Dana Tanamachi
Dana Tanamachi is a lettering artist and designer who enjoys living a quiet life. In 2009, an impromptu chalk installation for a Brooklyn housewarming party landed Dana her first commission for Google and set the popular chalk-lettering trend—and her career—in motion. Her work is highly ornate and historically inspired, something that I want to do with my own creations.

Stamps available from USPS Fall 2020
All of these stamps, and more, are available for purchase on usps.com. You can also walk into any post office and ask what stamps they have available. Getting a cool-looking stamp costs the same amount as getting a boring stamp!
My first recommendation are these stamps issued July 2019 to commemorate the first moon landing, which took place July 20, 1969. I’m putting them first because the moon stamps would look amazing on a spoopy Halloween card. There are two different designs in the set, and both have silver foil elements. The one drawback is that they look so lux that my handwriting and stationery don’t measure up.
USPS.com also has Sally Ride stamps from 2018 available. Who doesn’t appreciate U.S. space program history?
These “thank you” stamps designed by Dana Tanamachi are new as of August. I love being able to match a stamp perfectly to a piece of mail, and what could be more perfect than this for sending a “thank you” card? The lettering is gold foil so it adds a bit of class to your post as well.
There are two stamps in the Bugs Bunny stamp collection where Bugs Bunny has boobs.
I had never heard of artist Ruth Asawa until USPS released this stamp set in August. It features 10 different designs featuring wire sculptures by Asawa. These are some of the most contemporary stamps available right now, if you want a more modern look on your mail.
Like the Ruth Asawa stamps, the Voices of the Harlem Renaissance stamps give folks a reason to research someone new. Langston Hughes and the other most known Harlem Renaissance figures are absent, with novelist Nella Larsen as the most recognizable writer here. The others, according to the description on USPS.com, are “writer, philosopher, educator, and arts advocate Alain Locke; [...] bibliophile and historian Arturo Alfonso Schomburg, and poet Anne Spencer.”

Review: ESV Illuminated Bible, Art Journaling Edition
The start of the new year brings new opportunities and challenges for Bible reading. While it is easy to make big plans and goals, it can be hard to get started and keep things fresh as the winter continues. When I saw the ESV Illuminated Bible, Art Journaling Edition was available to review, it was the perfect opportunity to see the Bible in a new light.
An Artist to Inspire You
Here is Crossway’s official author bio on Dana Tanamachi: Dana Tanamachi is a lettering artist and designer based in Seattle. Her work has been featured by Google, Target, Nike, The Wall Street Journal, and Random House, among many others. Learn more at tanamachistudios.com.
This Bible is packed with 64 full-page, custom book opener illustrations, 50 full page verse illustrations, 250+ hand-lettered margin verses, and 100+ other illustrations throughout. All of the popular verses are presented, leaving you to springboard your own ideas or dive for more lesser-known verses to illustrate.
A Bible You Will Want To Engage
I was excited to discover new illustrations in my daily readings. This Bible is a book that is fit for adult hands, but it is not heavy. The pages are delicate which caused me to be careful with each page turn.
The black letter text on the cream-colored paper is easy on the eyes. With a type size of 9-point Lexicon, I did not have to wear my glasses or strain my eyes to read. The wide margins gave ample room for notes and my own illustrations. The Bible was inviting me to interact with it.
A Bible for Rich Reflection
This Bible was made for you to reflect on the inspired words of Scripture. The words come alive through the illustrations, and they invite you to dwell on the words by illustrating your own. It is the perfect start for those who are serious about their art but also serious about their engagement with the Bible.
As the year continues, my Bible reading might become dull and dry. It can easily turn into a chore. I am thankful for those who bring fresh life to old words. All art points back to the original Artist. And his words are living and active.
Crossway has provided me with a complimentary copy of the ESV Illuminated Bible, Art Journaling Edition through their Blog Review Program.
