THE MESSAGES The song is about two men (A rich SUV driver and a Commercial bus driver known as “Danfo”) who got into a heated argument that escalated into a fist fight at a popular area in Lagos called Bode Thomas. According to Falz he was an onlooker to the quarrel that very faithful day. He use his bars to analyses the event as it unfolded. He opens the song by stating that he saw Mr Jimmy as rich looking man who just bought an SUV with money he won in a lottery, shouting at the top of his voice. According to him, it was not long enough after he was exchanging insults with a Danfo Driver when the situation aggravated into a fist fight between Rich Jimmy and the poor Danfo Driver.   Unlike in civilized scenario where people come together to separate the fist fight, Falz claims that all the people around the area assumed different position to observe the free street fight show. He finishes off the verse by singing a hook which he declares that a rare event occurred in Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria. The second verse has Falz tell the story from the perspective of the three parties in the Street Fight show. The music industry neglected Mad Melon till he died - Mountain Black of Danfo Drivers speaks on how the musician died

Mountain Black, one-half of the music group, Danfo Drivers, has said that the music industry neglected his recently deceased colleague, Mad Melon, before his death.   Shortly after news of the artiste’s demise hit the Internet, many artistes posted his picture on social media, mourning his death.   In a chat with Saturday Beats, Mountain Black said, “Yes, he was neglected (by the music industry). We became popular in 2003, and we had been managing ourselves since then. I believe that with God, all things are possible. We believed in ourselves, and that is why we were still relevant in the industry till now. The industry is very wide; you can fix yourself anywhere and make your money. We were, also, both involved in transportation business.”   On the nature of Mad Melon’s illness, Black said, “I am not a doctor. I was actually not around. It was when I got back, I was told that he was not feeling well. One of his relatives called me and said I should come immediately because my brother was acting strangely. By the time I got there, he was gone. I was just told he was not feeling fine.”   Revealing the plans for Melon’s funeral rites, Black said, “the wake will take place on October 11, while the burial will hold the next day. We stay in Satellite Town now but we have to go back to Ajegunle where we were brought up. He is going to be buried in Atan Cemetery, Yaba. The people of Ajegunle have been very supportive.”     When asked what he would miss most about his former partner, Mountain Black said, “I will miss a lot about him. We went to places and worked together. He will always be in my heart. I can neither forget nor deny him– he was my brother.”

Danfo Drivers Reveals What Happened When They Met Tekno Contrary to popular opinion, Tekno did not pay a remuneration to Danfo Drivers for utilizing their material on his single Jogodo. Following the arrival of Jogodo, Danfo Driver called out Tekno in a meeting for inspecting their melody with authorization and debilitated to take activities against him on the off chance that he didn't make moves to redress his wrongs. Tekno responded quick to the video and he contacted his senior partners. He even shared a photo of him investing energy with them on his Instagram page, communicating something specific that they have accommodated and it was reputed that he repaid them with cash. He revealed that they had earlier agreed that they would see at the Eko Hotel in Lagos after the Headies Award but Tekno refused to pick their calls. “Why would you release a job without telling the owner of the song? When he called that he wanted to see us, I told him we were busy but we should meet at the Headies and he said it was okay. We were invited for the Headies at the Eko Hotel and he lives very close. On that day, we called him and he was not picking up. That was why I granted an interview where I said we were looking for Tekno. I told him we were not interested in his money but we wanted him to work together with us as a team”, he said. Mountain Black further stated that the rush to release materials is the reason why artistes of this generation like Tekno, resort to remaking past songs. “When we started music, we were not in a rush to make it big like they do now. We took our time to release evergreen songs. But all the songs they do nowadays don’t stand the test of time. I suspect that most of the new generation artistes are short of ideas – that is why they tap from our past works. But a lot of things are happing in the country that they can sing about. Mad Melon of the 'Danfo Driver' to be buried on Saturday 26th November

Mad Melon, one half of the popular 90s group 'Danfo Drivers' will be laid to rest on Saturday, October 26, 2019.   The veteran Nigerian singer whose real name was Oghenemaro Emeofa passed away after a brief illness at the Tolu Medical Centre Hospital in Ajegunle, on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. He was 42.   Mad Melon is survived by his wife and two children   The late singer and his partner who drove a commercial bus to make ends meet were discovered by Cornerstone Music in 2003.

Veteran music duo, Mad Melon and Mountain Black popularly known as ‘Danfo Drivers’ have finally reacted to Tekno’s latest song ‘Jogodo’. They allege Tekno sampled their 2008 song ‘Kpolongo’ to make the song without their consent.

According to the veterans, Tekno sampled their material without their consent or even reaching out to them and they are quite angry.
