“Me too!” Eddie calls, raising his free arm. The girls nod. Gareth is complaining about not being able to come. “It’s okay, bud. I’m sure your mother’s making her world famous chili tonight. We should be the jealous ones.”

That seems to satiate his sour mood a bit. He waves his goodbyes to everyone before sliding into the driver’s seat of his mom’s hatchback. The remaining seven of you split between two cars, Eddie taking Macy and her girls while you ride with Chris and Scotty. You climb into the back, letting Scotty take shotgun in Chris’s Corolla. “Bee,” Scotty pivots to face you from the front seat. “You like music, right?”

You raise an eyebrow at him. “Are there people that don’t?”

“Scotty? From band class?” Robin interrogates you over the counter. You’d sat on the news of your date all day, debating on whether or not to tell your friends before it actually happens. Last Night (as told by Robin)

“Hey, I gotta pee!” Robin shouts in your ear, and you nod, taking her drink back to your side of the bar. Robin is careful not to wobble as she finds her way into the bathroom. “Oh don’t worry, I lost my shot with her a long time ago.” Eddie doesn’t elaborate, and Scott doesn’t pry. Robin is silently pleading he pries, but to no avail. The footsteps fade from earshot, and she’s once again alone in the mens’ room.

You huff out a breath, heart slamming against your ribcage as you pivot to face Steve. He holds his hands up, an old Paramore record in one hand, the same one playing over the speakers. “Don’t look at me, baby. I’m not part of that circus.”

hi, thank you for asking - my music ecosystem is very dear to me. here’s how it works!

i use two DAPs (digital audio players), a sony nw-a55 in the colorway “twilight red” and a 4th generation ipod classic. for headphones i love marshall, the ones i have are the marshall mid anc.

in the ipod I have mp3 files of music converted from youtube on my macbook, which you can simply drag and drop onto itunes while the ipod is connected to your laptop. no sd card needed. you can also get mp3s from software that “records” spotify music, or you can go old school and burn cds. reddit can be helpful to find those programs and some are free and some are not. the ipod is my walking audio library, a physical archive of my music taste. it does not have visuals or the best battery life, but i am still happy to have it.

in the sony I have flacs, very high resolution files of the music i love the most. i purchase the music in it from qobuz, which is a website that will send you the files by email. once i save them i simply connect the sony’s sd card to my laptop and drag and drop in it the music. then the sd card goes back into the sony. the sony has a responsive and vibrant touch screen and a truly amazing battery life. i use it with the wired extension that came with my marshall headphones.

music is beautiful and it brings me joy, so i don’t feel at ease getting it illegally. i want to support artists and appreciate music as an art, but that can be expensive. the way i compromise and sleep at night is that i dedicate the ipod to archiving with lower quality mp3s i get wherever, and the sony to curating a collection of hi res bought albums which i pick mindfully. hopefully one day when i can do so sustainably, i will fully switch to legal hi res music. for now, this will do.

that’s all! when i decided to use my phone as little as possible and i started to read and think about digital minimalism both as a philosophy and a practice, i realized that an audio player is a way for me to do what i love (listen to music) without the chance of getting distracted or tempted by other apps, messages and so on. they allow me to be fully present with music. digital minimalism is not about having less, because my bag is slightly heavier now and my pockets fuller when I leave the house with an audio player. digital minimalism is about being present and mindful, having less distractions on our minds and being more in touch with reality.

Hello there, it's me, formally xcvii who sparked the Dead Anon Poets Society all those years ago. I fear I've missed much, but to my delight you've turned into a HP blog. I feel like immediately reassuring you though, in truth very little has changed over here at all. This blog has always been some sort of strange museum dedicated to myself, @thedeadanonpoetssociety being a very important, capital, part of it. Yes, you might have missed rivers of words and two new blogs (the society first moved on a separate website and then to its own blog here on Tumblr), but Daps remains to this day so linked to this very place it can be said there'd been barely any difference at all. I'd love it if you'd join us back over there, on our discord as well (the link is in the description)! Sadly lately I had to take some time off for myself because I had a lot going on and the society is quite high maintenance, but the flood of poetry is going to be back very soon. I cannot picture a day I'll stop tbh.

For the rest, I really wouldn't call this a HP blog, by any means. I loved the books as a child, but that's pretty much it. The direction of what I talk about here is influenced by my tastes, yes, but mostly it's decided by what the asks I receive prompt me to elaborate on - and it appears people love to read about my vision of certain villains, especially Voldemort.

As canon complaint as my writing always strives to be though, I'm afraid that what I talk about is a bit more complicated than anything one could find in the original saga.
