The year we are scheduled to win a trophy
Tumblr media
On Mykhailo Mudryk’s 8.5 year contract, 53rd minute:
Brother: Helps with FFP, I know, but we are going to be a team of Drinkwaters in 2028.
Me: God, seriously. But that's the year we're scheduled to win a trophy under Potter, since it took him six years at Östersunds.
Brother: I hope Tuchel goes there just to win that trophy.
Me: Oh man, but in only six months. That would be the biggest burn on Potter.

would you mind sharing some of your twow predictions/hopes? i'm trying to cope with a lack of twow 🤒
oh man where would i even begin. im gonna do straight up hard predictions and not allow myself to be very self indulgent here is what i think will happen unironically
melisandre does not intentionally resurrect jon bc that makes no sense for her character. i dont think she'll be the one to do it at all but if she does it will be an accident and also a brain shattering experience for her
jon is considered king beyond the wall (not king in the north.... yet) but you already knew that
jon spends more time beyond the wall actually. i am keeping this concept vague
night lamp is definitely real and stannis takes winterfell at some point but he wont survive the book
sam's oldtown chapters become unexpected fandom sleeper faves like theon's in dance
the rosby heir is olyvar frey
dany does not come to westeros before her final chapter and never even encounters jon. slave revolt in volantis yayyyyyy!!!!!
there is still no R+L=J reveal
loras ends up fine but drastically scarred
elia sand and aegon have a forbidden romance
pyp and grenn die offpage (i predict this so that i can be pleasantly surprised when they show up)
danny flint is revealed to be coldhands shut up actually
gerris drinkwater is surprisingly important to the plot
brienne and jaime both survive the encounter with LSH and survive the whole book i saw this in my mind
barristan either dies really early on or he eventually defects to join aegon because he thinks he's the more rightful heir. the ol treason for blood
the faceless men turn out to just be another branch of the iron bank who are doing assassinations for money more than obscure religious/political reasons. this blackpills arya enough for her to return home
sansa encounters jeyne again and this is what provokes her to move against littlefinger
theon...... joins the night's watch..... question mark
there's a gay sex scene but no one likes it

one of conte's major flaws imo is his inability to improve players and we've seen this here and at chelsea. the worrying thing about giving him money was always him spending it on players who did ok in other tactically organised teams but him unable to coach them well in his own set up i think this has been the case with his failure to integrate richy, perisic and bissouma into a good rotating system. 2017 summer chelsea transfer window is also a good example of this- dropping over 100m on players like morata, rudiger, drinkwater who won "winning mentality" trophies before they arrived but actually regressing under his coaching- tuchel was the one who revived rudiger's career. ppl think things will definitely improve when he buys good wing backs but in the past he also spent money on zappacosta who as awful under his coaching too. His talent ID kinda sucks! As well as his allergy to creative AMs. ppl have said his poor record in the CL is because elite level CL management requires spontaneous tactical tweaking and he's always been way too stubborn and predictable to change anything.
you’re absolutely spot on. alright tuchel didnt do a good job at improving strikers at chelsea but genuinely just think they’re cursed in that department 😭 but the way he improved that defence in just a few matches? that’s good coaching. i’ve also seen some people talk about the players we had under poch as if they were just always magically good and he couldn’t win anything with them because he was shit - he made them as good as they were. he actually coached them. conte is not doing that with the players he has now.
and you’re sooooo right about his taste in players, i don’t trust him at all!! that was one of the reservations i had with him when he first came in i was like ‘oh fuck this guy signed danny drinkwater who the fuck is gonna bring in to us’. his allergy to creative AMs is deffo a problem in how we’re playing - there’s no to do anything creative half the time??? im pretty sure at inter he wasn’t really playing eriksen until he absolutely had to and that was when things clicked for them?? use your brain antonio that’s what we need!!
his record in the CL is actually so poor. not winning a knockout match since 2013???? how am i meant to take that seriously. that’s something else i have to give to tuchel - he was so good in cups? 2 fa cup finals, a league cup final and winning the champions league is insane for the short amount of time he was there.
predictable is exactly the right word. and that’s why we’re having the same problems every match because other teams know exactly what we’re going all the time.

HOW THE ENGLAND FOOTBALL TEAM WENT FROM CHOCKERS TO CHALLENGERS IN 5 YEARS
A few years back, the English football team was considered a joke by many of the fans and the pundits. This occurred due to the disastrous performance of the team, not just in Internal fixtures, but in the major tournaments as well. The standard and the quality of English football had been deteriorating since the start of the century. Since 2000, there have been several low points in English football, with each being lower than the last one like not qualifying for the Euros in 2008, early elimination in the 2010 world cup and the 2014 world cup, just to name a few. In the latter, they scored just two goals, secured a solitary point in 3 games, and got knocked out in the group stages. But the moment when England hit rock bottom was in the 2016 Euro tournament.
When it came to the qualifiers of the 2016 Euro’s, there was optimism among the fans. This was due to their performance in the Qualifiers where they topped their group by winning all 10 games, scoring 28 goals,  and only conceding 3. Another reason why the qualifiers was a big plus for England was because of the introduction of fresh faces such as Danny Drinkwater, Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and the performances of John Stones, Danny Rose and Keiran Trippier in defense which resulted in England conceding only 3 goals in 10 games in the qualification stages.
But their performance in Euro 2016 of one of their worst in their entire tournament history. The finished second in a group consisting of Wales, Russia, and Slovakia, three teams who England should have beaten comfortably on paper. Instead, they drew to Russia, just got past Wales and drew 0-0 to Slovakia. There was optimism about England reaching the quarter finals as they had to face Iceland in the round of 16. But their tournament got worse as they lost 2-1 and crashed out of the Euro’s. The backlash from this tournament was heavy as several players such Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane were criticized for their poor performance and Roy Hodgson had resigned after a 4-year reign.
There were several theories formed by fans and pundits as to the reason for the poor performance of England in major tournaments. The problems were made clear from their Euro 2016 debacle. Many people felt that the team selection was wrong and people who were in the team did not deserve their place in the squad. Players such as Danny Drinkwater was left out of the Euro squad after a good performance in the league leading to a title win for Leicester city. The inclusion of Jack Wilshere had not gone down well amongst the fans either as he spent 8 months of the 2015/16 on the sidelines with an injury and had played only 141 minutes in the entire season. England had appointed Sam Allardyce as the new England manager, but he was sacked after one game after he was charged with corruption.
England appointed Gareth Southgate as their caretaker manager, following the sacking of Sam Allardyce and was made the permanent manager on 15th November 2016. This did not make England fans optimistic. The reason was because he had previously managed Middlesbrough who got relegated and he was the coach of the England under 21 team who had not been performing well under him.
Under him, they had performed well in the World cup 2018 qualifiers finishing toppers of their group with 8 wins and 2 draws out of 10 games and conceding only 3 goals. The pundits and fans were not excited about their chances in the world cup.
In the tournament, they won all 2 out 3 group games, losing to Belgium 1-0. They won in the round of 16 against Columbia in the penalty shootout and won the quarter finals against Sweden. When it came to the semifinals, England got the lead in the 5th minute through Kieran Trippier but eventually lost 2-1 to Croatia who went on to lose in the finals to France. England finished the campaign in 4th place after they lost their 3rd place playoff game against Belgium 2-0. Despite losing in the semifinal, players like Harry Kane, Kieran Trippier and Jordan Pickford drew a lot of praise for their performance in the tournament with Harry Kane winning the golden boot.
Following this their next stage of preparation was for the 2020 Euro. In the qualifiers, they had a strong performance, topping the group with 7 wins out of 8, conceding only six goals but scoring 37 goals. Fans and pundits lauded Gareth Southgate for giving chances to players who did not just play for a top six club. Players like Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips and Jack Grealish, Dominic Calvert Lewin and Conor Coady were given their chance to shine in the qualifiers. Southgate also gave chances to youngsters such as Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho were given chances in the tournament.
Going into the tournament they had an squad with an average age of a little over 25. They had a mix of experience and talented youngsters. They topped their group in Euro, won in the round of 16 against Germany, brushed aside Ukraine 4-0 in the Quarter finals, won 2-1 against Denmark in extra time through a Harry Kane goal in the 104th minute. In the final against Italy, they went ahead inside two minutes through Luke Shaw but eventually conceded from a corner which was scored by Leonardo Bonucci. The game eventually went into penalties. Pickford had made two saves in the shootout, but Italy cliched the final after misses from Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka.
England finished the tournament as runners up, but there was a lot of appreciation from the fans and the pundits for the performance of the manager and team players, especially the youngsters. They were a laughing stock in the 2016 Euro and nearly won the 2020 Euro.
There has been steady progress that has been taking place in English football and Gareth Southgate deserves a lot of the credit for much tough decisions and giving chances to player to shine. The Euros are taking place in Germany this year and Gareth Southgate has a chance to take the England team one step further and guide them to the title before leaving his job as England Coach. England go into this tournament with a little bit of negativity, considering their performances against the big teams in the last 2 years, but this tournament is a chance for them to but these negative talks to rest.

King vacates throne after 17 years as a professional
The news that Andy King, one of the most distinguished players in Leicester City's history, is to retire as a player at the end of the current season, came as little surprise to members of the Blue Army.
Currently at Bristol City, the club of his boyhood affections, the 35-year-old Wales midfielder has made just 14 league appearances during the current campaign and it was clear he did not feature in the future plans of boss Liam Manning.
Fans and former managers alike have been quick to pay online tributes to a player whose remarkable achievements during his time at Leicester lifted him to legend status.
After being released from Chelsea’s academy at the age of 15, King found another route into professional football at what was then the Walkers Stadium. To say he made the most of that opportunity would be a huge understatement.
The first signs that his career would be far from the ordinary came when he helped City lift the Premier Academy League title in 2007, beating a Sunderland team that itself fielded several future Premier stars, including Jordan Henderson, who himself would enjoy a notable career with Liverpool and England.
At that time, few believed that the senior crown would ever join its junior counterpart in the Foxes’ trophy cabinet, particularly when City’s first team were relegated to League One the following year.  By that time, King had progressed into the senior squad, but made a limited impact during a tumultuous and troubled campaign.
However, under the auspices of new manager Nigel Pearson, King was able to play a key role in City’s revival, gaining a regular berth in a side which swept to the League One title at the first time of asking, and maintained its momentum after its return to the Championship. During this time, he also gained the first of his 50 caps for Wales, the country of his grandfather’s birth.
Despite Pearson’s departure in summer 2010, following a particularly cruel playoff exit at Cardiff, King’s progress continued under Sven-Goran Eriksson, in a campaign which saw him finish as City’s top scorer and earn a place in the Championship team of the season. However, the impact of a rapid turnover of players during this period eventually told on both the team and King himself, and a string of indifferent results in 2011-12 heralded the end of the Eriksson era at City.
Even Pearson’s return to Leicester could not stop King’s career from entering a prolonged period of stagnation, which was a contributory factor towards two further failed promotion campaigns.  By the time City finally returned to the top flight in 2014, he was no longer a regular first-team starter, though the demands of a gruelling season ensured he still played a key role within the squad.
Many media pundits, together with a section of City’s own fanbase, were less than convinced that the team as a whole, and King in particular, would be able to withstand the rigours of Premier League football.  Indeed, for the first three-quarters of the 2014-15 season, neither team nor player did much to dispel such doubts.
But a switch to a three-man midfield, reputedly at the insistence of veteran Argentine signing Esteban Cambiasso, helped to bring a dramatic improvement in form.  King rediscovered the goal touch which had appeared to desert him, and his late winner against West Ham, coupled with another strike against Swansea in the following home match, helped to provide the impetus for one of the most improbable escapes from relegation in Premier League history.
This proved to be merely the opening chapter for one of the most incredible fairytales in the history of sport, with City making light of the departures of both Cambiasso and Pearson to launch an unlikely - and ultimately successful - bid for the title.
Although King often played second fiddle to the midfield duo of Danny Drinkwater and the hitherto-unheralded N’Golo Kanté, his deployment as an auxiliary midfielder to protect crucial leads during the closing stages of many City victories throughout this heroic campaign, proved one of many masterstrokes by the maestro Claudio Ranieri.
King thus became the first (and to date, the only) player in the Premier League era to win league winners’ medals at each of the top three levels. His goal against Everton in the final home game of the Premier title season provided particular delight for the City faithful.
He managed to continue this success at international level that summer, helping Wales to reach the semi-finals of the European Championships for the first time.
However, although he featured in the Foxes' run to the Champions League quarter-finals the following season, his career suffered a distinct downturn in the subsequent years. Increasingly marginalised at Leicester, King endured a series of unsuccessful loan spells at various clubs before finally leaving the King Power Stadium in 2020, though he still managed to set a record (later surpassed by Kasper Schmeichel) as the City player with the most international appearances.
But just as it appeared King would be lost to the game, Bristol City offered him the opportunity - which he eagerly took - to rebuild his career and realise further childhood ambitions. As a consequence, during the past three seasons, he has played a significant role in the consolidation of the Robins' status as a Championship club.
As he brings down the curtain on a distinguished playing career, King can look back with pride on his numerous achievements during the past 17 years. Not only has he lived the dream, he has played a full and active part in bringing others to life.
Many in the game, whether fans or colleagues, will wish him well in whatever he chooses to do in the future.
