Was Disney better than Nickelodeon?

Okay, the Walt Disney company as a whole does have a history of racism, sexism, and p*dophilia for the 100 years it's been around but when you put their kids channel against Nickelodeon, it's the only time that they weren't the bad guys. Yes, til this day Disney is still one of the greediest corporations of all time, but this is the only time I will stick up for Disney, as a Disney hater! DISNEY CHANNEL WAS NOT AS BAD AS NICKELODEON!

A lot of people like to blame Disney for being just as bad as Nickelodeon, but Dirty Dan Schneider did NOT work for Disney, and Disney fired a few people when The Sprouse twins spoke out about. Unlike Nickelodeon, Disney channel was more protective of their actors/actresses. Unlike Nickelodeon, the Disney channel shows had less dirty jokes and the young actresses were dressed less-revealing than Nickelodeon girls. Most of the Disney shows also had more values and lessons than Nickelodeon ones. I'm absolutely in love with shows like Bear in the Big Blue House, Good Luck Charlie, and Austin & Ally (all Disney shows) however, I can't even watch a full episode of iCarly without getting triggered... and I used to have a freaking DVD of iCarly. (Anyone got any ideas on crafts to make with old DVDs and CDs, let me know). There was even some stuff in Dirty Dan's shows that triggered me as a kid (Sam being too aggressive in iCarly, all the bra and panty jokes, the episode of Kenan & Kel where Kenan lost his pants, and the foot fish thing in Victorious) although there was one Disney show in particular that triggered me that and that was Jessie. Jessie is literally the ONLY Disney show form my era that I say is almost as bad as Dan Schneider shows. At least the kids weren't being abused on set though. If I were to bring back all the Disney channel shows from 2006-2014, Jessie would be the only one I'd say no to. It can go with all the Dan Schneider shows, even though it's not perverted, just really racist and stereotyped. By the way, I met an actress on the show and she was super nice in real life. I also feel bad for Cameron Boyce, because i heard he was really nice too. I'm not blaming the actors on Jessie, just the writers and producers.

I'm gonna put a list eventually about Disney and Nickelodeon shows that I'd want to bring back, and ones I'd get rid of but yeah, I hope you understand my perspective now, and know a little more.

2. Who is your favorite singer?

My favorite stand-alone singer is probably Post Malone but this is such a difficult question. I know this wasn’t asked but my favorite rapper is, without contest, Eminem. Always has been, always will be. Yk who’s growing on me as a singer, though? Ricky Montgomery. He’s slowly climbing my Top Listened!

3. Favorite Band?

Also difficult. I love so many. I’m currently hyper-fixated on Black Veil Brides once again, for the millionth time, so I will tentatively list them as my favorite band for now with the begrudged knowledge that this answer is subject to change at any time. I have been listening religiously for a decade, though.

4. Who is your favorite character of all time?

I hate you for asking me this! I have so many favorites but after sitting here and grueling over an answer, I have decided that it’s an impossible call-off between MCU Thor and Lip Gallagher. I have characters that I love a whole lot and go in and out of having a special interest on, such as Spider-Man, Batman, Deadpool, Moon Knight, Jason Todd, but they’re not at the top. I can’t even say that my current favorite character is actually my favorite character because I’d be lying. But my favorite character as of right now is Negan.

5. What is your favorite book?

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Until the day I die. I read it and it completely changed my life, seeing a book with stories so similar to how I’d grown up. I wrote passively, as an interest, but after reading this in 2 days (when I was supposed to read it with the class over the course of a month) I decided then and there that I wanted to actually become an author.

6. What is your favorite movie?

It’s been Avatar by James Cameron for almost 14 years now, since the day it first came out, but I think that the original Scream is finally starting to try and take its place as my fave. I suppose we shall see! 😩

7. Favorite Actor or Actress?

Ummmm, shit. Can’t choose. Jeremy Allen White, Chris Hemsworth, Matthew Lillard, Evan Peters. It’s an extensive list but they’re the ones who come to mind first. A lot of my favorites have already passed, like Heath Ledger, Chadwick Boseman, Robin Williams, Cameron Boyce, Angus Cloud, etc.

8. Favorite YouTuber?

I don’t really watch YouTube anymore—in fact I never got into YouTuber’s the way everyone else my age did, so all I can tell you is that Dan and Phil were the only people I watched on YT when I was younger. I think a little tiny bit of their gay rubbed off on me 🤔

9. Do you drink?

Errrmmmm. Not often. I used to drink way too much as a teenager and had a problem so now I really only do it if there’s some kind of occasion. Scared for my 21st birthday in November if I’m tbh with y’all.

A former Brigham Young University student faces up to a decade in prison for the rape and lewd conduct of a 14-year-old girl he met on Tinder.

Connor Hammond and his attorneys Kristopher Meek and Dan Dummar met before Seventh District Court Judge Steven Boyce. There, Hammond pled guilty to one charge of rape and two counts of lewd conduct with a child under 16 in exchange for the state dropping three other counts of lewd conduct.

Boyce sentenced Hammond to four years determinant and six years indeterminate for the rape charge. The Judge gave the same sentence for the two lewd conduct charges ordering those to run consecutively with the rape sentencing. Boyce gave Hammond credit for the six months and 15 days that he spent in the Madison County Jail.

Hammond’s parents spoke prior to the sentencing and reported sthey had a counselor lined up to help him, another 12-step program for him to attend and a job he could work at while serving probation at home in Oregon.

Connor Hammond’s Rexburg Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints bishop also spoke highly of Hammond. Numerous letters in support of Hammond from friends and Latter-day Saints missionary friends in Australia were presented to Boyce.

Madison County Prosecutor Rob Wood reported that the victim initially told Hammond that she was 18, but later admitted she was 14. The victim also told him her dad was deployed with the Army. Such information gave Hammond the opportunity to manipulate the vulnerable girl, Wood said.

Wood reported that Hammond had fondled the breast of a 17-year-old Oregon girl earlier this year. He also stated that while Hammond was in Australia and under constant supervision, he had five sexual encounters where he fondled a girl’s breast. Hammond had also failed a polygraph test where he lied about other sexual incidents.

Hammond told investigators that he never forced the girl to have sex and told them she convinced him to visit her home, Wood said.

“That’s true. We understand a 14-year-old is confused and is acting out. Both agreed (sex) happened, but they have different stories. No one other than Mr. Hammond knows exactly what happened,” Wood said.

Wood reported that Hammond told investigators that he felt pressure to get married following his Church mission.

“It’s mind boggling any 21-year-old BYU-Idaho student would settle down with a 14-year-old girl and have a family,” he said.

Wood also noted news reports where Hammond texted BYU-Idaho students telling them he had an impression to type their names into Facebook and hoped to meet them.

“He was preying on religious vulnerability and naivety at the same time,” he said.

Wood told Boyce that Hammond had proven he couldn’t be trusted and any kind of probation or a one-year rider would show the community that child rape wasn’t taken seriously. Wood also asked Boyce to sentence Hammond to at least six years in prison and to pay a $5,000 civil fine.

Meek spoke and reminded the Judge that Hammond had no previous criminal record, and that he had graduated from a 12-step program while held at the Madison County Jail.

“The retrospective of anyone’s life is that they’re not weighed wholly on the bad decisions they make. Connor Hammond certainly made some poor decisions. Those poor decisions shouldn’t be the only things that this court looks at in examining his sentencing today,” he said.

Meek noted that Hammond was “looking for love in all the wrong places. That could not be any more true than it was at the time this incident took place. He tried to find love with other adult partners. He needs someone to rely on in order to feel loved and cared for.”

Meek reminded the Judge that Hammond’s victim lied about her age, but agreed that Hammond should have ended the relationship when she admitted her age.

“He wanted to be in a relationship. She asked if they could be boyfriend and girlfriend — perfectly playing into his psychological issue. He recognizes now that he needed her, but he should have been smart enough to end it,” he said.

Meek reported that Hammond admits that what he did was wrong and that he has an addiction to pornography that he’s sought treatment for.

“Those are not the statements of an individual who believes ‘I didn’t do anything wrong.’ ‘It wasn’t me.’ ‘It’s all her fault.’ Rather, it’s somebody taking ownership for what he’s done,” Meek said.

Meek reports that Hammond has written an apology letter to his victim, but the letter has not been sent because of a no contact order in place between the two.

Hammond also spoke and apologized to the victim, the victim’s family, his family, the community and BYU-Idaho.

“I know I’ll have a lot of hurtful words thrown at me. I know I’m strong enough to get through this with support from my family. I know I need a lot of help. I’m willing to get that help. I just want to have friends that I’ve known for a long time,” he said.

The Judge noted how complex the case was, and that the state and the defense had suggested vastly different punishments.

“This occurred in Mr. Hammond’s car that got stuck in the snow bank. A 14-year-old girl was in the car. The officer had some suspicions about what was going on,” he said.

Police reports stated that officers found the pair on February 26 at Beaver Dick Park where Hammond admitted to having sex with the girl.

The Judge expressed concerns that Hammond failed to pass the polygraph test and had previous sexual contact with other underage girls.

Boyce was adamant that Hammond’s victim shouldn’t be blamed for what happened.

“There was a comment made in sentencing that ‘What’s causing her to invite men into her home?’ Men don’t go into minor children’s home for these types of activities which have been stated inappropriately as a relationship,” he said. “It’s far beyond that. It’s an illegal relationship. It’s against the law. It’s rape. It’s lewd conduct with a child und 16.”

The Judge pointed out the damage done to the victim and her family.

“The victim is going to take some time to get through this,” he said.

Boyce extended the no contact order between Hammond and his victim. He also ordered that Hammond register as a sex offender.

On the one hand, KRCC's Dan Boyce reports for NPR on the legal outcome of Colorado Springs' Club Q shooting :

"The mass shooter who killed five people and wounded 17 others at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs pleaded guilty to 74 federal charges on Tuesday. 

The plea deal, reversing an earlier plea of not guilty in the Club Q shooting, carries 55 life sentences plus 190 years in prison. 

Among the federal counts against 24-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich — who uses they/them pronouns — were 50 hate crime charges. The sentence is in addition to five consecutive life sentences handed down in a state case last summer. Aldrich also pleaded guilty during that case.

...Assistant Attorney General of the U.S. Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division Kristen Clarke in a press conference after the sentencing. 'Today's sentencing should send a loud message. We will not tolerate hate in our country and purveyors of bias-motivated violence will be held accountable for their actions.'"

I applaud assistant AG Clarke's optimism, but on the other hand, as the Associated Press reports:

"Louisiana has become the first state to require that the Ten Commandments be displayed in every public school classroom, the latest move from a GOP-dominated Legislature pushing a conservative agenda under a new governor.

The legislation...requires a poster-sized display of the Ten Commandments in “large, easily readable font” in all public classrooms...

Opponents questioned the law’s constitutionality and vowed to challenge it in court. Proponents said the the measure is not solely religious, but that it has historical significance. In the language of the law, the Ten Commandments are 'foundational documents of our state and national government.'"

It's believed by some of the anti-liberal far right that the inevitable court cases, should they reach SCOTUS, will be found to uphold Louisiana's law, following on the outcome of Bremerton, WA's "praying coach" case.

"The law prevents students from getting an equal education and will keep children who have different beliefs from feeling safe at school, the American Civil Liberties Union, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and the Freedom from Religion Foundation said in a joint statement Wednesday afternoon."

Eddy Wilson werd voor de derde achtereenvolgende keer kampioen. Soepe Koese en Jermaine Karg hebben het uitgevochten om de tweede plaats, waarbij Soepe aan het langste eind trok en Karg op de derde plaats eindigde. Dit laat de Surinaamse Bodybuilding and Weightlifting bond bekend (SBWB). In een sterk deelnemersveld lukte het Fabian Wehl niet de finale te halen. When I decided to start this account I was planning to draw from my extensive youtube playlist of covers for contestants, as I actively seek out and collect them. However, I definitely understand that followers of the blog will be interested in seeing their own favorites compete. For that reason, I'm listing the cover artists I follow under the cut for full disclosure. These are the musicians who have received a record contract via their work as youtube cover artists. There will be a later post listing amateurs.

Dan Boyce, writing for Colorado Public Radio News, reports that the idea to really squash the state flat would be more than just pulling it all to the same elevation, that is: "...taking the surface area of the state and stretching it out as if the uppermost layer were a scrunched-up blanket that you were flattening."

No, the idea is to flatten the whole thing, "...including the every bit of dirt and rock underneath the surface...squish the entire state’s volume."

The question of one-inch thicker--or higher--from where was answered as one inch higher than Colorado's lowest elevation.

Colorado's lowest point, the flood plain of the Arikaree River (outherecolorado) which still has an elevation higher than 18 states at 3,315 feet above sea level.

The result?

"The new post-squish surface area of Colorado, rolling out all of the earth from the tippy top of Mount Elbert, down through the foothills and the plains, everything down to one inch above the state’s lowest elevation, Miller came up with this result.

That’s almost 4.5 billion square miles. To look at it another way: rolling out Colorado to one inch thick leaves us with a surface area that is 22 times larger than the surface area of the planet Earth."

Elf atleten verdedigen Suriname op IFBB Elite Pro Roger Boyce World Cup

Suriname zal van 8 tot en met 12 mei 2024 met maar liefst 11 atleten afreizen naar Barbados om deel te nemen aan de IFBB Elite Pro Roger Boyce World Cup bodybuilding en fitness wedstrijden. Aan de professionele wedstrijden doen mee Fabian Wehl, Soepe Koese, Jermain Karg, Eddy Wilson en Randall Haakmat. Tijdens de amateur wedstrijden zullen Anthony Nekrui, Charelle Meyer, Rudolph Getrouw, Chayenne Madretsma, Vanessa Henery-Forster en Raphael Kromokarijo Suriname vertegenwoordigen. De delegatie bestaat verder uit een vertegenwoordiging van de SBWB, SBWB judges en 2 begeleiders of coaches. Vorig jaar won Eddy Wilson de Roger Boyce World Cup voor de tweede achtereenvolgende keer. Eddy wordt bij de mannen gezien als het IFBB Elite Pro gezicht van het Caribisch gebied en is door de organisatie benoemd als ambassadeur voor de Bodybuilding & Fitness sport in deze regio. Het is de eerste keer dat Suriname met maar liefst 5 pro’s en 6 amateurs deelneemt aan een dergelijke prestigieuze wedstrijd. Gelet op de resultaten van voorgaande jaren verwacht SBWB-voorzitter Earnie Eenig dat onze atleten het historisch goed zullen doen. Zowel de amateurs als de profs zijn volop in training en erop gebrand ons land waardig uit te dragen. Het bestuur en de atleten hopen dan ook dat via eigen inzet en onder andere sponsoraanvragen voldoende middelen beschikbaar zijn om deze historisch grote afvaardiging naar de IFBB Elite Pro Roger Boyce World Cup mogelijk gemaakt kan worden.
