i just listened to a podcast with markus and apparently schuster wrote a book in which he talked about how difficult it was to choose between stephan and markus for the team comp at olympics
#i dont understand it completely but damn its so interesting to see it from the other perspective#i remember how mad i was for schuster not giving stephan a chance in both competitions#but markus also explained that he felt it was unfair#which i can honestly see considering how good he did#anyways look at me bringing up old stuff on a tuesday evening when i should be doing uni work#the only excuse i have is that the podcast is in german so u cold in fact count it as uni work#ski jumping#random#ALSO#there was a bit about party im deutschen haus!!!#season 2021/2022#oops

WEEK 4 - Wrap Up
Snappin’ necks and Cashin’ checks
youtube
What the hell is going on? What ever happened to weeks where 125 points would get you the high point win for the week? Now, if you don’t put up 170 you are screwed! What ever happened to having just 1 player on your roster questionable or on IR? Now, you can’t get to 3:30 pm on a Sunday without 1/2 your roster out questionable to return! What ever happened to match ups that were fun and exciting? I’m sure they happen but not lately for me! I know one thing - I have to start treating this league like it’s the “fricken” Catalina Wine Mixer or it’s going to be over before I know it. POW! POW POW!
USUCK vs TuPADRE
I came into this game believing I could do it. I could win back to back! Last week I was up against Howard, who at the time was ranked #1 in the league...and I did somehow pulled out the win. This week, Gullahorn was ranked #1 and so of course he was my match up. This guy is insane! What a line up. Wilson, Mixon, Kamara, OBJ, Fuller! Damn...what could I do? I tried my best but Gully put up 175 points which will probably be the high point of the week. Have to keep reading to find out but my bet is that you will see his name. Great week Gully. I think it was record performances for OBJ and Mixon, of course that had to happen on my week. Nice win.
BACKDOOR BANDITS vs LONG LEFT BALLERS
Wow. The “bandits” are on a 3 game losing streak and Bebo has now won 2 in a row! I know better than to ever count Kyle out of fantasy football. He will come with some major trade deal (just tonight he started that process) + a prophetic waiver wire pick + a name change and go on to win 9 in a row so...hear me say, Kyle is not out of this. Proud of you Bebo! Two great weeks and your team is really clicking. In a normal year you probably would have had a high point win - but this is 2020 so you just have to settle for moving to 2-2. Keep at it Kyle...you’re up against Stu next week so you have that going for you!
HOWARD vs MR. AWESOME
Loved this GIF for the match up against Gabe. Just envisioning him telling all of us to F off this year - especially Rob for helping him move to 0-4. Rob is fine. He’s a winner...we all know that.
Udate on Gabe - he is back home now and I was able to see him last week for an hour. I know he is thankful to be home, but there is still a lot of adjustments to make and work for him to do. He did tell me that he loves to watch football on the weekends - and even though I tried to advise him a bit on his team, he has had a few other things more important than managing his team at the moment :) Congrats Rob. You are off to a great start!
TRADE WITH ME vs MOOSES ON THE LOOSES
youtube
I can’t believe I haven’t put this on the thread yet. In celebration of Mitch’s win...he will get 12 more youtube views. Sorry Brett...keeping this short and sweet so everyone can enjoy the video but I did want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Sorry you couldn’t get a win for your special day.
FUNK GUY vs TREE HUGGERS
2-1 Tree Huggers vs 2-1 Funk Guy....both with last minute bye week change ups - Scott with Smith-Schuster (PIT) and Dana with his 25 point kicker Gostkowski (TEN)...pretty good match up and going into MNF it was advantage Tree Huggers score wise. But Dana had quite the arsenal left - with Mahomes, Aaron Jones and Packers Def vs Matt Ryan. We all know what can happen when you have a QB needing to throw to try and catch up vs a Defense with points that go down everytime that QB throws....T R O U B L E. Going into the 4th Quarter Dana had the lead but only by 4.50 points. It would get back up to 7 with Aaron Jones bouncing off tackles and picking up 10 yards at a time and Ryan would have a few attempts to turn it all around for Krippayne, but in the end, the only thing that would have helped Scott win this week was a time machine, where Scott could go replace Gallup with Crowder. So Dana gets a hard fought win and moves to 3-1, 3 game win streak. Nice Win Dana.
BOOMER SOONER vs LANAKILA
These guys kept it close all weekend long. Going into Monday Night, Stu had 1 player left to play in the early MNF game...Julian Edelman. Cliff had 1 player left to play in the later game....tight end Hayden Hurst. Cliff with a 7 point lead. Anything could happen right? Too bad for Stu that Cam Newton had Covid and was unable to throw to Edelman...which means he only put up 3.50 of those 7 points he needed to force a tie. A tie if Hurst happened to fall coming out of the tunnel that is. So, Cliff grabs the win and kisses the trophy and move to 2-2. Don’t feel bad Stu - you are 2-2 as well. Perspective my friend! Nice win Cliff!
SURVIVOR
It’s over for me. I’ll just watch from now on. Breen Out!
HIGH POINT WINNER
No surprises here....Andy Gullahorn is your high point winner ($20) of the week with 175.20. As we all know - Andy loves Disc Golf. I looked and looked for “hot female disc golf players” on google images and it was pretty slim pickins. But I really wanted to honor Gully with someone that he would connect with so, this week meet Holly Finley “the Dutchess of Disc Golf” . She is a top disc golfer and well as a fashion model...and the hottest disc golfer there is...trust me. In the video below (click on third image) she states she is from Nashville, so Gully has probably already lost to her.

U.S. Marines move against the enemy in Vietnam in 1968.

82 comments “5 hours agoMaj. Sjursen believes that JFK would have fought the Vietnam War, a thesis which has been now so widely discredited I'm surprised Sjursen is still arguing it. ,That JFK would have withdrawn from Vietnam was first proposed by Jim Garrison in his book, "Heritage of Stone," and later by Berkeley's Peter Dale Scott (in a preface to the Gravel Edition of the Pentagon Papers), and then very compellingly (based on the files) by U. Maryland historian Col. John Newman (ret) in his 1991 book, "JFK and Vietnam" (updated since). Of course the withdrawal thesis was roundly denounced when it was first put forward. But a tsunami of scholarship released in the wake of Oliver Stone's film, "JFK," has closed the case: JFK would NOT have advanced the war. Even prior opponents of the withdrawal thesis have come around. On March 14, 2005 The Nation reported: “We also now know that Kennedy that same spring [1963] ordered the Pentagon to plan to have all US troops out of Vietnam by early 1965, shortly after what he assumed would be his re-election – and further ordered that the troop pullout begin by the late fall of 1963. But he did not, of course, live to see their withdrawal.”[9] This was an amazing metanoia for the leftist outlet that had not only hard-pitched the opposite a decade earlier, but had also used its letters pages to savagely beanball two well-known advocates of the withdrawl thesis: it’s strongest advocates, Peter Dale Scott, and Oliver Stone’s consultant-historian, John Newman.[10]Tardy or no, The Nation had finally joined the growing consensus of recognized historians and journalists. Naval War College historian David Kaiser, for example, wrote that his book, American Tragedy,[11] documented the “numerous occasions during 1961, 1962, and 1963 on which Kennedy did exactly that [‘stopped the United States from going to war in Southeast Asia’], rejecting the near unanimous proposals of his advisers to put large numbers of American combat troops in Laos, South Vietnam, or both.”[12] That conclusion was not at all what some informed observers had expected to find among the secrets.
University of Alabama Research Historian Howard Jones said that when he began his study he “was dubious” about the assertions of “Kennedy apologists [that] he would not have sent combat troops to Vietnam and America’s longest war would never have occurred.” But “what strikes anyone reading the veritable mountain of documents relating to Vietnam,” Jones admitted to his own surprise, “is that the only high official in the Kennedy administration who consistently opposed the commitment of U.S. combat forces was the president.”[13] “The materials undergirding this [Jones’s] study demonstrate that President Kennedy intended to reverse the nation’s special military commitment to the South Vietnamese made in early 1961.”[14]
Echoing Jones, journalist Fred Kaplan wrote that, “the argument that Kennedy would have withdrawn from Vietnam becomes truly compelling only when you place [JFK’s] skepticism about the war in the context of his growing disenchantment with his advisers … .”[15]
Historian Robert Dallek came to much the same conclusion. “Toward the end of his life John F. Kennedy increasingly distrusted his military advisers and was changing his views on foreign policy. A fresh look at the final months of his presidency suggests that a second Kennedy term might have produced not only an American withdrawal from Vietnam, but also rapprochement with Fidel Castro’s Cuba.”[16]
Dallek produced a quote that gives a sense of the newly visible JFK: “The first advice I’m going to give my successor is to watch the generals and to avoid feeling that just because they were military men their opinions on military matters were worth a damn.”[17] [Citations available, here: https://www.history-matters...
Similarly, James Galbraith argued the withdrawal thesis eloquently in the Boston Review. http://bostonreview.net/us/..
While I overwhelmingly agree with the Major on almost all issues, on JFK and Vietnam he failed to address the contrary conclusions of established, respected historians whose findings are solidly based on evidence that's emerged from the declassified files.”
+”16 hours ago Sjursen's strong language about JFK is far from true. To get an understanding of the shift in Kennedy's thinking after he became president, the best source is a book by James W. Douglas, "JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters," published by Simon and Schuster in 2010. Kennedy's worst mistake was to name Henry Cabot Lodge, a Republican who had been Nixon's VP candidate in 1960, our ambassador to South Vietnam. Lodge did everything he could to then undermine Kennedy. They two men has a long and fundamentally adverse relationship. Kennedy's desire to end US involvement in Vietnam was undermined by the entire Deep State cabal that included the CIA, US industrialists, and even some of his own appointees, notably Dean Rusk. It's unfortunate that TD isn't well-informed enough about US history since 1945 to call for a more accurate representation of history. I urge all those who comment on this piece by Sjursen to read Douglas's book. It's an eye-opener that far surpasses any of the many other books on the subject. Reading a lot of history books has not made this ex-soldier a professional historian. Scheer should know better, but obviously doesn't. On Amazon readers can find many positive reviews of the Douglas book by ordinary people. SJursen shoould also read the book.

The Steelers got back to business, and 5 more things we loved about the NFL in Week 6
The Chiefs took an L, Tevin Coleman slapped somebody’s helmet off, and Tom Brady is sick of the f***ing bullsh*t.
The Chiefs and Steelers matchup was easily the sexiest looking game we had going into Week 6. It ended up with the Chiefs’ first loss of the season, and the Steelers being the team that we thought they were — word to Dennis Green.
The Steelers reasserted themselves as AFC contenders with the win. Up until Sunday afternoon, most storylines surrounding the Steelers involved Alejandro Villanueva accidentally going out for the national anthem, Le’Veon Bell’s slow start, and Ben Roethlisberger questioning if he had it anymore. Sunday, they simply outplayed the Chiefs, narratives be damned.
Le’Veon Bell proved once again that he was back. He had 32 carries for the Steelers, with 184 yards and a touchdown. Antonio Brown also showed out for Steel City, with eight catches for 155 yards and a touchdown.
Brown also had one of the most breathtaking plays of the weekend with his one-handed catch that was tipped by a Chiefs defender. It was a game that we knew the Steelers were capable of, and they finally put it together.
But let us not forget about Ben Roethlisberger. He said last week that he simply might not have it anymore, and followed that up by beating the best team in the NFL. Sure, he didn’t stuff the box score with stats, but did say afterward via ESPN, “I guess this old cowboy's got a little bit left in him.” Because you know, old quarterbacks say corny things.
The Steelers have had the Chiefs’ number as of late. They not only beat them in both the regular season and postseason last year, but Roethlisberger has won six straight against Kansas City. With Pittsburgh now sitting at 4-2 — a game behind the Chiefs’ 5-1 for the AFC’s best — the win will be big for the Steelers if it comes down to tiebreakers later in the season. The chances aren’t low that they’ll meet again, and NFL fans couldn’t be too upset if that were the case.
Here’s the other best things from Week 6 in the NFL.
Tevin Coleman said “f*** yo hat”
Tevin Coleman is the second back in Atlanta’s masterful duo of running backs. He often gets treated like a much lesser back and second-fiddle, but the dude really is a beast. Indiana University — his alma mater — is 1) a basketball school and 2) Running Back U, shouts out to Jordan Howard.
On this touchdown run against the Dolphins, he literally said goodbye to a Dolphins defender’s helmet before reaching across the goal line for a touchdown.
As a person who thoroughly enjoys disrespectful plays in sports, this is up there for me for most disrespectful play of the NFL season.
The Falcons didn’t win this game, but I’ll take pride in Coleman sonning a Dolphins linebacker for an early season loss. The Falcons started off last season at 7-5, so there’s no reason to panic... yet.
Also, if you’ve never heard a football helmet referred to as a hat, I feel bad for you.
There’s nothing Tarik Cohen can’t do
I’m going to be That Guy and say that I told y’all so about Tarik Cohen. He’s the real deal, and has proven to be just that in his first six NFL games.
On Sunday, Cohen got his first passing touchdown, a beauty that landed in the hands of Zach Miller. Not even former starter Mike Glennon could do it better than this.
Cohen is a stupid good athlete — how many people do you know that can do a backflip while catching two footballs? That’s what I thought.
He told me at the NFL Combine in February that he’d be happy playing three years in the NFL and then finding work elsewhere, but based on how he’s performed so far, he’s going to be playing longer than just three seasons.
F***ING BULLSHIT!
Whatever happened to Tom Brady and the Patriots on Sunday late in the second quarter against the Jets, he didn’t like it.
It was, “F***ING BULLSH*T!”
You know what else is “F***ING BULLSH*T!”?
NFL rules against celebrations
The battery life of an iPhone
The Falcons blowing a 28-3 Super Bowl lead
Takeoff not having a verse on “Bad and Boujee”
People that hand out things that aren’t candy on Halloween
We gotta wait 2 years until the next Game of Thrones season
I could go all day but we have other football items to get to. The Patriots came back and beat the Jets after falling behind 14-0, winning by a final score of 24-21.
It didnt’ come without controversy, after an Austin Seferian-Jenkins touchdown was overruled as a fumble and touchback after initially being called a touchdown. Most Jets fans would tell that it was also [phrase that Brady uttered].
Teamwork makes the dream work
The Ravens needed something against the Bears, and they got it with Bobby Rainey’s 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
The touchdown doesn’t happen without some sabotage from his teammate Tyus Bowser, though, who tripped Rainey.
After Rainey accidentally tripped over Bower, players on both teams stopped and assumed the play was over. Rainey was the only player who kept playing through the whistle, and got an easy touchdown out of it.
The Bears still came out with the win, but it was a smart play by Rainey.
Kiko Alonso is a lover, not a fighter
Alonso could have sent Taylor Gabriel into the Mercedes-Benz Stadium turf on this one without penalty.
Instead, he decided to carry the small-statured Gabriel 15 yards. It was the most loving moment of the week in a game that can be very violent.
It was a funny and nice move by Alonso. He could have easily driven Gabriel into the ground, and instead carried him like a baby.
Good on you, Kiko.
“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee!”
Le’Veon bell scored a touchdown against the Chiefs, and decided to treat the goal post like a punching bag. It resulted in a penalty for Bell, even though the NFL eased up on its lame celebration penalty rules.
Look at him to go work on this thing:
SB Nation’s Norf Philly and alleged fighting correspondent, Tyler Tynes, kindly offered up analysis of Bell’s bag work:
“Ol boy is a better rapper than a boxer and he ain’t a good rapper. Ya mans 26 barely bends his knees. Footwork worse than Rick Ross doing the moonwalk. He doubles up on a jab then goes to the body then throws a looping-ass hook almost all with the same hand. Good lord. Put some momentum into those hooks, son. Twerk ya hips, beloved. This why Alabaster Anderson Silva aka Conor McGregor thought he could just walk into a ring with SummerWeather. I ain’t sayin’ I’d beat Le’Veon’s ass. I’m just sayin’ if I ever thought about going to the hellhole that is Pittsburgh with bad intentions, this ain’t deturrin’ me.”
Don’t sleep on JuJu Smith-Schuster filming Bell going to work on the bag.
The flag was worth it, keep doing you, Le’Veon. Time for the NFL to add the goal post as a prop acceptable in the rulebook.
OTHER THINGS FROM WEEK 6:
The Vikings thought took “keeping it cool” too far
*Drake voice* Golden Tate with the dance moves
DeShone Kizer got benched so Kevin Hogan could do THIS
Josh McCown looked like an American hero for a half against the Patriots
Tom Brady now owns all the important NFL QB wins records
The Jags and Rams got off to an incredibly fast start
Adrian Peterson might be back?
Mitchell Trubisky saved John Fox’s job
Kareem Hunt had this week’s rude stiff-arm of the week
Antonio Brown is a magician
Chargers won on a field goal, and anything is possible
Our Charlotte Wilder goes in on Ben McAdoo’s hair
Sunday scores:
