What is one way you've helped your f/o grow as a person and vice versa? with Angel and Stolas

OHOHO god this is THE QUESTION to ask me, cecil lol cw: brief mentions of sexual assault followed by comfort + healing

with the HEAVY rewrites i've done to stolas' past, I've really shifted the dynamic knucks crackles. so due to an irl friend who still really likes blitz, and my beef with him as a character, i've actually split blitz into 2 different characters. they were a pair of conjoined twins that were traumatically separated, named blitz and blaze. blaze is the More Normal One that follows any sort of IMP plotline and deals with all the emotional complexities that canon blitz has in my paracosm, and blitz is Fuckface McGee who i've also kind of fused with striker.

and because of that, stolas straight up is NOT involved with blitz like in canon at all. however comma. the scene in The Circus when blitz assaults stolas is. too poignant for me to just disregard. so. that does still happen (the circumstances are entirely different, I'll save that for another infodump)

A lot of Stolas' plotline is from me dealing and processing my own trauma of being isolated constantly, so he's grappling with the fact that no one in his family loves or cares about him, being stuck in an arranged marriage, etc. In his teenhood, he views Maxwell and Anthony as an escape and a place where he can sneak away to express himself and stay in the warm comfort of his loves and not have to worry about the pressures of the royal world.

As he gets older, and as he grapples with Maxwell and Anthony's deaths, assuming they went to heaven, he has to "grow up" and grow past all the feelings he felt. he dismissed his own feelings about his attachments to them, not to mention the HUGE amount of backlash he got for fucking not one but TWO humans. he shoves himself into a box to become the bigger person for the sake of the Ars Goetia

But, as we all reunite, it all comes crumbling down. He realizes how happy he was when he was younger, in a place where he was completely unjudged by the two people who only ever really mattered to him. he grapples with all of the pressures taking a toll on him, making him so deeply out of touch from reality. he learns to relax, to unwind and to love unabashedly *his* way. He has not one, but TWO people that love him exactly the way he is and want to see every part of his soul.

As for angel!!!! i. actually intentionally wrote his backstory and his relationship to maxwell to mirror my husband and i. we dated in childhood and never broke up, so a lot of this i can't really exactly say publicly. We were traumatized together, and that brought us so intensely close that neither of us can function without the other, essentially. So Anthony and Maxwell are two gay teens in the 1920s dating behind their family's back who get *very* involved in Anthony's mafia family, normalizing what they were both going through. This caused Anthony to develop BPD and Maxwell is his FP all throughout life. Maxwell has covert SzPD, and really only feels comfortable socializing with Anthony, so it works out.

So... when they get separated in hell? Angel went on The. Biggest. Crashout. Bender. Ever. all the years of resenting his family, all the complicated emotions about having to hide his relationship and the fact that maxwell is just GONE. That's how he gets involved with Val. Val dehumanizes Angel to the point his self esteem is absolutely crushed. He only views himself as a sex object due to his work, and being unable to connect with anyone else emotionally after what happens. He *can't* let it happen to him again. He's not aromantic, so this fucking eats at him until his self worth is in the floor and manages his emotions with drugs. It gets to the point where he thinks that Maxwell has abandoned him on purpose, or that he got over him, or that it even wasn't real in the first place. He goes so deeply, and darkly into his own brain that he just pushes out any thoughts about Maxwell at all. Seeing Stolas all over the news doesn't help either. He even starts to resent Stolas, being the "cool, powerful demon that stole his boyfriend away". Even as he starts to open up to Husk as the events of the show go on, he has trouble fully feeling emotionally vulnerable with him in any capacity unless alcohol is involved.

Until he sees Maxwell talking to Alastor. It all floods back, their first meeting is.... A lot! Before Angel has a second to even process who he's even talking to, Maxwell rushes into his arms, embracing him and showering him in all the words he couldn't say while they were separate. It overwhelms angel, and he shoves him away for a moment as he finally processes *who* maxwell is and all of the years of self loathing he's been dealing with.

It's a long, drawn out healing process between the two as Angel's stay at the hotel continues. Lots of late nights talking about their lives, what they've been up to since, and even if the spark is still there (which of course it is lol). And they're happy for awhile, but do come to terms with the fact that their relationship is incomplete without Stolas, who they contact later.

In terms of what they've done for me, it's easier to talk about what they HAVENT done for me lol. These two are f/os that help me process a lot of my own personal trauma over all else.

a really well articulated aspect of daniil is that sometimes he will ignorantly be racist in a way he regrets later (towards the kin) but he will never not care about them as human beings. he does not need a reason to argue with big vlad about his treatment of his workers regardless of the fact he is ignorant towards their culture- they are people, and he cares about people. loves people even, in equal amounts to how much he's frustrated by them.

daniil i think probably is the most middle ground in terms of fanon characterization (doesnt have artemys problems nor claras,) but the most annoying factor in peoples characterization of daniil is the fact he cares too much. and he cares too little. and those are his two options. but his want to come off like he doesn't care that much and act like he is the most important person in the room is a reaction to people rejecting his care- he wants to be seen as important because he puts all his effort into Everything He does. caring has to be the motivating factor at all times for him if you want to write him well. his main trait and the center of his route is the fact that he cares a *lot* and he will not let himself stop caring- he may be egotistical about it but he will always be direct and naively kind. rude? yes, sure, but he relies on people seeing that he cares through his actions more than he does trying to be nice. he is the only protagonist who gets righteously mad about being told his existence does not matter. you cannot characterize daniil like he does not care. his definition of good or justice may be ignorant and naive at times, but he cares about correcting it. he gives so much of a shit about doing good he will let children take him prisoner because he doesn't want to harm them.

all 3 of us are biiig homebodies. neither stolas nor angel really likes the attention that they get from being a Demon Prince/World Famous Porn Star - esp with the controversy that would cause. when we do go out, we actually usually take dates in the human world! when my s/i was alive, he was actually already dating anthony! they were childhood friends hehe. stolas had ran into the both of us when he was still adjusting to using his grimoire for the first time as a teen, so most of our early relationship memories are In the human world circa like. 1920s. so we'll often go to old diners or soda shops in human disguises together!
