Pokemon Journeys Episode 134 Review

Pokemon Journeys Episode 134. Let’s review:

So here wraps up Goh’s whole Project Mew arc. How do things end?

Hmm, decent-ish.

I will say that the remainder of Faraway Island that we see is pretty beautiful and whole supernova illusion is quite a sight to behold. There’s just something funny over seeing Mew a little bastard prick uncaring to others around it. And we got a LITTLE bit more character from Danika, so that’s cool. (and I’m glad the Groudon and Kyogre really were just illusions created by Mew cause I refuse to believe a water bottle and fucking Grookey would be enough to halt their attacks)

For things I wasn’t a fan of... yeah, I don’t really get why the other Faraway Island went apeshit with each other when the crystals lost their glow. What, were the glowing rocks like some kind of drug to them? And I know the whole scene with Mew attacking all the Pokemon around it is supposed to be played for drama, but I couldn’t keep myself from laughing seeing the little shit body everyone around it like if they were beachballs at a rave. And Goh’s whole talk towards Mew is fine and I’m with how his whole thing with Mew ended... but really? Nothing with Cinderace, Inteleon, and Grookey working together to somehow help their trainer with his dream, like fight off another illusionary Legendary Pokemon? Guess having the Galar starters interact with each other really was too much to ask for in this series. Cause heaven forbid Starter Pokemon actually interacting with each other. And Quillon’s still a shit character and I’m glad we no longer have to see him anymore.

Overall, a 7/10 from me. And now, two episodes left and I’ll finally be done with Journeys reviews. It’s been a fun ride, folks.

And oh yeah, Fuecoco was also in this episode, so this episode automatically gets boosted to a 99/10 because fuck you all

Spirit redesign part 1

Aries ♈

I'll be honest. I wasn't really bothered by Aries design. It looks cute, Sue me! However, I had always wanted to remake it a bit so here we are. I tried to give her more of a fluffy vibe with her hair and shoes. I also gave her goat eyes to fit the ram theme and made them gold. I also got rid of the light in her eyes to indicate that she is a celestial spirit. Plus I gave her a loose dress and scarf to give off a comfy feel.

Scorpio ♏

Scorpio's design, like Aries's, didn't really annoy me. Maybe because I thought it was cool. So this one is also a design because I wanted to. I tried to give him more of a desert travel vibe. I realized it looks more like a Japanese Romin so I decided to work with it. Made his hair pure white for two reasons. One: Because the white looked nice. Two:I added Black to show that it was dyed. Also I'm making him a bit of a trickster type.

Taurus ♉

His design was one I actually wanted to redesign for a while now. It kinda bugged me. Though his attitude may not have helped either. So gave him a bit of a farm boy vibe to him. I also tried to make the eyes more like a cow a bit. The star was accidental but it worked so it stays. I'm also changing his personality a bit. He's more like a brotherly figure to his wizards or at least he tries to be. He's also still flirty but more towards older women. Think Brock from Pokemon.

Mika: People would think she would pick some fight Pokémon but would go with Dratini. Neil: Most people would expect a ghost or psychic one with him, but he actually will have an evee. Connor: Everyone would agree on him picking some dog like Pokémon but he will have a Bunnelby Danika: Chansey is the one everyone will expect her to have, but she has a Kirlia. Aleah: Most would expect her to have something cute like Miletta or Turtwig and now one will see her having a Ditto Ezra: The opinion what pokemon he would have differ depending on who you ask but he would have a Pachirisu Now I am really happy my brother grew up on Pokémon, and I was forced to watch the anime with him lol

no because project mew’s pacing and execution sucks ASS like. some of the best characters in jn who could’ve gotten awesome development ended up being completely unknown because the story was jst bad 😭😭 and don’t get me started on gary. like he was just.. jn068 to introduce the concept, a few lines in jn071 to get goh angry, and then we don’t seen him again until jn102 where he again gets goh to think about what’s wrong with him? and then suddenly in jn113 all the development is over that’s it he and goh can be friends. and then he throws water on fake groudon.

having  grown  up  in  a  family  that  revolved  around  literature,  it  only  made  sense  for  danika  to  value  having  a  book  on  her  radar  as  often  as  she  did.  even  if  her  to-be  read  list  was  continuously  growing  at  an  alarming  rate  compared  to  how  many  she’s  finished  for  the  year,  it  kept  danika  looking  forward  to  reading.  admittedly,  she’s  a  bit  of  a  hoarder  when  it  comes  to  adding  to  her  own  personal  library  of  books  and  collecting  special  editions  like  a  child  would  with  pokemon  cards.  the  appeal  of  continuing  on  as  she  was  halted  when  she  moved  to  blue  harbor  and  she  was  faced  with  the  reality  of  having  to  move  said  collection  across  multiple  state  lines.  throw  in  the  fact  that  she’s  saving  to  move  back  home  at  some  point  means  that  she  probably  shouldn’t  spend  anymore  money  on  books  than  she  already  has.  it’s  how  danika  finds  herself  frequenting  the  library  more  and  getting  on  a  chatting  basis  with  the  librarians  there.  if  she  finds  herself  looking  for  a  certain  disheveled  brunette  with  a  proclivity  for  recommending  danika  stellar  books  then  it  is  what  it  is.  “if  you  think  you  can  go  five  for  five  and  find  something  similar  to  the  last  one  you  sent  my  way  then  i’m  all  for  it,”  danika  replies  with  a  smile  as  she  rests  her  hands  on  the  circulation  desk.  “you  seem  like  you  have  your  arms  full  for  the  rest  of  the  day.”  the  unintentional  pun  has  her  smile  widening.  “i’m  curious  if  re-shelving  the  books  and  having  to  make  room  for  new  inventory  is  as  therapeutic  as  it  seems.”

it was a quiet day at the library, with only the sighs of worn pages to keep jasper company, and so he softly hummed to himself as he sorted through the new arrivals. romance, mythological retellings, dusty vintage classics. piles towered over the slight boy that cast wobbling shadows over his features. the shuffle of company brought him from his trance. an elbow nudged the leaning tower of thrillers, and in a moment jasper’s arms were filled with cascading novellas threatening to spill. “hey! sorry, one second…” the paperbacks were shrugged onto the counter with a limp plop. breathless, they attempted to fix a strand of unruly brunette which promptly pinged back into its clumsy position. the ends of their fingers were inky from the ‘property of bhl’ stamp he had been feverishly slamming against the inner book jackets. “are you looking for something particular today? we have something for everybody.”

Pokemon Journeys Episode 133 Review

Pokemon Journeys Episode 133. Let’s review:

So how did things start off with the first part of Goh’s final Project Mew mission in Journeys? It was... atmospheric?

While looking for Mew at Faraway Island is a nice reference to the Mew Event in Pokemon Emerald (which was like Japanese exclusive because Game Freak was never at Mystery Gift, let’s be honest) and the part with the gang scaling the cliff did a REALLY good job in framing several times, showing just how high they were from the ground and giving the right sense of peril when their cable got cut. I before that, I really liked the reference to the Deoxys movie of having everyone’s Pokeballs getting shut off, preventing them from sending out or recalling any of their Pokemon.

Everything else though... eh. For one, Horace has a Virizion. Just casually in a regular Pokeball. From a past mission. The Journeys series is REALLY diminishing the impact of Legendary Pokemon as a whole, as Horace, freaking Horace, has more Legendary Pokemon than trainers like Lance or Cynthia. You can’t be serious with this. And with all of this in mind, how is Project Mew now any different from other organizations who’ve ALSO disturbed the territory of Legendary Pokemon at their own leisure for their own selfish purposes just to permanently contain away from their homes which in turn could ruin how the natural order of their environments.

And speaking of Legedaries... why is Groudon so small? It may just be the framing, but it looks no taller than an Aggron or Tyranitar. Remember when things were at least half the size of mountains? And it’s a little too hate to give Grookey some development. Recall that this little shoulder decoration has only used one move ever for a non-combat situation. And let’s not beat around the bush, Goh is definitely gonna catch Mew next episode. And boi, do I have some things to say for that next time.

Ah well, I’ll give this episode a 6/10. Yeah, I know I had some complaints, but eh, could be worse.
