Darlain Pokemon AU Photodex Entry 5
"Back in action, we traveled to Belusylva Island, a mountainous region covered in the wild Founja Jungle. I've never been in this type of climate before, so I was very excited to jump in! As expected, the wildlife was teeming out here!
Tumblr media
These little Bounsweets were twirling from tree to tree, and seemed pretty curious about me! They followed behind me for quite awhile! Their stems can rotate, producing little updrafts of air!
Tumblr media
Saw this Beautifly getting a drink near this waterfall pond. These guys did -not- care about my presence at all, often flittering slowly in front of me, and even bumping right into me. One track mind I guess?
Tumblr media
I've never seen an Arbok in it's natural habitat before, and they're imposing! This one seemed to have noticed a Whooper in the bushes, and was trying to get at it for an easy meal. Poor thing, but I guess that's life. It did slither off when I got closer though.
Tumblr media
The Whooper was not happy. Nice to have the opportunity for a close up, though!
Tumblr media
I startled an Apom, and after getting a rather loud lecture from her, she ran off into some brush, using Cut to clear the way!
Tumblr media
Try as I might, I could not get this Slaking to move, or look at me! I've heard stories about their stubborn, lazy personalities, but... I even tried hitting it with some fluffruit but nothing, not even a flinch.
Tumblr media
Liepard are beautiful, graceful creatures, but I was glad to have the safety of the NEO-ONE protecting me, this one pounced at me shortly after I got this shot, not sure if he was playing or really saw me as a meal! I often see them napping during the day in the trees.
Tumblr media
I shook away a Metapod when hovering through the canopy, it caught itself with it's silk string, slowly pulling itself up to it's attachment on the branches above. Hard to see them.... which is probably good as...
Tumblr media
This Toucannon was woken by the commotion! It gave me a rather irritated squawk before settling back into a nap, I was guessing they weren't terribly active at this time of day.
Tumblr media
This Quagsire was playing with her Whooper pal by the waterfall pond, they looked so cute together! She even taught the little guy to do a proper cannonball!
Hehe, looks like i'm out of room for pics on this entry, more coming in the next one, as well as some great pics I got at night!

Darlain Pokemon AU Pokedex Entry 6
Hey! Ran out of space on that last post, but I couldn't leave y'all hanging on my initial Founja Jungle expedition! Just one more on my day trip, actually!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This Quagsire jumped in after it's Whooper buddy! I can die now, this is the cutest thing i've ever seen. I couldn't not share it with y'all!
But, seeing as i'm still ticking, lets walk the path at night, see what we can see!
Tumblr media
These Morelull were wandering all over, clearly a nocturnal species, and their spores seemed to have some sort of bioluminescent substance within, as they brightened up the canopy quite well! I suppose they don't mind bringing attention to themselves, as the spores also have a powerful sleep toxin, I saw a few pikipeks drop to sleep right away after harassing one.
Tumblr media
Some Bounsweet decided to rest on this Ariados web, thinking it was asleep, they were taken by surprise when it woke! Thankfully for them, I don't believe fruit is on the menu with these arachnid species, and they were ejected with a silk spray.
Tumblr media
This Leafeon was spooked when it noticed me approaching, but I managed to get a great shot of it overlooking the waterfall pond. I've never seen one in the wild before, perhaps the natural environment was a good enough substitute for a man made leaf stone. I suppose that makes sense. I feel so honored to get this close.
Tumblr media
A few Metapods were attached to a tree here, I dont think anything here can crack those hard cocoons, i imagine there will be new butterfrees in the area in a few weeks. Couldn't really get them to move much, probably too late in the metamorphosis process for them to move.
Tumblr media
The Ledian were perched on trees near the small pond above the river. They were pretty shy, looking around the tree at me. Kinda remind me of kids hiding behind their parents legs. Poor things, maybe they'll get more confident as they get used to me.
Tumblr media
Hey! They do have faces! Caught this guy walking around, grooming himself and looking for food, maybe? Couldn't get too much closer though. He was keeping the pond between us.
Tumblr media
Ths Swampert was happy staying beneath the murky waters of the pond, I'm hoping it isn't sick or something, seemed very lethargic and only popped her her head up to take occasional breaths
Tumblr media
Yanmegas are far larger than you would think, probably about 4 and a half feet long! Seem to like the fluffruit enough to swoop in and grab it before the Magicarp I was trying to feed could get to it! Was impressed it could eat it mid flight!
I imagine i'll be back here before long, but the Professor got some readings at an archipelago to the east... looking likely i'll have to get my swimming gear!

Darlain’s Photodex Entry One
((Hello! This will be the first post of many of an AU of Darlain in the Pokemon world. If you’re worried about spoilers for the Pokemon Snap Game, or just aren’t into pokemon and want to avoid spam, please blacklist the Darbiesnaps tag! ICly she’s posting these pics into an in-world instagram/tumblr social media site, so if you’d like to join in, feel free to reblog or reply. It’s all in good fun!))
Tumblr media
“I was feelin a different calling on the tail end o’ my Pokemon Journey, especially with ‘enii shooting ‘erself straight tae the top and becoming the Galar Champion. I knew I was always going to be that simple girl from Wedgehurst. So while a lot o’ my friends went the Gym career route, or ended up as big researches at Sylph co and the like... I felt a little stuck. Didn’t really take to battling. I loved my team more than winning, and spent too much time doodling in my notebooks, watching them play.
I’ve come across a unique opportunity, a little research job I found in my internship at the pokedex lab, a professor with very little funds heading to the Lental region for a Ecological survey, a series of islands surrounding a nature reserve, mostly uninhabited, aside from the campgrounds within the main island’s park.  My boss thought it’d be a great opportunity to capture data to sell to the dex cataloguers, and I had a pretty hefty portfolio as an amateur photographer from my Journey.
So... here we go, i’m abandoning my trusty pokedex, and coming out with my camera, an old fashioned journal, and the ability to fake the confidence I need to impress Professor Mirror! I’ll be keeping updates on my pokegram!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
“Professor Mirror’s a bit younger than I expected, only a few years older than me. Seems to be just a handful of us on the team, so i’m guessing he’s fresh out of university, this is probably a passion project he hopes leads to grants. It’s hard not to enjoy his enthusiasm, which is only magnified a thousand times over by his assistant, Rita. Rita reminds me a bit of myself when I was younger, passionate, excitable, and very naive. She makes for a good assistant though, wish my parents had sent me to one of these when I was her age, it’s a heck of an opportunity!”
Tumblr media
“Just finished putting away my things and the research center’s local denizen came right on up to say hi! Figured i’d test out my new camera and get a shot. Not the best start, but he was quite the personable little guy. Pikachus are what i’d classify as a personable pokemon type. Where it’s fellow Pokemon or people, they’re fairly fearless and prone to play behavior. Even predators know not to mess with them, so they tend to make playmates with all sorts of unusual species. Professor Mirror says he’s pretty famous on the campgrounds, and has taken to just... being around the Lab. I’m not complaining!
Tomorrow morning i’ll be heading out to the nature park for my first survey. Not sure how to organize my shots yet, but I think it’ll be a mix of focused behavioral surveys of specific Pokemon, and general photo sets of entire surveys. I’m pretty thorough, so hopeful you all will enjoy all the pictures!
Wish me Luck!

Darlain Photodex Entry 2
“Well... I ‘ad a day! Still impressed with how vibrant the ecology is ‘ere! Be prepped for a lot of pics!”
Tumblr media
“Caught these two running about the main nature trail, was surprised by them, and they seemed to be surprised by me! Pichu and Grooky are more pokemon i’d rate as sociable, but they seemed to be more friendly to each other than they were to me. The sound of the camera startled them and they scurried off. Felt amazed I got this shot, though!”
Tumblr media
Not naturally affable sorts, this Bidoof seemed pretty curious as it went about its morning. It seemed to be gathering sticks and bringing them to the river, I can’t believe it let me in close enough to get this shot, but that was about it. Nice to see I caught it’s curiosity, but as they are pretty notorious workers, I think I only caught it on break, as it swam off with its sticks fairly soon after.
Tumblr media
“There seem to be lots of Vivilions out and about in this area, and they barely registered my presence! Which is good, but also difficult to capture any specific behaviors from them. The flittered about, occasionally resting on trees, I couldn’t gather any specific purpose to their actions for now. Must be nice to have no cares!”
Tumblr media
“This girl scared the tar outta me! Didn’t even notice the Emolgas zipping around from tree to tree, and this one buzzed right over me. Glad my camera arm was faster than my eyes, though I really did miss the perfect shot. One day!”
Tumblr media
“Swannas overhead! Not an unusual site back in Galar, but nice to see out and about in this part of the world. Always did wonder where they flew off to. Can’t blame them though, cold back in Galar this time of year!  Pretty big lake around here, so no wonder they’re in the area.”
Tumblr media
“Almost stepped on this Wurmple, which would have been pretty bad for me. Those spike are pretty poisonous! They’re pretty friendly though, if you don’t mess with them. Not a hard shot to get, they’re pretty slow movers.
Tumblr media
“I’m shocked I ran into this Dodrio, never have seen one outside of the televised battles. I was impressed to see the rumors are true. The heads actually sleep in shifts, with one awake at all time! that being said, she seemed to be pretty lethargic, too!”
Tumblr media
“I thought this was a bush! but my camera clicking woke up this Tangrowth! Seemed pretty mad, too, I backed off in a hurry. That being said, it calmed down pretty fast, made a note not to startle it again!”
Tumblr media
“Unlucky guy beached itself, splashing around fiercely. I’ve been told not to interfere, but I felt kinda bad. I imagine this Magikarp will attract a predator at this rate. These things seem to be cursed, I swear. At least they’re plentiful. I once heard that this may be the most prolific Pokemon in the world, not at all surprised to find one in the Lentel region.”
Tumblr media
“What a beautiful flower field! I confused these Comfeys for flowers in the wind at first, but then they started to twirl around and scatter. Never seen one myself, interesting to see them outside of the Alolan Region, perhaps they floated along the wind? I’m happy I found it’s face, hard to see!”
Tumblr media
“And I guess this would be the origin of the flowers. Florgas are mysterious Pokemon, known for tending massive fields like this. She seemed pretty happy to show off her handiwork. I guess she sees a lot of campers, as she’s even learned to wave. Mimicry like this take a big brain!”

Darlain Pokemon AU Photodex Entry 4
(sorry for the delay on this, wanted to 100 percent the game first and... there's a lot of content!)
Today was... well, to be frank I didn't take the professor's claims of the Illumina phenomenon very seriously, but we got an unusual reading in Flores' flower field, and pressed on.
Tumblr media
This Meganium wandered right into the field, glowing magnificently! I quickly grabbed my camera and took a few shots.
Tumblr media
It took notice of one of the crystalbIooms, flowers that have crystal like growths that the professor believed can absorb a certain spectrum of light. I guess he was right, as when it dipped down to take a look at it, a brilliant show of blue light erupted from it.
Tumblr media
Sylveon seemed to be drawn in from the phenomenon, and terribly curious about me, I suppose he's seen the Meganium many times before. Was glad he came up to say hello!
Tumblr media
I honestly cannot tell when this Shaymin jumped on the Meganium, when it dipped its head down to eat some foliage, it was hitching a ride on her head!
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, the illumina effect seemed to have stirred up a next of combees in this tree, and they came out to harass the intruder, including me, I had to take cover in the field while she took over over the hill.
Back to the lab I guess!
Tumblr media
Professor Mirror, set up a spectrometer around the lab, and got a huge reading on the island to the North. Belusylva Island is home to a large mountain, surrounded by a vast rainforest. As it's completely uninhabited, i'll be pressing forward in my studies with the help of a personal transport, the Neo-1!
Tumblr media
This little buggy can submerge in water, and can levitate slowly with the latest Sylph Co technology. It's also got a clear shield that can offer protection for its rider. Guess his grant came in?
Anyway, wish me luck! i'll be back for a more in depth look at the nature park later!

Darlain Photodex Entry 3
“Decided to take a rest and camp out in the park grounds, and Light, did it pay off! Pokemon behave very differently at night, and with the help of some food, I really got some amazing things on camera!
Tumblr media
I was woken up by the the thunderous steps of a Torterra herd, and this mischievous little Scorbunny catching s break on it’s back! I swear the guy was showing off! Torterra, however, seemed deep in sleep, I couldn’t rouse it anymore than Scorbunny here.
Tumblr media
A little buzzing behind my ear and quick reflex scored me this great pick! I think she had mistaken my scarf for a flower, but at least she was happy to see me! She was zipping off to the flowers soon after, always busy, these Combees!
Tumblr media
That Grooky from before nuzzled up against a Torterra  with it’s little Pichu friend! This was incredibly adorable and i’m glad I didn’t wake the little dears. It seems small creatures might flock to Torterras for shelter around here, sleeping around the herds to avoid predation?
Tumblr media
These Caterpie were startled by my movement, hiding themselves behind the park sign, a good idea, I completely missed seeing them. Any birds would be hard pressed for find an angle to see them! I considered myself lucky they didn’t fire a string shot at me, though, would have taken awhile to get all that silk out of my ‘air.
Tumblr media
Finally caught a Hoothoot on camera and I managed to get a very rare shot! Scared the poor thing into revealing it’s other leg, which is usually brought up within its feathers while its roosted. Thankfully it recovered alright!
Tumblr media
“I brought some fluffruit out with me, and laid down some on the trails, see if I could bait some pokemon into the perfect feeding shot. Imagine my surprise when a giant Pincir lumber down the path and helped herself! They always look so angry in the shots i’ve seen of them, so I was excited to get this shot! I wasn’t prepped for what came next, though...
Tumblr media
Right after I headed up the hill to the lake, I heard a bashing sound and I was shocked to see a Heracross had flown in and started attacking the Pincir! I guess it must have noticed the food and flew in, only tosee Pincir had snatched his meal! They’re both pretty hardy pokemon though, so this was more of a show fight!
Tumblr media
The Bidoofs finished their dam! I was even able to walk across it over their fish trap, and this little guy popped up to say hello! I congratulated them on being homeowners, goodness knows i’m a way off from that myself!
Tumblr media
I saw something glowing on the horizon, and was shocked to see two glowing Swanaa flying around the Lake. Professor Mirror was ecstatic to get such a  clear shot of the Illumina phenomenon, he said he’d be including it in his research paper, and that earned myself a spot on the accreditation for it!
Tumblr media
Murkrows are fairly territorial, and somewhat impish creatures, so their first instinct upon seeing me was to try and pick a fight. I had distracted them from something they were looking at behind this Torterra, I wasn’t quite expecting something this amazing, though...
Tumblr media
Sylveon! I’ve never seen on in the wild before, and with good reason. Only a proximity to Fairy pokemon will trigger an evolution in Eevee... I suppose all those Comfeys and the Florges must ‘ave done the trick! I let her sleep, but not without sneaking a shot. My ‘eart is pounding!
Tumblr media
Just as I was heading back down the path, I realized this little guy had been trailing me the whole way. I gave him a little wave, and he scurried to a nearby crystalbloom and something.. strange happened, the plant opened up and illuminated the Scorbunny in blue, and he hopped right on top of the trail sign and started firing off some blaze kicks, only the fire was giving off the same glow! The professor examined this shot with a fine toothed comb, excited at the idea that illumina could effect moves like that.
I think i’m pretty good at this. We’ll be staying in the area for awhile, so i’m gonna try to get some really rare shots over the next few days. Wish me luck!
