Damuel x Soldiers at the Gate
How the Gate Soldiers react to Damuel.
As soldiers of the Gate, these commoner's have to screen everyone heading into the capital of Ehrenfest, whether they be commoner or noble. However, as commoners, any minor offense against the nobility entering the gates can earn a severe punishment. For commoners who lack etiquette training, interactions with nobles is a potentially lethal task.
As Lady Rozemyne's head knight and as a laynoble, Damuel is in a position where he communicates with both nobles and commoners. Knowing Myne's true origins, he acts as a shield for commoners against the nobility by handling the communication between the soldiers and nobles for urgent issues, such as when Clarissa arrived at Ehrenfest without the proper paperwork, or when the nobles needed to communicate information about the upcoming invasion from Ahrensbach. Even more so, he fought along aside them during the invasion itself.
He's a legit super star to them.

Honestly the more vaguely European-esque nobility stories, ascension stories, and fantasy isekai (and the various combinations of those things) that I read, the more I appreciate what Bookworm does.
Like for one, Myne is so much more interesting than almost any other protagonist in those stories that it's kinda funny. But also, I think I'm just too anti-monarchy to ever fully be sold on the specific brand of wish fulfillment that those stories usually have. Also a lot of them are really romance-centric, with any character that's not the love interest just kinda being there. In ascension stories, they usually don't have any actual attachment to their commoner roots, with the families or friends being either complete assholes or footnotes.
Even beyond those general things, there are specific tropes/common happenings that Bookworm does better. Like I've been trying to get into more villainess isekai; and for some reason there's almost always this moment where the MC, after being disrespected by a maid or other servant, will slap them to show her authority or whatever. Like it's supposed to be this badass girlboss moment, but she's just a rich noble girl slapping this peasant (that's usually just doing the bidding of the Evil™ noble rich lady who mysteriously goes unslapped). Cool.
In Bookworm, there are 2 notable "putting servants in line" moments, but they're much different. The first is with Gil, but 1) Myne isn't the one to hit him, 2) He's not being physically punished for being disrespectful, he's getting physically punished for putting his hands on Myne first [and in the lower city, where Lutz grew up, if you throw hands you get hands]. Then there's Traugott: Rozemyne doesn't even care that he was disrespecting her. She only decides to ruin his life when he shit talks Damuel lol
There's a lot more, like Urano/Myne being actually relevant, etc etc but I don't want this post to get longer.

I just had some funny thoughts on Ferdinand.
It’s a real pity that anime only watchers would not be able to understand and appreciate just how crazy Ferdinand are. When looked at certain angle, he could be said to be stern and unforgiving, while on another angle, he could be said to be crazy.
Remember that one time he threaten Maine to stop recklessly using her mana or not he’s going to tie her to a chair and made her listen to him describing gory description of how people who cannot control their mana die?
Also, remember the time he actually do so to Willfried because he’s annoyed by the kid’s whiny and bratty temperament? Honestly, when compared to how Ferdinand treat others, he could be said to be spoiling Maine!
Also, remember the time in 2nd year House of Lords where the royals were attacked on the graduation ceremony/Territories War? Yeah, Ferdinand blasted that Turnis Baphalem into ashes using high density of magic power in a crowded space. Heishitz shouted “Who the hell use such destructive magic in this place?!” and then Ferdinand calmly reply “Me.” It was so comical because after that, the other side could not even complain. Because the one that done it is Ferdinand. LOL
Also, the time when Ferdinand was fighting with Airvermeen and Gervagio? Haha that was priceless. The Goddess said that “There shall not be any killing.” and then Ferdinand opt to kick the man in the stomach, bound him with magic rope, rendering him immobile and useless to even continue competing with Maine. That was truly priceless! Airvermeen could only watch and express how scummy he thought Ferdinand was!! Hahahaha!!
There’s also the time when he threaten the royal family into submission. Aub Ehrenfest, Aub Dunkelfelger, Zent Traokvar and everyone there legit get gastric pain that day. Ferdinand just keeps on shooting bullets with his every words, not even caring about any of them.
There’s many more instances where I think Ferdinand were so badass-ly crazy and just outright humorous but putting that aside, after rereading the webnovel and light novel, I am once again reminded how good he treats Maine. Seriously, like when we got comparison, it’s just impossible to ignore.
First, he provide her potion/medicine for free even though he charges everyone else, including his own brother. Second, He listens to Maine’s opinion even though they’re very weird and will explain everything to her. He could touch Maine no problem even though he avoid physical contact with human as much as possible (Heck, he love to play with her cheeks.). Third, he made sure to think about her feelings and made sure he’s there to calm her down when she’s sad. (Gyuu! OMG I love it!!) Fourth, he made sure to take care of her family even when after he’s gone. (AKA arranging Damuel as intermediary.) Fifth, he made her many amulets and accessories even though he didn’t even put any effort for his fiancée's engagement stone. (He legit made Maine a talisman hairpin instead of the engagement stone before leaving for his engagement. What the hell? yeah we hate Dietrinde but for those who didn’t know the inside story, that’s just weird Ferdinand.) Sixth, he’s considerate to Maine when he knows Maine hates seeing blood. Every time things got bloody he’d cover her with his sleeve. Seventh, he let Maine into his hidden room. That’s private space yo! Not even family members went into each other’s hidden room.
There’s many more but I could not name them at the top of my head. Anyway, as obvious as it is, I’m a Fermai shipper. Hopefully we get that sweet season 3 soon!

i'm in the epilogue of p3v5 and,,, i love charlotte so much she's so cute ohmygod
Wow, you are flying thru the series! I know Charlotte is adorable, and so is Philine and Angelica and Cornelius, and poor Damuel lol :) I love Elvira too!
I really like how she writes kids, in our modern day we forget just how capable and mature kids can and used to be when times demanded they mature and work at an early age. I'm sometimes thrown off at just how mature and thoughtful they are all trying to be, and yet they all still have moments of being young and inexperienced.
Noble kids are just raised differently and even with all their privileges, their stress and expectations are also really high. I really enjoy the different perspective of these sub cultures (commoner - merchants - nobles) that Rozemyne has to navigate and how her modern thinking (our view) clashes or is just very different and all the confusion it brings.
I always appreciate that no matter how immature Rozemyne can seem when it comes to books/reading, she does have the maturity to reign it in when she needs too and all the little moments of her more adult outlook / experience shocks and impresses other kids and some adults too into thinking she is a prodigy. It is quite a funny series!

Ascendance of a bookworm season 3 episode 3
That was a lot of progress. I know they’re streched for time so I won’t complain about minor alteration. The bit where Ferdinand had conversation with Damuel was good! In the novel that was supposed to be the extra at the end from Damuel’s POV but I appreciate it. We get to see Ferdinand lying down facts just like that 😂
And Sylvester is finally here! I have a mixed feeling about this dude. On one hand, I am happy with his character but on the other hand, I’m just too mad and annoyed at him. Haihhh can’t wait for next Tuesday to come~
