Musical Monday

Hello!!! Back from my wedding and mini-honeymoon in Escondido (epic 10-day Maui honeymoon coming up next month!). Until then, the regular posts shall spring up again. This week is a musical dance extravaganza. Though a dance revue, it did not rise to a level of defeating the other 1986 nominees, including Choreography. Make sure to spot as we salsa our way into this week's Musical Monday!

Musical: Tango Argentino

Conceived by: Claudio Segovia and Hector Orezzoli

Broadway Run: ORIGINAL CAST= October 9, 1985 - March 30, 1986

                            REVIVAL CAST= November 16, 1999 - January 9, 2000

Awards Won: ORIGINAL CAST= None

                         REVIVAL CAST= None

Other: Is the only 1986 Best Musical loser which has seen a revival.

Fun Fact: Received a 1986 Drama Desk nomination for being a Unique Theatrical Experience. The revival was up for the 2000 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.

So there ya have it: a revived musical with zero awards to show for it. But, it's always an honor just to be nominated. The original production entertained for a 199-show run, so at least a good group of audiences were able to enjoy it. Later this week, you can look forward to a Season Announcement Wednesday and I'm seeing a few shows, so reviews will be posted soon after. It's always great to see theatre so go, go see some!
