𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗲: - WAITING LIKE AN IDIOT - 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗘𝗜𝗚𝗛- 𝘽𝙀𝙀𝙋. . . . Diego: Kate's uh- she's a bit of a handful ain't she?

Vera: She likes you.

Diego: Yeah well -I ain't sure how much real truth there is to that statement right now.

Dani: That's right! Golden Boy, how did your date go last night? Diego: Um- 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭… Vera: That bad huh?

Diego: It's like you go your whole life thinkin' you know all the right things to say, and then one kiss and suddenly nothin' makes sense anymore.

Vera: 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘒𝘢𝘵𝘦. At least she told you how she felt, I still have no idea what I did, and I feel like anything I say'll just make it worse.

Amelia: Women, am I right? Dani: Mels! I didn't even hear you come in! And - Hey! I take offense to that.

Amelia: Gender might be a spectrum but bitches will always be crazy.

Diego: Vera, this is 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗻- Dani's partner. And now seems like it's bout time I should be heading out. Amelia: Why?! Feeling outnumbered? Diego: I need to get the horses back and start closin' up the stables for the night. Vera? Vera: I might stay a bit longer if that's okay. Diego: You gonna be okay gettin' back to the ranch?

Dani: Mels and I can give her a ride later- go do your mopey cowboy things. Diego: I ain't mopey. Amelia: 𝘗𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵- Dani: He is so brave isn't he? Diego: Alright, now I'm feelin' a might outnumbered.

Vera: 𝘏𝘦𝘺- Diego. Diego: Yeah?

Vera: I've known Kate for a long time, and I know she's been through a lot. But trust me, 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶. And she doesn't like anyone. Diego: So what do I do?

Vera: 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲? Let her come to you.

Diego: 𝘙𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵. I'll keep that in mind.

Ten miles of desert away, Vera and Diego were commiserating in a much less crowded Rusty Horseshoe.

I could tell you that it was quieter because it's a weeknight, or that I meant to shoot this scene during the day but the outline changed, or I simply how didn't want to pose as many extras this time. I'll let you choose whichever one works best for you.

But the fact of the matter is - we're here now, it's been god knows how long since the last scene, and Vera has been spending the last few hours revisiting option 1 of her several coping mechanisms - rethinking every interaction she's ever had, while Dani and Diego try their best to help.

Dani: You're sure you don't want a beer or somethin'? Vera: [ 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙣 ]

Dani: I could run back to my place and grab some iced tea? Vera: ( 𝘮𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘥 ) I'm fine thanks. Diego: Well are ya plannin' on comin' up for air anytime soon?

Vera: Happy? Diego: It's an improvement, yes. Vera: Why do you care so much? Diego: I don't like seein' people hurtin'.

Dani: He's like that. Diego treats everyone like they're a horse. Diego: Now that just ain't true. Dani: It's a little true.

Vera: I think I accidentally met my mom. . . . Which means Poppy is my half-sister.

. . . Diego: That's rough buddy.

As Poppy's unconscious form hit the dirt, warm drops of rain began to speckle the earth. Rain is a common side effect of giant fresh rips in reality- which are, to be fair, a much more uncommon occurrence.

The larger the rip, the larger the storm, the more lag is created- knowledge that incidentally only a select few held close. So, to any random townie, it would seem that the warm, hazy drops of rain, while odd for the height of summer, were not that out of the ordinary at all.

And while Vera's own reality had stopped feeling like it was about to crush her at any second, there was still one more loose end to her story that Dani and Amelia were trying to help me tie up.

Dani: Really, rain? Now? Amelia: Weirder things have happened babe. Vera: Possibly today, even.

Amelia: So Vera. This M- 𝘶𝘩𝘩 Name? Vera: Classified. Sorry. Amelia: Alright then, this person- you like them?

Vera: Enough to have written it into a song that rhymes 'your hair' with 'I care.'

Dani: 𝙊𝙤𝙛. Vera: Yeah, I'm not proud of it.

Dani: And they like you? Vera: Well last night I thought they might but then I made it weird. Amelia: Well, what did you say? Vera: That's just it - 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸!

Everything was going great, and then BOOM it wasn't. It's like my mouth can only say wrong things. 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘮𝘢 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭.

Amelia: Okay then, well whats your best skill? Vera: Hand to Hand Combat, Gymnastics, Explosives Defusal. Amelia: Then just do that! Vera: You want me to punch them out while I defuse a bomb? Amelia: No- no. I mean like shut up! Vera: 𝘚𝘩𝘶𝘵 𝘶𝘱?

Amelia: If all your skill points are in the physical, then you just need to play to your strengths. Say what you mean without saying anything at all! Vera: 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸… Dani: Yeah, this could totally work- !

Dani: Like just grab them- Amelia: 𝘚𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘺- Dani: Consensually- Amelia: And tell them how you feel- Dani: 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩- Amelia: But not with words.

Vera: Like Charades? Dani: But sexier. Vera: I mean its worth a shot I guess. Dani: 𝘚𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘎𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘦𝘥.

Amelia: C'mon V, I’ll give you a ride back to the old Carey Ranch before this rain gets any worse. Vera: Thanks for your help today Dani. Dani: No problem, but next time buy something okay?

so levi accidentally knocked ruby up and she came over to tell him that. extra roommate for now....yay.

dani surprised levi at 11pm by coming over and asking to stay. apparently, there was a squabble between her and marissa and they needed time to cool down.

dani invited levi over to meet their partner, marissa! the night ended with them making nectar and levi busting his ass.
