What is one way you've helped your f/o grow as a person and vice versa? with Angel and Stolas

OHOHO god this is THE QUESTION to ask me, cecil lol cw: brief mentions of sexual assault followed by comfort + healing

with the HEAVY rewrites i've done to stolas' past, I've really shifted the dynamic knucks crackles. so due to an irl friend who still really likes blitz, and my beef with him as a character, i've actually split blitz into 2 different characters. they were a pair of conjoined twins that were traumatically separated, named blitz and blaze. blaze is the More Normal One that follows any sort of IMP plotline and deals with all the emotional complexities that canon blitz has in my paracosm, and blitz is Fuckface McGee who i've also kind of fused with striker.

and because of that, stolas straight up is NOT involved with blitz like in canon at all. however comma. the scene in The Circus when blitz assaults stolas is. too poignant for me to just disregard. so. that does still happen (the circumstances are entirely different, I'll save that for another infodump)

A lot of Stolas' plotline is from me dealing and processing my own trauma of being isolated constantly, so he's grappling with the fact that no one in his family loves or cares about him, being stuck in an arranged marriage, etc. In his teenhood, he views Maxwell and Anthony as an escape and a place where he can sneak away to express himself and stay in the warm comfort of his loves and not have to worry about the pressures of the royal world.

As he gets older, and as he grapples with Maxwell and Anthony's deaths, assuming they went to heaven, he has to "grow up" and grow past all the feelings he felt. he dismissed his own feelings about his attachments to them, not to mention the HUGE amount of backlash he got for fucking not one but TWO humans. he shoves himself into a box to become the bigger person for the sake of the Ars Goetia

But, as we all reunite, it all comes crumbling down. He realizes how happy he was when he was younger, in a place where he was completely unjudged by the two people who only ever really mattered to him. he grapples with all of the pressures taking a toll on him, making him so deeply out of touch from reality. he learns to relax, to unwind and to love unabashedly *his* way. He has not one, but TWO people that love him exactly the way he is and want to see every part of his soul.

As for angel!!!! i. actually intentionally wrote his backstory and his relationship to maxwell to mirror my husband and i. we dated in childhood and never broke up, so a lot of this i can't really exactly say publicly. We were traumatized together, and that brought us so intensely close that neither of us can function without the other, essentially. So Anthony and Maxwell are two gay teens in the 1920s dating behind their family's back who get *very* involved in Anthony's mafia family, normalizing what they were both going through. This caused Anthony to develop BPD and Maxwell is his FP all throughout life. Maxwell has covert SzPD, and really only feels comfortable socializing with Anthony, so it works out.

So... when they get separated in hell? Angel went on The. Biggest. Crashout. Bender. Ever. all the years of resenting his family, all the complicated emotions about having to hide his relationship and the fact that maxwell is just GONE. That's how he gets involved with Val. Val dehumanizes Angel to the point his self esteem is absolutely crushed. He only views himself as a sex object due to his work, and being unable to connect with anyone else emotionally after what happens. He *can't* let it happen to him again. He's not aromantic, so this fucking eats at him until his self worth is in the floor and manages his emotions with drugs. It gets to the point where he thinks that Maxwell has abandoned him on purpose, or that he got over him, or that it even wasn't real in the first place. He goes so deeply, and darkly into his own brain that he just pushes out any thoughts about Maxwell at all. Seeing Stolas all over the news doesn't help either. He even starts to resent Stolas, being the "cool, powerful demon that stole his boyfriend away". Even as he starts to open up to Husk as the events of the show go on, he has trouble fully feeling emotionally vulnerable with him in any capacity unless alcohol is involved.

Until he sees Maxwell talking to Alastor. It all floods back, their first meeting is.... A lot! Before Angel has a second to even process who he's even talking to, Maxwell rushes into his arms, embracing him and showering him in all the words he couldn't say while they were separate. It overwhelms angel, and he shoves him away for a moment as he finally processes *who* maxwell is and all of the years of self loathing he's been dealing with.

It's a long, drawn out healing process between the two as Angel's stay at the hotel continues. Lots of late nights talking about their lives, what they've been up to since, and even if the spark is still there (which of course it is lol). And they're happy for awhile, but do come to terms with the fact that their relationship is incomplete without Stolas, who they contact later.

In terms of what they've done for me, it's easier to talk about what they HAVENT done for me lol. These two are f/os that help me process a lot of my own personal trauma over all else.

stability!!! both of them are going through so much all the time. i just want stolas and angel to be happy and safe for once. no more valentino, no more blitz, just comfy emotional healing together.

or idk i think they'd look cute in matching outfits, whatever they want more, hehehehe

im gonna be real a lot of the appeal of stolas for me when i was first getting into helluva boss was the whole like. secret affair thing. so thats why in my lore ive not only made it More prevalent, but also More taboo bc stolas dates TWO LIVING HUMANS instead of an imp while still married to stella. i love me a good forbidden love trope hehehe.

my s/i DEF falls into some good ole obsessive love tropes along with a good amount of himbo-ism. cw: brief mention of ritual sacrifice, serial killing, and mob violence my s/i's whole deal is that he gets involved with the mob and becomes a prolific serial killer so he can try to summon his demon boyfriend lol. he has! attachment problems and he doesnt really Know that its like. not okay to Murder People even if it's for love?

bc of that tie to the mob, angel (or ig anthony in this case) and maxwell have a childhood friends to lovers arc!!! which i think is always so sweet. its also got a touch of the forbidden aspect because It Is 1920 You Can't Be Gay, let alone in a polycule with a demon prince lol.

cw: angst, major character death, overdose, suicide + all followed by comfort

another aspect is the fact that it's all based around reunion. after angel's overdose, maxwell kills himself in one last attempt to summon stolas (and it's the One time he's successful), and they spend Years trying to find eachother all in hell after they died. Stolas was convinced Maxwell went to heaven (at the time unaware of all the Murder), and was ready to move on

however anthony got involved with valentino in hell, and therefore became SUPER FAMOUS in an attempt to drown out his memories of being alive. stolas was Aware of angel but was afraid to contact him due to the ongoing controversy with his cheating being outed at the time.

maxwell tries to find a sense of normalcy in hell, and ends up working as a candymaker in cannibal town with rosie! where he meets alastor, who tells him about his ongoing hotel project and ends up recruiting maxwell! he and alastor hit it off and do a whole slow burn qpp thing eventually, but because of that, angel and maxwell get to reunite and be all cute lol.

when the controversy quiets down, stolas hires angel for his "services" as an attempt to reconnect, and that's when he finds out that maxwell is ok! and then stolas hires him as his "private chef" (ie just a reason to keep maxwell around lol) and theyre all cute and happy in the biiig empty goetia castle hehehe

ABSOLUTELY. i actually have a whole hazbin rewrite that ive been chronically journalling for about a month now! BUT what's actually more prolific is MY PINTEREST BOARD

all 3 of us are biiig homebodies. neither stolas nor angel really likes the attention that they get from being a Demon Prince/World Famous Porn Star - esp with the controversy that would cause. when we do go out, we actually usually take dates in the human world! when my s/i was alive, he was actually already dating anthony! they were childhood friends hehe. stolas had ran into the both of us when he was still adjusting to using his grimoire for the first time as a teen, so most of our early relationship memories are In the human world circa like. 1920s. so we'll often go to old diners or soda shops in human disguises together!

stolas is a chronic gift giver!!!! he spoils me with very thought out presents, especially sweets! or baking equipment lol. sometimes he does have a Bird Moment and gives me various shiny rocks or things that made him happy and it's sooooo cute!!! he is also not immune to gift shoppe tchotchkes so he often brings me little things from wherever he has to travel to for his work

angel isn't really big on gifts, he's more of a quality time person but whenever he does get me gifts it's usually things for us to do together. like a new blanket to snuggle under, or a movie to watch!! fat nuggets usually gets the best gifts out of all of us. he's so spoiled hehehe. i usually spoil angel with gifts like handmade candy or truffles and he really likes them!!

oooo I think i'll answer both your asks for my little polycule with myself, stolas and angel dust!!

Stolas is more of a petname user than I am! He calls me his "little human" (even after I've already become a demon hehe) the most often, along with lots of "darling" and "sweetheart". he sometimes waxes poetically about me, using some fancy star metaphor but it usually goes over my head lol Angel and i are both chronic "dollface" users for eachother lol. beyond that, we often just call eachother the most shocking/raunchy thing we can think of to make us both laugh. especially in public lmao. but in private he's more affected by us using our names we knew eachother by when we were alive together. they mean a lot to us :]

Angel Dust and Stolas definitely a fun couple to watch flirt! stolas tries to be sweet and gentle, then angel says something incredibly raunchy and silly and then stolas one-ups him until they both fluster eachother into giggling messes
