my preference for a dating sim is that romance is its key theme. it is the core of the game. romance is 100% applied in a physical and verbal sense. the plot also has perfect chemistry with the romantic genre. there is kissing. there is confession of love. and if its catered to a mature audience there is fucking. i love romance with angst but i enjoy comedy romance too. and the comedy still has to balance out with the serious/dark tones of the game. i love dating sim that specifically highlights romantic love as the main idea.
