge to the point that he became the god in the eyes of many â he wiped the streets off any man from his sisterâs clan, ruled on the ashes of their bones and burnt flesh.
He thrived in the newfound power, he cherished it and greedily took more and more until there was nothing left more to take. Aemond Targaryen became the head of his clan with his loyal followers doing anything to please him and keep their heads attached to their necks.
So when he finds a new sweet girl at the local coffee shop he frequents, his emotions begin to cloud his judgment or heighten it in a way.
It starts innocently; a black coffee with dark chocolate on a daily basis, a sweet smile, and âHave a nice day, sir!â Always ready for him.Â
Sweet girl, he calls you when you bring him his order and brushes his fingers atop yours when you lean down to put his coffee on the table.
He looks, he observes, and he obsesses over your every move, every step you take, every inhale and exhale. He likes watching you.
The ruthless god of the criminal world has set his eye on his new prey.
You notice him, of course you do, because he wants you to know about him, he wants you to be as interested in him as he is in you. He loves how your lips move when you question his motives; sweet girl he calls you again, telling you how beautiful you look when you work and how he desperately wishes he could take you out on a date. But he canât, not when his enemies are behind the corner, ready to strike where he is weak.
Yes, you are his weakness, and the one-eye god isnât used to it, but for you⊠oh for you he would murder, he would let his bloodlust get the best of him and commit a massacre just to see a glimpse of your smile.
He catches you crying in the corner of the cafe, mouth agape as you stare at the man who was supposed to be your date for today, lying limp and lifeless with a bullet in his head.
Sweet girl, he calls you as he brushes your hair out of your face, you look like a doll, his doll, and oh, in the pit of your stomach you feel a strange warmth because of his heated gaze. He is smiling, he shouldnât but he is, and you smile back, captivated by his nature, by his cruelty and devotion.
It feels like fresh air when you reach out to caress his dimples, how he has dreamed of your soft skin on his. The touch only makes him hungrier, a desire, a need to make you his, and he does that night. He takes you to your small apartment, giving you a pleasure like no other while you cling to him â sweet girl, my doll, he calls you, vowing in his head to protect you, and when he asks you why you do not feel disgusted by what he has done to that man, you reply:
âIâm sick of heroes. They ruin their loved ones to keep others safe. But a villain, my devil, you, will burn the city without letting a flame touch my skin.â
He is like your shadow from that day; following you around in the dark without you noticing, keeping his business up while he focuses on you. Sweet girl, he thinks, how you smile at those unworthy people, your smile should be his and his only.
The news spreads like fire; Aemond Targaryen has found a new plaything. As soon as those words fall from one of his men, others gasp and shriek, staring at the poor manâs head that has a hole carved with Aemondâs bullet.
Plaything they say, he scoffs at the thought. You are no plaything for him, you are his sun, his moon, the air to his lungs, you are fuel for his soul, and he wishes he could burn under you to show you how much you mean to him, to crumble into pieces and let you stomp over him while he basks in the glow of your face.
You are his doll, The Devilâs doll.
He knows how dangerous his world is, he understands it perfectly, and thatâs why he nearly loses himself when he finds the door to your apartment ajar with muddy footprints leading to your bedroom.
He sees red when the scent of iron hits his nose; blood, he thinks. What has happened to you? He has never felt such a strong emotion before, not for his fiance or even his sister. Now, he is shaking with fury, his knuckles white from how hard heâs gripping the gun.
You leap into his arm as soon as you spot him in the doorway, letting the knife fall from your hands while you push yourself to him, clutching his shoulders while you sob.
He sighs in relief, holding you in his arms tighter than he has ever done before. Youâre alright, his sweet girl, his doll. He listens to you intently, wiping off the tears that fall from your gorgeous eyes gently, oh you look just like a dream come true; your dress is covered in blood, a man you killed for defense lying on the floor beneath his boot.
He has never been more proud of anyone than he is of you.
He wants to show you off to the world, sick of all the hiding and lies behind the rumors spread by Rhaenyraâs clan. He needs to let everyone know how beautiful his doll is, and what a goddess he has in his arms.
He helps you get ready, keeping his hands all over your body while you try to put some clothes on, giggling and indulging him as he kisses your bare shoulders, groaning at the sight of you in black and red.
âSweet girl, I have to be the luckiest man alive to have you as mine.â He whispers in your ear, eye narrow as he takes you in again, thinking about how he could be graced by your presence.
âAnd I the luckiest girl, my love. You make me feel so happy,â you reply, spraying your perfume on your neck and collarbones, and Aemond nearly moans as he takes your scent in.
âFuck, you have to be a sorceress, I am bewitched by your beauty and smile. What have you done to me, doll? What spell have you put me under?â He attacks your neck with kisses, relishing in the small giggle you gift him.
âIâve poured a potion in your coffee every day, to make sure your eye only sees me and no other girl.â You joke, turning around in his arms to give him a soft peck on the lips, mindful of your lipstick to leave no trace on his clean-shaven face.
âDonât give me ideas, doll. I might do it just to keep you all to myself.â He grins, his dimples on display for you to kiss them, chuckling as you try to wipe the red stains off his face.
âOh, I would love that. Please do, my love,â you match his smile, lopping your arms around his neck, ânow, letâs go to this party. The sooner we go, the sooner we can leave and have our fun.â
âAnything for you, sweet girl.â He says, offering you his arm as you both walk towards the door, Aemond helping you down while you hold the long skirt of your dress in your hand, taking cautious steps to the car.
Criston nods at both of you and opens the door, waiting until the two of you are settled inside the car before he gets in himself and starts driving to the location.
Aemond was reluctant to attend this party, after all, it was hosted by one of the clans that were loyal to his sister, but his grandfather convinced him to go with Aegon and Daeron, but he declined and said heâd rather go alone with his doll.
You smile at him, caressing his ring-clattered fingers that are caressing your thigh gently, talking with Cole about what is expected of tonight; murder for sure, but he would rather not get caught up in the whirlwind of hatred he has for his sister and uncle, and most importantly, he needs to keep you safe from all the eyes of those hungry men.
The ride to the mansion is quick, and a sense of dread fills the two of you when your eyes meet. Aemond presses a kiss to your forehead to both calm himself and you before the car comes to a stop and he steps out, coming to your side and holding your hand to help you on your feet.
The moment you step inside the house, you are greeted by various couples, men, women, and people that you have no idea about. You keep your head high, squeezing Aemondâs arm as the two of you hide your discomfort behind a smile while everyone keeps staring at you.
âTargaryen,â someone calls Aemond behind you, âyou honored me with coming tonight!â You both turn around, finding Mr. Tyrell and his wife and oldest daughter waiting to greet you.
âThe honor is mine, sir,â Aemond shakes his hand, reaching to press a kiss to Mrs. Tyrellâs hand, âthank you for having us tonight. Let me introduce you to my girl,â he puts his large palm on your waist, gently pulling you closer to him as you shake and greet your hosts.
âYou certainly have won yourself a prize, Aemond.â
âNo prize is as beautiful as she is, Iâm afraid.â Your lover says, pinching your waist playfully away from the eyes of the attendees, looking at you with nothing but adoration and unconditional devotion.
âYouâre too kind, my love,â you smile, âLady Tyrell, I would love to get to know you more.â Aemond nods at you gratefully, glad that he has discussed his plans for the party with you.
Aemond watches you being led away by the ladies, letting the smile fall from his lips as he gazes back at Tyrell himself, âI hope you have good reasons for wasting my time here.â
âI do, Mr. Targaryen. I wish to introduce you to Prince Martell from Dorne.â Tyrell says, pointing at a group of men whoâre talking intensely. As soon as the two of them approach the group, they grow silent, waiting for Aemond to say something â their silence could be because of two things, either they respect him, or theyâre terrified of him.
He hoped it was the latter, for with fear there comes blind respect and loyalty.
âAh, Targaryen,â Prince Qoren Martell says, reaching to shake Aemondâs hand, âhow wonderful to finally meet the One-Eyed God of the underground. Made yourself quite the name, huh?â Qoren smirks, already sensing how his words irritate Aemond.
Aemond shakes his hand back, tightening the hold he has on him, a ghost of a sinister smile forms on his face while he stares at the Dornish man with his indigo eye.
âCanât say the same about you, Prince Qoren. What have you been doing all this time, not ruining the South, I hope?â
âYouâre funny,â Qoren laughs, tapping Aemond on the shoulder, âAh, I missed someone whoâd challenged me over stupid things, kind of feels good to have a kid like you around.â
âMind your words, Martell. He is no ordinary man, these silly little challenges will be the least of your concerns if he decides youâre not worth his time.â Barros Baratheon, ever the loyal dog of Aemond, speaks up, standing tall and proud next to him.
âPft, please, Iâm sure he knows Iâm joking!â Qoren laughs nervously this time, âbut⊠I donât think your man isnât doing great nowadays huh?â
âWhat do you mean?â Aemond asks, slapping Qorenâs hand away, âI wonder what has been said that makes you so full of yourself.â
âI donât need to say a thing, look, your pretty plaything is coming,â Martell smirks as he eyes you up, watching the sway of your hips as you walk shyly towards Aemond, feeling a bit out of place due to all the looks on you.
âEyes on me, Martell,â Aemond says through gritted teeth, anger swimming in his good eye as he watches the Dornish man look at you intently.
âAemondâŠâ he turns around at the sound of your voice, âIâve been looking for you everywhere.â
âSweet girlââ
âAh, itâs truly a shame that a beautiful girl like you wouldnât reach anywhere with being a side chick for a Targaryen.â A deadly silence falls on the group, Aemond with his ever-rising temper looks at Qoren who hasnât realized what he has truly said.
âElaborate, Martell.â He hisses, reaching to pull you closer to him, covering your body mostly with his.
âYou need a lady sooner or later, I doubt a woman from her status would be a good choice of a wife for you. You need someone stronger, with more connections, and a mind as sharp as you, not just a pretty whore to keep your bed warm,â Qoren shrugs, and a few men from his side laugh and agree with him.
Aemond presses his lips into a thin line, his fingers twitching in anger as he gazes at Qoren; he looks murderous, ready to pull his gun out and empty a bullet in that useless head of his â but heâs stopped by the sound of your sniffing.
He looks at you, his features softening immediately when he sees your teary eyes. He feels as if heâs about to die with a dagger in his good eye; the look on your face hurts him, burns his heart, and tears it into pieces. The string youâve wrapped around him tightens and tightens until he cradles your smaller face in his hand, pressing a sweet kiss to your quivering lips before his eye turn black with madness.
He pushes you behind him, and in a second, the hall is filled with screams and shrieks of horror and bullets flying around, bodies of the men who dared to disrespect Aemondâs doll are falling on the floor next to his shoes one by one.
He feels you bury your head in his blazer, gasping at the sound of yet another bullet firing into someoneâs head. Aemond doesnât blink, not even once. His blood is pumping with the urge to showcase how much heâs willing to do to keep his sweet girl happy and content.
âLet this be a reminder to all of you,â his voice echoes in the hall, âwhoever dares to say anything about my girl will face the same fate; death! Aemond Targaryen will go to a fucking war for his future wife!â With that, he holds his gun upwards to the ceiling, firing not one, not two, but nearly six bullets to make sure the hall is empty besides the corpses and the two of you.
âAemondâŠâ
âShh,â he shushes you roughly, pressing his lips into a searing kiss to yours, groaning at the sweet taste of your lips. He adores losing himself in you; in your taste, in your scent, in every ounce of attention you give him. He feels blessed to even breathe the same air as you, but kissing you⊠his heart stops every time his lips meet yours, and now, with adrenaline and anger swirling in his veins, he wants nothing but to show you his devotion â even if it comes out as a rough fucking session while staring at the men he killed for you.
His trimmed nails dig into your sides, groaning at the feeling of you melting beneath his rough touch. Aemond is a man possessed with how he handles you, strong and confident while he finds the closest table and finally breaks the kiss.
He watches how your chest heaves with ragged breaths, lips swollen, and eyes wide and hazy with lust â the perfect picture of a goddess that he has been graced with.
He turns you around, pushing you on the table until youâre bending over, looking directly at the limp bodies on the floor drowning in their own blood. He hums as his fingers caress your spine before he strikes you on your ass, humming at the feeling of the weight of your flesh under his hand.Â
He doesnât have the will to wait anymore. He drops on his knees, pushing your dress up to your hips until heâs face to face with your bare pussy; wet and ready to be devoured.Â
âGood girl,â he praises you for listening to him when he asked you earlier to not wear any underwear, âThe most gorgeous cunt Iâve ever seen, prettiest girl, my doll.â Heâs already drunk on your essence without even tasting it, thatâs how much he adores you.
He moans at the same time as you do when he finally dives in, wrapping his thin lips around your buzzing clit as he devours and eats like a starved dog, caging your hips while he takes and takes and takes from you.
Thereâs not a thought in his head, empty and filled with nothing but an urge to show you how eager he is to please and protect you, your loyal dog he calls himself.
The One-Eyed God crumbles for a simple barista girl, and not a single soul dares to say a word, for if they say, theyâll experience his rage.
Aemond is quick and messy with how his tongue laps up your wetness, creating lewd sounds that have both of your hearts racing. His fingers join his tongue, filling you up slightly and giving you the friction you need, but you know him, the only way you can come is on his cock.
You whine in agony as he leaves you aching for more as soon as he feels you getting closer, but he doesnât leave you waiting for too long. The sound of his zipper brings back your attention to him, and he chuckles in delight when he sees you wiggling yourself back to get some friction, to end this torture and gives into the temptation.
And he does; he aligns his painfully hard cock with your soaked entrance, pushing himself in with one smooth thrust that knocks the breath out of your lungs.
Long is gone the man he was a few seconds ago; he is on a mission now, fucking you until you tremble and fall from the edge of bliss, knowing itâs him pleasuring you, itâs him who will burn this blasted city for you.
âOh, sweet girl, Iâll kill thousands of men if it means I get to be inside this sweet pussyâfuck-â he groans, hands finding home on your hipbones as he quickens his pace, driving his cock in and out. Hard and fast.
The squelching sound that your wetness is making embarrasses you, and you hide your face in your arms while you squeal his name over and over again.
Your Devil has grown like ivy around your heart, covering the last untouched part of your souls that he had left untouched, and you love it, love being consumed by him.
He bends down over your back, hips snapping into yours roughly, filling you up with his length as the thick tip of him kisses your cervix while his teeth sink into your bare shoulder.
âDo you see the lengths I would go to protect you, sweet girl?â He whispers in your ear, licking your tear away with the tip of his tongue, âI will commit unspeakable crimes just to have you by my side.â
You nod at him, looping your arm around his neck to bring him down, and he compiles, bending further on your back to kiss you roughly.
Both of you are close; the knot in your stomach gets unbearable until it snaps and you moan loudly in his mouth, gushing around him as your legs shake.
He follows closely; his cock throbs deep within your core, and with one final rough thrust, he empties his balls inside you, coating your velvety walls with his thick cum, marking you as his once more.
You glance back at the corpses, smiling devilishly at how Qoren Martellâs empty eyes are still on you.
âSweet girl,â Aemond says, âyouâre untouchable now. Targaryen clan is yours to rule.â

You: You really fucked up this time Jae
Jae: I donât know what to sayâŠ
You: Maybe sorry? You never actually say sorry
Jae: Iâll be there for you both, you know that
You: Whatever Jae, you know where to send the money
You kept the last text messages you sent each other to read them whenever you felt yourself falling back into an unrealistic fantasy, just to remind you why you broke up in the first place.
You were young, he was young. 19 to be exact. It was freshman year of college and one thing lead to another and you decided to keep the baby. He wasnât against it but deep down you both knew you werenât ready for parenthood quite yet. You had 6 years of dating history with him, having met him in your first year of high school. It wasnât until you got pregnant that his personality changed and it lead him to do stupid things.
âYouâre going to be a dad soon Jae, you canât just act like thatâs not a thing.â
âWho said I wasnât? Iâm literally just trying to live my life as a normal 19 year old! Weâre not getting this age back so you canât be mad!â
He didnât understand at the time and you havenât spoken to him since you broke up to know if heâs matured in any way. You loved him and you know he loved you, but there was no way you could handle the stress of him changing so suddenly.
âCome on baby, you have to come put your shoes on nowâ you called from the kitchen as you packed the small lunchbox into a backpack not much larger.
Being a single mom was difficult but you loved your daughter enough to look past all the hardships. You worked your ass off to make sure she went to a good school to get the best education since you didnât have the luxury of staying home to teach her yourself.
She runs into the living room across from the kitchen and sits on the floor by the front door to slip on her shoes. You smile to yourself when you see sheâs getting the hang of putting them on the correct foot.
You grabbed her backpack and your lunch bag and rushed to put your shoes on as well. You checked her outfit one last time before walking out the door.
It was routine to take her inside and to her classroom, making sure she made it safely and to greet her teacher every morning.
âHi Mia! Letâs all say good morning to Mia!â the teacher waved both her hands to get the kidsâ attention.
âGood morning Mia!â they all shouted in unison and a few of them ran up to hug her.
You stopped her to exchange your goodbye kisses before she ran off with her friends. âThank you so much, I will be back later to pick her up.â You waved to her teacher as you walked toward the door.
âOf course, you have a great day!â
It was also routine for you to make a quick stop at the local cafe for a hot drink before work, usually choosing anything that goes good with two shots of espresso. When you walked in, a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg and every other fall scent filled the air, making it clear of the changing seasons.
The man in front of you stood tall and browsed the many options on the overhead menu. âMust be newâyou thought. Ever since you moved to this small town, youâve grown used to seeing familiar faces, so someone not knowing what they wanted from the menu in such a popular cafe was strange.
He was handsome from the back. Dark chocolate locks slightly slicked back minus the few strands that fell to the front and a great sense of style. He wore a simple brown turtleneck under a black jacket with black pants and shoes to match. He looked expensive. You stopped staring at him so intensely when he finally spoke up to order.
âIâll go with the pumpkin spice latte, and add two shots of espresso please.â
Funny, thatâs exactly what you planned on ordering. Great fashion sense and good taste? Now you were curious if his face matched his handsome image from the back. To your dismay, he went straight over to sit at one of the corner tables by the window, back turned toward you.
âHey, great morning weâre having! What can I get ya?â the cashier at the front greeted you as she always does, seeming to always have a smile on her face.
âUh, Iâll actually order what he didâ you pointed in the dapper manâs direction and she nodded her head as she pressed a few buttons on the screen.
âThatâll be $3.75â
You took your card out of your wallet and tapped it against the card reader. You went to sit at your favorite seat and wait for your order to be called.
âPumpkin spice latte, two shots of espresso!â
You looked up from your phone and watched the barista push two identical cups forward on the counter in the pickup area. As you approached your drink, you looked over to see the man still sitting in his seat. He must not have heard them call out the order, but taking a quick glance at your watch there was no way you had time to be a good samaritan and make it to work on time.
You picked up your latte and walked toward the door, taking one last look back to see if you would witness him getting his drink before you fully stepped out. Surprisingly, he got up from his seat and turned around to go over and retrieve his order. You felt cold, body frozen with your hand on the âpush to openâ door. Your hands were trembling, drink barely secure in them. Your heart dropped.
There he was, in the flesh. The father of your child and the man you once called âthe love of your lifeâ. You moved to this town to start a new life and get away from having possible run ins with him, but seeing as he was standing in the cafe you visited everyday like clockwork, your plan to stay hidden had been ruined. You quickly turned around before he looked in your direction and pushed the door open.
You stared at the road in a daze, driving with your limbs on autopilot. Itâs going on 5 years since youâve seen him last and could have gone the rest of your life without doing so.
You had to admit, seeing him made you realize how much he blossomed more into an adult in such a short amount of time. You missed him, but had to think of the text messages that still sat in your phone today. You could never let yourself fall down that hole again, especially for your daughterâs sake. You hated Mia not knowing her father, but it was best for now that she didnât get attached to someone who might not stay.
You parked your car in the lot, hands still gripping the steering wheel, your head falling forward on the horn. It was going to be tough getting through your shift today with the anxiety bubbling up in you. What was he doing here anyways? To you, he had no business in this small town. There was nothing too exciting about the place and it seemed to house mostly people 30 and above.
Whatever he was here for, you hoped it was only for today and you didnât have to go through seeing him on a regular basis.
4 oâclock came sooner than you expected, probably thanks to how unfocused you were all day. Right now your daughter was the only thing on your mind and you wanted to pick her up quickly so she didnât wait longer than need be.
âMommy mommy! Look, I got a sticker!â she runs up to you with her arm extended to show you the sticky image on the back of her hand.
âWooow baby, itâs so nice! Who gave that to you?â
âMrs. Burgess! She said I did really good on my writing my name today!â
You smiled and patted her on the head, picking her up and planting a kiss on her cheek.
âGreat job my Mia, mommyâs so proud! You have to show mommy how you write your name later okay?â
She nodded and wrapped her arms around your neck as you opened the back passenger door for her to sit in her car seat. After strapping her in, you slid in the front ready to get home and end the day.
âMommy, next week is parentâs day! Everyone made paper flowers for their mommies and daddies.â
âOoo a surprise for mommy? I canât wait to see it!â
âYes! I made one for daddy too so tell him to come too!â
You froze in your seat, taking a peek at her from the rear view mirror. âMiaâŠdaddyâs not here remember?â you swallowed thickly, hoping that she would skip over her mistake and leave the conversation alone.
âWhy canât daddy come this one time? I want to give daddy his flower.â
You were stumped. As much as you tried to prepare yourself for this day, your mouth was sewn shut. You didnât want to contact him, you didnât want to see him, you just didnât want to get hurt again. You werenât even sure if he had the same number if you did want to shoot him a text. You were the one to break up with him because of his antics and you were also the reason why he had never come to visit. From changing your number to moving to a whole different city, you tried to erase your identity from his memory.
It wasnât something you wanted to worry about and you hoped your daughter would simply forget by the time next week came around.
The next morning, you went back to the cafe, heart not racing until you look over at where he sat yesterday. Thankfully no one who matched the description sat there now and you considered yourself off the hook. What were the chances he had actually moved to this city and yesterday was one of many days youâd run into each other?
âHey Emma, same as yesterday please!â you smiled at your normal cashier and went to go sit in your usual spot after you paid.
âY/N?â The voice sounded unsure, cautious, in disbelief. When you turned around, his eyes matched the tone of the words that left his mouth. âOh my god, it really is you! You lookâŠgood.â
Your mind was going haywire. Jaehyun was standing merely inches away from you, looking just as good as he did yesterday in much more comfortable attire.
âHey Jae.â you said weakly, âYeah, you too.â
âI uhâŠwould have paid for your drink if I knew it was you.â He smiled his signature smile. That damn smile and those stupid dimples. It took everything in you to not slap the look off his face. âC-can you talk? Itâs been a while.â
Admittedly you didnât have to be to work for another hour and a half, so you had time since it was only 30 minutes away and traffic was still good. You were indeed curious what he wanted to talk about but didnât want it to turn out like it did the many times you played it out in your head. It wouldnât hurt to try though.
âUhhhh yeah sure.â
He smiled as if he high-fived himself for getting you to agree and he followed you back to your table after grabbing the drinks.
âHow have you been? I hadnât seen you around and now I know why.â
âIâve been good, just working. And yeah, Iâve been here. How have you been?â You looked down at your cup and let your thumbs play with the sides.
âIâve been good too. Working mostly, nothing special.â
You nodded your head and gave him a small smile, having the courage to finally look up at him.
âHowâs the little one?â he asked hesitantly but you knew it would come out eventually.
âMia? Sheâs good. Sheâs in kindergarten now.â
His eyes widened and the grip on his cup got a bit tighter. You forgot he didnât know the name you chose since you moved before you went into labor and never got the chance to discuss any of those things.
âWow, I see I missed a lotâŠâ
âYeah Jae, you did.â
âWell if you donât mind, I can change that. Iâm actually in the process of moving here in like 2 weeks. I can take her to school some days and watch her too to take something off your plate.â
Fear welled up in your chest at the mention of him taking her since it felt like he would never bring her back. âIâm actually not comfortable with that at all. Iâm not sure she needs someone so unstable this early in her life.â
He raised an eyebrow, âwhat is that supposed to mean?â
âWell I donât know Jae, I was alone my entire pregnancy so Iâm not sure I can trust you to be there for her.â
He looked down and his jaw shifted, mouth hanging from the scoff he let out. âI know what I did was wrong and Iâm very sorry about that, but you moved and changed your number before you even had her so what the hell was I supposed to do?!â
You knew he was right but you hated that he dismissed the reason you left in the first place. This conversation was a bad idea just like you thought it would be and you didnât want it to last any longer than it needed to. You stared at him with a deadpan expression and stood up from your seat. He grabbed your arm and sat you back down.
âIâm sorry, I didnât mean for that to come across so harshly. I just wanted to be there for the both of you and that wasnât the easiest thing. I know I made some mistakes but I would never leave our daughter like that.â
âMy daughter and I donât know if I can trust that Jae. I donât want to see her sad.â
âI promise you I wouldnât want to see either of my girls sad. Give me your number, I can text you when I get settled in and we can discuss this some more.â
It felt like the energy in the earth shifted while you handed him your phone. That âmy girlsâ shit you completely ignored and had no time to fall for one of his tricks. Why did it have to come to this, you not trusting anything he says?
When you got in your car and drove off, tears streamed down your face. In some way you felt defeated like he broke through the defenses that you so effortlessly built. It was scary, him reentering your life right after your daughter mentioned the parent event at school.
A week passed and you had forgotten all about parentâs day until the morning of when Mia told you ânot to forget to tell daddy to comeâ. She never worried about this man before or maybe you were so stuck on keeping him away that you didnât notice how much she wanted him around.
Ding
Jae: Hey, I just wanted to ask if you could send me some pictures of Mia? I donât want to go crazy and ask for all of them, but I wanna see her from day one.
You stared down at the text and then looked at the date. According to him at the cafe, he should be here next week and you knew heâd want to see her. You also knew that if you told him about Miaâs flower for him, heâd be over asap. Not yet you thought. Him meeting her would have to wait until he got here and until you were ready. For now, pictures would have to suffice.
Jae: Sheâs so gorgeous đ
Jae: She looks a lot like you I think but she definitely has my dimples!
The comparison made you sick. You knew it was his kid but you tried not to see his side of it. Fuck, this was gonna end so badly, you could feel it. One more week, one more week before you had to deal with whatever he threw your way and truthfully you werenât ready to catch it.
It was time to pick up Mia and attend the parentâs day event. You walked inside the classroom and smiled at all the other parents and teachers that you passed by. Seeing all the couples made you realize just how single you were and you lowkey wished Jaehyun was here to make it not feel so awkward.
Miaâs eyes lit up when she saw you and ran over with your flower in one hand and his in the other.
âDid daddy come too?!â
You chuckled awkwardly and shook your head. She looked up at you for a few seconds before bursting out into tears, shocking you and everyone else in the classroom. You quickly picked her up to shush her but her feelings were hurt and you would be trying to comfort her for a while. Your poor baby, you hated doing this to her but she didnât know how scary the whole situation was.
Maybe it was only scary for you and she would be just fine with everything if he decided to leave again. You missed him. His presence, his laughâŠhis dick. The relationship was going so strong and one small mistake messed it all up. Boys are so stupid you said to yourself while you rubbed her back and fought the tears building up in your eyes.
He never told you what day exactly he would be here but when the next week hit, your anxiety increased tenfold. He probably felt so good about himself for knowing you anticipated his call, text or even seeing him in the cafe again. You actually hadnât seen him since the last time and you guessed it was because he had a few more things to sort out before he moved.
Ding
You looked down at your phone when you heard the notification. His name shines brightly on your phone and your palms get sweaty.
Jae: Hey Y/N, I just finished moving all my stuff in. I wanted to take you and Mia out to the park this weekend if you werenât busy.
There it was. The time you knew was coming but still didnât fully prepare for. He was once again taking control of the situation and you detest not being able to gain it back.
You: Hey Jae, sure what time and which park did you want to meet at?
He turned his read receipts on for you, so you knew he checked your message almost immediately. He gave you a time and place and said to also let him know if you were down for lunch. You felt the slight warmth in your heart, feeling like you did back when you used to date. This is exactly what you didnât want to happen. You didnât want your feelings for him to come back just because he was around again because you knew it would cloud your judgement.
If he messed up again, you would have the pleasure of telling him âI told you soâ which gave you something to look forward to. When you got home and told Mia that "daddy wanted to see her", she almost went through the roof with how high she jumped. She even went to school and told all her friends about it. You had never seen her so excited for something and you hoped he didn't let her down.
When the weekend approached, you stood in front of your mirror staring at your outfit for too long. In reality, you weren't really looking at your outfit, you were stuck in another daze not mentally ready for what the day had to bring. You chose something between casual and cute just in case the park got you dirty. An oversized argyle sweater tucked in a pair of light blue jeans. As for your hair, you settled on some loose curls.
"Come on mommy, let's go see daddy!" Mia was already by the door putting on her shoes.
"Are you sure you're ready to see daddy?" you spoke to her as you straightened her clothes and added bows to her two pigtails. If she said no, you would have made up any excuse for her, but seeing how she couldn't sit still while you added her accessories meant that her backing out wasn't an option.
Ding
Jae: I'm omw there now, it's not too far from me so it won't take me long.
You: Okay, we're otw too.
You took your last deep breath before walking out the door. When you stepped out the car with Mia, she immediately ran over to get on the slide. You took a seat on the bench across from her, keeping an eye on her around all the other kids. You watched her aimlessly, thumbs twiddling as you waited.
"Hey."
You turned to see Jaehyun walking up to you with a bag in hand. He was dressed in a plain black tee covered by a burgundy cardigan, black jeans and black sneakers. God he looked so good, why did he have to be so damn fine?
"Oh hey." you smiled and waved lightly.
He sat next to you on the bench, knees touching.
"I brought Mia a gift. I'm not really sure what she likes but she always had a bear with her in her baby pics, figured she'd want an upgrade." He reached into the bag and pulled out a small plush rabbit, something you knew Mia would love. He reached in for something else, and pulled out a small box, handing it over to you. "I got you a little something too."
You raised both your eyebrows in shock and grabbed the box from him. You opened it to see a spa voucher for a full body massage and under it was a small dainty necklace with a single diamond on it. You loved simple jewelry liked this and apparently he remembered.
"Oh that's so thoughtful of you Jae, I really love it. Thank you."
He look relieved that he properly guessed what you'd like as a gift. He opened his mouth to say something but got cut off by Mia.
"Daddy! Hi daddy!" she came running over to you both when she saw him sitting next to you.
Your heads shot in her direction and you looked over at him, the biggest smile spread across his face. He opened his arms and she crashed into the hug as he picked her up and sat her on his lap.
"Hi Mia! I'm so glad to see you, you look so pretty!"
"You look pretty too daddy, I'm so happy you came! Since you didn't come to my school, I'm going to give you your flower now!"
He looked over at you confused and you felt guilty for not telling him about the special day. She reached into her bag that sat next to you and pulled out the paper flower similar to the one she made for you. His face brightened and he leaned over to grab it.
"Wow Mia you did such a great job! Daddy has something for you too!"
Her face lights up and she jumps up and down. "Daddy has a gift for me mommy!" You laugh at her excitement and nod your head. She squealed and spun around with the rabbit he gave her and thanked him multiple times in a short minute. She went over to hug him again and kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you daddy! She's my favorite!"
He laughed and rubbed her head before she sped off, back to whatever kids she made friends with.
"It's kind of unbelievable."
"What?" you didn't know what he meant but patiently waited for his answer.
"I can't believe we have a kid together and she's already this big. 5 years seems like such a long time."
"It is. A very long time actually." You caught a lump in your throat when you were forced back to the reality of the situation. Seeing him and Mia interact so well together makes you wish you could turn back time and start things off on a better foot. Jaehyun was a great guy and you knew that, but you couldn't forgive him for his immaturity back then.
You sat on top of the toilet, hands shaking and eyes watery looking at the positive result on the pregnancy test. You didn't mean for this to happen and didn't think it actually would happen. It's not like you and Jae never fucked raw, but his pullout game was usually top tier. You both got too caught up in the moment and he came in you with no hesitation. You thought everything would be fine since you immediately went to the bathroom, but the double lines staring back at you told you a different story.
You were scared, not because you didn't want a baby with him but that was a plan you made for years down the line. You were both freshmen in college and this would ultimately throw a few wrenches in both your plans. You knew he would be understanding though and that helped ease your mind some.
You: come over after the game, we gotta talk
Jae: đ uh oh babe, don't scare me like this. Is it bad?
You: not exactly...
You: just come over when you're done
There was a knock on your dorm door within the next 10 minutes and you know he stopped the game of basketball he was playing with his friends for you. Your feet dragged you to the door and you opened it, Jaehyun out of breath on the other side. His shirt was missing and sweat dripped off his body.
"What's wrong baby? Is everything okay?" he asked walking in and closing the door behind him.
You hated that the moment couldn't be better than you telling him in the living room of your slightly run down dorm. You grabbed the test out the pocket of your red pajama shorts and held it up so he could see it.
"Jae, I'm pregnant."
His eyes grew to the size of tomatoes as everything sank in and he stood there stiff as a board. You were starting to get nervous when he didn't say anything and wasn't really sure how to handle his reaction.
"Jae say something, you're scaring me..."
"I-oh my god...I mean baby I'm so happy but this is just so sudden."
"You came in me last month Jae, there was always a possibility. And you don't really look happy."
"I know baby, I know, I just didn't think it would actually happen." He pulled you into a hug a rubbed your back. "I'm happy for us, I really am and I know you'll be a great mom."
This all came as a shock to you too so his reaction wasn't far fetched. Everything that followed after is what surprised you. He barely ever spent time with you anymore and he was always out sneaking drinks with his friends. Jaehyun was never a fan of alcohol but the news of your pregnancy seemed to unleash a new side of him and you hated it.
One night a friend of his texted you to come get him because he was so drunk and feeling up on every girl at the party. It was disappointing and embarrassing, his behavior was outta control and he never had an explanation for it. You got to the party and saw him hugged up on some random girl who was taking advantage of the attention. You went over and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Ooooooooh, hey babe. I didn't know you were invited." His eyes were droopy and he slurred every word. He grabbed around your waist from the couch he sat on and leaned his head against your stomach.
You pushed his head off and dragged him by the arm, pulling hard as he resisted.
"Get the fuck off me! Why are you trying to ruin this for me?"
The words came out harshly and you couldn't help but think he wasn't talking about the party when he said "ruin". Most people stopped to look at the fight brewing between you and Jae, and you felt the heat rise in your face. Tears threatened to fall when he shoved you away again and walked off, leaving you to stand in the crowd by yourself.
It was that night you made up your mind that he wouldn't be the partner you thought him to be and you had to move on without him. That's the night the messages were exchanged and you changed your number not long after, not waiting to hear whatever shitty excuse he came up with.
As you sat on the bench with him looking at the daughter that formed from you two, you wanted things to be different. You wanted to be able to lock your fingers with his and know that he was going back to a home you shared.
All of it was as true as a pig flying. As if being able to feel the shift in energy from you, Jaehyun looks over and watches how you watch Mia in a daze, eyes showing sadness heâs never witnessed. He wanted to pull you in for a hug, kiss your forehead and rub your back but he knew the reason behind that sadness was him.
He hated what he did to you and how he acted. Everything was just so sudden and truthfully it scared him. The idea of being a dad but the expectation of being a GOOD dad. He was fucking terrified and he made the wrong decision of trying to drink and party his fears away.
Before he could apologize you were already gone. Dropped out as if school no longer mattered, or most importantly, him. He loved you more than words could describe and he messed it all up, possibly never having the chance of getting it back. Not being able to handle the sorrow you tried to conceal, he suggested you all went for lunch since Mia had been playing continuously for the hour you had been here.
âCome on Mia, letâs go eat withâŠletâs go eat.â you stopped yourself from referring to him as âdaddyâ simply because youâre not sure how long this relationship would last and it would feel weird calling him that all of a sudden.
Mia runs over and grabs Jaehyunâs hand and looks up at him with a wide smile. He looks down and returns the smile and tightens his grip. He looked good as a dad and it was something you never doubted, just unfortunate circumstances that made you think otherwise.
âYou guys can ride with me and I can just bring you back here to your car when weâre done. Is that okay?â He looks at you as he stands at his car, hand resting on the roof of the driverâs side.
Before you could speak, Mia shouted excitedly that she wanted to ride with him so there was no way you could say no especially since you werenât ready to have him be alone with her.
He smiled and jogged over to the passenger side where you thought heâd be opening the door for Mia but opens your door instead. You turned around to thank him as you got in, but he was already buckling her in the backseat. It felt weird not being the one to drive around wherever you needed to go but it felt nice at the same time. Being a passenger princess eased your mind some and you felt like a chore had been crossed off your list.
âEveryone buckled in?â He hopped into the driverâs seat and looked in the rearview mirror at his daughter before looking at you and you give him a nod.
You kept your eyes on the road as best as you could but they would occasionally slide over and watch him drive. You rolled your eyes for constantly letting his looks distract you. You couldnât help but notice how much more toned his body seemed under his clothing, and remembering how your nails would dig into his back while he roughly thrusted into you.
Ugh. You clenched your jaw and shooed the image in your head away, sitting in silence for the remainder of the ride. When he pulled into the parking lot, his arm instinctively reached behind your seat to boost him up high so he could see as he parked. You didnât expect to blush so hard, but having him this close and smelling his cologne had you sidetracked.
âDaddy youâre a good driver, Iâm going to drive like daddy when I get big!â Mia exclaims when Jaehyun opens her door and unbuckles her.
He chuckled and smiled as he picked her up, âThank you baby, daddy will teach you okay?â
He carries her to the door of the restaurant and opens it for you. When you enter, you can feel his eyes watching you. After sitting down and ordering, there was a slight awkward silence besides the few times Mia would think of something she wanted to tell him. You and Jae ordered pasta and Mia wanted a sandwich.
"Daddy can you cut my sandwich please? It's too big." She pouted as she pushed her plate closer to Jaehyun's side of the table.
"Mia, honey you have to do some things yourselfâŠâ
He waved his hand dismissing whatever you just said. âNo itâs okay, Iâll cut her sandwich for her especially because she asked very politely, good job Mia.â He patted her head and grabbed her plate.
Just watching their interactions showed you just how much Mia is falling in love with being around him and you canât help but want to cry. You want this relationship between them to work, you donât want her to feel the sadness you did. A part of you also wants you and Jaehyun to work but you brushed it off as a rekindling feeling because you havenât been with anyone like this in a long time.
âHowâs your food? I saw this place had good reviews so Iâm hoping it lives up to the expectations.â
âOh, itâs actually really good. Iâve never been here before so it felt nice to try somewhere new.â
âOh really? How come youâve never come here?â He leaned forward, chin resting in the palm of his hand, attentive and ready to listen.
You stared at him for a second. Gosh heâs so gorgeous, you see why you started dating him in the first place. But it was this moment now, the way all his attention was focused on you that made your heart flutter and you suddenly felt 19 again. He had always been so good with listening to whatever problems you had and never made you feel like you couldnât talk to him. You missed that and with the lack of friends in the past few years, it felt good to have an adult to hang out with.
Being a single mother made you have to put in the extra work so you never stopped to make friends. It was your fault but it didnât help knowing that you were only overworking yourself to keep your mind off of him. You wanted him to hug you, hold you tight and tell you everything was okay. That all the years you spent apart were worth it and necessary.
âUh, I donât know. I guess I usually just donât have time for myself.â
âYou donât hang out with your friends?â
You smiled awkwardly. âIâŠdonât have any friends. Iâve been working a lot since Mia was born, so I donât really have time to make friends. And I also donât have a babysitter nor would I trust a random person to watch her.â
Although he tried to hide it, there was a gloominess in his eyes as he listened to you. "I understand and I'm sorry you went through so much. I'm serious when I say I will always be here for the both of you no matter what. I lov-I care about you and Mia so much and would never do anything else to hurt you. I promise." He grabbed your hand that rested on the table and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
You caught how he almost said he loved you. Did he really or was he just saying that to make you trust him? The feeling felt foreign after so many years and you werenât sure how to handle it.
âI had fun today daddy!" Mia rushes over to hug him and he picks her up and squeezes her tight.
"Aww I'm so glad you did, daddy had fun too. I'll come see you and mommy again soon okay?" He put her down and watched her run back to you. He walked over to hug you also, hesitating a bit but went through with it when you didn't back away.
It was more like a side hug because he didn't want to make you uncomfortable, but it was a hug nonetheless. You surprised yourself letting him get so close but even with the 2 seconds his arm wrapped around you, it felt so nice to be in his arms again. He was softening the walls you built up and it made you feel stupid for letting it happen so quickly.
"Thank you for taking care of her for so long, you're such a good mother. I'm going to keep my promise to the both of you, I'm very serious about this. You have my number, so don't hesitate to call me and ask for anything. I'm right here and from now on I will always be here."
You bit on the inside of your lip and focused your gaze toward the ground. You weren't sure if you wanted to slap him then hug him or just hug him. You waited this long to have someone by your side to make you feel like you weren't alone in all this but it still made you feel so uneasy, and truthfully it was stressful. You were going to trust him this time and see where it got you, already preparing yourself for the worst.
In the next few weeks, he kept in touch to either check on you and Mia or to ask if you needed anything from him. You were growing soft to him, falling in love with him all over. You felt like you were finally getting the attention you'd been missing all this time and it felt weird knowing it was coming from him.
Today, he was coming over to help with grocery shopping. You told him he didn't have to but he insisted on helping and carrying the groceries in the house so you wouldn't have to move a muscle.
"That's what I'm here for" he said when you told him you'd been doing it by yourself this whole time. "You don't have to worry about that type of thing anymore with me here."
Shopping went well until some jerk decided to hit you with his cart because you stood in front of something he wanted.
Jaehyun went over and shoved him on the shoulder. "Whatâs wrong with you man?! You couldn't just say excuse me?!"
The man went to shove Jaehyun back but he slapped the guy's hand away before it connected. "Maybe tell your stupid girlfriend to read the room and not stand in front of stuff, asshole."
"Hey man, watch your mouth around my daughter and don't talk about my girl like that.â He took a step closer to the man. âYou better apologize before I fuck you up."
A blush painted your cheeks hearing the conversation between the two men. You looked over at Mia whose lip was pouting as she tried not to cry. You hurried to the front of the cart and hugged her against your chest to shush her. They argued continuously and you saw Jaehyun's hand ball into a fist. You went over and rubbed his arm to hopefully ease his anger.
"Jae it's not worth it, people like him don't deserve your time.â
His jaw clenched and his fist unclenched. He goes to turn around and the man says one last thing to tip Jaehyun over the top.
"Yeah man listen to your girlfriend, she's a keeper. If you don't fuck her, I will."
Jaehyun turns around and punches the man in the face, causing him to stumble back against the shelves. Both you and Mia scream and you stop Jaehyun from landing another punch. Security comes to further break up the fight and ask about what happened. Thankfully there were witnesses who vouched for Jaehyun and the guard let him off the hook while escorting the belligerent man out the store.
Jae went back to pushing Mia in the cart and thumbed away her drying tears. "I'm so sorry Mia, daddy didn't mean for you to see him that way. He doesn't like for anyone to say bad things about his girls." He looked up at you and offered an apologetic smile.
Back in the car, you noticed his knuckles slightly bruised as his hand rests on top of the gear shift. You looked up at him and could tell he was still slightly annoyed by the situation from earlier. You placed your hand on top of his and his expression softened.
"Thank you for earlier, for protecting us. I don't want you getting yourself into trouble over anything like that though."
"Y/N I know, I'm sorry. I just couldn't handle him talking about you like that."
"Jae...I'm not even your girlfriend though."
"You're special to me and the mother of my child, so it doesn't really matter." he says as he backs into your driveway. He looks back at you, slightly leaning onto your armrest. "Don't ever think that someone will be able to talk crazy about you in front of me."
You quickly avoided his gaze and unbuckled your seat belt. "I have to get her inside so she can eat and get ready for bed, it's late."
He sighed to himself and pressed the button to open the trunk. "Okay I'll get the bags, just get Mia and open the door for me."
He helped you bring in all the bags and even put the groceries away. This was his first time being in your home and it truly felt odd.
"Daddy, are you going to stay and eat dinner with me and mommy?"
He stopped playing with her and looked up at you, who looked back at him.
"Uh, I'm pretty sure mommy is sleepy baby, maybe another time? You have to get to sleep soon after you eat."
She pouted her lips and looked at you. It wouldn't hurt to have him stay since he was so nice and helpful today.
"No, I'm actually fine and I would love to repay you for your kindness. Stay with us for dinner Jae."
He looked down at Mia and they both smiled. He kissed her forehead and got up to come into the kitchen with you. "Well at least let me help with dinner." He grabbed your waist and slid past you to get to the fridge. "Lemme know what you need and I'll cut, chop or whatever else for you."
For dinner, you made chicken parmesan and caesar salad. He did a lot of the prep work and set the table after. You caught yourself blushing a few times having him stand next to you and from the overall interactions.
"Come on Mia, let's eat!" you had to get her attention since she was fully focused on whatever storyline she made up for her dolls.
"It smells so good mommy, I'm so hungry!"
Jaehyun chuckled and you smiled at her compliments. "Well daddy helped too so you have to tell him that too."
Her mouth formed a small "oh" and her eyebrows stood in shock. "Daddy's a chef!"
You both laugh at her choice of words and get settled at the table, ready to eat. Dinner was a success, everyone had perfectly clean plates and bowls. Maybe it was because you were happy, but dinner just tasted so much better. Maybe you should have him over more often.
"Daddy...do you love mommy?" The sudden question from Mia made both you and Jaehyun quickly look up at her, you almost choking on the drink you were sipping.
"Why do you ask Mia?" Jaehyun is the first to speak up after the slightly long silence.
"Well...you always tell me you love me but you never say it to mommy and mommy never says it to you. But you should love each other because that's just how mommies and daddies are."
He chuckled nervously, unsure of how to respond. He cleared his throat when he felt your eyes on him, waiting to see what he would tell her.
"Yes...I do love mommy. I will always love her so don't you worry okay? Come on, let's go get ready for bed. I want to say goodnight to you before I go."
He got up from the table and took her in the bathroom so she could brush her teeth. You leaned forward, elbows resting on the table. You wanted to pull your hair out. Knowing he still had feelings for you made this so much harder. You loved him too, you know you did and you never doubted it. It was just still so hard to accept that he wouldn't do anything to mess up whatever you had now.
After cleaning the dinner dishes, you went and sat on the couch and opened a bottle of wine you had stored for a few months. You set down your glass and pulled out the cork. You weren't much of a drinker, but tonight you were in need.
You turned around when you heard the door to Mia's room close and saw Jaehyun tiptoeing away from it. He put his finger to his lips to tell you to stay quiet.
"She's asleep, she was so tired." He came around and sat on the couch with you, eyeing the bottle of wine on the coffee table. "Mind if I stay for a drink?"
You shook your head and pointed to the cabinet containing the glasses and he grabbed one before reclaiming his spot on the couch. You both sat in silence having finished your quarter full glasses a while ago. You looked in the direction of Mia's room and looked back at Jaehyun, both of your elbows resting on the back of the couch.
"You mean a lot to her Jae, I can see how much she loves spending time with you."
"What about you?"
The question threw you off guard but you should have expected it after he confessed his feelings at the dinner table. "What about me?"
"Do I mean a lot to you? I know I messed up a lot in the past, but I'm really trying Y/N."
Your eyes met his again and if there was one word that would describe the way he looked at you, it would be genuine. You knew he was telling the truth and you knew he expected an answer.
"I-I...I don't know Jae, honestly this whole thing has been terrifying and I can't help but want to keep my guard up. I've been so alone these past few years that accepting you back into my life scares me so much. I just don't want to be alone again..."
He grabbed your face in his hands and softly kissed your forehead. "I know, I know and I'm sorry. My babygirl didn't deserve that and I really want to make it up to you. Just trust me and let me take care of you and Mia, let me be in your life again. Please."
You felt stuck, stuck in between wanting to hate him and wanting to let him love you, leaning more toward the latter. Perhaps it was the tiny bit of wine in your system, definitely not enough to get you drunk, but enough to give you confidence.
You leaned forward and kissed him, heart beating fast enough to power a machine. When you leaned back, he looked at you with an unreadable expression. The alcohol immediately left your bloodstream and your face burned with embarrassment.
"Jae I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-"
He pulls you back into the kiss, hand dragging you in by the waist. He put his all into it and you were starting to feel dizzy. The last time you kissed him was before you had Mia, so to say the kiss had your body heating with lust was an understatement.
He tugged at you and pulled you into his lap, your arms immediately wrapping around his neck. His hands were everywhere, never stopping in one place for too long. He slid his hands under your shirt, playing with your boobs for a quick second before tossing the shirt over your head. He broke the kiss and looked at your chest like a kid in a candy store. You wanted to cover them with your hands, but he slipped a hand behind your back to unclasp your bra before you could.
Your breasts fell free and he wasted no time in letting his lips wrap around your nipple. His hand came up to massage the other one and your hands came up to tangle in his hair. After not being with him for so long, you forgot just how much you missed the sex with him. He was always a giver and always made sure you came even if he didn't. Eventually his hands traveled down your back and landed on your hips. He rolled his hips up into you and you both moaned into the kiss.
You reached down between your bodies and palmed him through the pants he wore. He ground up into your hand and you felt just how hard he was. As you began to fiddle with the waistband, he shifted and eased you down onto the couch as he moved between your legs.
"Jae-"
"Shh shh baby, let me take care of you tonight. Let me show you how much I missed you."
He kissed his way down your stomach, placing a kiss on each side of your hip bones. He slipped off your skirt and panties in one go, a string of your arousal sticking to your underwear.
"Fuck, you're so wet..." He bit his lip and dragged a finger through your folds, playing with the slippery mess between them.
He bent down to connect his lips to your pussy. He made a few circles around your clit with his tongue, earning moans from you, before slipping a finger in. You gasped and your hips bucked involuntarily. He moved them faster and faster, holding your thigh down with the hand not in use. You can tell he was enjoying this just as much as you were with his heavy breathing and the way he slightly humped the couch beneath him.
He then used the hand holding down your thigh to rub circles on your clit as his tongue joined his fingers.
âJae, Iâm so close!â
Your legs tried closing but he used his elbows to stop them.
âCum for me baby, let it out.â The vibrations of his voice sent shockwaves through your nerves.
The simultaneous stimulation sent you over the edge and your toes curled almost cramping your foot. He brought his hand up to his mouth and sucked his fingers clean, never breaking eye contact.
He moved up your body to trap you in another kiss, this time your hand finding a way to his nether regions. You dipped your hands into his pants and into his underwear to stroke his length. He stopped focusing on the kiss for a few seconds and rutted into your hand.
âJae, please fuck me while my mind is clear.â
He quickly removed everything from the waist down and now you both lay naked on the couch. He tapped his dick on your clit and rubbed it through your folds a few times to get it wet. He eased into you and cursed under his breath. Itâs been so long that you forgot just how big he was, stretching you to new lengths but it felt so good.
âFuck, youâre so big.â
âDid you forget already?â he laughed with his brows furrowed as he concentrated on not cumming too quickly. âFuck youâre so fucking wet.â
You grabbed onto his biceps as he got balls deep, feeling so stretched and full. You moaned when he started thrusting into you slowly, bucking your hips to match his speed. He grabbed onto your waist and sped up his pace, skin slapping against each other.
âFuck Daddy that feels so good~â you tried to stop your eyes from rolling back from the pleasure.
âShit, if you call me that again I might get too rough.â
You looked up at him through hooded lids, his lip caught between teeth as he tried to keep it together. But you didnât want that, you wanted him to fuck you into an empty headspace. You wanted to forget everything heâs ever done wrong and trust him as he is now.
âFuck me harder Daddy, donât hold back.â You wrapped your legs around his waist and you could see the switch in his eyes.
He pulled out of you and flipped you over with ease. Now you laid in a âface down ass upâ position ready to take whatever he gave you. He rubbed his hands up and down your body, grinding his dick against your folds.
âGosh I missed this pussy so muchâŠâ He lined himself up and slammed back in making you gasp.
This angle and the speed he chose truly did make you feel like he was fucking your thoughts away. By this time you were basically screaming, not able to make full sentences. He grabbed a handful of your hair and pulled you up as he bent down and whispered in your ear.
âNot too loud, you donât want Mia to wake up and hear how much of a slut you are.â He tugged on your hair harder and thrust into you harder, your moans getting louder. He landed a slap on your ass and covered your mouth with the other.
âFuck Jae! Iâm gonna cum!â You tried moving your body forward to give yourself some time to breathe, your heart pumping like you were on a treadmill.
The hand over your mouth slid down and wrapped around your throat and he was back at your ear.
âStop running and take this dick. Let Daddy fuck the stress out of you.â He reached down with his other hand and rubbed harsh circles on your clit. He felt your walls squeeze around his girth and he knew you were close and he wasnât too far himself. âCum for me baby, I know you want to.â
âOh god Jae! It feels so fucking good~â
Your toes were curling, your walls were clenching and your vision was dimming. Your orgasm was approaching quickly and you knew it would be mind blowing. His thrusts were getting sloppier so you knew the way your pussy sucked him in had his head spinning.
âFuck, where you want my cum baby?â
âInside Jae, please!â You knew you hadnât been on birth control in a while but something in you made you feel safe enough to choose the most dangerous answer.
He loved fucking you raw, but getting to also cum inside did something to him. Telling him that seemed to power his thrusts, they were now like he wanted to split you in half.
âMissed Daddy so much you want him to fuck another baby in you?â His hips were starting to stutter, you felt way too good around him. âFuck, please cum with me, cum all over me baby. God you feel so good around my dick.â
His hand moved from your clit to go up and squeeze your nipple while he bit down on you shoulder. The mixed pain and pleasure pushed you to your orgasm and you squeezing around him pushed him to his, both screaming out each otherâs name. He pulled out and watched his cum drip out of you, the sight alone could make him hard again.
Him inching out of you was just as euphoric but your body had no strength to keep itself up for another round. You laid there evening out your breaths with a smile spread across your face. You heard him shuffling around behind you and eventually he came back with a warm towel to clean you up.
He placed gentle kisses down your spine and rubbed where he left a handprint on your ass. âIâm sorry if I was too rough.â
âYou were rough, but you know thatâs how I like it.â You chuckled and built up enough strength to sit up and look at him. He looked amazing all fucked out and sweaty, you wanted to pounce on him again. âThank you for helping to ease my mind.â
âI want to do that for you more often, I wanna be your man again Y/N. Iâm sorry for everything I said and did to you to make you feel like I didnât love you anymore. I love you so much and I will spend the rest of my life making sure you know that.â
You quickly wiped the tears that threatened to fall and looked away from him. He pulled you into a hug and rubbed your head and back. You wrapped your arms around him and fully embraced the hug. There was no holding back now, you accepted him and was ready to give him another chance.
âDonât go, stay with me tonight.â
âOf course baby, Iâm never leaving you again.â
Over the next few months, Jaehyun frequented your home, whether it was to run errands with you, drop Mia off from school or just to spend time with the both of you. There were days you also spent nights at his place. The sex was also constant. No matter where or when, he would have you bent over or pinned up against something as he slammed into you.
You loved every second of it, having him by your side on the daily again. He often brought you and Mia around his job to meet his coworkers whenever they had events, even making friends with one of the other families who had kids around Miaâs age. He showed you off like an art piece, one that only he possessed. You were his to keep and everyone else barely had the privilege to look.
âHey baby mama, so the office is having a party to celebrate the collab of our international partnership and I want you to come with me.â He stood behind you with his arms wrapped around your waist, peppering kisses on your neck as you stood making your cup of tea.
âHaha ew Jae do not call me that. Of course Iâll go baby, when is it?â You turned around and wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him.
He sighed happily. âI will never get tired of your kisses babygirl. Itâs next week and it starts at 8 and I know youâre worried about a babysitter for Mia, but Tracy said she could watch her because she didnât want to go.â
It didnât hurt to let her watch Mia, this would be the first time you and Jae did something together without her. You thought about it for a few seconds more then nodded your head. He smiled brightly and kissed you again.
The venue was classy and you understood why Jaehyun told you to get so dressed up. You didnât have anything to wear so he took you shopping the day before to get everything you needed. With him by your side, you felt like a billionaire. You wore a long black draped collar dress that was made with a sparkly fabric, a slit going up your right leg.
Jae loved it on you, bending you over in it when he came to see it on you in the dressing room. Speaking of him, he wore a plain black suit with a matching tie and white button down. He looked good and with the way his hand kept rubbing your ass, you knew heâd take you somewhere later to fuck you.
Everyone commented on how great you two looked as a couple as you walked to your table. The event wasnât very long so there were only standing tables with drinks and small hors dâoeuvres. His boss stood in the middle of the large open space and tapped the microphone to get everyoneâs attention.
âFirst and foremost Iâd like to thank everyone for coming. Today we celebrate the long awaited partnership with Korea in order to expand our company. It is thanks to all of you that we were able to achieve such a wonderful thing and hopefully we continue to grow.â He turns to look in the direction of you and Jaehyun. âWe have also gathered here today for something else special, so if you would all please turn your attention this way.â
You were confused and when you went to turn and ask Jaehyun what was going on, you looked down and saw him on one knee. Your eyes widened and you covered your mouth with your hands. You blinked back as many tears as you could while he spoke.
âBabygirl, I know weâve gone through some rough times, you more than me, but Iâm going to continue to keep my promise to you and Mia for as long as I live. You are my sunshine, my rock, my everything and I love you so much. You are the one I want to spend the rest of my life with, not as your boyfriend but as your husband. Y/N will you marry me?â
There was no fighting off the tears this time and you nodded your head as you continued to say yes. The whole room filled with cheers as he placed the ring on your finger and stood up to pull you into a kiss. You hugged him tight and his hand rested on the small of your back.
âYay mommy and daddy are going to get married!â
Shocked, you turn around and see Mia all dressed up. You look up and see Tracy waving at you from the other side and you wave back. Jaehyun picks Mia up and holds her between the both of you.
âSee, daddy told you he would love mommy forever.â

Word Count: 1.2K (Not Edited)
Thereâs something mysterious about that man.Â
Yes, it may have to do something with his gigantic size and almost too wide shoulders. Or the fact he always looks like heâs a second away from shoving the next person out of the way. Oh and how can you forget the part where he has only said the same seven words to you since heâs been here. Medium coffee, black. Add one of those. Then he proceeds to point at the display at the one pastry you can never sell out. No thank youâs, pleaseâs, how are youâs. He quite literally only says those seven words and then grunts at any of your questions. Heâs only ever said one extra word to you, which was his name the first time he visited because he paid in cash.
Honestly, you find him very intimidating. Heâs the only reason that non-selling pastry is still available. Usually, youâd have it removed and replaced with another item. But you absolutely dread the idea of him being pissed at you for removing the only other item he gets daily. Plus, you donât want your existence to be reduced to three words. So, itâs here to stay. You just make it in the smallest batch possible and then give the extras, along with other leftover pastries, to the local soup kitchen to give out the next day. Even then, youâre pretty sure they end up throwing away the pastry at the end of the day since no one wanted it.Â
Nonetheless, itâs only right to give back to the community around you. No matter what gets eaten or not. At least they get the choice to decide if they want to try it. Itâs better than throwing out all the food when you know there are people who could need it. Mondays are always the busiest days, so you make sure to make a little extra pastries and food to be able to give a pleasing amount to the kitchen. As you stuff the last of the remaining pastries into the box, you close it up and stack it on top of the first box. You pull on the handles of the bag under everything, having them securely supported for easy carry. You grab your canvas bag from the backroom, checking your prep in the fridges and freezers one last time before getting ready to leave. You grab the bag of pastries as you make your way to the back door, once again thankful that you donât have to lock it since itâs not accessible from the outside.Â
As you begin to walk down the small stone steps and out of the small indent on the street, something behind you rattles. You jump slightly, hand tightening on the bag as you turn around quickly. The hairs on the back of your neck stand as you squint into the darkness, trying to spot something. You slightly relax as nothing seems out of the ordinary. Perhaps it was a stray cat or even a mouse. The thought makes you scrunch up your nose and you begin to turn around again so you can make it to the shelter before it closes its doors for the night.Â
You instantly scream as you come faced to face with a man in a ski mask. He instantly covers your mouth, pushing you against the back door. You almost trip as youâre forced to walk up the steps and your body tenses as it hits the door. You feel something cold and metallic against your side, eyes widening as you attempt to look down. Itâs hard with his hand covering part of your face and it takes him shaking you and slightly banging your head against the door to realize heâs speaking to you about money and jewelry. You can feel your hands trembling, tears welling up. You almost want to sob and yell when you notice another figure approaching behind the man.Â
Oh how perfect, thereâs two.
But youâre surprised when the figure grabs the manâs shoulder, revealing the almost shiny blue and red of a familiar costume. The man is quickly yanked off of you, and you take a sharp inhale now that your mouth is uncovered. You watch the commotion with wide eyes as the figure- as Spiderman- quickly disarms the mugger and pulls out makeshift handcuffs. The man struggles in them as he sits at the heroâs feet. Spiderman makes no notice to him, instead focusing on a floating screen as he reports the incident via an anonymous tip for the police station.Â
Youâre still struggling to wrap your mind around what just happened when the Spider turns to you, âYou okay?â
You blink rapidly, nodding almost numbly, âUh, yeah⊠I think. Thank you.â
He gives you a grunt and if you had a clearer mind, you might have recognized it. As the hero turns to leave you call out. He lets out another grunt of displeasure, but you pay little attention to it as you set the pastry bag down and pull out the box from the top.Â
âTake one. Theyâre leftovers from today, but theyâre still good. Consider it my thank you.â
You open the box and peer inside of it as you present it to him. Itâs full of small sandwiches, a few different flavors of bread slices, and in the corner there are few of Miguelâs usual pastries. You expect the spider to go for one of the sandwiches, but your eyes widen as he takes three of Miguelâs pastry. You stare at the spot they had been in the box before staring at the hero. There is simply no way.
Your eyes study the hero, taking in his build for the first time. Enormous height and wide shoulders. Same posture and same pastry. Surely, it couldnât be a simple coincidence. You slowly close the box, holding the sides of it tightly as the hero starts to deport. You stare after him in astonishment, even as the sound of police cars start sounding and two officers rush into the alley to find the tied up mugger and you.Â
There is simply no way.
You show up early the next day to the bakery. You take care making everything, letting them cool slightly before putting them in the display cases. Once the doors open, the usual morning rush spews in, and you spend the next two to three hours serving customers. As per usual, he comes right as the morning rush ends, and you feel a giddiness as he walks up to the counter.Â
âMedium coffee, black. Add one of th-â You smile widely when he pauses.
His eyes are trained to his pastry. Today it looks different. In the center of the flakey dough there is a cut out of a spider, revealing the filling inside. He squints at it, leaning his face closer to the glass to view it. When he looks up to you, he can see the knowing glint in your eyes and the teasing smirk on your face. He sighs, something between displeased and amused before he stands up straight again.Â
âAdd one of those.â He finishes his previous sentence, pulling out his card to pay.Â
âSure thing,â You smile, approving the transaction before turning around and getting started on his coffee. â...Spiderman.â
From the grunt behind you, you know he heard.

â through letters âsometimes, love creates a poet.â
words werenât enough to explain their love for you, but putting some action into it might help. day and night, they put their admiration for you into sweet, beautiful words they wished would help them explain what you had done to their hearts. though they knew those words could never explain even a third(1/3) of what their heart ached to say. once, twice, even thrice a week youâd arrive to school/work with a little note under your desk, locker, or even in your lunchbox. letters filled with toe-wiggling poems, songs, and beautiful paragraphs which overflowed with love in every single line started piling up in your room. they wondered what you even did to their letters, were they rotting away in the trashcan? were they turned to dust by the fire you lit in your backyard? or were they kept safely in a small box under your bed, a heart encircled on its cover? little by little, they added clues to their identity, whether it be a flower which was related to them, or a little trinket from your past encounters. one day, they handed you a letter by hand, after of course getting you on a whole treasure hunt to find out where to go. that little adventure led you to a garden. with you sweaty, stressed out, and confused, they confessed right there.

it took them a while to understand what was happening, the way their hearts beat faster at your mere presence, the way the curve on your lips seemed to infect their own, the way they always couldnât wait for the next day purely because of you. after hours of staring at the ceiling, they came to a conclusionâit was love. that was all. you werenât some sorcerer who snatched their heart, nor were you a weirdo who spiked their drink, you were you, and apparently, they liked that. ever since their âawakeningâ they started doing little things for you. whether it was returning one of your pens they saw on the floor, or refilling your water bottle whenever you were too focused on works/studies. all these little things came unnoticed by you, but they knew they were making a difference
day by day, the spark between you grew. smiles were exchanged as you made eye contact, now, they werenât afraid to do things for you in the dark, now they could step out of the shadows, and help you as they were. their confession was abrupt, and unexpected at that. as they stood in front of your desk, they held out a singular rose.

well, until now, of course. they got news to spread around town that they got a lover and that theyâve been spotted at the local cafe which may or may not have caught your attention. now, they stood there, bouquet in hand(coffee in the other) and friends all around.

they would have confessed rather stupidly. having gone to a bar in the evening with their friends, they called your number(which they got after getting down on their knees and begging) and confessed right there, their voice slurred, it was obvious how many glasses they chugged down. the next day, they remembered absolutely nothing, it took you a few days before finally confronting them about it.

When The World Is Free: Chapter 2 - Â La Valse de Paris
MASTERPOST PREV | NEXT
Pairing: Benedict Bridgerton x fem!reader, WW2 AU.
Warnings: none
Word Count: 1.7k
AuthorsNote: Chapter 2 of new multi-chapter fic based on a request by the lovely @amillcitygirl! Please see the masterpost for a synopsis of this story. This details our reader settling into Paris and the outbreak of war. Benedict turns up next chapter. Thanks to @colettebronte for beta reading. Enjoy! <3
Paris, September 1939
Your first few weeks in Paris are a delightful blur.Â
Spending late summer exploring the city - with SolĂšne as your occasional guide and Eloise when she is not at work. You soak up every moment, from the windswept magnificence of standing atop the Eiffel Tower, your words being stolen by the wind, to the monastic silence of the Louvre on a quiet Monday morning. And everything in between - from Notre Dame's atmospheric incense-laden gothic darkness to the airy, resplendent glass dome of Galeries Lafayette that glitters like a prismatic jewel even on cloudy days.Â
But perhaps your favourites are the little slices of city life: sitting watching the world go by at a corner cafe, the crunch and warm, pillowy softness of the first bite of freshly baked baguette as you wander back from the boulangerie, the lingering fragrance of the rose garden at the ChĂąteau de Bagatelle in Bois de Boulogne... It's all pieces of a puzzle that fill your heart in ways that make your life before now seem drab, almost in black and white, like a photograph.
You have written to Stanley once since you arrived, effusive in your praise, a homily to your new home, however temporary. While proclaiming his happiness for you, his response tempered, a touch dismissive of your wonderment. I can scarcely believe any city could truly live up to the praise you so readily heap upon Paris, my love, he wrote back. That was a week ago, and your urge to reply has been muted.Â
It's during an idle lunchtime by the Seine, eating a sandwich as you dangle your feet over the river wall, that you genuinely feel a local. An elderly French couple, likely visiting from the provinces, approaches you and asks you for directions to the MusĂ©e de l'Homme. Part of you aglow they think you sophisticated enough to look Parisian, and French. And you are able to help them, giving them the information in French, not fluent but sufficient that they are surprised when you confess âje suis amĂ©ricaineâ.
In your third week, you secure the art gallery job Eloise had seen posted. An opportunity to meet many new people, primarily British and American, who share your love of art of all persuasions. You spend many a happy hour answering questions and building your knowledge of art, not just in your gallery but across the city. Part of you is wistful to study the subject in even greater depth than the books you borrow in copious quantities from the library where Eloise works.
You grow so close to Eloise so quickly that itâs as if you have known her your whole life. A sense of kinship, a near familial bond. You know, on some instinctive level, she will always be a part of your life somehow. Your evenings are often spent in lounge bars togetherâvenues awash with art deco splendour as you listen to jazz through a cigarette haze and flirt aimlessly with a carousel of handsome men. Life seems so full of potential, a hum in your very being.
âWhat do you think the purpose of life is, y/n?â Eloise sighs as she flops onto your bed after returning from one such decadent night out.
âAaaand we are done with the brandyâŠâ you declare, taking the bottle of Martell cognac from her grip and placing it pointedly on the dresser, your high-handed point only mildly undermined by your own unsteady gait.
You collapse down next to her, the intricate ceiling rose around your light fixture swirling slightly before your very eyes.
âLove?â you hazard in answer to her question.
âBoo! ClichĂ©!â she jeers, elbowing you good-naturedly.
âI donât just mean romantic love,â you protest, âthe love of family⊠friendsâŠâ
âAh, yes, family. Endlessly large family. Donât suppose you want an extra sibling or two, do you? I could be persuaded to let a couple go,â she squints comically.
âDepends⊠can I have the artist?â you jest.
âYou have to stop staring at that painting; it's getting weird,â she opines with her typical bluntness, âand no, you canât. You know heâs my favourite,â she pouts.
âI think heâs my favourite too,â you opine over a stifled yawn, any embarrassment about being called out for your unbridled admiration overridden by the sleepy state your comfortable bed lulls you into.
âIf you end up being attracted to my brother, I will have to disown you, you know,â she pats your hand drowsily.
âHmm, good thing heâs so far awayâŠâ you trail off with a lazy giggle, eyes drooping heavily.
Itâs the last words you exchange before you both fall asleep on your bed.
â
Perhaps, as with all things that are too good, the idyll is temporary. It's the news you wake up to that following morning, September 4th, which throws everything into uncertainty. SolĂšne knocks on your door early with an uncharacteristically sombre expression, wordlessly handing you the morning paper and flicking on the wireless on your mantelpiece, the fine lines on her face deeper etched, furrowed with worry.
âLa Guerre!â the headline screams from the newspaper. And the voice on the airwaves, your ear more attuned to the language now, details how Britain and France have jointly declared war against Germany for their invasion of Poland a few days prior.
At the sound of the radio, Eloise emerges from your room, blinking and hair asunder, a little delicate from your previous night's revelry. You sip coffee at a loss for what to think or do. Itâs an odd cognitive dissonance when life at once seems identical but also changed by an invisible shape - an undercurrent of fear, of the unknown, a punch to the pit of your stomach that you donât know how to acknowledge - even as you go through the motions of your daily routine and head to work.
By the evening you are more phlegmatic about the situation. Your spirit dampened, yes, but not crushed. You feel an immense sense of privilege that conflict is not yet at your doorstep, but equally knowing being in the capital city of a nation that just declared war against a neighbouring country is not exactly safe.
You and Eloise splash out on dinner at an upscale brassiere that night, one you have both passed and commented youâd love to dine in some time. Both of you seized by the unspoken âwhat ifâ, the previous reluctance to treat yourselves entirely absent.
Talk on all the tables around you as you dine - on heavenly butter-soft steak - is about the war. What it could mean for Paris, fear of another major European conflict so soon after the last, the economic concerns - the bite of the early 30s depression just relinquishing its hostile grip on the somewhat bruised denizens.
Afterwards, you wander the cobbled streets back to your apartment, arms looped, bellies full, occasionally staring up at the starry night sky in mostly contemplative, sober silence. Itâs a beautiful evening, but something in the warm breeze feels melancholic.
When you open the door to your building, SolĂšne is waiting, rocking on her heels.
âEloise, a telegram has come for you!â she announces, shoving a piece of paper into her hand. âAnd a telephone call from England earlier,â she adds, gesturing to the black rotary phone outside her placeâthe only one in the building.
Eloise gives you a brief glance and then opens the message. You watch her eyes ping across the text before her shoulders slump.
âMy mother,â she sighs in explanation, âit appears she is summoning me back home.â
âWhat?!â the selfish reflex of not wanting to be left alone is the first thing flaring in you.
âItâs not fair!â she whines in a flash of child-like defiance before continuing in a more subdued tone. âShe is sending my brother to come get me. She doesnât specify which, but seeing as Anthony is a Lieutenant General in the Army and has likely been called to Churchillâs side, I'm presuming Benedict,â Eloise surmises.Â
Your thoughts instantly fly to that painting hanging in your apartment upstairs. A strange flutter under your ribs at the idea you could be about to meet its creator. Quickly followed by a wash of guilt that you could even focus on such a frivolous thing.
âWhat will I do without you?ââ You fret aloud, grasping her arm tighter.
âThere was a call for you too, y/n,â SolĂšne pipes up. âYour father wants you to exchange your return ticket for a sailing home as soon as possible,â she relays.
âBut.. I just got here!â your lament as defiant as Eloiseâs. A frustrating sense you are losing a fleeting opportunity you already hold so precious - like a new toy being ripped from the meaty fist of a truculent toddler.
âMes amis, what can I say?â that trademark Gallic shrug seizing SolĂšneâs shoulders. âWhile Paris is safe for now, we do not know how much longer that will hold true⊠it is likely best you return home. Perhaps this will be over in weeks, and you can return?â
You know your parents have paid your rent upfront for a whole year, likely similar for Eloise, your landlady not impacted financially by your leaving, merely a wish for you to enjoy your Parisian adventures.
As you unlock the door to your apartment and wander in, both of you sigh; the illumination from the Eiffel Tower that refracts upon your window pane just adds to your melancholia, a sight that before had never failed to warm your heart.
âWhen will your brother get here?â your inflection dull.
âTomorrow, most likely. It only takes a couple of hours to cross the Channel, and as you know, the train ride from the coast is just a few more. I expect heâll be waiting for me right here when I return from work,â her tone is just as flat as yours.
You want to ask if she will pack tonight, but you stop yourself, seeing the flame that usually burns so bright behind her blue eyes dimmed. Wordlessly, you draw closer and pull her into a firm hug.
âI will miss you like a sister,â she whispers into your hair, returning the embrace just as fiercely, âmaybe moreso.â
You nod and band your arms tighter briefly before letting go, bone-deep exhaustion overtaking anything else you see in her mirrored stance.
The last thing that captures your eye as Eloise turns to her room is that painting of her childhood home and, strangely, how it feels closer now than ever before.

Tomato Red - Chapter Two
Parings: Jesse Cash x Female Reader
Warnings/Triggers: Language, talks about relationship traumas/abuse, mother/father relationships, mentions of cheating, anxiety, nervousness/panicky behavior, self doubt, fluff, sexual tension.
Summary: The local cafe/bookstore down the street was Jesse's usual hang out spot where he spent hours reading books and working on music. Until one day when he meets a new barista working the bookstore cafe. Suddenly, Jesse's reasons for visiting the bookstore down the road were no longer just for reading and work... but were suddenly meant for much more.
Author's Note: This GIF took me forever to get right.. Tumblr gave me the hardest time BUT I was determined to make it work. I feel like it really captures Jesse's fidgetiness and anxiety that I tried to portray in this chapter. This one was a super fun one to write and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do. The story is just beginning ya'll, buckle in! Please feel free to share your thoughts! :)
The orange scones were heavily inspired by @thefallennightmare 's story "Just Pretend." IF you somehow haven't read it yet, do yourself the favor and exit out of this and go read it right now. Seriously. Thank you SO much again Tina for giving me the okay to add Jesse's fruit addiction to Tomato Red. You're the sweetest ever and I'm honored to have a little piece of Just Pretend be apart of this story.
I'm also trying to work on putting together a little master list so that all these chapters will be in one place that's easier to navigate for everyone. Thank you all for baring with me while I fought to get this chapter up. <3

I rolled over on my side to shut off the alarm that loudly echoed from my phone which sat on my bedside nightstand. Pulling the charger cord out and letting it fall onto the floor, I dismissed the alarm and let out a long sigh. 5:00 am right on the dot.
I had to be at the cafe early this morning to help Kate bake the first few rounds of pastries for the front display case. Normally Kate could handle the morning bake load by herself. But, with it being so busy lately she asked me to start coming in a few times a week to help out since having to increase the morning bake amount.
I brushed the messy strands of hair away from my face and pulled the covers off of me to fully sit up in bed. I let out a long yawn and rubbed my eyes before finally stepping out into the cold air of my bedroom.Â
Kate always kept the AC in the apartment on the temperature of Alaska and although Iâve lived with her for a little over a year, my Floridian blood still wasnât used to it. Goosebumps lined both my arms and legs and I quickly rushed over to my dresser to remove the oversized shirt I had slept in. I then threw on a pair of black leggings followed by a pair of gray high socks, my white bra, and an oversized dark green sweatshirt.
I then made my way over to my bathroom within a few steps and ran my hand along the wall to find the light switch. With a loud click from flipping the switch up, the sudden brightness filled the room and caused my eyes to squint.
Taking a second for my eyes to adjust, I reached over to the side mirror on the wall and pulled out my toothbrush and toothpaste. With my toothbrush pushed to the side of my mouth I lazily threw my hair up in a messy bun. Not having the energy to put in the effort to do anything cute with it, other than potentially seeing the cutie from last night, and then finishing it off with a few sprays of dry shampoo, just in case.
Shaking the thought from my mind, I finished brushing my teeth with a quick gargle of mouthwash and then made my way back into my room to throw on my pair of black high top converse and sprayed myself with my usual coconut vanilla body mist.
I grabbed my purse off of the hook that hung on the back of my bedroom door, closing it behind me, and finally made my way out of the long hallway and into the front room of mine and Kateâs apartment.Â
Stopping right before the front door to grab my car keys from the small side table and double checking to make sure I had my phone and cafe key on me. With everything in place, I reached for the front door handle and stepped out into the gray, dim, overcast LA weather. Feeling the breeze blow around the loose strands of my bun while I turned to lock the door behind me.
Taking in the fresh cool air as it swept across my nose I headed down the two flights of stairs, making my way to the parking lot, and finally into my car. Before inserting my key into the ignition I lifted my butt slightly above my seat to pull my phone out from my back pocket. Sitting back down and unlocking the screen to search for Kate and mineâs thread of text messages.
I quickly typed out, âHey, currently in the car and on my way now. I made sure to leave a few minutes early today so you wouldnât put me in a chokehold the second I walked through the door if I was late again. See you soon. Love you.â and then clicked send before starting my car and finally heading out of the parking lot.Â
READER
I pulled into the back parking lot of the cafe and parked next to Kateâs blue Mini Cooper, which was the only other car in the lot. The cafe didnât open until seven and since it was still pretty early the rest of the cafe crew hadnât shown up yet.Â
I shut the car off and reached over to the passenger seat to grab my purse and the rest of my belongings before stepping out of the car. I then headed towards the back door of the cafe and clicked the lock button on my car remote twice as the two car beeps echoed through the parking lot back to me.Â
Inserting my cafe key into the lock and using a little bit of force to push the old wooden door open I was greeted by the warm heat that filled the air from the ovens and the sweet aroma of the fresh baked pastries Kate had been working on all morning.
âAbout time you showed up, I was wondering if you may have hit your snooze button a few extra times this morning.â I heard Kate call out from over by the bakers table.
Glancing down at my phone to check the time that now showed 5:47am, âWhat do you mean about time? I literally rushed out of the house so fast this morning you would have been proud. Plus you said to get here around six and Iâm exactly thirteen minutes early, thank you very muchâ. I responded back while making my way over to her.
Flour, bowls of mixed pastry batter, baking utensils both clean and coated in all kinds of different pastry mix, and baking pans all covered the table before me. Kate had been here since four and it definitely showed from the mess that also coated her apron. She even managed to get some flour in the ends of her ponytail and on her face.
âHad a little accident this morning, did we?â I asked while swiping my finger across her cheek to scoop up some of the loose flower from her face.
âThis mixer is crazy! I donât know if itâs acting out in retaliation from the use and abuse Iâve been putting this thing through lately⊠but here I was rolling cinnamon rolls and when I had walked over to check the next batch of dough, the bowl about flew off the stand and threw flower all over the place, as you can clearly see.â Kate said while huffing her hair out of her face with a forceful sigh.
âWell Iâve come to your rescue! Where would you like me to start boss?â I replied with a snicker while pulling my apron strings into a tight knot around my waist.
âFirst and most importantly, can you bring me my iced coffee and hold it up to me so I can get a sip? I am in desperate need of rejuvenation.â Kate asked while continuing to roll out the cinnamon rolls before her. âThen if you could start on the orange scones I would be forever in your debt.â
âWow the orange scones huh? Normally those are your babies, are you suuure you want me to be making the tried and true orange scones? Afterall, I mean I know how particular you are -âÂ
âOh shut up and just bring me my iced coffee you brat.â Kate said with a playful laugh.
I held the cup of iced coffee up to Kateâs mouth and she eagerly started sipping away at the half melted liquid inside. I went to set the cup back down on the table after she pulled away but not before noticing the strange look that she was suddenly giving me.
âWhat?â I asked.
âYouâre oddly cheery this morning, normally when you come in youâre quiet and a little grumpy. But today youâre talkative and even have a sort of glow to you. You even texted me before you left home... Did I miss something somewhere from when I last saw you after yesterdayâs crazy morning rush?â Kate replied while tapping her finger to her chin.
I could feel my cheeks suddenly getting warm and a rush of nervousness suddenly hit the inside of my stomach like a tsunami. Did Kristina say something to her about last night? I wondered.
âWhat do you mean?â
âIâm just saying as your sister, I know when something is different about you. I even got a whiff of your dry shampoo while you were standing next to me with my coffee. Which for you to put dry shampoo in your hair at five in the morning⊠is a pretty big deal.â
Rolling my eyes and shifting in my shoes I adjusted my apron and smoothed it down over my waist and legs. I was hesitant to respond to Kateâs assumptions. Not because she was wrong or because sheâs always had an annoyingly accurate attention to detail. But because I was scared of the reaction I might get from her.
Kate was older than me by five years and she always sort of took on a motherly role even when we were kids. Our mom was hardly present while we were growing up. Her and our father divorced and separated shortly after our dad started going out of town for months at a time for work. He was in the military and was constantly having to leave and would sometimes be gone for almost an entire year. Our mom did the best she could but couldnât handle the stress of being the one to handle it all by herself while our dad was away.Â
When he was home, they were constantly fighting and my sister was always trying to pick up the pieces. Not only for both of our parents but for me as well. When our parents finally decided to divorce and our father moved to North Carolina, our mother quickly grew lonely and would often try to desperately fill the void of our father in whatever man she could at the time.Â
This resulted in her constantly bringing multiple men back to the house all throughout our childhood and her focus became more on whatever boyfriend she had for that short period of time, until something would happen and sheâd be forced to move on to the next one. Which is probably why now both mine and Kateâs opinions on love is so fucked up.
âŠAnd is also probably why I stayed in my previous relationship for three years with my toxic ex boyfriend back in Florida. From the first month we were together, Kate picked up on all of Jakeâs red flags while I was too mesmerized by the first boy that treated me with the bare minimum of what I thought was love.
The three years we lasted together Kate begged me throughout the entire relationship to cut things off but I was too scared of losing something that I thought Iâd never find again. Regardless of how horrible it made me feel. It didnât matter because I was young, dumb, and so blinded by the extremely little good moments me and Jake shared. Which casted such dark shadows over the actual reality of the entire relationship.Â
When Kate first moved to California to start college, I moved in with Jake shortly after graduating high school so I wouldnât have to deal with living with our mother by myself. But it only lasted for about a year before I caught Jake cheating on me with some girl he worked with. Which resulted in a loud screaming fight and me kicking all his shit out of the apartment.Â
That same night after everything happened I broke down and called Kate and without zero hesitation she was on a plane to Florida the next day to help me pack my stuff to come move in with her in LA. Something that Iâll forever be grateful for, and the fact that she was always there to help me pick up the pieces when I couldnât do it by myself.
But I knew if I mentioned my encounter with Jesse from last night, Kate would most likely give me shit for it. Which is why I was so nervous to mention it to her. I also knew that I couldnât avoid her forever, especially when she was already picking up suspicions and I had just met the man last night.Â
But, deep down I was eager to share my excitement about meeting him and wanted to get a second opinion on the conversation we had.
Fuck it.
I let out a deep sigh and tucked the few pieces of loose stray hairs that clung to the side of my face behind my ear. âI hate how you always know everything. I swear youâre a witch or something.â I said nervously while clearing a space on the baking table so I could begin prepping the orange scones.
âIâm your sister and weâve lived together for basically our entire lives Y/N. I know when something is up or when youâre acting differently. Thatâs how I knew it was always you who would drink my capri suns, even though you would always blame mom. It was all over your face and youâve always been bad at hiding shit.â Kate replied with a light chuckle.
âPromise me you wonât be mad?â
Suddenly halting in place, Kate immediately turned her head in my direction. âPlease tell me youâre not talking with Jake again.â
âOh God no, definitely not.â
Letting out a long sigh of relief, Kate turned back down to finish icing the rest of the cinnamon rolls on the tray in front of her before grabbing another rack to work on.Â
âThank the Heavens, you about gave me a damn heart attack. If it has nothing to do with that idiot, moron, piece of garbage, then I canât think of a reason as to why I would be mad Y/N.âÂ
âOkay soooo,â I started with a long pause. âA really, really, really cute guy came into the cafe last night while me and Kristina were closing. I probably wouldnât have even known he was there if it wasnât for Kristina calling me up to the register to help show her how to cash out a card transaction.â
I glanced over at Kate in an attempt to read her body language. She wasnât giving off any signs that raised any flags yet so I continued to describe my interaction from last night.
âWell anyways, I had also seen him earlier in the day during our morning rush when I had to go out and refill the cinnamon rollsâŠâ
âWas it the same guy who I caught checking out your ass when you walked past him by chance?â Kate suddenly interrupted.Â
Feeling the heat suddenly returning to my cheeks I glanced back over at Kate with wide eyes.Â
âWait, you caught him staring at my ass?â
âUh yeah, he wasnât exactly discreet about it. Pretty sure he knew I busted him because when he came up to the register he was all fidgety and nervous. Handed me his debit card with shaky hands too.â
For some reason Kate telling me how she picked up on Jesseâs nervousness suddenly made me feel a bit more at ease. I was so nervous and embarrassed yesterday after he had mentioned my name tag being upside down that I spent the entire drive back home thinking of ways to permanently attach my nametag to my apron so that it always stays upright. Â
âAre you sure he was staring at my ass or are you just assuming he was because your big sister was showing?âÂ
Either way, I wasnât complaining.
âY/N, he was staring at your ass, trust me. But anyways, continue about last night.â Kate said while waving me off.
âOh yeah so anyways, we made some small talk. I may have been a tad bit flirty to which I think he may have been flirty back?â
âI wouldnât doubt it.â Kate mumbled under her breath.
Ignoring her comment I continued on with my description of last night, âWell, to keep a long story short I ended up asking him his name and he told me it was Jesse. We made some more flirty conversation and then I ended up telling him my name.â
I left the part out about me giving him the name tag. I knew Kate would have grown three gray hairs had I told her I was giving out name tags, especially after she went off on a tangent yesterday morning about how everyone keeps stealing all the backup name tags from her drawer up front.
âI unfortunately didnât get much further than that with our conversation though. I still had a lot to show Kristina for the closing shift and wanted to make sure she was picking up on everything. So, I told him that I had hoped to see him around and that was pretty much that.â I said while grabbing a few metal baking pans from under the baking table so I could begin scooping the dough of the orange scones onto them.
Kate was finishing arranging the few plates of pastries she had finished baking earlier onto the plates for the pastry case. I tried to read her facial expression from the side to see if I could attempt to understand any of what she might be thinking. But, my detective skills werenât nearly as up to par as hers.
âWell, just promise me youâll take it slow. I know youâre older now and Iâm trying hard not to mom you all the time. But, I just worry about you and the guys here in LA arenât exactly much better than back home. If anything, Iâd say theyâre worse.âÂ
Kate actually took it a lot better than I thought she would and I definitely understood her reasons for being concerned. It felt good to finally be getting a weight off of my shoulders and to have told her about Jesse.Â
âBut despite me being your protective older sister it is nice to see you so glowy and happy, especially this early in the morning. Maybe I should thank Jesse myself if I see him again.â Kate said while making her way towards the silver door with a few plates of pastries in her hands.
Rolling my eyes I then motioned towards the trays of orange scones before me, âYeah, yeah, whatever. Before you head up front, come check these scones to see if theyâre to your liking before I put them in the oven.â
Glancing over to the trays on the table a smile spread across Kateâs face.
âI taught you well. Now get started on the chocolate chip muffins while I start setting up out front. If your little crush comes in before youâre finished back here Iâll make sure to sound an alarm or something.â She said before finally stepping out from the back kitchen and making her way out to the cafe to begin setting up for the day.
JESSE
I sat on the kitchen countertop while swaying both my legs to the side as I was finishing up a bowl of oatmeal. I had spent the morning working on some more music for my band ERRA and also helping my roommates with some of their bands music as well.
I lived with my three best friends Michael, Noah, and Jolly ever since I moved from Nashville to California. Noah and Jolly were in a band called Bad Omens together and Michael was in a separate band called Chief. It was nice to live with three other musicians because we could always bounce back and forth ideas to one another.
Also if I ever needed advice or a second opinion on something, all I had to do was just take a few steps out into the hallway and I could knock on one of their bedroom doors regardless of whatever time it was.Â
With us all being in touring bands it also worked out because we were usually on opposite touring schedules. So even though it was four of us in one house, I was still able to have some time away for myself when I needed it. Â
âWould anyone know why the Crunchyroll login wonât work when I try to use it?â Noahâs voice suddenly echoing out from the front room.
âI donât know man, I donât watch those cartoons or whatever you guys call it. Maybe try logging in to the PBS Kids channel. You might have better luck.â Jolly responded back.
âFuck off, theyâre not cartoons man. The new Attack On Titan dropped and I was trying to watch it before my session with Ash. But for some reason all of a sudden I mysteriously canât log in to my own account.â Noah said in an aggravated tone.Â
âŠâAh, the TV disconnected from the wifi and thatâs why it wonât let me log in.âÂ
Hopping off the counter I brought my empty bowl over to the sink and rinsed it out before placing it in the dishwasher. I turned to head towards the front room where Jolly and Noah were sitting on the couch together.
âAw, are my two boys over here having a little spiffle?â I asked as I entered the front room and then plopped down on the couch between them.
âNoah is just dumb and doesnât know how to work a TV apparently.â Jolly responded in a joking tone.
âI know how to work a TV alright. Itâs not my fault the wifi is faulty.â
âThe wifi is faulty.â I repeated while laughing.
âI think itâs just user error.â Jolly retorted back.
Noah rolled his eyes and let out a long aggravated sigh. ïżœïżœïżœEnough about the wifi. Where the hell were you last night? I came over to your room to see if you wanted to go grab something for dinner and when I knocked you werenât in there. Michael had said youâd been gone all day?â
âOh yeah, I got caught up at the cafe down the road working on some of the new ERRA songs.â I answered.
âAll the way past 10:30?â Noah asked with a raised brow.
âWell I ended up having some friendly conversation with one of the girls who works at the cafe. So, I got a bit caught up and lost track of the time.â
Jolly and Noah both turned to each other. Both of them now having raised eyebrows as they returned their sight back to me.
âYou got a bit caught up and lost track of the time? As in lost track of time with the girl from the cafe, if ya know what Iâm sayin?â Jolly responded with a sly smirk while raising both his brows.
Noah now chiming back in, âOh shit dude, is that why you were out so late? Good for you man.âÂ
âNo, no, no. You guys are getting way too ahead of yourselves. Plus you both know better than anyone that Iâm not the kind of guy to just be going out on lust filled adventures especially with someone I just met.â I responded while nervously running my hands over the tan pants that hugged my thighs.
Oh shit man, I didnât mean to throw out accusations. I just thought maybe you were finally starting to open up and explore the dating world again, especially after the whole situation with what's her name.â Noah replied while patting the back of my shoulder.
I felt my shoulders tense up from his response. I tried to push that whole situation to the back of my mind as far as possible. So when someone would occasionally bring it back up, the bad taste that lingered on my tongue for so long would overtake all my taste buds. Leaving me with a burning taste of despair and disappointment that I desperately fought so long to be rid of.
âUh -â I started with a hard swallow. âNot that Iâm exploring the dating world per say. But more like she definitely caught my attention and I couldnât help myself from wanting to talk to her.â
âWell man, donât be shy. Share the details!â Jolly excitedly responded while sitting further up on the couch.Â
Feeling a little more at ease with this new excitement about sharing my encounter with the beautiful girl from last night, I began sharing our interaction with my two friends.
âIt actually all happened pretty suddenly. I went to the cafe like normal just to work on some shit for the band. Had myself a coffee and a croissant, yadda, yadda, yadda. When I went to go take my empty plate back up and to get another refill, thatâs when I first saw her. She was putting a new plate of pastries in the little case thing up front and the sunlight that casted off her hair caught the corner of my eye.â
âOh this sounds like some Titanic lovey dovey romance type shit.â Jolly said.
âDude, did you even watch the movie? Did you see how it ended?â Noah responded with a click of his tongue.
âUh yeah of course Iâve seen the movie, who hasnât? That redhead girl and the blonde dude were smashing and then he drew that photo of her with her all naked on the chair and shit. Pretty romantic lovey dovey if you ask me.âÂ
âJesus.â Noah said while rubbing both his eyes. âJesse, please continue before this idiot continues talking.â
Turning my gaze away from Jolly I began explaining mine and Y/Nâs encounter again.
âYeah, so anywaysâŠâ Trying to regain my focus after Jollyâs Titanic comment. âI saw her standing there and I just couldnât keep my eyes off of her. She was the most beautiful girl Iâve ever seen. I honestly think I stood there in my own disbelief because I couldnât comprehend how she was real. She was so effortlessly beautiful in the way she did something as simple as putting some baked goods behind a glass container. Then when she walked past me and I caught the vanilla coconut scent coming off of her and I was put into an even bigger trance.â
I looked back up and over at Noah, who was sitting beside me silently listening to what I had been saying with his arm stretched over the back of the couch. My friend looked back at me with friendly yet concerned eyes, and I enterlocked my hands together before continuing further.
Taking in a deep breath I went to begin again but Jolly had interrupted once again.
âBut were you staring at the booty though? Be honest!âÂ
My cheeks suddenly became hot and I could feel the saliva in my throat start to quickly dry.Â
Fuck. Even I couldnât deny to myself that I maybe caught a glance or two of her lower half from underneath her apron strings.
Noah suddenly broke out with laughter, âThe silence is very telling. My man, you just got busted and by Jolly at all costs.â
âOkay, whatever. So I may have glanced at her ass once or twice. Sue me.â I said as I threw my hands up. âBut that wasnât the reason for why she caught my attention. Something about this girl had me weak in the knees from just the first sight of her.â
âYouâre fucked Jesse.â Jolly stated while crossing his arms over his chest.Â
âI hate to admit it, but I gotta agree with Jolly on this one. The way youâre describing this girl it sounds like you may be in love at first sight.â Noah added.
I also hated to admit it, but even I couldnât help but agree with their statements. I was fucked. This girl had me hooked from just the first sight of her.
âWell, did you talk to her or what?â Noah asked while flipping up his hand.
âLater on in the night I did. Iâm pretty sure she caught me staring at her while I was standing in line and I had to go work out my embarrassment before even thinking about facing her again. But once I calmed my nerves, I used wanting to get a refill on coffee as an excuse to try to talk to her again.âÂ
âAnd? Did it work?â Jolly asked eagerly.Â
A smile now spread across my face and my heart began to pick up pace. âYeah actually, it did. We exchanged some flirty banter and I think she was into me? Itâs hard to tell though since it was just one conversation and she was working, so she may have just been being friendly. But we exchanged names and then I made a comment about her nametag being upside down and then she ended up making me my own upside down name tag. It was probably the cutest thing a girl has ever done for me.â I admitted.
âIs that what I saw this morning sitting on the counter by the coffee machine?â Michael asked, suddenly appearing out from the kitchen holding his leftover chipotle bowl.
âWait, it's in the kitchen? Dude bring it in here so we can see it!â Jolly excitedly exclaimed.
Michael appeared back into the front room holding the name tag that Y/N had made for me last night and handed it over to Noah first.
âDude, sheâs definitely into you. No girl would take the time to do some shit like this if she was just being friendly.â Noah stated while holding the name tag in between his fingers.
âOh definitely and look, she even added a little smiley face right next to his nameâ. Michael said with a mumbled tone from the chipotle he had shoved in his mouth.
Jolly now leaned over me so he could grab the name tag from Noahâs hand. âOh fuck man, yeah sheâs definitely feeling you. She took her time with this, look how much detail she added to the little frame around your name.â
I slunk back down into the couch, âYou guys are embarrassing me.â
Ignoring my statement, âI think the real question now is, when are you going back to the cafe?â Noah turned to ask me.
I had been thinking about going back to the cafe the second I stepped out the front door of the cafe last night, from the entire drive back home, and up until this moment. Thatâs all I had been thinking about.Â
âI say we all go to the cafe now so we can see whoâs got our boy all flustered like this.â Michael said with a grin.
âHey Iâm down. I donât have to meet up with Ash until a few hours from now. Plus, I could use some caffeine before my session anyways.â Noah replied while pushing his hands off his knees to stand up from the couch.
âDo I have a say in any of this?â I asked with nerves suddenly building up in my stomach.
âNope.â The three of them all responded back at the same time.
âQuit being a pussy and go put your shoes on. Weâre just going to grab some coffee and potentially force you to get her number.â Michael said while walking back over to the kitchen to throw out his now empty chipotle bowl.Â
Fuck me.
KATE
This was the first time all morning that I was able to catch my breath. From the moment the cafe doors opened we were slammed back to back. We had a line that stretched almost all the way down to the bookstore registers.
Thankfully I staffed todayâs shift with our strongest employees so everything went smoothly for the most part. Other than Kristina spilling an entire pot of hot coffee all over the floor. But, it could have gone worse I suppose. Plus, the floors were probably in need of a good scrubbing anyways.
I walked towards the silver door that separated the back of house from the front cafe and pushed it open to make my way back over towards the sink area to check on Y/N. With this being the first break weâve had all morning she offered to go catch up on all the dishes from this morning's pastry bake.
Bringing Y/N to work at the cafe with me was one of the best decisions Iâve ever made. Even though we also lived together, me and Y/N very rarely ever got into arguments. Even as children, we would bicker and then we would always be able to patch it up right then and there. So I was so thankful when she finally agreed to come work with me after months of desperately begging every day.Â
Despite being my sister, Y/N was reliable and I could count on her. Plus she was a hard worker and I never had to worry if she would show up for her shifts or not.
Finally making my way to the sink I came up beside Y/N and put my hand on the back of her shoulder. âThank you for coming in this morning to help me and for knocking out these dishes. I know I say it a lot but, I really am grateful you decided to come work here with me.â
Turning her head to meet my gaze, âYouâre sucking up, what do you want?âÂ
âNothing.â I replied back with a laugh. âI just want you to know that Iâm thankful and Iâm happy to have you here is all. But, donât let it go to your head. You still owe me a matcha latte for being late yesterday. Donât think I forgot!â
âAh, so it was a matcha latte you wanted.â Y/N replied back with a grin across her face. âGive me a few seconds to get cleaned up and Iâll be out there to make it for you, brat.â
âDid I ever mention that youâre the best sister ever?â
âYeah, yeah, yeah, suuuuure.â Y/N responded while waving me off.
I turned to make my way back towards the cafe. Pushing the silver door open and checking the times on the pots of coffee. I bent down to the cabinet underneath the coffee pots and scooped out two cups of coffee beans and poured them into the grinder.Â
Once they were all grinded up I lined the coffee pot trays with coffee filters and then poured the ground coffee grinds inside and began brewing fresh pots of coffee for the afternoon. When I went to turn back around there was a gentleman standing at the register.Â
Holy mother of God.
This man was absolutely beautiful. His short brown hair framed his face perfectly and he was covered from neck to toe with tattoos. Not to mention the fact that he practically towered over the register, and those arms⊠Jesus those arms.
I took in a deep breath and tried to find my footing again before finally making my way over to the register. I licked my lips and had to do a double take to make sure I wasnât drooling down my apron.
âGood afternoon, did you have any questions about the menu?â I asked.
âOh no, I was just reading over everything you guys have here. Iâm actually waiting for the rest of my friends to come up but they went to grab a table over in the book store first.â
Mmm, Iâd like to grab something myself.
âOkay no worries, take your time and whenever youâre ready to order just holler.âÂ
âWill do.â He responded back with a friendly smile while tucking his hands into his pockets.
I walked back over to the coffee pots to make it seem like I was doing something while peeking out from behind the coffee grinder so I could continue to stare at the man up at the register.
He was wearing a white shirt that appeared to have an image of Jesus playing basketball with Satan and a pair of black shorts that hugged his thighs perfectly. He had paired them with a pair of high white socks and all white vans.
Suddenly another man appeared beside him. He had long brown hair and was also covered in tattoos. He wore a black tee shirt paired with black sweatpants and had them tucked into a pair of yellow high top shoes.Â
What was in the air today? My God. These two men were gorgeous.
âJesseâs being a pussy so Michael stayed back to try to work up his confidence.â The second man said to the short haired man.
He had an accent that I couldnât exactly place my finger on. But whatever it was, it sounded beautiful and I wished he would whisper sweet nothings into my ears forever after hearing it.
âUh Kate, what are you doing?âÂ
Almost slamming face first into the coffee grinder I whipped my head around to see Jasmine standing at the food counter staring at me with a wild expression on her face.
âOh, um, I was just listening to the grinder. It has been making a weird sound all morning and I just wanted to make sure the motor wasnât going bad or anything.â I said with a shaky breath.
âRiiiiiiiight.â She responded with a sly smirk and then glanced over to the register. âMust really be making some concerning sounds then.â
Rolling my eyes at her comment I then brushed my hair back down with my hands and flattened out my apron double checking to make sure I didnât have any food or coffee gunk on me.
Two more men suddenly appeared behind the two tall gentlemen who had been standing up at the register. One of them caught my attention immediately. I recognized the gray hat he was wearing that had a white flower embroidered on the front. He hung towards the back with his arms nervously crossed over his chest.Â
The man with the long brown hair turned over in my direction, âExcuse me ma'am, we are ready to order whenever youâre ready.â He called out with a smile.
Oh shit. I quickly turned over to Jasmine, âHey can you do me a favor really quick? Can you go in the back and have Y/N come up front please. Tell her itâs urgent. Iâm gonna need her to help me knock out these next orders of drinks.âÂ
âSure thing!â She responded and turned to head towards the silver door. But before she could place her hands on it to push it open it already began to push forward from the back. Y/N now stepping out into the cafe.
âHey sorry I took so long, I ended up getting water all over the front of my apron so I had to go search for a new one.âÂ
âNo, itâs okay.â I quickly replied back. âYou came at the perfect time. Iâm going to need you at the register to help me take these four guys' orders, especially the one in the back.â Then winked my right eye at her.
Y/N quickly looked up and her eyes suddenly grew wide. I could see the pink starting to flush into her cheeks.Â
âIâm also going to need you to hold me upright while I have to talk to these two tall ones in the front.â I said while urging Y/N back towards the register with me.
JESSE
âI hate all of you.â I let out with a nervous sigh as I stood behind Noah, Michael, and Jesse in line.
âOh stop being such a wuss. We are gonna keep conversation with the brunette girl because she clearly canât keep her eyes off of Noah, and then you can slide on over and try to catch a conversation with your little crush.â Michael replied.
Jolly turned to look back at me, âI do see what you mean though Jesse, she is pretty cute.âÂ
If you think sheâs cute from this far back just wait until you're up close to her. Sheâs breathtaking. I thought.
âOh shit dude, theyâre walking over this way. Jesse get your ass up here.â Noah then turned to place his giant ass hand on my shoulder and pushed me up to the front between him and Jolly.
There she was, standing right before me once again. Her hair tied up in a messy bun while the loose strands hugged around her face. Her dark green sweater hugged her slender frame and her cheeks were flushed pink, highlighting the beautiful paleness of her skin.
âAlrighty, what can we get started for you guys?â Kate asked while Y/N stood still at her side.
âDo you guys know what you want?â Noah turned around to ask us all.
âUhhh, let me just get a white mocha please.â Jolly responded.
âOkay, one white mocha. Anything else?â
âOh itâs all gonna be together, todays a special occasion.â Noah answered back while bumping his shoulder into mine.
Just end me now please.
Y/N glanced up and I immediately made eye contact with her. I gave her a small smile to which she had returned.
Michael leaned over to whisper in my ear, âNowâs your chance man get your ass over there and go ask her for her number.â
Ignoring his comment and letting out a deep breath I inched a little bit closer to the side of the counter where Y/N stood.
âCan I have an iced sugar free vanilla latte with oat milk please.â Noah asked and then shifted over to let Michael come up between us to order next.
âOkay an iced sugar free vanilla latte for you and did you want anything else?â Kate asked with a shaky tone to her voice.
âNah, he's gotta drink just his fancy little sugar free beverage because heâs gotta go get swole after this.â Michael blurted out with a chuckle.
âMan shut up.â Noah replied back with a long sigh.
âYou do order like a girlâ, Jolly chimed in with a playful smack to Noahâs arm.
âIâm sick of your guys shit. When we get back home Iâm turning the AC down to 62.âÂ
Kate and Y/N both let out a laugh at Noahâs comment. That was the first time I heard her laugh. It was just as beautiful as she was. Everything about this girl set my soul on fire. Every time I was near her my fingertips tingled with nerves and it was so hard to think straight.Â
I knew soon I was going to have to step out of my comfort zone before one of these idiots made a scene and embarrassed me even further. So, I took in a deep breath and came up close to the counter where Y/N was standing to be directly right in front of her.
Her eyes last night were tired and glossy but today, they shined brightly with the sunlight that shone in from the windows. I could probably stand here forever just getting lost in them.
âHey you.â Y/Nâs voice suddenly broke me from getting lost any further in thought.
âHey yourself.â I replied back with a grin.
âWhat can I get started for you?â She asked, her smile now growing a little wider to show her teeth.
âIâm feeling adventurous and kind of want to stray away from my usual hot coffee order. What do you recommend?â
âHmmmâ she replied while tapping her fingers to her chin. âIt depends, are you looking for something sweet or are you looking for something to wake you up?â
âHow about both?â
âI think I can do that.â Y/N responded while reaching over to grab one of the white cups from out of the holder.Â
âJust the coffee then?â Kate asked.
Staring intently at the pastry case to the side, I caught sight of a plate that was filled with a stack of orange scones. My stomach suddenly growled and my mouth watered at the sight of the white icing and pieces of orange zest that lined the top of them.
âCan I also get one of those orange scones? I have a sweet spot for anything sweet and fruity.â I turned to look back over at Kate.
âGood choice. My sister actually made those fresh this morning.â She replied back while motioning over to Y/N who was working on making mine and the guys drinks.
Kate walked over to the pastry case and put on a pair of plastic gloves. She opened the door to the back of the case and grabbed the orange scone that rested on the top of the stack and then placed it inside of a brown pastry bag.
âIâd offer to warm it up for you but the icing melts and gets all hard on the top when we do.â
âOh itâs no worries, Iâm sure it will be delicious either way.â I responded back to her.
She handed me the bag that held the orange scone inside. I grabbed it from her and then turned around to face my three friends again. âAre you guys finished ordering?â I asked.
âYeah I think so.â Jolly answered back.
I set the bag down on the counter and reached into my back pocket to pull my wallet out. But before I could finish pulling my debit card out of its slot Noah came up beside me and handed his debit card over to Kate.
âHey man, what are you doing?â I asked.
âI told you, itâs a special day. So itâs my treat.â
âNoah, you didnât have to do that, seriously.âÂ
Retrieving his card from Kate, he then slid it into the holder he had on the back of his phone, and then shoved his phone back into his pocket. âSeriously, donât worry about it. We put you through enough hell today so itâs the least I can do.â He replied quietly while patting my back.
âThanks Noah, I appreciate it.â I grabbed the bag off the counter and looked back over to Y/N who had her back turned towards my direction. She was still working on finishing up our drinks. Noah and the rest of the guys turned to go head back over to the table they found earlier.
I knew this was their attempt at leaving me alone so I could talk with Y/N.
âYou donât have to stand and wait. Iâll have Y/N bring your drinks over if you want to go take a seat.â Kate said while motioning over to Noah, Jolly, and Michael.Â
âOh, are you sure? I donât mind waiting.â
âIâm sure Y/N wouldnât mind at all.â She replied back with a wink.
READER
I really, really hope he likes this. I thought to myself while placing the lid on top of the drink I made for Jesse.
âWhat did you decide on?â Kate asked while leaning over my shoulder to look down at the drinks before me.
âYouâre favorite, a vanilla matcha latte. I also made one for you, itâs the cup over there by the espresso machine. I didnât forget about it.â I said while nudging her arm with my elbow.
âGood choice, after he takes one sip of that heâll probably get down on one knee.â Kate eagerly turned to grab her matcha latte off the counter and brought it up to take a sip. âI told him to go take a seat while they waited for their drinks. I may have also told him that youâd personally bring it out to him.â
I slowly turned my head to her and shot her a look, âYou what?â
âI figured youâd want some time to talk to him more one on one without having to worry about other people being around. I can handle the front by myself for now, plus Jasmine is still here so if we get a little pop we will be okay. Now go, before the coffee and your feet both get cold.âÂ
I grabbed the tray that held the four coffees. My hands shook with nerves and I tried to focus my breathing before making my way around the counter. Trying to clear my thoughts so by the time I approached the table where he was sitting with his friends I would appear more confident than what I actually was.Â
Shifting in my shoes I quickly turned around to smile back at Kate, âThank you, sis.â I said before finally turning around and walking over towards the corner table of the bookstore where the four guys all sat around exchanging smiles and laughter.
I took in a deep breath as I slowly made my way closer to them. Still trying to focus on my breathing and doing the best to shake out the nerves. I could pick up the smell from the coffees I was holding as I continued walking forward and as I appeared at the table Jesse immediately looked up to greet me with a smile.Â
âOkay I have all four coffees here and readyâ I reached down to pull the first coffee out of the top left corner of the drink holder, picking it up and reading the description label and name Kate had written on the side. âAlright, Iâve got one white mocha for Jolly?.â I asked while holding up the beverage.
The man with long brown hair sitting furthest in the corner facing me lifted up a finger, âAh yes, that would be mine.âÂ
I reached across the table, Jesse now right at my side. I could feel his warm breath fan across the side of my arm and it gave me goosebumps. Trying not to focus too hard over it I reached out to hand Jolly, who sat directly next to Jesse, his beverage.
âThank you so much.â He responded.
âYouâre very welcomeâ I replied back with a smile. Now reaching over to grab the next drink, I lifted the clear cold cup out of the holder and turned it to the side to read the name and description. âAlright next up, Iâve got an iced sugar free vanilla latte with oat milk for Noah.â I said while holding out the cup.
The man sitting in the chair across from Jesse lifted his head up to look at me and with a soft smile he reached over to take the cup from me, âYep, that's me. Thank you!â He kindly replied back.
âYouâre also very welcome.â I answered back with a light chuckle. I reached back down to grab the next drink, making sure to save Jesseâs for last. I wrote something special on his cup so I knew which cup was his from before I walked over here.Â
âOkay next up, Iâve got a strawberry banana smoothie for Michael.â The man who sat next to Noah and across from Jolly raised his hand. âThat one is for meâ he said while dragging out the e playfully.
âYou came to a bookstore coffee shop and ordered a smoothie?â Noah asked him with a sigh.
âOh sorry, we canât all be sugar free, oat milk, fancy getting swole, coffee drinkers like you Noah.â He responded back while taking the drink from me. Michael then looked back up from Noah, who was rolling his eyes, to thank me for handing him his beverage.
âAlright, last but certainly not least, I have a vanilla matcha latte for Jesse.â I said while pulling the last cup out of the holder and handing it to the man who was sitting directly next to me. He reached out to take it from me and his fingers brushed against mine. His hands were warm and a little rough. But I still shivered from his touch.
âWow thatâs fancy, probably the fanciest coffee Iâll ever drink in my life.â Jesse replied back with a laugh. âThank you very much, Y/N. For not only making all of our drinks but for also bringing them over here to us. I told your sister I think it was? That I didnât mind waiting for them but she insisted that you wouldnât mind bringing them out.â His gaze continued to linger on me.
I could feel all four of them staring at me now and I knew my cheeks were probably putting my nervousness right on display. I placed my hand on the back of my neck and with a hard swallow I replied back, âYeah it's no problem at all, my sister Kate likes everyone to be able to relax and grab a book while they wait. Thatâs her inner manager coming out.âÂ
âOh shit, sheâs your sister and your manager? Do you guys ever duke it out back there?â Jolly asked while taking a sip of his coffee.
âSurprisingly no, me and Kate actually get along really well together, for the most part. When she isnât keeping our apartment in the temperatures of Alaska.â I responded back with a chuckle.
âWell, your sister and Noah have something in common.â Jesse said while motioning towards Noah.
âDo you guys all live together?â I asked.Â
âUnfortunately.â Noah responded in a joking tone.
âHe doesnât mean that. I know your ass misses me when Iâm gone.â Jesse replied while giving Noah a light kick under the table.
I laughed in response to their interaction. I could tell just from the few moments standing here conversing with them that they were all very close. It reminded me a lot of mine and Kateâs relationship and it made me feel safe to be around in their presence. Something that was very rare, especially around a group of guys in LA.Â
âDid you want to sit down? If youâre not busy that is.â Jesse asked while tapping at the chair next to him.Â
Suddenly all of my focus was on Jesse and I turned back over to make direct eye contact with him. His eyes were a beautiful golden brown. They were sweet and shined like honey from the sunlight that laid across his face which casted in from the windows.Â
His voice was soft and kind and his lips were a warm shade of pink from which his teeth peaked out from behind. I traced his face down to his neck that met at his off white tee shirt, then down his tattoo covered arm, and finally over to his hand which was covered with a red mandala tattoo that was tapping against the seat.
I would have rather taken a seat right on his lap but for now, the chair will have to do.
He scooched over the orange scone that was sitting on the table on top of one of the brown bags from the cafe. There were two bites taken out of it and crumbs lined the top of the bag. I made my way over to the chair next to him and sat down right beside him.
I glanced back up to meet his face, and my eyes lingered on his lips. They looked soft and warm and I found myself thinking about what they would taste like. Possibly from the vanilla matcha latte that lingered on his breath, or the hints of orange scone he had eaten from earlier.
Jesse shifted a bit closer to me and now our thighs were touching. I could feel my heart beat pick up and I opened my mouth slightly to breathe in some air to prevent myself from getting light headed. My leg brushed up against his and I could feel him lean into the touch.
He sat up and leaned in closer to me putting his elbow on the table, âBy the way your sister told me you had baked the orange scones and I must say theyâre quite delicious. I have a sweet spot for all things fruit flavored but especially anything citrusy.â His warm breath fanned across my face.
I was so dazed by this man that I forgot there were three other people sitting at the same table with us. If they werenât sitting here I probably would have leaned in to taste his lips by now.
I leaned in closer to him, our lips just a few inches apart now. âWell now that I know you enjoy them so much Iâll be sure to always keep a few extra in the back just for you.âÂ
âIs that an attempt to keep me coming back?â He asked with a raised brow.
âIf it was, would you say it was working?â I asked him back.
âIf Iâm being honest, the orange scones wouldnât be the reason to keep me coming back. Although they are quite tasty, It would be the girl who made them that would keep bringing me back.â
Holy hell. Holy shit. Holy fuck.
I laid my arm down on the table and brought my hand closer to his elbow. I let my finger rest up against the side of his arm and Jesse brought his arm down to place his hand on top of mine.Â
âIf itâs alright with you and if Iâm not coming off too strong, I am experiencing a wave of confidence I normally donât carry. So I would really like to take advantage of it and ask you for your number.â
A wide smile spread across my face and I looked down at the table to hide my bright red cheeks. I felt like a little girl in a candy store with the way this man flooded my heart and my stomach with butterflies.Â
He took his finger and gently placed it under my chin to lift my face back up to him. Our eyes greeted and it took everything in me to hold restraint and not kiss him. I knew Kate was probably watching and if she caught me sucking face with this guy at work and in my work uniform I would never hear the end of it.
I reached over to his now empty cup and picked it up, âI had already written a little message on here for you earlier but since you asked so nicely..â I took out one of the sharpies from my apron, using my teeth to take the lid off, and began writing my phone number onto the cup.Â
I placed the cup back in front of him, âI went ahead and added my number here on the bottom.â I spun the cup around where the message I had written earlier and my phone number was now facing Jesse.
With a giant smile spreading across his face he picked it up and I could see his cheeks begin to lightly flush pink. âIâm a very happy boy right now.â He responded while setting the cup back down on the table before us.

Graveyard Shift - Part 4
Eyeless Jack x Reader
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Commissioned once more by anonymous!! Tysm & I hope you enjoy!!! đ«¶đđđâš
Requests are closed but commissions are open!
Masterlist: x
Things between (y/n) and the masked man change after that incident at work
When he returns to the hospital almost a full week later, asking for more supplies, the girlâs less hesitant to get him what he needs
Itâs the least she can do after he saved her
She tries not to ask too many questions, despite her burning curiosity, because she knows he wonât give a straight answer anyway
Heâs going to keep being all mysterious, keep toying with her, and itâs just going to frustrate her even further
So instead, she tries to get through the interaction as quickly and painlessly as possible
Thereâs almost this sort of formal professionalism between the two as they interact
And when he leaves her unscathed yet again, she starts wondering what his real intentions truly are
Over the next few weeks, it becomes a sort of semi-regular occurrence for him to show up
She brings him what he asks for, no questions asked, and the two inevitably begin growing more comfortable with one another
Ultimately, she realizes itâs probably better for her peace of mind to not know what heâs doing with all of those supplies, anyways
The more she sees him, the more she interacts with him, the more it becomes glaringly obvious that heâs definitely not human
And while part of her refused to believe it at first, it becomes so undeniable that sheâs left with no other choice but to accept it
Thereâs simply no way a mere human wouldâve been able to catch her from that fall, no way a human would be able to dedicate so much time to watching her like he does, and absolutely no way a human could have such uncanny grace and balance despite an obvious lack of eyes
But even as it dawns on her that sheâs, for whatever reason, acquired an inhuman stalker, thereâs just something almost⊠calming about his presence
Itâs like he wanted to scare her at first, like he was testing her with those gifts and letters, and now that sheâs passed his tests, heâs become more accepting of her
Like heâs come to view her as an equal instead of just some toy for his amusement
Or, at least, thatâs about the best guess she can currently hazard
Either way, her fear and uncertainty gradually morph into something different
Even when she feels him peering at her from his hiding spots, she no longer feels afraid
If anything, his unspoken presence almost becomes a strangely welcomed familiarity
Eventually, she becomes practically desperate to learn more about him
She figures that the more information she has on him, the better, which leads her to a trip down to the local library
She checks out a decently sized stack of books dealing with the supernatural, stops by a cafe to grab herself a coffee and some fresh pastries, and then heads back home
Itâs a dreary day, with heavy black clouds rolling in, and sheâs thankful she isnât working tonight; commuting in a rainstorm is never a fun time
As soon as she gets home, she splays out the books alongside her scientific texts, and although seeing them side-by-side creates a jarring contradiction, it seems thereâs more to the world than modern science can explain, after all
While her coffee is still warm, she begins pouring through the well-aged papers
Skimming through most of them, she tries to find anything on masked stalkers, black tar oozing from eyes, and any known causes of superhuman strength and reflexes
But even after a few hours of research, her findings are, unfortunately, mostly inconclusive
The closest she gets is something about cult sacrifices and rituals, but the books seem to primarily dismiss those kinds of notions
With a sigh, she figures it might just be hopeless
When she finally looks up from the papers, she realizes itâs dark outside, and rain is pelting loudly against the windows
Her thoughts escape briefly to her stalker; she wonders where he is and what heâs doing right now
When suddenly, thinking of the devil, a flash of lightning strikes, illuminating the streets for a brief millisecond, but itâs more than enough time for her to see him
His silhouette is all too familiarâtall and dark, with that distinct azure blue mask staring directly at her
Heâs standing beneath a tree, like heâs trying to avoid the storm, but thereâs no way heâs not getting soaked out there
(Y/n) bites her lip, chewing it between teeth
Itâs objectively ridiculous to be worried about your stalker, and she knows that
But she just canât help feeling bad for him
And really, this could be the perfect opportunity to find out more about him
Why sift through musty old books when she could just ask him directly?
And surely, the chances of him answering honestly must be higher if she does him a favor by letting him in like this
Or, at least, thatâs what she tells herself
But, truth be told, sheâs always been too soft, too considerate of other people
No matter who someone was or what they mightâve done, sheâs always been the type to help them out
Itâs the main reason why she pushed herself through all those grueling years in med school, why she ended up with her career in the first place
Sheâs always wanted to help peopleâitâs who she fundamentally is as a person; she couldnât help it in the past, and she sure as hell canât help it now
Which is why, even now, even if anyone in their right state of mind would absolutely not consider doing what sheâs about to do, she still stands, makes her way to the door, and opens it
Rain immediately infiltrates the entrance, pattering against the first few inches of the wooden floor, and (y/n) has to step back to avoid getting wet
She hugs her arms around herself, squinting into the darkness in search of the familiar figure
She doesnât see him through the storm, but thereâs absolutely no doubt in her mind that heâs still out there
She waits a few minutes for lightning to strike again, but when it never comes, she turns around
Sheâs about to close the door behind her, but she decides against it as an idea comes to mind
Facing away from the door, she waits patiently, mentally counting back from 100
And before she even reaches 50, just like she thought, she suddenly feels him behind her
She should be scared
She most certainly shouldnât have that small smile of victory on her face
When she hears the distinct click of her front door closing, and when the sound of the storm is muffled through the door once more, only then does she finally turn around
Sheâd think he wouldnât be nearly as intimidating when heâs soaked, but sheâd be wrong
The way his clothes cling to him only serves to further define his muscular build
She knew he was strong, she didnât realize he was that strong
Water beads at the dark strands of his hair, framing his deep blue mask while his hoodie, darkened by the water, sticks to his toned body
A flash of lightning suddenly illuminates him from behind, and it somehow makes him look even taller and more intimidating than ever
Sheâs speechless
Heâs attractive
The thought slips up before she can stop it
She clears her throat, trying to push the thought down, and in return, the man tilts his head to the side quizzically
Her face flushes, and she mentally curses herself out for getting so flustered so easily
A brief beat of silence fills the room as the implications of her actions dawn on her
But then, realizing sheâs essentially gone past the point of no return, she speaks
âI⊠Do you want some tea?â
The offer comes out naturally, like second nature, as if sheâs hosting an acquaintance and not some inhuman stranger
ââŠâ
He doesnât answer immediately, and (y/n) wonders if heâs also surprised by her behavior
But then he nods, and without hesitation, the girl turns and leaves to make her way to the kitchen
Standing there, alone in her entrance, dripping wet, Jack isnât entirely sure what to do with himself
Itâs not like he hasnât been here before, but itâs definitely the first time heâs been here with her knowing and consenting
He feels awkward and out of place, but at the same time, heâs extremely curious as to what she might be planning
He knew there was something different about herâfew people wouldâve gone and done something like this
He hears her shuffling in the kitchen, opening the pantry and moving things around, and he wonders how she could be so trusting of him after everything heâs done
While sheâs preparing the tea, he takes the opportunity to glance at the books sheâd been buried in for most of the evening
Flipping the cover over to read the title brings a sharp smile to his face, and he chuckles to himself
Cute, sheâs been trying to research him
He flips it back, returning to the page she was on, and reads through one of the paragraphs
It mentions something about demons, but the author was so glaringly making things up that it has Jack huffing
Who would even publish pseudo-garbage like this?
(Y/n) returns a few minutes later, holding a freshly brewed cup of tea and a plate of pastries he assumes were part of the ones she bought earlier today
âYou know, itâll probably be much more comfortable on the couch,â she suggests, nodding her head in the direction of the living room
He doesnât say anything in response, too busy absorbing as many details of her face as he possibly can in a short amount of time
Because as much as he spends a lot of time watching her, seeing her up close remains a rarity
He usually only gets to see her like this when sheâs sleeping, or for a brief few minutes at a time when heâs asking for supplies
As if sensing his eyeless gaze peering into her, she stiffens slightly, and then she shakes her head, as if to brush away a thought, and moves to the living room
He follows behind, sitting next to her on the couch, trying to leave a normal amount of space between the two despite his urge to get closer
And then he canât help but wince as heâs suddenly acutely aware of how wet the cushions are getting beneath him
She offers him the tea, and he takes it between his hands, letting it warm him up from the storm
Being part demon comes with its perks, and having a resistance to temperatures is one of them, but it still doesnât mean heâs entirely immune to discomfort
ââŠThank you,â he eventually says
A brief look of surprise flashes over her face as he thanks her, but then she smiles
God, her smileâs really pretty, he thinks
âListenâŠâ she hesitates, and the sound of her voice snaps him out of a trance he didnât even realize heâd fallen into
How long has he been staring at her lips?
âI⊠I really donât know what your deal is,â she admits, âbut I know⊠as crazy as it sounds, I know youâre not⊠completely humanâ
Again, he finds himself grinning beneath his mask
Sheâs been thinking about itâsheâs been thinking about him
âAnd I⊠I guess I just figured that, you know⊠if youâre going to keep asking things from me, I, at the very least, want to know more about you. So that things are a bit more even, right?â
Jack takes a second to consider her words
Truth be toldâsure, the extra supplies are nice to have as backupsâbut he doesnât really need them
Heâs only been using them as an excuse to see her more often, and now it seems like heâs finally getting somewhere with her
âWhat do you wanna know?â
It almost surprises (y/n) how quickly he agrees to opening up
She almost doesnât know what to start with; sheâd been so focused on the different reasons he should agree that she neglected to think of her first question
She decides on just going with the most obvious one
âWhatâs your name?â
ââŠJack,â he answers evenly
Jack?
It, admittedly, somehow isnât what she was expecting
Jack sounds so unassuming, so⊠normal
She mumbles his name, repeating it to herself, when sheâs suddenly distracted as he pulls up his mask to take a sip of the tea
His jawline is straight-up perfection
An angular bone structure gives way to pretty lips, which carry a sharp-fanged smirk as he brings the rim to his mouth and drinks down the bitter liquid
His Adamâs apple bobs as he does so, and thereâs something so effortlessly powerful about him that sheâs once again rendered speechless
Jack replaces his mask over his mouth once heâs done
He likes the way his name sounds on her tongue, he decides, he should get her to say it more often
âIf weâre asking questions,â he says, âitâs only fair I get a turn as wellâ
She snorts, the sound is involuntary
ââŠAnd what could you possibly have to ask that you wouldnât already know?â
He snickers at the comment
Sheâs ballsyâhe likes it
âI donât know everything about you, (y/n),â he rumbles, and he savors the way she shifts in place at the sound of her name coming from his lips, âand your curiosity is mutualâ
She pauses again, but then with a nod, she seems to agree
âAlright then, go ahead. Ask awayâ
For the remainder of the evening, they take turns asking their respective questions
(Y/n) generally answers openly and honestly, only hesitating when she thinks the answer might jeopardize her loved onesâ safety
Jack, on the other hand, is coy and sly about most of his answers, but the bare minimum information he provides seems enough to slake some of her curiosities
Talking to one another comes naturally
Itâs easy, simple, and the flow of conversation is pleasantly interesting
Under any other circumstance, Jack knows they wouldâve been good friends
He knows sheâs still wary of him, rightfully so, and as much as he enjoys her fear, he canât deny enjoying her friendship, either
Heâs going to play nice from now on, he mentally promises himself
When she offers him a pastry, he doesnât have it in him to refuse
Human food is, by far, his favoriteâthe texture feels like ash between his teeth, and the taste is bland at bestâbut he forces himself to swallow it down in a show of good faith
He stays longer than heâd expected, and by the time he realizes he should leave to let her sleep, the storm has died down, turning to a fine mist hanging in the night air
Thereâs a broad grin on his lips as he leaves for a hunt
Something tells him that wonât be the only time she lets him in

YES!! YEY!!
so yk how like nerd!readers usually have collections? yes, collections. i have obsessions over a lot of things. im a "nerd" for dinos, coffee, dark romance books, cats, bla bla. yes. im a handful. hah.
then how they usually dont sleep. how I usually dont sleep lmao. then he comes home to reader studying or completing work, thesis, reports you name it. or maybe back to reader just waiting for him with those almost dead, baggy eyes. like "oh hey, fuck im sleepy". oh my ive been there. had my friend coming over and she saw me flopped on the floor, papers everywhere, highlighter in mouth while my empty coffee mug had crunched papers haha. also, 3 days of thesis(s)
then reader binges a lot. on books, series, documentaries, anything that keeps them away from being loneliness. i love crime and history oh hell yes. usually watch them war docus haha. then the crime ones are addicting. or for fun, id watch cooking shows, thanks to that habit, im a pro chef (lol) im an ambivert, thus, yes i can socialise. i had my housemate come with me shopping. she's a pilot so she's rarely home. she followed me to the mall, nearby cafe's, some local shops and i was saying high to all the shopkeepers. she was like, "you know everyone?" "yep, get pretty lonely :D" yea..i could imagine Simon just watching in confusion haha. i have..adopted 2 cats to keep me entertained...sorry Simon :D
hehe, i have more but this is all for now love! <333 i wanna know how it is on your side :DD
Honestly, it's pretty much the same for me. I'm big on collecting things too, mostly books and jewellery and the occasional kitschy antique I stumble upon at my local thrift. I also sleep a lot (but always at weird times) because my brain keeps me up at night whirring about the most random nonsensical things.
I like to think that Simon sort of takes charge of he and nerdy!readers relationship when they're working on a big research project because they just entirely forget how to function. I'm talking hoisting them over his shoulder to get to bed, plugging in their laptop so it's fully charged in the morning. He asks them questions about their interests just so that he gets the opportunity to shove a granola bar or some berries into their open mouth, otherwise they'll get so focussed they forget to eat. He'll drag them to the gym or on a walk with him just so that they can get some fresh air and exercise, because sitting at a desk for all hours of the day for weeks isn't healthy, despite how much they try and convince him it is.
Honestly? I also think that Simon would be super pro his partner getting a pet. He's down to do basically anything that will give them a break from freaking out over their studies, and he'd really like them to have some company when he's away on deployment, so at least if they don't leave the house, they won't be entirely alone.

Surface Tension
Chapter 3: Jackie and Wilson
Fandom: Aquaman
Pairing: Ormxfemale!Reader
Warnings: none, this is just fluff and relationship building
Summary: Orm and Y/N have been keeping each other at arm's length, but through talking and her meeting his family, maybe its time they get closer
Notes: I love the slow burn (and yes, 3 chapters is slow burn for me >.<) and them just learning and feeling each other out. Comments/critiques appreciated. Also, song is 'Jackie and Wilson' by Hozier
Taglist: @gabrieleskywalker @philiasoul
The whole idea of Halloween confused Orm to no end, but it was giving him the opportunity to see his mother and his nephew so he would go along with it anyway. They were going to come into town with Tom and Mera for a children's costume party at the local library so he figured he would join them, spend some time with people he cared about. However, he wanted to not be completely in the dark and being that he lived next to a surface dweller that seemed very willing to teach him about this world and didn't treat him like an idiot, he would ask Y/N about it. He stood in his bedroom, looking in his closet, debating what to wear to go knock on her door. Why was he doing this? He had no idea, but here he was debating between a black shirt and a blue one before finally settling for black. He headed down the stairs and knocked on the wall a couple times, their new way of announcing that they were going to come visit. He got a knock back and headed to her door. She was already there, wrapping herself in a sweatshirt.
"What's got you visiting me this early?" she asked. He frowned, looking at the sky and seeing that the sun was just starting to rise. "You're lucky I'm up early to check on the morning work at the cafe." He rubbed the back of his neck, blushing a little. She smiled at him. "Ok, out with it, what's going on?"
"Um, my family is bringing my nephew into town for the costume party at the library and well, being honest, my side of the family didn't do Halloween so I'm not sure what its all about," he said. Y/N nodded, once again being understanding about Orm's seeming lack of normal surface dweller knowledge.
"Come on in, I'll make some tea and give you a crash course," she said. Orm was nervous for a moment, having not been in her home yet. They mostly just sat on the back porch, or he would visit her cafe, never in each other's houses. He stepped in and looked around. It was a mirror of his place, entering the living room, open to the dining room and kitchen in the back, then stairs to the bedrooms. Where he had nothing really in his house, preferring to pretend that he was only there temporarily, she had decorated. It was sparse, but homey, with a few photos on the wall, a television (at least he assumed that's what it was called), furniture that looked lived in and comfy. She led him towards the kitchen where she had a mug out and water heating. She grabbed another with Justice League symbol on it and got some loose leaf tea ready. "Ok, so hit me with the questions."
"What is the point of this holiday?" he asked, taking the seat she offered him at the round table.
"Well back before there was candy involved it was believed that October 31st was the day the veil between the living and the dead was thinnest, so ghosts and spirits could freely walk among the living," she said. His eyes widened a little and she smiled, setting the mugs on the table and setting a timer for the tea to steep. "And some cultures still believe that. For some people the spirits of their family returning is a reason to celebrate, they make food, have parties and make offerings to their ancestors and its beautiful. Other people are frightened and wear masks to hide from the spirits. That's where the whole idea of trick or treating came from. People dress in costumes, go to houses and get candy." The timer went off and she poured them each a mug. "Anything else?"
"Why would the dead want to come back?" he asked. She laughed, but not in a mean way.
"Good question, the living world is a mess, why come back?" she said. "I guess if they felt something was unfinished, or maybe they miss their living family. I know I miss my father and wish his spirit could visit me sometimes." Orm looked at her, never hearing her talk about her father before.
"What happened to him?" he asked. She sipped her drink for a second, took a deep breath and he was worried he had stepped too far into her world with this. They kept each other at arm's length and he hated it, but he had been following her lead, maybe he had finally pushed her too hard.
"He died, when I was a child, sickness," she said finally. He felt a pang in his heart for her. Despite the fact that his father was a step down from a monster he still missed him sometimes, and he knew how it felt to watch someone you thought was immortal die slowly.
"I'm sorry," he said. She nodded, not looking at him. "I'm sure if his spirit could visit you he would." It felt lame, but it was all he had to offer in comfort.
"Thank you Orm," she said, smiling. He noticed that she again looked surprised by him. He wasn't sure of her experience with men before but it couldn't have been good with how shocked she was by him being the bare minimum of kind.
Y/N was constantly surprised by Orm's kindness. What she remembered of him was a narcissistic, nearly genocidal prick, not this kind, funny, almost humble person. Sure he still carried himself like a royal, but it was like he had been knocked around some too, the crown had a few scratches in it and it made it more interesting, more beautiful. She cleared up the mugs and looked at the clock.
"I have to get going, bring your family by the cafe later, I'll give your nephew a treat," she offered. It wasn't until she was at the cafe and starting to make something nice for the boy that she realized how dumb she was. Orm may not recognize her, but his mother might. She did mildly resemble her mother and she had met the queen a few times as a teenager. She could only pray that he chose not to bring them around.
Tom, Atlanna, and Junior arrived at Orm's home after lunch. The baby was nearly 2 now and he remembered Orm from the last visit, reaching out to his uncle excited when he saw him. He hated to admit it, but Orm adored the boy, despite him being the son of his idiot brother. He took the boy, noticing the costume.
"What is he?" Orm asked, the little regal costume confusing him. "And where is Mera?"
"He's prince charming," Atlanna said, "and Mera was called back to Atlantis, the council is trying to wrestle more power away from Arthur. They want to put forward demands of the surface and threaten war if they don't comply." That was concerning, the council still seemed to be annoyed that their king had revealed Atlantis to the world and wanted to get some vengeance against him.
"I hope they can squash that, although I don't hate the idea of forcing the surface to make some changes," Orm said, letting AJ down to walk around his place. "I know the party is soon, but could we stop by the cafe beforehand? My friend said she would have a treat for AJ." Atlanna perked up at the mention of a friend. Orm hadn't ever talked about anyone before, and never with that tone of voice.
"Friend?" she asked. Orm realized the can of worms he had opened with that statement and sighed.
"Yes, Y/N, she lives in the other side of the duplex," he said, trying to sound nonchalant, but the look in his mother's eyes told him he failed.
"Then let's go and meet this Y/N," she said, gathering up her grandson and husband.
The cafe was empty when they arrived, close to closing time and just passed a lunch rush. Y/N was behind the counter, looking like she had been busy that day. Orm smiled at her, liking when her hair was slightly messy and she smiled back. Atlanna frowned for a moment, trying to place the girl's face. Y/N looked worried for a split second before masking the face and going to the counter, pulling out a small box.
"Hey, you must be Orm's family, I'm Y/N, his neighbor," she said, coming around to the front. She saw AJ in Tom's arms and smiled big at him. "Aww, he's precious." She opened the box for him, showing a vanilla cupcake with a jack o'lanturn design on it. Tom thanked her and took the treat for AJ, getting him set up to eat at a table. Atlanna came up and greeted her, shaking her hand.
"You look familiar," she said. Y/N felt panic rising in her chest.
"Honestly, people tell me that a lot, I have one of those faces," she said, trying to sound relaxed. She hoped it worked. The queen seemed to buy it, just smiling and going to see AJ, making a mess of the table with the icing, Tom trying to clean up. "Don't worry about that, let him play, I have wipes for that."
"You look nervous," Orm said, standing next to her now. He could smell coffee and vanilla on her and it was intoxicating if he was honest.
"Well, they're your family, I want them to like me," she said. He looked at her, eyebrows raised a little. "What? I like to be liked." He chuckled, noticing her blush. He was watching Y/N and she was watching Atlanna, noticing her probing looks, still trying to figure out why she knew her. "I'm going to get those wipes, get ready for closing, just leave the mess when he's finished." She headed to the back, through a door to the back area. Orm frowned and looked at his mother, who shrugged and went back to AJ.
The party was fine, AJ got lots of candy and had fun with the other children. On the way home Orm sat in the back with the baby and heard a song play on the radio that he recognized from Y/N's concerts on the back porch.
"She's gonna save me, call me "baby" Run her hands through my hair She'll know me crazy, soothe me daily Better yet, she wouldn't care"
he sang to his nephew, who giggled at his uncle dancing and singing the backseat. Atlanna was watching through the rear view mirror the whole time and when she walked him to the door she smiled.
"You like her don't you?" she asked, nodding towards Y/N's door. Orm felt the red rush to his cheeks, but shrugged. "O, you really like her."
"Fine, yes, I do, I like her more than any other person I've ever met," he admitted. He had missed so much time with his mother it felt nice for her to needle him into admitting something like this. "But she seems to want to keep us as friends, which is fine, I'm happy if she's happy."
"Orm, she made a special cupcake for your nephew and the smile on her face when she saw you today? That is not the kind of smile a friend gives someone," she said. "Give her time and I think she'll see that she feels the same for you that you feel for her." She kissed his cheek and hugged him tight and he relished in the feeling. They parted and she left with Tom and AJ and he went inside, rolling her words over in his mind.

An Angel with a Darkside
You bit your lip, chin resting in your palm as you leaned against the counter in your cafe. There were many things you could be doing right now, like restocking the pastries and wiping down tables but your attention was solely on the group of bikers across the road.
For many people owning a cafe opposite a bar that was the go-to haunt for the local biker gang would be a dealbreaker. But you loved it solely because it gave you unlimited access to gaze at them all day, especially at one biker in particular.
Curtis âthe axeâ Everett.
His buzzcut hair, rippling muscles, stern expression and icy blue eyes could make anyone nervous to be in his presence, but to you, it was your kryptonite and made you weak at the knees. After a month of gazing at him, daydreaming about him, you thought you were actually dreaming when he walked into the cafe one day.Â
You swallowed nervously as he walked up to the counter, his leather jacket making his biceps look inhumanly large âHi, what can I get for you?â You smiled hoping you didnât look too lovesick as you gazed up at him.
The tiniest of smiles tugged at the corner of his lips âJust a black coffee thanks, to goâ he nodded.
âSure not a problemâ you smiled quickly turning your back on him to make his order, you werenât sure if it was the fact that you couldnât see him but a wave of confidence crashed over you âDo you want a little Irish added to your coffee?â
âI didnât realise cafes stocked whiskeyâ he commented as you finished making his drink and turned back around to face him.
âWe donât but I can make sure I have it for next timeâ You smirked and the smile that was playing at his lips grew âCan I get you anything else?â
âWhat do you suggest?â
âWell you can never go wrong with a chocolate croissant, theyâre handmade,â you said nodding to the display of croissants.
âIâll take one of those too thenâ
âComing right upâ you smiled quickly packing one away into a to-go bag âThatâll be eight dollars pleaseâ
Curtis placed 10 dollars on the counter and picked up his coffee to take a sip âJust what I needed, keep the change angelâ he winked as he grabbed his croissant and walked out of the cafe.
You couldnât help but bite your lip as you watched him go, eyes focused on his perfect ass. So much so that it was only when he was out of view that you spotted heâd left the sleeve of his to-go cup on the counter and it was only when you picked it up that you realised he scribbled his number onto it.
Fast forward 3 months and the two of you were officially dating and it had been amazing. You didnât care about his tough and rough exterior, if anything it was a major turn-on for you. Curtis could also be incredibly sweet behind those frowns and grunts. Whenever he took you to bed he worshipped you, his rough hand gliding gently over your skin, it was amazing.Â
ButâŠ
You wanted more, needed more. Yes, he had given you some of the best orgasms of your entire life with the smooth and gentle lovemaking, but what really got you going was watching him being tough, commanding and dominating. You wanted him to dominate you.Â
You werenât sure exactly how to ask him to bring that side of himself into the bedroom though. But after watching him holding someone up by the collar of their jacket you couldnât wait any longer and set a plan in motion.Â
You and Curtis already had a plan to meet up this evening, Curtis coming over to your apartment for dinner and a good time, but instead of meeting him downstairs in your cafe you left a note telling him to meet you upstairs.
Which is exactly where you waited for him, dressed in black lingerie which left absolutely nothing to the imagination made from nothing but small straps of black material. The marble kitchen counter cool against your bare skin as you perched invitingly on the edge.Â
Your heart was hammering in your chest as you heard Curtisâ heavy footsteps coming up the stairs, but as soon as he set his eyes on you and you saw them darken you knew you were in for a good night.Â
Curtis silently walked over to you, his icy blue eyes devouring your entire body. He said nothing as he reached out and ran his finger underneath one of the straps, his knuckle brushing over your exposed sensitive peak.Â
The corner of his lips tugged upwards when you shivered at his touch âWhat is all this?âÂ
You leaned forward to run your hands over the shoulders of his leather jacket âI love it when you worship me but⊠watching you todayâŠâ you said taking a deep breath as your gaze met his âBeing so⊠dominantâŠâ
The lopsided grin on Curtisâ face grew âYou want that hm?â he hummed, his hand moving to cup the underside of your breast, thumb brushing over your nipple.Â
âSo muchâ you breathed out.
A flash of worry passed over Curtisâ face âI donât want to hurt youâ he muttered, eyes dropping.Â
You cupped his cheek to return his gaze to yours âYou wonâtâ you said before smirking âIâm tougher than I lookâ
Curtis chuckled shaking his head, his gaze finally falling to the selection of toys you had left out around you âWhere have you been hiding all these?â he said as he reached out and picked up a pair of fluffy handcuffs.
You shrugged innocently âJust next to all my deepest darkest secretsâ you winked.Â
Curtis chuckled again as he leaned forward, bracing his hands on either side of you âWe should have a safe word AngelâÂ
You nodded âHow about⊠croissant?â you smirked recalling the first time you met.Â
Curtis gave you a wicked grin as he nodded âOkay, now lie back angel, hands above your headâÂ
You were buzzing with anticipation as you did what he said, your fingers brushing against the cool metal of your kitchen sink behind you. You heard Curtis move around the island before his hands took yours and the handcuffs were placed around your wrists, securing you in place using the kitchen faucet.Â
He walked back around to where your legs hug off the edge of the counter, pulling you closer to the edge âI recall our plans to have dinner tonightâ he said, pulling aside the thin straps that covered your core âbut I guess Iâm the only one eating tonightâÂ
You bit your lips as you felt his breath ghost over you, but it did nothing to stop the moan that broke free when Curtis dove in. Usually Curtis took his time, would gently work you up before diving in but he wasnât holding himself back. Your legs clamped around his head, his beard burning against your thighs. His hands moved to grip your thighs, keeping them exactly where he wanted them, his grip so tight it was sure to leave a mark.Â
Your back ached against the counter, the metal of your handcuffs clinking against the faucet. This unrestrained animal was just what you wanted and more. You tried to hold yourself back so this moment would last forever but you came harder and faster than you ever have before, practically screaming his name.Â
You watched with hooded eyes as he rose back up to his full height, in the low light of your kitchen you could see your essence glistening on his beard. He licked his lips before he leaned over to press wet kisses up your body.Â
âI know youâre in charge but I have a suggestionâ you muttered in between deep breaths.
You felt Curtis smirk against your skin, his eyebrow arched as he glanced up at you âOh really? And what is it?âÂ
You smirked back at him âUnlock these and youâll find outâ you said tugging on the handcuffs.Â
Curtis didnât say anything as he rounded the counter once more and freed you from the handcuffs. As he walked back around you pushed yourself off of the counter, turning around and bending over. You saw the wolfish grin on Curtisâ face as he moved to stand behind you.Â
âOhâ he muttered in surprise, in all the time you knew him youâd never heard him sound so surprised âWhat is this?â he asked, his voice dropping.Â
You knew exactly what he meant as he touched the gem-encrusted butt plug that you had already inserted before his arrival, his touch making you clench around the cool metal âI thought it would be wise to prepare myselfâ you said glancing over your shoulder at him.Â
His eyes met yours, eyes that were now so dark you couldnât see the icy blue anymore âYouâre not the person I thought you wereâ he hummed.
âOh really?â you smirked.
Curtis shook his head âYouâre so much better⊠my sweet little angel has a dark sideâ
âAnd Iâm all yoursâ you said pushing your ass out towards him.
Curtis let out a dark chuckle as he leant down to press a kiss to your shoulder âRemember our safe word?â he asked, you hummed and nodded your head âGood because you might need itâ
You bit your lip in anticipation as your listened to him unbuckle his jeans. You gasped when you felt him run himself up and down your soaked folds your breath hitching when you felt him press inside you. Except it wasnât him, heâd grabbed one of your larger vibrators and was using that instead.Â
âGotta make sure youâre ready angel, Iâm guessing this is your first timeâ he hummed as he turned the vibrator on to its lowest setting.Â
You whimpered at the sensation of being so full as you nodded your head in answer. Your whimper then turned into a whine as you felt Curtis pull the plug from you, your body mourning the loss of sensation. Curtis shushed you quietly as he ran his hands over your ass, one hand moved to your core collecting your juices before returning to your ass, his fingertip swirling against your rosebud.Â
âRelaxâ Curtis instructed as he slowly teased your hole and your body instantly responded to his command âGood girl,â he said as he pressed his finger further into you.
You could only moan his name as you rutted back against him desperate for more, but Curtis took his time with you, opening you up before he added another finger. When you began to beg for more he responded not by adding more, but by turning up the intensity of the vibrator.Â
âThatâs it, I want to feel you come one more time, make sure you're thoroughly ready for me,â Curtis said as he pressed a kiss to your spine.Â
Your toes curled as you felt another orgasm crash over you, harder than the one before. If it wasnât for the countertop beneath you, you would have sagged completely to the floor.Â
It was while you were coming down from that high that Curtis got himself ready, your body instantly responding when he pressed his tip to your hole. He pressed himself inside slowly, letting you open up for him in your own time. He was only halfway in when it felt like you couldnât take anymore, you were already too full with him and the vibrator.
âYou can do it angel, just a little moreâ Curtis gently coaxed.Â
Your body relaxed some more as he slowly thrust into you until he was fully seated inside you. The both of you pausing to just enjoy the sensation.Â
âFuck you feel so goodâ Curtis ground out between heavy breaths.Â
You could only moan in response, all coherent thoughts gone from your brain, all that was left was the euphoria you were feeling, how good it felt to be so full.Â
âHow do you want this?â Curtis then asked, his hands running gently across your back.Â
âAllâ was the only thing you were able to say, you wanted it all.Â
Curtis thankfully understood exactly what you meant as he began to thrust into you with no restraint. You instantly began chanting his name with every thrust, understanding that this was the true meaning behind the phrase âfucking your brains outâ.Â
It was a miracle that you hung on for as long as you did, your peak dangerously close from the moment he entered you. But when he reached beneath you to turn your vibrator on to his highest setting you completely lost it, screaming his name as you came around him, screaming so loud you were certain the people across the street could hear you. Curtis followed swiftly behind you, spilling himself inside you, cum leaking out.Â
The both of you took a moment to recover before Curtis pulled himself and the vibrator from you, making you whine at the breath of emptiness you felt. Curtis then gently helped you stand back up, hooking his arm beneath you and lifting you up when your knees went weak.Â
He pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead as he carried you from the kitchen and into your bedroom, gently setting you down on the soft mattress. He went to then step away but you grabbed his wrist.
âThank youâ you whispered, your voice hoarse from all the moaning.Â
Curtis gave you a soft grin as he bent down to kiss you softly âNo, thank youâ he murmured âNow relax while I clean you up and look after you like the angel you areâ

Bad Girls Club
Haechan
Haechan doesnât remember when he first started liking y/n. Maybe he stumbled on one of her videos while in a nightlong YouTube session. Maybe he was recommended her videos by a friend. To be honest, it doesnât really matter. What matters to Haechan is that he likes her. A lot. Not in a creepy stalker way, but in a supportive âI love your content and want the best for youâ way (And maybe a little stalking). You have to understand, Haechan doesnât have a lot in his life that makes him happy. He has his friends, sure, but with school kicking his ass, plus his part time job down at the local mart always calling to ask him to cover - well, haechan has a lot on his plate. But all those issues go away when he can look at y/nâs smiling face through a screen for just a little bit. And heâs okay with that, really. But what Haechan doesnât know is heâs about to get a whole lot more than just a window into a world once unknown to him.
Mark
Mark is Haechanâs best friend, as well as the TOP music major at SNU for his grade. If that doesnât tell you all about him, then I donât know what will. Although, maybe thereâs more to him than meets the eye. When you first meet mark, you might find him a little reserved; quiet. But really, heâs just biding his time. When heâs ready, Mark will hit you with things about yourself you werenât even sure you knew. Because Mark, above all else, is a studier of people. And he is doubted, often, for the silly things that come out of his mouth. But if you listen, youâll realize he just has a certain..way of saying things; that what heâs mumbling is actually deep and poetic. It makes you understand why Mark is the top of his class, and why Haechan is his best friend. Because where Haechan is a yapper, mark is a listener.
Renjun
What Haechan doesnât remember, Renjun does. It was a dark, cold, stormy night (it was 8pm and the weather was 76° with not even a cloud in sight) when renjun was laying on haechans bed, watching a twitch stream that stared one of his favorite artists, Giselle. But Haechan wasnât really looking at the girl renjun always seemed to fawn over, for he was too busy staring at the girl next to her. After basically forcing her name out of Renjunâs mouth - by ways of sitting on him - Haechan heard the name ây/nâ for the first time, and the rest was history. Renjun canât really blame his friend, but he can blame himself for being a bad influence; something Renjun is glad to be. If heâs not pestering one of his friends to buy him something, heâs ignoring them, or making fun of them. In a cute, endearing sort of way, of course. In real life, Renjun is a great person to have on your side. The art student is a quiet, but fierce storm to be sure. Just donât piss him off and youâll be fine - something thatâs easier said than done.
Chenle
Honestly, Chenle doesnât know how he became friends with these people. One minute, heâs a new Chinese transfer to SNU who barely speaks Korean, the next heâs introduced to Renjun - a quiet, yet interesting man who heâs told will be his guide around campus - and now, 3 years later, he finds himself regularly debating conspiracy theories with Karina, trying his hardest not to punch Haechan in the face, and fending himself off from the paws of all of his friends as they beg him to âfulfill his duties as the rich friendâ. And, after all that, no matter how much the business student complains about them, he canât fight the smile that reaches his eyes every time heâs with them. In actuality, Chenle loves his friends and life very much, but tell ANYONE that and youâll be seeing the back of your eyelids soon after.
Ningning
Ningning is a coffee feen. If thereâs coffee in a room, Ningning is also in that room. And thatâs how she met her current friends, actually. One day mark and Haechan walked into the best coffee shop on campus - SNU Cafe - and saw a tired looking girl behind the register. When she thought they werenât looking, they saw her shoot a cup of espresso, and laughed so hard she couldnât help but join. Ningning was always a little scared of Korea. A new, scary country with a complicated, scary language. Even after she settled in, even after she found friends, and even after she tells people she loves it here and never wants to leave (which is true), Ningning still gets a little nervous when someone talks in Korean too fast to her. Thus, it was proclaimed that she must be protected at all times. Because, genuinely, Ningning is just a sweet girl who loves coffee, and her friends. What more could someone ask for in a friend?
Karina
The first thing people say when they meet Karina is typically, âwoahâ. Not in a âwoah sheâs so pretty and coolâ way, but more like âwoah she looks so scary I should runâ. Karina has always had trouble finding friends in her life. Itâs not her fault she has RBF and a quiet disposition. But the cards sheâs been dealt are just something she lives with, and no matter. Sometimes, good things just fall into Karinaâs lap. Maybe call it the universe giving back some karma from her lack of success in the human interaction department. Thatâs why her friends call her their âlucky catâ because no matter what is going on, if Karina is around, you know itâll be okay. But regardless of all that, Karina prides herself on one thing above all else; her honesty. Her candor holds no favorites - even if youâre her very best friend - act stupid, youâll be told youâre being stupid. Really, Karina means no harm. She just wants the best for her loved ones; even if she has to push them to be the best.
GG! (Good Game!) đŸ

23rd August 1944: The Freckleton Air Disaster. At 10:30am, two newly-refurbished B-24 Liberators took off for an air test from the USAAF Base Air Depot 2 at Warton, near Preston in Lancashire. Just a few minutes later, a violent thunderstorm was reported to be approaching and the aircraft were ordered to land immediately. But by the time the B-24s returned, visibility was already extremely poor as the area was plunged into darkness. Gusty, unpredictable winds were accompanied by lightning, thunder and heavy rain.
The pilot of one of the Liberators opted to fly out of the storm and wait until it had passed; he landed safely shortly afterwards. The other B-24, âClassy Chassis IIâ, was under the command of 1st Lt John Bloemendal. He aborted his landing, though itâs unclear exactly what happened to his aircraft next as he only issued two short radio transmissions and the Liberator wasnât visible from the airfield. Warton control tower now sent a heading to both aircraft to clear the weather, but it came too late.
The village of Freckleton lies immediately next to the airfield at Warton. Witnesses there reported seeing the B-24 flying extremely low, its wings near vertical. One wingtip took the top off a tree and clipped a building before ripping through a hedge. The remainder of the bomber then began to break up, ploughing through three houses, fuel tanks igniting as it did so. Debris hit the Sad Sack Snack Bar, a cafe set up by locals to welcome US servicemen. There were a number of people inside, sheltering from the storm; most were killed or injured.
Across Lytham Road stood the Holy Trinity School, where teachers were trying to take the minds of their pupils off the severe thunderstorm. Wreckage ploughed into the infants wing of the building, accompanied by burning fuel, killing many children and staff instantly. Older children from other parts of the building fled in panic, being helped over the high wall at the rear of the school.
The first rescuers and firefighters on the scene came from the base at Warton, arriving within minutes; they were assisted by shocked locals and crews from the National Fire Service arrived soon afterwards. Despite initial confusion, efforts were soon co-ordinated and continued until all hope of finding further survivors was lost. Some of those pulled from the rubble later succumbed to their injuries, the last early the following month.
38 children from the infants wing of the school, almost all aged 5 or under, were killed along with two of their teachers. 7 civilians, 7 USAAF and 4 RAF personnel died in the Sad Sack Snack Bar, along with the three crewmen on the B-24. Most of the civilian victims of the disaster were buried in a communal grave in Holy Trinity Churchyard on 26th August, the two ceremonies that day being paid for by the American military. With 61 killed, this is believed to be the worst air accident to occur in Britain during the Second World War.
The official report into the crash concluded that the exact cause was unknown, since the aircraft was completely destroyed and couldnât be examined. It was suggested that Lt. Bloemendal had not fully recognised the danger until attempting to land, by which time the violent downdraughts from the thunderstorm, combined with low altitude and lack of airspeed, prevented his escape from the area. It was reported that some American airmen had insufficient respect for storms encountered over Britain, believing them to be less severe than those in the United States.

DAY 5480
Jalsa, Mumbai         Feb 16/17, 2023        Thu/Fri 11:27 AM
The reason for the delayed post -
.. finished work at 3 am .. and wanted it to carry on .. but the fear of the protagonists here in our Ef vicinity, prevented me from such a bauble of extravagance .. highlighted in remembrance of a moment in University in the year of the Lord 1959 - that is nineteen fifty nine - from the extenuating circumstances in the College Cafe - the greasy spoon .. the noshery .. the estaminet .. !!
But said it must be, that the experience of being back at work ,was energised and devoid of limpid meanderings ..Â
A shoot for a campaign for the largest formal body of finance in the Country .. 6 films .. and 4 still costume changes .. and all done with a glimmer of hope that the Studio work scheduled would not suffer ..Â
The Studio, the locale for the most ethereal creative attempts, in the combine with the Divine , heart and soul tied to that invisible thread that binds us all -Â
the SUR .. à€žà„à€° the đ¶ ..
intensely the most magical of all moments ..
.. glory be to the Almighty in the creation by nature of sound .. to emanate, to project , to be in the hearing of listen and to transport thee to the clouds of the One above .. via the strains of another similar in the technology of the modern -
iCloud .. Â
It is the most tearing away experience when it draws you away from it .. to be away from its creation .. to carry it away .. and to be with it in the looped repeat timelessly ..
It plays now , not just in the mind but all about .. in the objects of daily usage .. in the travels by the vehicles of transport .. in the shut of the eyes .. in the open of the day .. in the closer of the dark ..
Everywhere ..
and it beckons us all , drawing us in, never to be left in the isolated realm of suggestive avatars ...

Predator and Prey: Chapter Three
Pairing: Tommy Cahill x Reader
Warnings: 18+ ONLY, Minors do not interact, Slow Burn, War Inaccuracies, Swearing, Mention of PTSD but barely, Stalking, Abuse, Sexual Themes, Alcohol & Drugs, I think thatâs it?
Summary: You and Tommy open up to one another about your difficult pasts.
- Chapter Two Here -
âââââââââ-
The police had come and gone and they werenât able to find anyone in your house. Theyâd checked the window latch which worked fine and said you must have opened the window to let in some fresh air and forgotten to close this, and the intruder must have taken what they wanted and left.
Regardless, you still didnât feel safe, nothing was missing and you pretty much never opened the windows in the winter months, you were not a fan of the cold, and you couldnât understand why Jet hadnât scared them away. After all he was a big Alsatian and looked scary to anyone who didnât know him as the goofball he actually was.
You didnât sleep that night, instead you held up in the living room with Jet and watched reruns of The Office in the hopes of lightening your mood.
By morning you were exhausted, but you got up and left for work like any other morning, and made a mental note to buy some security cameras next time you went to the tech store.
The next few days passed uneventfully, and despite the discomfort you now felt in your own home, you were looking forward to your coffee date with Tommy.
Saturday morning arrived and you got dressed in your favourite jeans and oversized sweater, and gave Jet a big fuss before leaving. You made sure to double check that you had locked the door and windows before leaving, something you never second guessed before this week, and made your way to the local Cafe, the Toasted Bean.
Tommy waited for you outside, and quickly stubbed out his cigarette when he noticed you walking up to him.
âSorry.â He mumbled with a sheepish grin, grinding his heel into the cigarette to make sure it was out, and held the door open for you to go in.
Once you had ordered drinks, you both sat near the window. You spoke about light hearted subjects for the first hour or so, only getting up to replace your drinks, and found it easy to be in each others presence.
âSoâŠ. You donât have to tell me if you donât feel comfortable, but, do you mind me asking what you went to prison for?â You asked, smiling gently and not wanting Tommy to think it was a dealbreaker. He had said it was nothing too terrible anyway.
Tommy grimaced and rubbed the back of his head, before looking you in the eye and sighing.
âI donât mind, I just donât want you to think Iâm a bad guy or anything.â He looked a little sad, before continuing. âBut I guess if you donât hear it from me youâll hear it from someone else, so here goesâŠâ
Tommy told you the story of how he robbed a woman at gun point when he was desperate for money, having been in a dark place and too proud to ask his father or brother, he felt he had no other choice. He told you detail by detail how it had gone wrong, the woman had recognised him as Hank Cahills son and the police were called. He had never intended on using the gun and it wasnât actually loaded, but the whole thing looked extremely bad and he was sentenced to 3 years. He told you how he had apologised to the woman when he got out and how she was thankful, and Tommy said he could never bring himself to do something like that ever again.
You believed him and gave him a soft smile, reaching across the table to squeeze his hand gently.
âI donât think that makes you a bad guy.â You said. âI just think everyone has at least one shitty point in their lives when they do something totally out of character, and it seems that was yours.â
Tommy smiled and squeezed your hand back.
âWhat about you, Iâve been meaning to ask what your life was like before you left New York?â He asked, not realising heâd touched on a sensitive subject.
You took a sharp intake of breath and slowly pulled your hand out of his before putting your hands in your lap.
âWell, I guess since youâve told me yours I better tell you mine.â You laughed awkwardly.
You then told Tommy how you had been living in and working in New York after college and you had met Jason when youâd gone out for drinks with some colleagues.
He had seemed charming at first, and youâd started dating, eventually moving in together and getting your dog Jet as a puppy. The first 3 years were idillic, and Jason was charismatic, kind, fun and everything you could have asked for.
Everything changed suddenly one night when Jason went to a rave with his friends, having taken some unknown drugs, something in him changed and he was never the same after that night.
Jason started waking up in a frenzy most nights, pacing up and down the hallway muttering to himself. Once you had made the mistake of trying to wake him from his crazed sleep walking, only for him to pin you against the wall by your throat, muttering âHeâs coming, heâs coming for us.â
You had been terrified, and when youâd confronted him about it the next day, he didnât remember a thing and called you crazy.
The nights were bad but eventually the days became even worse, with Jasonâs temper getting the best of him. Heâd began accusing you of bringing men home in the night, and having secret relationships in the apartment under his nose, and that youâd sent men after him to assassinate him so you could move on with your life. Heâd started smashing plates against walls, kicking furniture across the room, and the straw that broke the camels back was when he started hitting you.
Youâd called it quits, and you were quite tearful despite how afraid you now were of him, because you had had the best 3 years with him before that awful night, but this was not the life you signed up for.
You moved into a new apartment with Jet and tried to move on, but the problem was that all of your friends were originally Jasonâs friends to begin with, and their loyalties lay with him. Jason had told everyone that the reason youâd ended things was because you were cheating on him with someone else, and his friends believed him over your âfar fetchedâ story.
Jason had asked your friends to keep tabs on you, and at first you couldnât understand how heâd kept turning up to the same events and bars as you, just lurking in the corners of rooms with a dark look in his eyes, but eventually youâd clocked on that your friends had been involved.
You decided to withdraw from social engagements altogether, and saved every dime you had instead. You were good at saving and already had a rather decent sum, although you had no idea what you planned to do with it.
One night while you and Jet were curled up on the sofa in your new apartment watching a movie, there was a knock on your door.
You had ordered pizza that night so assumed it was the delivery boy, and got money from your purse before walking to the door. You didnât think to check before opening it, and were met with Jason leaning against your door frame with a maniacal grin on his face.
âJason! How did you know were to find me?â You stuttered out, surprised, stumbling backwards. Big mistake.
Jason pushed his way into your apartment and closed the door behind him, blocking the exit. He didnât answer, but youâd assumed one of your mutual friends had given him your new address.
Jason looked deranged, his hair wet and plastered to his forehead, his unfaltering grin and his hands in his jacket pockets.
âIâm gonna need you to leave.â You stated coldly.
Jet jumped off the sofa and went to greet Jason with a wag in his tail, you stopped him before he got too close. âJet, no boy. Go lay down.â You instructed. Jet obeyed and slunk off with a huff to the sofa, laying down with puppy dog eyes, upset he didnât get to say hello.
âSee how much he misses me, (Y/N)?â Jason finally spoke. âI think itâs time you came home.â
You laughed a sarcastic laugh, shaking your head.
âYou canât be serious. After everything? No, Jason, you need to leave or Iâll have to call the cops.â You said, grabbing your phone from the kitchen counter top.
Before you could dial anything, Jason pulled his hand out of his pocket revealing a long, thin knife, one typically used to fillet beef. He must have had to poke a hole in his pocket to fit it in there.
The air left your lungs as all rational thinking stopped. You froze in the spot, unsure of what to do.
âYou honestly think Iâm just going to let you go huh? So that you can move on with someone else? Youâve wasted 3 fucking years of my life, (Y/N)!â He shouted, an angry expression replacing the grin.
âHeâs finally here, (Y/N), heâs come for us and he wonât take me without you. If you donât come willingly, wellâŠ. He didnât say he needed you alive.â He laughed sinisterly.
This was all a game to Jason now, he didnât actually care about you, he just wanted revenge or to feed whatever messed up hallucinations he was having.
âWho has come for us, Jason? Are you in trouble with someone? Do you owe money? I can give you the money you need!â You spluttered, your mind racing for any way to get out of this situation. You knew if you went with him you would never leave, so that was absolutely not an option.
Jason laughed and gripped the sides of his head as if trying to stop it from falling off, and looked at you with an exasperated expression, the knife precariously close to his eye.
âYou just donât get it do you? You never did! This is the problem with people like you, (Y/N), you scum of the earth ruin all things good for people like me!â He shouted, pointing the knife at you like an appendage, spit flying out of his mouth.
At this point you were shaking, the man in front of you was not rational, nothing you could say would bring him off the edge, and you knew he was on the brink of snapping.
You looked right out of the corner of your eye, mentally calculating if you could make the short distance to the couch to grab Jet and sprint to the bathroom. It seemed unlikely, Jason was too close to you, but you refused to go anywhere without your dog, as you had no idea just how far this man would go to get to you.
You spied a heavy vase on your kitchen island, and without a second thought you grabbed it and launched it at Jasonâs head.
It landed with a heavy crashing noise and you took the opportunity. You turned on your heel and sprinted towards the couch.
Jason dizzily gripped his head, blood dripping onto his hands. He shook his head in an attempt to clear his vision.
You grabbed Jet with all of your strength, thinking it quicker to scoop the large dog into your arms than to take him by the collar. The adrenaline making him feel lighter than he was. Jason had regained his sense of awareness and started to close the short gap, a dead look now cast over him.
You skid into the bathroom, lobbing Jet as carefully as you could inside before swinging around to shut the door, but Jason was too quick, grabbing you by the hair and slamming your head onto the bathrooms tiled floor.
His weight on top of you was too much to shift and now you felt dizzy, trying your best to push the knifed hand away from your neck without much luck. You could feel the blade cutting the skin while Jets barking faded into muffled sounds, you had realised this was it.
You closed your eyes, not wanting your last memory to be of those cold, disturbed eyes you had once loved. You waited for the cold blade to penetrate your windpipe. You waited, and waited, and suddenly the weight on top of you lifted.
Slowly you opened your eyes, and your hearing rushed back, loud and intrusive, with Jets booming barks continuing.
Jason was now slumped over next to you, unconscious. The pizza delivery boy stood over him with a heavy stone paperweight from your coffee table, eyes wide and hands shaking.
The pizza boy waited with you until the police arrived, after they took his statement you thanked him profusely and gave him the biggest tip he had seen in his life.
You gave the police the full run down of how things with Jason had been since that night, and they took him away.
You made a decision that night to pack your things and get the hell out of dodge, not stopping until you found somewhere far enough to settle down.
You finished your story and finally looked up to Tommy, thinking heâd laugh at you and call your story far fetched, but instead he looked wracked with guilt for something he didnât do. He got out of his chair without another word, walked around to your side and gently grabbed your arm to pull you into a standing position. He looked at you incredulously for a second, before pulling you into a hug.
You were surprised for a moment, but after a few seconds you melted into his warmth. You knew this would be a good thing, Tommy held no malice, something you had to realise not all men had.
