okay a lil meta but darien was originally written to have a little brother, who was their original "trigger" to join ws and work their ass off to rank up. i scrapped it bc 1) it would be too similar to tianwu and natasha who also have lil sibs and 2) i thought their fervent need for recognition and success made them more compelling
