Mina's Thoughts on Katsushika Division
Akihisa Mashiro
"Akihisa Mashiro, perhaps the world's most renowned and infamous hitman ever. Can you believe this guy once was hired to assassinate one of America's vice presidents? Either he's more skilled than I thought, or America's not as advanced a nation as people think they are. But anyway, I don't really care much about this guy's life. Famed killer or not, as long as he stays away from my siblings and I, we'll have no fucking problems."
Touya Kisaragi
"Japan's most renowned serial killer. Would you believe me if I told you I had a run-in with this guy before he got caught by the police? This was back when I was first starting to get a hold of my... particular talents. I was wandering an alley, starved and going half-crazy. I wanted to find someone or something to eat, but there were no people out, which was a shock since I thought humans always found an excuse to wander the fucking streets at night. But I suppose this kid gave them a reason to not too."
"Anyway, I was wandering past an alley when I caught a sniff of a human, which meant... free food. Look, don't fucking judge me, okay?! I told you I was fucking hungry! Anyway, I wandered in the alley and caught a sight of this kid standing over an older looking guy. He looked like a thug, but he wasn't my main focus. The kid was. I wondered why he looked so familiar. But then I remembered that he was that serial killer the news must have been talking about."
"Before I knew it, the white-haired brat tried to off me like he did his latest victim. Ha! Idiot boy didn't know who he was fucking with! All his stabbing was doing nothing but pissing me off and making me angrier! So, I bit into him! His blood... it tasted fucking putrid, but damn, did it feel me up! I didn't kill him, though. I wanted to leave him alive so he knew that not every person on the street was an easy target. Hopefully, he'll remember that for the rest of his miserable life."
Rintaro Himura
"And lastly, Japan's most notorious arsonist. "The High-Rise Bomber, they call him. I wonder how many lives I'd have to take before getting a name like that. Unlike this guy though, I don't have to rely on bombs or fire to get the job done. All I need is my teeth, claws and a little imagination. Anyway, Hot Stuff, keep those fucking flames of yours under control. Wouldn't want you to end up on the wrong side of them."
Death Row Block
"Yeah, this team doesn't exactly feel me with fucking ease. What the hell was the Prime Minister thinking letting these guys free? Is she fucking mental or something?! Besides the fact that they're all fucking criminals who won't take hesitate to take a life, what reason is there for them to participate in this fucking tournament? Even if they win (which they fucking won't), they're going to die eventually. And if they aren't careful, I'll make sure its sooner rather than later."

Shinso x reader, Mina x reader, Kaminari x reader, Kirishima x reader
TW: Swearing
Note: another part of my high school AU! I've been wanting to write for some characters that I dont write too often, and I thought this would be the best way, enjoy!
Thank you to @katsuflossy for helping me w shinso and Kaminaris soccer parts😭
Taglist: @myhoodacademia @katsuflossy @iiminibattlehero @ecao @nnnoya @hawklmaoo @strawberry-ice @mixfi @wolfkid22 @mythiccheroacademia @myfandemons @lilsparkyswife @her-majesty-kiara @mindofess @kqtsukisgf @1-800-s1mping @angiebug101 @mads-fairy @solar3lunar

SHINSO.
He's one of the people that genuinely perfers being alone most of the time
And hes very intimidating to most people, but most realize that he's pretty chill and cool if you just talk to him
Hitoshi would be on the soccer team too
Number 12 baby (Ronaldinho's number)
Hed play midfield, and have insane control over the ball
Hes calm on the field just like he is off it
But he gets a little competitive sometimes, might have to sit down and take a breather for a second
He sometimes ends up talking shit about his opponents, and he is NOT quiet about it
Will look the exact player he's talking about dead in the eye and say that shit
"I'll knock your knees out if you push me again."
And he plays a little dirty, might kick the ball around in away that'll make people fall on their ass just to get a laugh out of it
He steps on and kicks shins too
Hes really the soccer teams MVP, they went one game without him an lost and realized just how much of a key he was to them
Hitoshi sees you as his good luck charm during games, if you're not there he feels like he can't play his absolute best
Good luck kisses before he goes on the field are mandatory, if you dont give him one or forget, youre gonna get a very sweaty hug after the game
Hitoshi has only ever come to school in sweatpants and hoodies, and only wears jeans or something other than his usual once a week just so he can switch it up
He probably comes in with major bags under his eyes and smelling like coffee
And just a little bit late
He normally goes out to eat during lunch, and always takes you with him and let's you choose
You're honestly the most underrated couple in school
The loner boy and his gorgeous s/o, it's basically a real life wattpad story
When people try flirting with you, he tries getting his soccer cleats out on them and you have to stop him before someone gets hurt
Hitoshi is just underrated overall and no one but you and his friens realize, give him more recognition </3
MINA.
The really nice popular girl of course
But one of the popular people whose popularity actually means something for once
Gets along with basically the whole school
And she makes sure everyone knows she belongs to you and you belong to her
"Mhm, I've got a pretty s/o, and I love them soo much."
Probably posts you on all her socials (that the whole school follows) everyday
Mina has been in pretty much every club and team, which is exactly how she got popular
She joins as many as she can every year, but her favorites are dance and volleyball, maybe soccer too
For dance she likes to show you her routines, and maybe even teach you how to do them if you're down for it
"How was that?!"
"You wanna learn it too, babe? I could teach you!"
She's the captain of every team she's been on
It honestly just comes from her being so charismatic and the way she can get along with people and bring everyone together
Mina is 100% best dressed
Best everything honestly
Best dressed, Best hair, all that
She's cool with all the staff members, so sometimes the turn a blind eye if she decides to head out at random even when she's not supposed to
The two of you are Thee School Couple
Everyone wishes they were you guys or at least had a relationship like the one you had
Everyone would be in tears if yall so much as fought
So 10/10 for both of you
KAMINARI.
Certified pretty play boy
Hes a flirt, and friendly, and super popular
But the playboy act dropped once the two of you got together, because that's when everyone saw how much of a simp he was for you
Denki would just constantly fawn and gush over you, it would be annoying if it were anyone else, but it was just so cute to see him be so crazy for someone after he was basically known for never being tied down
Hes on the soccer team with Shinso!
Number 5 <3
Who did you think was calming Shinso down when he got mad??? Definitely not their other teammates
Hes the teams striker, and him an Shinso are so coordinated on the field together it leaves their own teammates in shock everytime
Hes a good sport (unlike Shinso), and is very friendly with his opponents
Wishes them luck before the game, helps them up if they fall, even says 'My bad!' If he accidentally trips someone, and tells the good job if they lose
Like Shinso, good luck kisses are a must
They're more like good luck make outs with him, and he usually ends up getting so wrapped up in them that he only makes it to the field by the skin of his teeth (he gets yelled at by the coach a lot)
He gets so god damn DIRTY on the field
And it doesn't even make sense because he really doesn't slide around or fall too much
He just manages to come out covered in dirt, and the sweat doesn't make it better
Oh, and even if you give him a good luck kiss, he still hugs you after the game
He doesn't do it to be mean, he just gets excited when he's on the field and has a bunch of energy left when games are over
Denki takes you to get ice cream after games. Shinso third wheels sometimes, but it's cool and not awkward at all because you're all besties
Denki is the most popular guy in school, and he'd be most popular overall if it weren't for Mina
You guys get rated cutest couple by all the students because no one had seen Denki simp till you came along and it was just too cute
Everyone wishes they could be yall </3
And half the school has beef with you because you're dating Denki and they're jealous
But you guys are still an adorable and amazing couple so who cares
KIRISHIMA.
The super sweet and popular jock!
Hes the older sibling to all the people younger than him and in lower grades
Hes on the football team of course
The quarterback too
Number 44
Hes that player that the coach is really trying to get a scholarship for
The one the coach pulls off to the side and says "son, let me talk to you..." and then tells him how far he'll go
Colleges are already scouting him
Most of the school is crushing on him honestly
But they all know that he's all for you and only you
Eiji gives you kisses before games, after games and sometimes when there's a long enough break he'll run and kiss you really quick
Hes a vv good sport, always wishes players good luck and says nice job after games, and separates any of his teammates that try to fight w their opponents then say sorry
It's usually Bakugo hes separating because hes on the football team with Eiji when he's not in Boxing
Everyone that's younger than you sees you and kiri as big siblings, and those older see you as cousins
Yall are just that couple that everyone loves
The whole school basically gushes when you walk in wearing his letterman jacket or one of his football jerseys
You're the couple the doesn't disgust everyone when you kiss in the halls <3

Let’s Escape Reality
Jungkook x reader | pg15 | oneshot | barista au | christmas party | fluff | angst | mentions of death
Word: 5.6k
Christmas has become a holiday you never look forward to. Divorced parents, multiple parties to attend, but he’s always there to remind you that it never hurts to be a kid again
[Tuesday, December 24th, 10:15pm] Mom: Hey sweetie! Can’t wait to see you tomorrow morning! Your father always wakes up closer to the afternoon so he can wait while we have you all to ourselves!
[Tuesday, December 24th, 11:48pm] Dad: Hi baby, hope you had a great time with us today and we can’t wait to see you tomorrow whenever your mother let’s you go!
It’s currently five in the morning, your eyes barely open and thoughts not wanting to deal with your parents right now. It’s always the same with those two; one parent complains about the other. “Your mother is always so naggy” or “Your father never listens”. Always putting you in the middle whenever you talk to them or whenever you’re with them. They need someone to listen to them as they bash the other, and that happens to be you or your siblings. The daughter they created. All you want is for this day to end already, and it just started.
Forget the Christmas morning and lunch with your parents, forget wrapping the gifts you got for your family, friends and the person you picked to be secret Santa for. Forget the Christmas party you have later on today. Screw all of it.
Rather than going to see the other messages you got from your siblings, you open a different message.
[5:26am] Kook: Gooood morning beautiful! Can’t wait to see you at the party tonight <3
You can’t help but smile, feeling more calm than you did going to bed last night. You take in a deep breath, finally getting out of bed to take a shower and begin your morning on Christmas day. Plugging your phone into its charger on the nightstand next to your bed, you head into your bathroom where you start your shower. You take off your clothes, bringing your hand under the running water to feel the temperature. When it’s to your liking, you step in, letting the warm water run down your body. Thoughts run through your head as you close your eyes, taking in deep breaths to not have a breakdown.
Ever since your parents divorced, life has been difficult. It’s been four years since their divorce, but it always feels like yesterday when they announced it… separately. It was hard on not only your parents, but you and your siblings as well. Whose party do you go to? What is supposed to be happening New Years? Birthdays? Simple lunches that your parents fought over because one somehow figured out the other made plans with you. You felt like a toy they were fighting over; never considering how you’re feeling or how your brother and sister are feeling.
You suppress the urge to cry as you quickly take your shower. Once finished, you get out and put on pajama pants and a shirt, putting your hair up in a towel to dry before making your way towards your room to begin wrapping presents. You begin with the long distance lamp you got for you and your best friend. She always seemed upset at the thought of moving to New York for work and leaving everyone here, so you got her that best friend touch lamp that changes colors for both lamps when you touch it.
”She’ll cry when she gets it,” Jungkook told you last year when you almost bought it but didn’t. Your best friend was supposed to move to New York last year, but things happened and she did not leave.
“I don’t think she’ll cry,” you tell him, staring at the picture of the lamp on your phone.
“How much do you want to bet?” he challenges.
You chuckle at the memory. Guess you’ll see if today you lost that bet. You write your friend's name on the present, placing it to the side before moving to your mom's present. You begin to wrap the gift, thoughts going back to Jungkook. You wonder what he’d say when you’re at the store staring at an alarm clock you were considering getting for your mom at first. He’d probably lecture you. You think further back to when you first met Jungkook three years ago.
You sigh, entering the café with your friends. How much longer are they going to argue about team Clarissa or team Dante? In the end they’re both going to cry over the season finale.
“I’m telling you, Mina, Sophie is totally going to end up with Dante! He’s sweet and only wants to make them happy!” your friend Rory argues, walking up to the long line.
Mina only laughs challengingly, “Yeah right. Clarissa is the one for them. She’s been there since the beginning and she confessed her feelings for Sophie compared to Dante who acted cold and was a dick to her!”
“That’s because he has trouble letting himself feel something for someone again! It’s your typical troubled bad boy!” Rory protests, shaking his head before crossing his arms over his chest.
“Will you two keep it down? You need to remember we’re in public and no one wants to hear you gushing over two fictional characters,” Ben sighs, rubbing his temples. He’s clearly done hearing this conversation just as much as you are. They’ve been arguing since all of you got into the car to get coffee.
Mina sighs, “Fine. We’ll stop for now, but the second we get into that car, you’re gonna regret ever being on Dante’s team.” She pokes at Rory’s chest.
“You’re on,” he replies in a quieter tone, taking a step forward as the next customer goes up to the cashier and places their order. “Changing the subject,” Rory begins, now looking at Ben, “I know you’re a coffee fanatic, but why bust a mission so far out of our way to get coffee when there are a million stores closer?”
Ben smiles, eyes lighting up in realization. “Remember how I’ve been telling you for weeks that I want you guys to meet my friend Jungkook?”
“Yeah, but you never bring him anywhere when we actually get together. I still think you’re making him up,” Mina theorizes, looking up to meet Ben’s eyes.
“Ha-ha,” he mocks. “But no, Jungkook is real and he works here. I thought that the best way to meet a busy kid is to find them at work. Plus he makes a pretty damn good cappuccino.” Ben shrugs, gesturing with his head for the three of you to move forward.
“Does he work eight jobs or something?” you can’t help but ask. Ben has been talking about you three meeting this Jungkook non stop for almost two months, but never once has Ben actually brought him over. Ben’s excuse as to why Jungkook has never been brought over is because Jungkook is busy.
“No. He has six older brothers, so he’s always with them. They help him with everything he could need, and how to be a better barista is one of them.” Ben can only shake his head as he chuckles.
“Damn. Their parents got busy,” Rory whistles.
“They’re not blood related; they just grew up together.”
“Next in line,” a voice calls. You look to the front of the line, realizing that you’re next. The four of you quickly walk up to the woman behind the counter. She smiles her customer service smile and asks, “What can I get you today?” You all give your orders to the brunette behind the counter, Rory and Mina buying the most expensive drink they can get. She repeats the order back. “Is that correct?” she asks, earning a nod from Ben who is paying. “Okay. Your order should be ready soon!”
You follow the group to the side closer to the pick-up counter where Ben’s name will be called. “So where is your best friend?” Mina asks, eyes scanning the staff behind the counter.
Ben looks behind the counter where Mina’s gaze remains. “Hmm. He’s probably in the back or on break,” he answers, turning back to look at her. “He’s real.”
Rory and Mina can only chuckle at the determination Ben is giving. “Okay, okay.”
“So are we going to start doing secret Santa? I’m telling you, it’s a great idea,” you voice, pushing your idea on the crew once again.
You’ve been dedicated to having secret Santa since last Christmas. It’s something you have always wanted to do, but didn’t have enough friends to do it with. Even now you don’t have enough friends to do it without it being easy as to who was picked by which person, but if you find enough people willing, it’ll be a great idea to try out. When they say nothing you add, “C’mon! You can even invite your friends to join and hang out with us at the party.”
“Five people is still not enough, Y/N,” Ben says, shaking his head while giving you a sympathetic look.
You groan, “That’s why you invite some of your friends over so that we can all get to know one another and then ask who wants to join the present exchange.” You then cross your arms over your chest. “You guys always say you want to do something with friends only, and here I am presenting to you with a pretty good idea.”
They stand in silence, looking lost in their thoughts at your words. Finally, Ben is the first to sigh and say, “Fine. I’ll ask him and find some other friends.” He points to you. “But you’re planning the party for all of us to meet and the party for the secret Santa.”
It’s Mina’s turn to exhale. “I’ll ask around.”
You turn to Rory who only nods. Breaking out into a huge smile, you say in a singsong tone, “I’ll have everything ready. I promise.”
“Order for Ben,” a disembodied voice calls.
You all turn to the pick-up counter to see four cups in a drink carrier. Following Ben, you watch him drag the carrier closer to him. You don’t see him look up and smile as he says, “Hey.” You tear your eyes away from the cups where yours lay in wait for you to devour and look up to see Ben’s attention on the person behind the counter. He turns to the three of you. “Guys, this is Jungkook. Jungkook this is Rory, Mina and Y/N.”
Jungkook is for sure real, but he doesn’t even look real. He’s tall, almost as tall as Ben, but not quite there. His cherry red hair is brought back into a bun, some of it draping around his sculpted jawline. His round, coffee brown eyes glances at your friends before landing on you, a smile gracing his lips. “Hello,” he says in a silvery, husky tone.
You feel how Mina sounds when she replies, small and taut. Ben is friends with this God like figure? It’s not that Ben isn’t good looking—it's more that you’d have to be either very beautiful or funny as hell to be friends with someone like Jungkook. You’re putting him on a pedestal when his personality could be horrible.
“So, my friends—mainly this one,” he begins, nudging your arm with his shoulder, “wants to do a secret Santa and since we need more people, Y/N is going to throw a party beforehand so we can all get to know each other. You interested?”
Jungkook can only smile for a moment, expression clearly taken aback from the sudden invitation to a party where he’ll only know one person. He looks to you, his smile a bit more genuine and answers, “I don’t mind going. Just tell me when.”
You smile at the memory as you turn off the ignition to your car and get out. You stand in front of your mom’s house, letting out a small sigh before opening the trunk and pulling out the presents you got for your mom and one for your siblings. You stack the presents on top of one another, realizing that you’ll have to make trips. However, to your luck and the sense of a sibling in trouble, your brother appears beside you.
“Well if it isn’t my favorite sister,” he says, giving you a side hug before grabbing the stacked presents from you.
You chuckle, “If Cal heard you say that, she’d throw a fit.” Grabbing the other gifts and items you bought, you close the trunk and follow him up to your mom’s two story house. You make your way up the walkway towards the decorated front door. Your mom goes above and beyond when it comes to decorations. The outdoor has lights lining the roof, two inflatable snowmen were on the snow-covered lawn, and as you get closer to the steel entry door, it’s decorated with a garland running along the window and door; a wreath hanging above the entrance.
The door flings open to reveal your mom. She smiles widely at you, crows feet forming at the eyes. “Hi, honey,” she says in her nasal voice, opening her arms out for you to walk in to. You smile, juggling the items in your arms as you wrap them around her waist, hugging her tightly. “It’s good to see you.”
“Hi, Mom.” You release her, but she doesn’t seem ready to let go of you just yet. It’s understandable since the last time you saw her was around a month ago, but your arms are getting tired from holding all the heavy objects. “Okay—Mom, my arms hurt.”
She chuckles, removing herself and her grip around you. “Sorry.” She grabs the items from your left hand. “Why don’t we put these under the tree and have breakfast?”
You follow her out of the entryway and into the living room where the Christmas tree stands. It stands in the far left corner between the stand and the couch. It’s tall and decorative with old ornaments you made when you were a kid. The television is playing a Christmas movie you forgot the name to. It’s old, but the scenes play in your mind like a record. Your sister sits on the couch facing across the television. She looks up to you as you follow your mom across the room and place the presents under the tree.
“Well if it isn’t my favorite sister,” she calls, getting up from the couch, making her way around the coffee table in the middle of the room and wraps you in a just as tight hug as your mother’s.
“I’m your only sister,” you explain, patting her back before she let’s go.
“But that’s what Nathan said right?” she inquiries, laughing when you don’t deny fast enough. “That’s what he told me when I came.”
“You’re both my favorite sister,” he defends, shrugging his shoulders as he walks to the island that somewhat separates the kitchen and living room. He grabs a piece of bacon from the plate placed in what looks like a field of plates.
“We’re your only sisters and can you not eat until we’re all at the table,” Cal groans, shaking her head as she goes to the island to grab the plates and place them at the table in the dining room to the left of the kitchen.
Nathan says something you can't understand due to his chewing, but he nevertheless grabs the plates and follows Cal’s lead. You do the same, grabbing a plate full of pancakes and another plate full of eggs, placing them at the center of the table. Once everything is set, you take a seat next to Cal, your mom and Nathan sitting across from you. You chat with one another as you fill your plates with a little bit of everything. You listen to their stories as coffee, milk and orange juice is poured into cups.
Your mom took advantage of the three of you being in the same room as her as she tells you about that one day at work where one of her students laughed so hard at their own prank that they farted and that resulted in urinating themselves a bit. “I don’t understand why I chose to be a teacher, but here we are,” she sighs, taking a sip of her coffee.
“You should have been a nurse,” Cal chimes, shoving a piece of toast in her mouth. You glance between your mom and Cal, waiting for the tension to rise. With Cal being exactly like your mom; hard headed and with the same attitude, they always butt heads and sometimes ruin whatever get together you have.
“Elena is pregnant,” Nathan suddenly blurts. You stare at him wide eyed. Usually when your mom and Cal get into arguments, Nathan will come up with some stupid comment to ease the tension, but this one was a lot bigger than his usual lies.
“What?” you mom whispers.
“Yeah, Nathan. At least come up with a believable lie,” Cal chuckles.
“Uh,” he begins, adjusting himself in his seat, “today’s not a lie. Elena is pregnant—the doctor told us a few days ago.” He brings his hands up and shakes them lightly, somewhat looking like he’s doing jazz hands. “It’s a Christmas miracle. Merry Christmas,” he says in a tremulous tone.
You, Cal and Nathan wait in anxious silence for your mom to say something. She’s silent for a moment before smiling, eyes getting glossy and tears streaming down her cheeks as she reaches forward and hugs Nathan in a tight grip. “I’m going to be a grandma,” she cries.
Cal nudges you with her shoulder. “We’re gonna be aunts,” she tells you, eyes wide and clearly in shock.
“I’m going to be an uncle!” Jungkook yells, wrapping his arms around you from behind while you’re trying to fold your laundry. “I can’t believe it.”
You giggle, “I know, I know. You’ve been screaming about it since Seokjin first told us.” Jungkook introduced you to his brothers six months after meeting him. Six months after that you were asked to be his girlfriend and now in nine months time, you’ll be a not legit aunt.
“I always thought Taehyung would be the first to have kids since he’s such a kid person, but since Seokjin is the one with a wife, it makes more sense.” He smiles at you as he removes his grip from around your waist and takes a seat on your bed where your folded clothes lie. “I’m going to spoil that baby and ruin Seokjin’s life with how spoiled that baby is.”
“Well you’re about to ruin my neatly folded clothes with your determination to spoil a baby that hasn’t been born yet,” you laugh, grabbing his arm and pulling up off your bed.
You’re not sure why that memory came to you all of a sudden. Maybe it’s because you’re going to be an aunt in nine months. Maybe it’s because you’re going to spoil that baby like Jungkook always talked about and did when Haru was born. Maybe his dedication rubbed off on you.
“We should probably head out,” Nathan’s voice rings, bringing you out of your thoughts. “Dad’s lunch is starting soon.” You follow in suit, getting up from your spot on the couch in the living room. You grab the remaining wrapping paper that was torn apart off the floor, tossing it in the trash where the rest lay. Grabbing the presents everyone got you, you place them carefully in a bag, feeling the weight of it drag your arm down. "Bye, Mom. Thanks for the presents and breakfast." Nathan gives your mom a tight hug.
You smile at your mom as she releases your brother and opens her arms for you to walk into. “Come by more often, yeah? You only have one mother you know,” she lectures, rubbing your back affectionately.
You chuckle. “Yes, yes. I’ll come by and visit more often.” Saying goodbye to your mom, you get into your car and follow your siblings to your dad’s house on the other side of town. All five of you used to live in the middle of the city; a nice cozy home where you shared so many memories. Your parents divorced and your father moved up north while your mother moved south. Both completely away from one another where they never have to see each other for any reason other than something important happening to you or Cal or Nathan.
Twenty minutes later, you pull up to the driveway of your dad’s house. Just like your mom’s, your father’s house is decorated with lights, and other types of decorations on the outside. You can only imagine what it looks like on the inside with your dad’s new girlfriend always being extra when it comes to Christmas. More than your mom. Grabbing the rest of your siblings presents and your dad’s gift from the trunk, you follow Cal and Nathan to the front door. Cal knocks on the door and a few seconds later the door opens revealing your dad with red frosting all over his lips.
“Hey,” he begins, voice booming with excitement, “I’m glad you guys made it just in time! We’re putting frosting on the cookies.” Your dad moves to open the door more for you three to enter.
“Put frosting on the cookies or eat the frosting?” Nathan asks, placing a finger on his chin where a small dab of frosting stuck and wiped it on his apron.
Your father laughs, “You know me, I can’t help myself when it comes to frosting.”
The day goes on as you spend a few hours at your dad’s place. You talk about what you’ve done since you last saw one another, Nathan being a future father, and how long the lines were for the recent Christmas movie that came out in theaters. You opened the presents and ate the cookies they made—they were actually good. Everything was peaceful, and for the first time, you spent Christmas without one of your parents saying something bad about the other.
That is until your dad made a joke about your mom and you decided it was time to leave. You say your goodbyes once again, and left the house. You’ll wait for your father’s apology text; you’ll tell him to stop acting like a child and grow up about the divorce, and that’ll be the end of that. Your mom may hear about it, and you’ll have to tell her the same thing.
It’s your endless circle of bull.
You show up to Rory and Mina’s place earlier than usual. When you knock on the door, a surprised Mina opens it, but it immediately disappears when you shake your head at her. You enter the small, comforting house as Rory walks up to you and hands you a glass of eggnog. You drank it like you’re dehydrated. You just want today to be over already.
“We were just about to decorate the tree if you want to help,” Mina says, holding up some ornaments.
“You’re barely doing it on the last day?” you question, placing the glass on the coffee table before following her to the tree that was also in the corner of the living room.
“This is our friend tree,” Mina starts, tone defensive, “we already have our actual tree up in the den.”
“An actual tree?” You grab an ornament from her hand and hang it on the “friend” tree.
“We have one for the family, and we have one for our friends. All ornaments for this tree has pictures and stupid things from you guys,” Rory explains, lifting an ornament picture of Ben. Taking a closer look you see that it’s a picture of him in the middle of taking a bite out of his burger. HIs mouth opened and his eyes looked wild and hungry as he ate. You can’t help but laugh. “Remember his face when we first put it up on the tree? He was pissed.” Rory laughs along with you.
You remember that memory. Ben lectured you guys for a while. As you continue to decorate the tree, you can’t help but remember your first time putting up a tree together with just Jungkook. It was your first Christmas as a couple and he wanted to help you decorate your tree at your apartment.
“I say we don’t put lights on your tree,” he grunts, struggling to untangle the Christmas lights.
You grin as you watch him before pulling out another box of decorations. “You almost got it,” you encourage, clearly finding this amusing.
“If you keep smiling like that I’ll just leave you here to do this yourself,” Jungkook warns, glancing at you with a small hint of playfulness.
“Okay. Sorry, sorry.” You go over and sit across from him on the floor. Grabbing the other set of lights, you untangle the knot with him. “Thanks for helping me by the way.” You glance at him, watching a small smile grow at his lips.
“Christmas is my favorite holiday. The decorations, the present wrapping, opening the presents, and a bunch more,” he explains, a look of victory on his face when the lights untangle. “Why aren’t you as excited as I am?”
You give Jungkook an awkward smile. You never told him about your parent’s divorce, but you suppose now would be a good time as ever. “Uh…” you trail off, handing your still tangled lights to him. “My parents divorced, and now they’ve ruined all of this by talking bad about one another and always trying to keep you from doing something with the other parent. They just ruined the whole… family thing Christmas is about.”
Jungkook is suddenly to his feet, the lights untangled once again. He looks down at you with determination. Holding his hand out for you, he announces, “Well today I’m going to make you love the whole process of Christmas all over again.”
“What?” you chuckle nervously, slowly reaching for his hand.
He grabs it, startling you as he pulls you to your feet. You don’t have great balance with the force he causes when pulling you as you fall into him. He wraps his arms around you as you look to meet his eyes. He smiles his toothy smile, placing a small kiss on your nose. “Let’s decorate the hell out of that tree.”
You can feel the heat rise in your cheeks. You should be used to this by now, but every time he does something cute, you’d only act like it was the first time he’s ever done it. “Okay,” you mumble, feeling him release you from his grasp, but you’re only disappointed it ended so soon.
Walking to the tree, you watch Jungkook as he gets on the step stool and starts at the top of the tree to wrap the lights around. You stand on the other side, grabbing the lights to bring it around the tree and back into his hands. Finishing the first lights, Jungkook gets down and grabs the second set of lights, but not before pulling his phone out of his pocket and browsing through it before you hear a familiar song play through the Bluetooth speaker you have sitting next to your television. You smile as he looks at you. Suddenly he starts dancing to the Christmas song playing. Swaying side-to-side, snapping his fingers, he looks like he’s never danced before. You can't hold back your laughter as you watch him dance his way back to the stool to finish wrapping the tree in lights. You bob your head to the song as you help him with the lights, then the garland and finally the ornaments and star.
Everything is ready. Ready for presents to go under and pictures to be taken. You’re going to be one of those people who takes a picture of their tree, but Jungkook thinks of something better and takes your hand in his, bringing you closer to him. He wraps an arm around your waist, the other holding your hand to your chest as he sways side-to-side with you. Placing a hand on his shoulder, you rest your head on his shoulder as well. The two of you danced in silence for a while, even though some songs were upbeat.
“I love you, Y/N,” Jungkook whispers after a few more seconds of silence.
You don’t hesitate, and maybe that’s what shocks you the most as you answer, “I love you, too.”
Everyone is gathered in the living room, talking and laughing about everything. It’s getting hard to have everyone hang out, but you’re grateful to see familiar faces smiling. Some are running late or won’t be showing up at all, and it hurts you just a bit to know that you’re all growing and maturing as time goes on. You won’t be seeing these people as often as you used to or wish to. Eventually they’ll just disappear out of your life and move on with their own. Enjoying everything that comes their way while you struggle to stay afloat with everything happening in your life.
You get up from your seat, telling the few who notice you try and leave that you only need air. That you’ll be back in just a sec. Once outside in the spacious backyard, you take in several deep breaths. There are plenty of times where you wish you had their lives—any of their lives. They get over their parents divorce, or their family is still one. They don’t have to mature so early in life, and they enjoy the little things. They love their job. They’re happy where they’re at, but always willing to strive for more.
Your life only crumbles.
Closing your eyes, you imagine Jungkook walking out the back door to comfort you. He’s always concerned and late at every important event. He lights up your world when you struggle to swim above the roaring waters.
Opening your eyes, Jungkook stands in front of you, your favorite smile plastered on his face. “I see you’ve missed me,” he says, a hint of teasing in his tone. You can only roll your eyes at him. “Do you want to build a snowman?” he suddenly questions. “It seems like you forgot the meaning of Christmas.”
You scoff, “Are you Jack Frost or Santa or something?”
Jungkook shrugs. “I may be.” He walks past you and more to the middle of the lawn, getting on his knees. “So are we doing this or what?”
You sigh, clearly giving in to him like you always do as you walk up to him and get to your knees. You gather as much snow to the middle, creating a bigger pile and forming it into a ball. When the two of you decide it’s just big enough, you start to form a smaller ball for the middle section.
“Tough day?” he asks, eyes focused on forming the ball.
“More like year,” you confess.
“Look,” he begins, slowly picking up the ball and placing it on the bigger one, only for it to somewhat break apart, “fuck—life has been rough for you. For the years I’ve known you, you are always the one to take everything in. No matter how hard and tiring it is, you have to just make time for yourself only. Don’t let your parents get to you; tell them off once in a while. They’re adults, too, and they have to know that putting the kid in the middle of their ridiculous fight is getting them nowhere. Also you need to have fun, too. You’re in your twenties and acting like you’re forty-something is not the answer. I don’t like telling people I’m dating a grandma.”
You stare at him in shock. “Grandmother? That’s—how—” You have no idea what to say to that. So, instead of saying anything, you grab a handful of snow and shove it in his face. “Shall I tell people I’m with a kid then? I don’t think they’ll like that.”
With his eyes closed, he is frozen from the impact. He wipes at his eyes, clearly in shock as he stares at you. “I see this is how we’re starting our night.” You don’t have time to react as a handful of snow was shoved in your face.
It’s an all out war with him as the two of you go to opposite ends of the yard and hide behind trees as you throw snowballs at one another. Clearly you’re both bad seeing as for the following ten minutes, you both hit each other once during the entire fight. Jungkook catches you off guard when he suddenly lies on the floor, stretching his arms and legs out and begins to sweep them in a semicircle. You drop the snowball and walk over and lie next to him, creating your own snow angel.
From the corner of your eye, you see him get up and look down at his masterpiece. He looks pleased before looking over to you. He gives you a sad smile. “I know life is hard, and I know me not being here is harder, but know that even though I’m not here, I’ll always be with you. I love you so much, Y/N, and you’re going to do amazing things in life. But you need to be a kid once in a while. How else am I to appear?” He chuckles. “Bring me an Christmas tree ornament yeah?”
You wipe at your tears. “Yeah.”
That’s how you spend your Christmas with Jungkook at the secret Santa party, and that’s what he’d say if he was still here. But he’s not here.
“Y/N?” You open your eyes to see Rory, Mina and Ben standing around you. “Everyone left and the cemetery should still be open. Ready to see Jungkook?” Ben asks, holding his hand out to you.
You let out a shaky breath and reply, “Yeah.”

Shouto.....Shouto making so many FRIENDS has me WEAK, you guys. I'm telling you, I have been sobbing about this for MONTHS because I love platonic relationships and friendships and they're so GOOD and I want for my son to have ALL OF THE FRIENDS, DAMN IT. LISTEN TO ME.
Shouto, Momo, abd Tenya knowing each other since they were kids???? So good. The rich kids club is wholesome not because they're rich, but because they love and support each other.
Shouto and Momo being like siblings???? Oh my God I'm in TEARS. Both of them looking out for each other and knowing each other's cues. They can talk in a certain manner to each other because they care. Like Shouto making Momo eat if she skips a meal and he gives her half his food like "you are NOT going hungry" and shes like "you're such a mother hen".
Shouto and Tenya being those pals that are just. Really in tune with each other???? Like!!!! They don't have to tell each other something like "I got your back", they just DO.
Shouto and Izuku!!!! Oh my GOD these two could kill a man and get away with it, but they don't do it because they're good kids, Brendt. These two are in tune, too!!!! Like they GET IT. Izuku gives Shouto one look and Shouto knows what he has to do. Or Shouto starts walking somewhere and Izuku doesn't even have to ask, he just follows because they come in a package.
Shouto and Ochako!!!!!! My sweet winter children!!!! They're so chaotic!!! If you think Shouto and Izuku and Tenya are chaotic, you have not met Ochako!!!! The pranks these two can pull!!!!! They WILL miss with you and your stuff!!! Make your stuff float while it's frozen solid oof rip your favorite lamp or whatever. Also she gets him into Disney and Studio Ghibi movies!!!! Ponyo is their movie!!!!
Shouto and Kyoka oh my God. Shouto giving her feedback on her music and telling her she could maybe mess with different genres. I love the headcanon of him knowing how to play the bass and sings like an angel, so I can see them bonding for their love of music and also writing music and lyrics together. Wholesome. So very wholesome.
Shouto and Denki. Meme Lords Extraordinaires. Denki is responsible for educating Shouto on memes and you better believe he's a good student. He's a little confused but he got the spirit and then he finally gets it! And Denki is so proud of himself ohmg. Aizawa gets extra gray hairs when he sees these two together. No brain cells found and that's the point.
Shouto and Eijirou please oh my God please. Training with ice, Shouto making it and throwing it at Eijirou while Eijirou uses his hardening to break the ice. Them being cool work out buddies (with others like Mido and Iida) and like being spotters for each other or whatever theyre called, idk I dont lift weights. MANLY.
Shouto and Yuga ahhhh pretty boys UNITE. Please oh my God Yuga has been wanting to dress Shouto up because he's just. Really pretty. And Yuga is like I must advise him. He can look fabulous. And he does. Everyone dies because Shouto comes out with shiny fashion clothes and it's Shoujo Shouto all over again rip in pieces.
Sho u to and Mina!!! Mona teaching him how to dance hello???? Or he already knows how to slow dance and she teaches him new things ahhh get on this with me!!! Imagine!!!! The possibilities!!!
Shouto and Tooru!!!! It would be so cool if they could work on quiet operations together. He is a quiet guy in demeanor, but his quirk is loud, so it would be cool if he could work with Tooru to be sneaky. In turn, Tooru is a quiet girl with her quirk but she can be a loud person. So Shouto teaches her how to keep quiet. STEALTH FRIENDS.
Shouto and Rikitou!!!! He teaches Shouto how to bake!!! One day Shouto comes in to the kitchen and brownies are ready and there's Rikitou cutting them in squares and Shouto is like *star eyes* and asks if he can teach him. And when Shouto learns, he makes Rikitou and the rest of his friends cakes and brownies and pastries alskdjslafk. Making food for friends is the way I show my love and I think Shouto would do the same thing.
Shouto and Mezou!!!! Quiet guys!!! But cool guys!!! I think it would be adorable if Mezou would give his friends piggy back rides like how he carried Izuku, and I think Shouto would Crave a Piggy Back Ride, and so. It would happen. Please Mezou carries Shouto if he's super tired like ready to pass out tired and Shouto, to return the favor, can be like his hot/cold compress if he gets any of his appendages hurt. They can also relax together like can these two please meditate together?
Shouto and Fumikage!!! I know Shouto provides light with his fire and Dark Shadow is not a fan of light, but what if he was a fan of warmth, like a cat? And Shouto is very warm. I can see Dark Shadow gravitating towards Shouto and Shouto is real cool about it like yeah get your warmth. And Fumikage is embarrassed at first, but it like helps them to become friends. They trade offence/defence secrets.
Shouto and Tsu!!!! SWIMMING BUDDIES. SWIMMING BUDDIES. SWIMMING BUDDIES. It would also be cool if they trained together to help Tsu with the cold and it could be a way for Shouto to train his temperature regulation, too. Getting too cold for Tsu and shes about to hibernate? Turn up the heat from your left side. And Tsu would be a happy frog.
Shouto and Ojirou!!! (Idk how to spell his first name!!!) Their first mock battle experience is behind them. They are sparring buddies. Shouto is lacking in close range and Ojirou is lacking in long range fighting so they team up to spar and work on that. Shouto can spar with others, too, like Ochako and Izuku, But Ojirou has a lot of experience in martial arts and Shouto has a lot of experience in long range fighting. They get stronger together.
Shouto and Koji!!!! More quiet guys!!!! And very sweet guys!!! Shouto tends to draw the attention of cats because he is Warm^TM, and Koji tends to attract cats by talking to them. So they have a very good time while going outside and cats just. Come to them. Its so good okay. They love cats. They have snuck in a cat together before and Aizawa hasn't found out, mainly because Koji has been talking to the cat to stay quiet and Shouto is attentive to feed it and let it outside.
Shouto and Hanta!!! THE SPORTS FESTIVAL IS BEHIND THEM. I can see them training, playing video games, sending memes, causing absolute chaos in the group chat, you name it. Mischief like the kind Denki would be proud of. They have... That suspicious air that theyre up to something and their friends are like "should I watch out for something?" At this point, everyone is suspicious of them but they havent pulled any shit lately to keep people on their toes. Next thing the kids know, the whole common area has been rearranged. Not in a new position. Just a little to the left, enough to make people slightly uncomfortable. Its hilarious.
Shouto and Katsuki ahhh ive been thinking about them for an au and for my fic. What I like is that they have synergy (thanks Two Heroes) and they exploit this synergy. And I find the dynamic of frenemies to be absolutely hilarious. So they're those friends who are like "yeah, he's a stupid bitch", but if ANYONE ELSE insults them, They're like "THATS MY STUPID BITCH, GET YOUR OWN."
Shouto and Hitoshi!!!!! Sleep deprived but will still cut a bitch, individually or together, doesn't matter. But when they team up, run. They are the kings of snark and puns and Aizawa has had enough and its only been two days. Hitoshi ALSO loves cats, so Shouto attracting them has Hitoshi going "hmmmm perhaps I will keep you around after all", and Shouto is like "wait until Kouda gets here" and oh boy. They all have the time of their lives with the cats. Also, good quirk training for them both. Shouto can banter, but he will not speak or answer any of Hitoshi's questions so he doesnt brain wash him. And Hitoshi will capture Shouto with his capture weapon and leave Shouto literally hanging and feeling like it's his final exam all over again goddamnit war flashbacks.
BONUS: Shouto and Mei!!!!! Besides Tenya and Izuku, Shouto is Mei's favorite guinea pig!!! She goes absolutely nuts with his support items and she comes up with new things for him all the time. He is the perfect little person to test out all her fire proof babies and water proof babies and OoOh her ICE proof babies!!! ARE YOU INTERESTED IN A CAPE?? ITS FIRE AND ICR PROOF. IT CANCELS OUT AIR RESISTANCE. And at first hes like ahhh too loud, but then he gets used to her and hes like give me everything you got throw it at me. She has code names for her customers and she calls him Iced Venti Chai Latte. VERY GOOD.
I JUST WANT HIM TO BE FRIENDS WITH EVERYONE. STAN SHOUTO TODOROKI.

SPIRIT ANIMAL AU (Part 11 : The fluff, The Crack and the extra)
Previously-
Deku's Spirit Animal is a Fennec Fox, whose voice can only be heard by Katsuki (because, reasons), while Deku himself appears to be in a coma.
Extending on the imformation on Spirit Animals from my prev post

("Kacchan! Love me!")
me from the back, sniffing into a hanky: JUST LOVE HIM ALREADY!
The Extra:
While the class was out together, running errands, Izuku and Katsuki get involved in an incident where a child, 4 years old(Person A) develops their quirk smack in the middle of a crowd and it is making people faint. Neither of the m remember the incident but bystanders say that Izuku tried to save Katsuki.
Person A then falls into Quirk Pyrexia (like Eri's fever) and then into a coma. But the effects of the quirk stay. The people who fainted woke up and found a Spirit Animal attached to them
But Deku is in a coma too, and there is this green-haired Fennec-Fox scampering about instead.
Person B, older sibling of Person A who has a similar (but not exactly the same) quirk explains how their own quirk works. And mentions that a lot of people had been affected at once by person A's quirk. So there are a lot of spirit animals going around now in Mustafu.
Class A gets pretty hyped and wants their own spirit animals. They all ask Person B for one of their own. Being mobbed by the eagre class, Person B agrees.
Everyone gets one. Except Katsuki who doesn't want anything to do with the critters; Shouto who couldn't be bothered to get one and Mineta whose Spirit Animal turns out to be a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach and Person B refuses to let that abomination exist. (gtfo mineta)
Gradually the class starts to learn more about Spirit Animals in general and themselves with the help of their Spirit Animals (since they are a reflection of their emotional psyche)
E.g.- Spirit animals' voice can be heard by only the person (the Master) who provides them with some of their own life-force. Normally the amount depends on the size of the animal, but since most are small it is as easy as breathing - life span is not reduced because of it in anyway.
Spirit Animals are born from some basic things like- a person's strongest and most definitive memories, their emotional psyche, their quirk (not necessary though) and their Master's life energy. Basically an SA is the soul of the person in animal form - but they only have a subset of the memories of their human counterpart.
Normally a person from whom an SA is born is also the Master. In Katsuki and Izuku's case there are a lot of problems because Izuku interfered in the process. Now Izuku is in a coma while Katsuki is stuck with the mutterings of a fox inside his head.
the further the SA is from the Master- the more energy it consumes from both. it's a balancing act. The SA might get sick from being too far for too long, but the effect of distance on Masters is however, negligible.
Another way an SA gets sick is when the Bond is one-sided, where the Master (knowingly or unknowingly) refuses to provide for their SA.
In both cases the SA might 'die'
Any sickness or injury of the SA, if treated in due time, can be healed just by prolonged skin contact with their Master.
Ways SA can die- When the quirk fades, when they get very sick, when another SA kills it
In the last method - the Master enters a coma when their SA dies. Because murder is an unnatural warp in the fabric of humanity and psyche- so it impacts the Master too. No one knows if such a coma is treatable or not.
SA can talk to each other, but not other Masters.
SA have special abilities unlike quirks. They are small spiritual-ly abilities, like: Fortune telling, star-reading, dream-walking, mood-reading, etc. Almost every SA has an ability. The occurrence are same as quirked:quirkless ratios.
The PREFACE:
Katsuki avoids F!Deku after he finds out that Katsuki can hear him. But Deku tries to be persistent. Katsuki, naturally gets mad and tells Deku to get lost because he is 'irritating, too loud, too jumpy and disgusting'
This breaks F!Deku's heart, because he doesnt have the memory of Katsuki literally hating him in middle school. Depressed, he starts to keep away, talk less, run less, appear fewer times in front of Katsuki.
At first Katsuki finds peace in the silence, but it starts to worry him. Soon he figures out that Deku is getting sick because of him, as other SA inform through their Masters.
THE FLUFF and CRACK!
after that Katsuki (apparently) grudgingly takes care of Deku. He needs good food? Fine! A bath? Fine! Warmth?! FINE! SKIN CONTACT? FINNEEEE! he is gonna take care of it so damn good that everyone else drops dead at his SA-grooming skills!! (goddamnit, Katsuki,you fucking idiot...)
Cue the most ridiculous phase the Heights Alliance has ever seen-
Katsuki bringing Deku to school in his bag. During classes, Deku naps on the table or in the desk- with his tail curled around Katsuki's left wrist or being left whisking over his hand.
Katsuki in Practical Classes: With Deku wrapped around his neck, inside the neck brace. Winter costume? Inside his turtle-neck. (Imagine Deku's fox head popping out of that collar on being called. oh my heart...that visual...)
Also the visual- Deku nuzzling the underside of Katsuki's jaw if he gets mad, to distract him. Cause that lil fucker actually (begrudgingly) likes the soft fur
Katsuki cooking? Deku's waiting on his shoulder patiently and taste-tests Katsuki's cooking when he gives him a gravy-dipped finger
Katsuki eventually agrees to use Deku's plans during Mock Battles and they make a sick team. Other students say it's unfair to have an extra member on Bakugou. But Katsuki's sly ass reasons that he keeps Deku just because he'll get sick again. (And it's true, cause Deku can still mutter plans in his head from a distance)
Katsuki hosing down Deku's fur like that shit's contaminated. And Deku regretting every second of his canid existence.
Katsuki complaining about Deku's long-ass nails cause they scratch the bejesus out of him. Deku tells him that his Kacchan can clip off those nails if he wants, but Katsuki doesn't reply, instead gives Deku a sour look. Next day he pawns off those Soft Nail Caps from Aizawa (or Shinsou. Maybe Black and orange ones or green ones?)
Sleeping - Deku normally curls up in a ball and sleeps on Katsuki's tummy. But since Katsuki is a turbulent sleeper (more about this later) this gets difficult. So instead he sleeps while nuzzling the curve of Katsuki's neck or makes a nest in his spiky hair.

("G'nite, Kacchan")
The girls of class A open a social media account with all the SA and Deku, the cutest fox in the world, as their focus. Katsuki has to pry off the fox from their hands too often to be comfortable about it.
Katsuki's morning rituals? Deku's riding on his head while he goes down to the communal bathrooms. Eijirou swallows toothpaste and Denki shits himself when they see him like that.
Deku needs to sun-bathe in the chilly weather. So, Katsuki takes him out of cafeteria in lunch time, his friends join too.
Deku gets really popular with Gen Ed and Class B as days go by and when the others try to cuddle him or coo at him, Katsuki twitches with irritation.
Monoma tries to harass Katsuki one day in the cafeteria, so Deku and the other SA literally wage an SA war on him. All the SA of Class A are nibbling and stealing Monoma's food, leaving a mess over his things and making life hell for him. Denki, Hanta, Mina and Eijirou sign up too. Katsuki, unwittingly, earns the title of 'The Savage Snowhite' from Class B due to their efforts.
Once, while lying on his tummy, Deku figures out that Katsuki is really ticklish there and tickles him incessantly till Katsuki is laughing. When Deku suddenly stops tickling and just sits back doing nothing, Katsuki asks suspciously why he stopped, what's he planning. Deku just says that he doesn't remember ever seeing Kacchan laugh, so he wants to remember this properly. cue feels.
Somewhere down the line Katsuki starts to FINALLY fucking acknowledge that he likes to be around the nerd fox, maybe even loves the Deku trapped inside this form. But the real Deku lies asleep in the infirmary. And oh, the Angst ensues as he starts wondering if this is permanent.
Meanwhile SA are being murdered, people are falling into coma, and something has infilrated the UA campus. One of the Class A student's SA was killed very recently. Because the SA was born from Person B's quirk and not Person A, they recover soon after and inform the teachers that they saw an SA Arctic Wolf attack them.
Cue Villain music- dun dun dun!
Here is PART 1 if you are interested in some Fennec Fox Facts!
(Next up! PART 3: THE ANGST, THE DRAMA! -please look forward it!)

sibling problems.
‘what’s your problem?’ “don’t have one.”
au in which hyuck @consilian makes more sense than minjae (as usual)
it starts with the yule ball. or rather the rumors that come with the yule ball. there are - quite a few speculations about who minjae is taking because naturally he’s the talk of the school. not just people in his house or his year but people who frankly have no business ( granted minjae’s personality makes everything their business ) pry into his life. everyone wants to know who he’ll ask, who’s bold enough to ask him and which house they’ll be from.
naturally, it’s not minjae’s fault he’s attracted this level of attention - it was inevitable. really and truly because he’s met someone who brings out the true slytherin in him ( or so he says ). it’s these pack of hooligans that he calls his friends, who have also become the talk of the rumors. because with minjae’s popular he carries that of others and attracts those of the same flock.
junsu with whom he’s had enough classes and overheard phone calls to know they share too much in common. junsu being the more complacent of the two though - because his parents have already told him who he’s taking to the ball. wild.
myungsoo who minjae is quite tired of saving his ass on the field but there’s probably no one else he’d trust to cover his own. truthfully minjae didn’t think he’d warm up to the idea of playing quidditch, it wasn’t quite as expected from him - but it made sense. he’s got a good deal of questions simply from being on the team - though minjae gives him the benefit of the doubt he’s good-looking too.
jaejin - who’s too damn shy to ask the cute girl from gryffindor, and minjae’s prepared to fix that. jaejin who more often than not has his head between minjae’s forearm and his armpit ( most of the time for commenting how beautiful he thinks mina is - whereas hyuck just shrugs and states that everyone know ahyeon’s beautiful - which - gag. )
the boy’s whipped. minjae was waiting for when he’d ask the girl out - he was tired of the push and pull that’s easy to see from the courtyard. hell - hyuck’s tomato face can be seen from the third floor.
either way - the yule ball is easily taking up the time of everyone’s house.
and minjae’s thought nothing of it.
‘what about that girl who sits two tables across? red-head?’ “red-head?” ‘i heard the ravenclaw prefect has an elaborate reason as to why you’ll ask her.’ “does she?” ‘what about ahyeon’s cute friend?’ “they’re all cute.” ‘jangmi?’ “bored.”
he’s really thought nothing of it. mainly because - he’s got other things to do. which is why myungsoo throwing the questions at him gets no response. minjae’s hands are fastened around the binoculars and he’s counting to himself. listening - but counting. they’re ditching quidditch practice but - it’s cold so who really cares.
because, 3, 2, 1.....
‘kwon mina?’ minjae turns around, myungsoo too to meet the first victim. a male who is only about a hair taller than minjae, a ravenclaw named donghyun. and according to their cute prefect, someone who planned rather meticulously to be at this exact spot. this exact spot - where mina should be getting out of her dark arts history class. but she’s not, because well that class ended four hours ago and well in the current situation -
‘kwon mina right?’ donghyun is looking dead at myungsoo who is looking far too confused. ‘minjae?’ he’s now using that tone like the one where minjae made him the scapegoat in their last play. “he’s talking to you not me noona.” if myungsoo were inclined - he’d throw minjae off this balcony, but he’s currently occupied with the fifth year trying to get his attention. ‘i’ve been waiting for you to get out of class see - i’m a sixth year, my name is kim donghyun. we’ve had class together a few times, since you’ve been taking higher level classes. completely commendable i must say -’
the guy goes on for some time. stuttering over his words and talking rather embarassingly for someone of the house he’s supposedly from. minjae tunes it out in favor of watching myungsoo’s dumbfounded and equally annoyed face as he figures out what to do. the only mercy minjae gave was making sure no one would be on the halls while this went down. he’d record if he weren’t too busy checking the premise.
‘i - i’m sorry donghyun-ssi. but i really don’t know you that well to just go out with you to the ball on the fly. i appreciate you asking - this is really sudden though.’ ‘i understand! i could give you time to think it over?’ “time to go.”
minjae’s only cured the spell for a few more minutes so he’s tugging myungsoo along.
‘i’m going to kill you.’ “look who’s living up to his parent’s wishes now.”
myungsoo damn near tackles him when they enter the game room. they miss junsu who is studying by the fireplace by a few inches. he’s muttering a ‘not again’ while hyuck promptly lifts his feet as the two wrestle on the floor. minjae having to counter each spell myungsoo tries to use to make him faster, or to tie his feet in the carpet strings.
‘what now?’ it’s hyuck who’s asking when minjae jumps over the couch and has to hide from the book thrown their way. myungsoo, who isn’t as peeved anymore, takes a seat at the edge of the couch and proceeds to tell the story. minjae who is occupied only with a note that materializes inside the very book that’d been throw.
‘why are people telling me i rejected a sixth year?’ ‘no idea.’
the next mess happens in the mess hall.
all of them pouring over books, minjae sticking every confession note handed to him underneath the book he and hyuck are sharing. jaejin pointing at each concept and trying to explain it the best they can. myungsoo stuffing his face because someone on the team made a comment about his size and junsu well - junsu just studying as usual.
minjae thinks if they go over herbology one more time he’s going to scream.
‘hyuck pay attention.’ “he’s watching ahyeon.” ‘oh and you’re paying attention?’ ‘wait - is that no denial i hear?’
a food fight might have started ( and in hindsight that might’ve been a better option but alas - ) - if minjae’s cue didn’t have him jumping up. up and right into the pathway of a gryffindor. a fifth year, much taller - considerably more built than minjae at that. surrounded by two groupies who are about minjae’s stature. he could take them no problem.
“taemin hyung! just the person i wanted to see!”
taemin park is not happy in the slightest to see minjae. which duh - minjae smoked him on the field the other day, and it was nothing but a scrimmage. taemin park, a fifth year with plans on joining the nation team, if they’re desperate. all that brawn and recklessness and if he’d take the time to think for a second he might stand a chance. if minjae caught a cold that is.
‘i’m busy kwon.’ “are you?” minjae is smug, too knowing for his own good. junsu is shaking his head, myungsoo is leaning back to watch and hyuck’s got one ear open while jaejin’s all eyes. them and probably the rest of their table. because why oh why is minjae approaching the co-captain of the gryffindor quidditch team? why indeed?
taemin leans forward, and maneuvers minjae until they’re facing the same direction.
‘i’m on my way to ask gorgeous to the ball.’ surprisingly, mina is sitting at the end of the table, she rarely eats in the mess hall but minjae knows taemin probably asked to eat lunch. his sister is a lot of things but she isn’t rude. if she had free time she would, and seeing as how hanbyul isn’t with her - he decides she didn’t have anything better to do. while minjae is wondering why she wouldn’t just offer to sit with him he knows why. instead he lets himself relax, he’ll pester her about why she isn’t wearing her scarf later because he’s laughing so hard he’s lifting taemin’s hand that soon lifts from his shoulder.
‘something funny?’ “never thought chae was your type. she’s a third-year, kinda weird. talks to the paintings by the staircase” ‘what? no not her.’ “jieun? she talks to the trees!” ‘no!’ taemin is a fool because his voice carries traction when he’s frustrated. “hyung. seoyoung is a first-year!” ‘i’m asking your sister muggle-brain!’
minjae can handle being called an idiot. he can handle a lot of the assumptions that come with the part of the school jock, playboy, troublemaker. regardless of the good marks he gets in all his classes, regardless of the hearts that break despite him already telling the girls he’s not interested in dating. he can take that. what he can’t take, is all these wishy-washy sorry-excuses thinking they can just waltz over and sweep his sister off her feet like she’s easy. like they’re worth it. he steels himself, the easy smile slipping from his features.
“i’m sure she wouldn’t say yes to anyone who calls her precious brother an idiot.” ‘i’m sure that’s none of your business.’ “i’m sure you’ll be happy to know i already spoke to my sister and she’s not interested.” ‘and i say that your sister can speak for herself.’ “she’s not interested.” ‘move out the way, kwon.’
at this point, myungsoo’s started stretching and junsu’s already standing beside minjae, jaejin with his fingers ready and hyuck, well hyuck always ready. not that this would turn into a brawl, but well - hyuck’s got his back regardless. taemin has stepped closer, close enough to not cause suspicion but make his point known. minaje doesn’t flinch, holds his ground and keeps his face stoic.
‘move kwon.’ “you wouldn’t dare move me when my sister’s right there.” ‘you know a wrong move can suspend you from the team.’ “and even suspended you still couldn’t beat us.” minjae can hear the snickers, can tell that this is making quite the commotion. can tell that he should probably call it quits by now but he’s nothing but amused. amused by how taemin’s ears have turned red because if nothing he’s about his pride and minjae knwos exactly where to push. donghyun is too smart for a diversion so minjae had to get crafty with spell-casting, but taemin, all minjae needs to do is get a few words in. and a few more should do the trick. ‘this isn’t about the team, so butt out.’ “it’s about my sister. and i said, she’s not interested.” ‘and i said, move.’
does minjae move? no. does taemin try to move him, he gets a hand on his shirt but that’s about it since - well.
‘what’s going on, minjae can’t you just eat in peace?’ if people turn to stone before snape, mina’s presence is definitely to be reckoned with. minjae is if anything smiling at the fact that she’s wearing a warmer cardigan, because if she got sick she wouldn’t be able to sleep well and he knows she has an important exam in two days. she’s stepped up to them, eyes ignoring the hand on minjae’s shirt and instead just flitting back and forth. his sister’s not tall but she draws all eyes wherever she goes. similar to the other fifth year, seoyun’s her name. mina doesn’t look amused, but she doesn’t look irritated either.
“just some friendly banter about the upcoming game, right?”
for all his bravery minjae can see the gears in taemin’s head. can see how he’s all but frightened at the prospect of mina reading this wrong, about exactly how this looks staged. minjae knows his sister would never base jdugement off an image such as this - especially knowing her brother’s reputation, but taemin doesn’t. and with this image, he wouldn’t dare approach her about the ball.
“you’ll be there right?” mina’s eyes turn to him, briefly after landing on the two standing by hyuck and jaejin whose tucked his head back in the book. ‘of course, taemin-ssi we’ll have to talk later i have to go meet a friend.’
ignoring that hyuck whispers that it’s probably hanbyul, mina is off with a quick ruffle to minjae’s hair and minjae is off after claiming the mood is ruined. because well - it’s ruined. and minjae has better things to do, like see if he can fit any entire pillowcase of treats in his mouth. it was a dare he’s been meaning to get to.
‘have you considered she might be going with hanbyul?’ hyuck’s comment is exactly what earns him about a dozen treats thrown at his head from across the common room. and the others joining in because well - duh.
minjae has considered that - and decided that it’s not possible. couldn’t be possible. he’s taken his time to study who hanbyul seems to be and for the majority of guys who get his sister’s attention, they don’t take long to crack and make their intentions known. hanbyul has pure intentions and the only issue minjae has with that is the fact that it’s taken up time he could have.
he’ll survive.
'aren’t we supposed to be studying?’ “aren’t you supposed to be figuring out how to ask yeonhee out?”
junsu, though built a little better than myungsoo, isn’t too inclined to try and hurl minjae off the balcony. though, he might if minjae keeps making jokes about the fact that myungsoo’s parents are trying to solidify a bloodline without their son’s consent. in all fairness - yeonhee was pretty cute. a little scary though, she once got mad at minjae and flew so close that her broom gave him a splinter. a splinter.
either way, junsu’s more tame. right now myungsoo doesn’t trust him as much - that and he had to attend practice. they’re waiting behind a ledge, the potions private lab in their sights and minjae counting down yet again.
‘it’s a bad idea’ hyuck had said. “doubt it.” ‘your sister is going to kill you.’ “never.”
minjae had grinned, refused to ask how hyuck was the only one who’d picked up on the little schemes going around. or the dozens of notes now stashed in his locker, that didn’t have his name on it. then again - hyuck is as sharp as him. still, hyuck had said his words and went right back to reading - studying in fact. he should get to that really. but now. right now.
the explosion is enough to have the ground rumbling and green smoke erupting from the now open doors of the classroom. he’s not sure who to pay attention to, the figure stomping out covered in green powders or how his sister looks almost bored and pristine stepping out with hanbyul. who’s just as clean - but you can’t win them all.
‘i apologize!’ there’s jung hyunwoo, running behind her and looking less like the put-together slytherin he claims to be and more like the mess he’s revealed to everyone around the dorm. seeing him apologize - would be the icing on the cake if not for the fact that he looks like a green goblin. ‘i really don’t know what happened - i was merely trying to.’ “it’s fine. you were trying to make the words manifest from the cauldron, it’s just the mixture was wrong.” mina’s tone is soft, not a trace of annoyance in it. she’s too good for them, minjae comments to himself. junsu makes a note of smacking him upside the head and if minjae weren’t busy trying to laugh, he’d notice hanbyul watching them.
‘i’m going to clean up before professor sees it and you get scolded. if you want i can help you with it later?’ of course, hyunwoo’s pride is his everything. it’s why he would never admit to needing help, or to being friends with other houses or even people of different blood. mina’s too nice, entirely too nice and unconcerned about the world around her. strong in a way hyunwo wouldn’t understand. which is why it baffles minjae that he heard hyunwoo boasting about how he’d ask her, how he was so sure she’d say yes.
yet here we are.
‘no that’s fine, i’ll clean!’
before mina can protest, he’s rushing back in and sealing the doors - no doubt to hide his own embarrassment. minjae is in hysterics.
‘y’might want ta loosen up.’
apparently hanbyul was not. he’s got both minjae and junsu’s attention standing in front of them. tall, and looking like he could care less about anything going on, yet for the moment, he doesn’t even look at minjae, he’s still watching mina. tall bastard.
“yeah? says who?” ‘well - d’ya think she’ll find this cute much longer?’ now minjae’s dumbfounded, as if this isn’t something his siblings have told him. his parents. that mina coddles him, that he seeks too much attention from her, all the attention really. that she made up for too much and minjae just eats it up, soaks it up really. it was cute when he was pushing pursuers from their doorsteps as a child, no matter how much bigger they were. cute when he taught his brother’s owl to intercept love notes to the window. cute when he did voice imitations to answer telegrams.
cute.
as always she’ll give him that same smile. a smile he’s sure he won’t be able to receive much longer when she graduates. so minjae frowns at that, and walks past him. because where does hanbyul get off asking him something so personal?
he’s rubbed a little wrong - so when he reaches the common room he just wants to lay down.
‘one of the potions rooms nearly exploded today did you guys hear?’ for once he doesn’t want to hear the tale of his escapades. for once he wants to focus on reading, studies, anything else. jaejin’s running in with the news around the same time junsu catches up to him.
“don’t you have anything better to do? like asking out that huffle girl? better do it before i do.” that gets him a pillow to the face, as if everyone in the room hasn’t been subject to minjae’s antics. as if he has a right to be so sour. especially to jaejin. ‘shouldn’t you be apologizing to your sister for being a thorn in her side. i’ve heard she’s been apologizing to people lately.’ it makes minjae raise his head, but only to narrow his eyes, try to read jaejin’s expression. “you’re lying.” ‘you’re being childish.’ you’re a prude.”
that gets him another pillow, this time from hyuck who’s placed himself right beside minjae, despite the air in the room. junsu who is leaning against the wall watching, myungsoo who has a pastry in his mouth, watching the interaction.
‘what’s your problem?’ where jaejin might only snap, hyuck wouldn’t hold back even if he should. even if minjae’s still bristling a bit, still wired from the words earlier. and from the prospect of his sister having to apologize for him. apologize at all. that wasn’t the plan.
“don’t have one.” is minjae’s still prickly response. so he’s being childish, of course he doesn’t like being called out on it. but hyuck just shrugs and leans back over the arm of the couch. ‘yeah well, your sister shouldn’t have to suffer just because you want her to yourself.’ “yeah well,” minjae pauses, thinks about how easy it would be for this to go south. thinks about how much energy he has for that and how hyuck is right, how he knows he’s right. “i don’t want to talk about it.” hyuck looks up for a moment, minjae can clearly see him considering things, like times that minjae has had him talk when he’s fed up. like the fact that there’s so much more he can say, but he says enough with a shrug. ‘when you do want to talk, at least let it be an apology to the right people.’ “yeah okay philosopher, what’s shifted your moral compass, did you get back from seeing ahyeon?” that gets him a foot instead of a pillow and well - minjae takes that one.
so minjae doesn’t apologize to the jerkwads. because he’s still right that no one deserves his sister. he does send a study elixir to hanbyul’s cave by the botany lab. right now he’s sitting on the stool watching mina work. something he hasn’t been able to do since he’s been busy, sabotaging her suitors.
‘you know, i wasn’t even planning on going this year.’ minjae’s spinning and looking through the experiments written in her old lab book. she swats at his hand when he reaches for something. “you should go.” partially because he’d love to see her happy and dressed up, partially because she deserves to. “it wasn’t to stop you from going. or.....make you have to apologize.” ‘i don’t want people thinking you’re something you’re not. that’s why i apologize, i could care less about how i’m perceived.’
there’s a lot that comes with being a kwon. there’s a lot that comes with the legacy. their mother was a ravenclaw but their father a faithful and textbook slytherin. their family, a mix of the two, minjae sometimes believes things would be different had they donned black and blue their sorting nights. mina, known as the something of a cold queen in her field.
mina, always alone, always studying, unapproachable solely by rumors. minjae, charmingly cunning and with accolades that are reason enough for people to talk about him and to him. one who gets the smiles when he walks around, giggles and whispers and mina, who gets the gasps, the awes as well but - mina’s considerably lonelier than him. it’s why he supposes she deserves better. it’s also why he likes time like this - where even if everyone talks against her, he knows how she is. he’s both jealous and glad that someone else, that someone being hanbyul, understands who she is.
“still, didn’t mean much by it.” ‘it’s fine. i just want you to have a good time here. don’t worry about me.’ “so you’re going to go? you have a date.” ‘if i did have one, which i don’t, i don’t think your track record deserves you knowing.’
fair.
minjae rightfully sulks into the seat. he continues spinning though, flips the finger when he sees the guys peeking into the window.
“i’m not going then.” ‘please, i was going to take you suit shopping.’ “oh?” ‘with hanbyul.’ “ugh.”
mina’s smiling now, even as she hasn’t lifted her concentration. she looks best like that, few people get to claim seeing her like that. minjae isn’t inclined to share.
‘think about it. i heard a lot of people are hoping you’ll ask them.’ “meh. jaejin only talks so much around you because he thinks you’re pretty.” ‘you should use your gifts to maybe help your friends instead of scheming.’
that gets a shrug. in that way he and hyuck are probably too similar. it has minjae smiling though.
‘though, if you pull a stunt like the potion one again - especially with hanbyul in there - you’ll be scrubbing yourself and the halls for the rest of your hogwarts residence.’ minjae gulps. “yes ma’am.” he pauses, does a full turn before eyeing. “sure you’re not dating hanbyul? maybe kae, he’s your lab partner right?” ‘bye minjae.’ she doesn’t even give him the courtesy of walking out, she’s using a particularly strong bag of wind to have him escorted out right as kae’s on his way in. kae, who’s far too tall, too broad and too intimidating for minjae to even dare. “i’m watching you hyung.” it’s not as pointed as minjae would hope and his friends are rightfully laughing from around the corner as he approaches. “assholes.”
‘glad that’s over.’ is all myungsoo says. hyuck is still laughing, him and jaejin doubled over one another and minjae finds himself smiling, pulling jaejin under his arm. “alright, let’s get you this date huh?” there’s whoops, cheers and jaejin stumbling over words as they make their way to their usual spot. if minjae thanks hyuck it’s in the form of a grin over his shoulder and a shove against the shoulder.
hyuck gets it though, they always get each other.

The Kiss of Death: Chapter 1
~~~I~~~
It was a beautiful morning in the kingdom of Ukaidia, as the sun cast her rays over the brilliant, rolling fields and meadows.
Walking one of the still quiet, cobblestone streets was a young maiden only seventeen years of age with a small smile on her face.
The breeze felt nice on her smooth, golden-brown skin as her brown irises swept across the silent streets, light catching on the gold flecks within her orbs.
Her long, raven colored locks were held back in one braid which ended at the bottom of the female’s back.
The teenager wore a simple white blouse tucked into black leggings with a purple sash wrapped around her waist as a pair of brown, lace up boots protected her feet from the morning chill.
The girl had a crossbody bag that rested on her left hip as she held a book with the name ‘Rhamina Miyu’ on the spine in her right hand.
More and more people began to fill the streets as the ravenette made it closer to her destination, the castle.
The teen merely smirked with her plump, freshly glossed, lips at the glares she was receiving as she entered the castle gates.
As a pureblood Lemurian the teen had many rumors spread about her, but she honestly could not care less.
She did not exist to please them. In her own mind, she might as well have existed to just frustrate everyone who disliked her… Which is exactly what she did.
Upon entering a familiar courtyard, the female’s eyes fell not upon the two of her teammates that were there, nor the new face standing next to their instructor, but it was on the familiar male sitting on a bench that was shaded by a tree.
“Prince Umi?” she asked, gaining the attention of the slightly taller male with long silver hair tied up into a ponytail, “What are you doing here?”
“I live in the castle, Rhamina, where else would I be?” the male spoke back with sarcasm lacing his tone as he stood to watch the female set her things next to the bench.
“Doing your princely duties one would hope,” the ravenette chuckled as she brushed a few stray hairs behind her ear and out of her face, “No, but really, why are you down here? Don’t you have archery practice or something?”
“I thought it would be more difficult to get all of the painting done with just seven people,” he replied, earning a mischievous grin from the female.
“Awe, thank you,” she gushed before snickering with a certain glint in her eyes that the male did not like.
“Oh how gracious is the magnificent Prince Umi of Ukaidia!” the ravenette mused dramatically, earning a groan from the male.
“Ah, yes how- ow! Hey that’s not fair, you’re still wearing your armor!” coughed Rhamina in response to the male dropping his gloved hand on her back.
“Looking up into his golden/hazel irises, the ravenette smiled sweetly saying, “Really though, thank you, Umi, you really didn’t have to take time out of your day to help us.
His face immediately flushed and he quickly turned away to avoid people seeing; however, it was already too late.
“Oh? Is that Umi blushing?” a familiar voice asked as everyone turned to the entrance of the castle to see the headstrong, red-headed princess of Ukaidia.
“Haru!” barked the male as he turned to his younger sister, earning a cackle from the female as she turned to walk back inside.
“Your sister really is something isn’t she?” chuckled the ravenette as she walked over to a red cart holding a large, waterproof tarp that they would be painting.
“Before he could even reply the woman known as Krystal looked over at the ravenette and said, “Nice, Ramen, it’s a great day to wear white.”
“Oh shoot,” hissed the teen as she looked down at her outfit before shrugging, “I didn’t even realize, oh well. I don’t even wear this shirt much anyways.”
As more of the team members showed up, everyone helped unfold the floor and Rhamina was given a pair of scissors to cut the floor a bit smaller.
With quick precision, the ravenette got down on her knees and began opened the pair of blades before letting them glide through the tarp.
The female was finished with the job in under seven minutes as the others were preparing and mixing the paints.
Taking out a magical tool, the instructor began playing various forms of music to keep everyone entertained and on task.
Making quick work of the area she was supposed to paint, Rhamina then began working on assembling the props which would be used in the show.
“Damn, Mina, you’re really good with your hands,” commented one of her teammates who was painting, “what else can they do?”
“Strangle someone,” the captain spoke without missing a beat as she continued to focus on the props.
“Oh my god, Ramen!” exclaimed the instructor as she had overheard the conversation while the rest of the girls were howling with laughter.
“Don’t want a stupid answer then don’t ask stupid questions,” chuckled the ravenette as she quickly stretched out her back before returning to work.
When the lunch break rolled around, many of the girls sat in the sun on the ground near the tarp; however, two sat with the prince in the shade of the tree.
“This is going pretty well,” chirped the ravenette as she opened her bag and took out a sandwich that was wrapped in a napkin to protect the other contents of the bag, “We only need to finish writing the words and painting the rest of the props.”
The male nodded as he took a bite of his own meal which consisted of some marinated meat and rice as he took notice of the unusually small quantity of the ravenette’s meal.
“Is that all you’re eating?” the male asked with a raised brow, causing the other female with short hair to look up at Rhamina.
“Mina, that sandwich is tiny!” the younger female exclaimed.
“Its fine, I’m not that hungry today,” shrugged the ravenette before taking another bite of her sandwich that was almost gone.
Umi narrowed his eyes at the statement since the entire time he had known the teen she was always hungry and eating quite a bit whenever she could, and for good reason.
She hadn’t told many people other than a few close friends, but she had an extremely weak immune system which relied on every nutrient she could get from eating anything she could get her hands on.
In the case that she didn’t or couldn’t eat enough, the ravenette would become extremely susceptible to disease, so it did not make sense in the young prince’s head as to why she would just start eating in much smaller quantities than she normally would.
Then he remembered that unlike many of the other members of the Royal Band and Colorguard, Rhamina did not live on castle grounds but at the very edge of the capital city where she was more open to discrimination.
“Rhamina, are the people in town cutting you off?” the male asked suddenly as the female’s expression didn’t change.
It was quiet for a few moments before the female shook her head saying, “Of course not,” the smile never leaving her face as she looked up through the tree branches at the blue sky.
However, the few moments of silence was all the recently turned seventeen-year-old needed to get the truth before he huffed, shoving his bowl towards the older female.
“You need to tell me, or my siblings, or just anyone in the castle when things like this happen,” the male scolded with narrowed eyes as the short haired female looked up at her friend and superior.
“Mina, why don’t you just live in the castle with the rest of us?” she asked as the ravenette began taking small bites of the meal offered to her, knowing he would make her anyway.
“It’s not that simple, Chloe,” Rhamina explained as her gaze fell flat, not focusing on anything, “That just gives them a reason to call me a coward, trying to hide behind the castle walls.”
“Even if you don’t live here, you need to ask for help if you’re being deprived of things you need to live,” scoffed Umi as he watched the girl eat.
“I could be saying the same thing to you, Hun,” retorted the female with a light glare before she stretched, laying down at her spot on the ground with eyes closed, “Plus that would be too much of a hassle for everyone.”
“Rhamina, you’re wellbeing is at stake and all you’re saying is that its ‘too much of a hassle’ to get help?” the prince asked, not bothering to hide the blatant irritation seeping into his voice.
“Umi, you’ve known me long enough to know that I choose to suffer in silence rather than reach out when it comes to the people in town,” the teen spoke as she relished in the breeze that blew by, “Plus it’ll only give me more satisfaction when they finally suffer at the hands of fate for all the things they’ve said and done to me.”
“Good things come to those who wait,” she mused slowly opening her eyes as the shorter female hovered over her.
“Mina, that isn’t healthy though!” the brunette tried to reason, only for the older girl to shrug in response.
“If I die, then I die,” she replied nonchalantly, “If it's them who kill me, then they better prepare to get their asses haunted by a vengeful me.”
“You know, I would really appreciate it if you stopped joking about things like this,” the silver-haired prince spoke, his hands clenching into fists as they lay in his lap.
“I’m sorry, Umi,” Rhamina sighed as she sat up before all expression left her face, “But I must let you know that what I say is never a joke. I never joke about death. Everything I say about her is spoken in all seriousness.”
The air around the three became tense before a familiar figure stepped in front of them with a mischievous smirk on her face.
“So, how are things going here?” the red haired princess asked with a specific glint in her eyes that Umi did not like.
“Haru, convince Mina to live in the castle” pleaded Chloe before the ravenette slapped a hand over her mouth.
“Why? Did something happen?” the female asked with a raised brow as the sword at her hip lightly clanged against her armor.
“No, everything’s fine,” the ravenette chirped, acting as if there wasn’t a fifteen-year-old struggling against her vice-like grip, “Nothing happened whatsoever.”
The male beside them scoffed, earning his sibling’s attention before the ravenette shot him a warning glare.
“Are you sure?” Haru asked, emphasizing each word as her eyes wandered to those of her brother who only cracked his left middle finger.
“Yeppers!” chirped the seventeen, almost eighteen-year-old as the princess’ gaze returned to her.
“Alright then,” she spoke turning around, “Whatever you say…”
As the form of the princess disappeared back into the stone walls the group was called back onto the now dry, freshly decorated floor to begin their actual practice.
For the next two hours, the seven girls of the Royal Colorguard rehearsed and cleaned what they had of their new show.
“Alright, I need to get something real quick so behave and Anthony is going to be showing you parts of your flag feature,” Krystal said as she turned to walk back into the castle, letting the man known as Anthony step forward with a white flag.
“Yes, Mom!” chirped Rhamina as she stood closer to the front of her group as she picked up her own flag which, like the other girls, had a golden silk instead of white.
The entire time the male was showing them the new routine, Rhamina was the only one who could somewhat keep up as the male taught them the complicated work unlike anything they had done before.
“Yeah, that’s it now the palm roll,” the male commented as he caught the ravenette practicing the routine on her own off to the side as he was helping another girl.
She was very much under tempo, but she was actually doing it and understanding how the work was supposed to flow together.
“Damn!” a female named Isabelle exclaimed causing Rhamina to pause what she was doing and turn around to face the younger girl, “Oh, sorry. You just look really good.”
“Thanks, Hun,” chuckled Rhamina with a nervous smile before she restarted the routine to try and get it looking better or at least at a slightly faster tempo.
While all of this was happening, Umi sat on the bench with the ravenette’s bag and journal just watching as the female didn’t only practice, but performed with an expression of longing on her face.
‘Practice as you perform,’ was something she always said and as she was the captain of the guard she believed that it was best to lead by example. It was easy for her to encapture the character of a lone doll on a store shelf as she always had a deep sense of longing. For what he didn’t know, but he would try anything to help her find it.
“So when are you planning on telling her?” mused a familiar voice from behind the male causing him to jump in surprise.
“Where do you keep coming from?!” asked the prince as he turned around to face the second youngest in the royal family.
“Seriously, Dear Brother, you need to start going to work before someone else decides to take her from you,” the redhead spoke as she pulled a lollipop from out of a pouch, ignoring her brother’s question.
“What do you mean?” he asked with narrowed eyes, playing dumb as Haru leaned forward and gestured at the female who had just tossed her flag behind her back before turning to catch it facing front.
“Brother, Rhamina is young, beautiful, smart, talented, and to top it all off, she can use magic,” the teenager explained as the male’s gaze followed her hand, “you think she wouldn’t have caught someone’s attention by now? I mean she has yours, doesn’t she?”
The female sighed before she began walking in the direction of the stables.
“I’m just trying to help you, Brother, it’s quite obvious that she might feel the same way about you,” the princess called behind her, “Don’t waste your chance.”
At around two in the afternoon, the girls refolded the floor and placed it back onto the cart before wheeling it off to the storage room where it was housed.
“Rhamina, wait!” the prince called as the ravenette was about to exit through the castle gates.
The girl hummed in acknowledgement before she turned around to face her long time friend of seven years.
“Are you going to the festival in two days?” the seventeen-year-old male asked as the female looked up at him.
“Yep,” she chirped in response, “Its the Mid-Winter festival. It's the only one I even go to.”
“Well if it doesn’t bother you, might I accompany you?” Umi asked as he tried to avoid eye contact with the older female.
“That wouldn’t bother me at all, Umi. I’d love that,” Rhamina replied with a smile, “These kinds of things are best enjoyed with others.”
“Yes, so I’ll just come pick you up when the time comes,” the prince agreed before the ravenette wrapped her arms around his form briefly before walking out of the gates.
“Bye, Umi, I’ll see you then!” she called before disappearing down the road, leaving a stunned prince in her wake.
Throughout the many years he had known the Lemurian, Umi just could not get used to her sudden bursts of affection.
One moment she’s shoving her self proclaimed sisters away because she doesn’t want to be touched, but in the next she’ll be pouncing on any unsuspecting friend of hers within arms reach, demanding affection.
Quickly shaking off his shock, the prince made his way into the castle, finding his way to where those in the Royal Band and Colorguard were housed.
As soon as he reached a door with a bright red dot on the handle he raised his fist to knock, only to be startled by a familiar voice.
“What did you need, my dude?” a seventeen-year-old named Kerstin asked.
“Gods!” exclaimed the second prince as his hand grasped at his chest as he turned around, “Both you and my sister, I swear.”
“Huh?”
“Nothing,” the prince sighed, running his hands through his hair before taking a deep breath and asking, “Do you happen to know the preferred flower of Rhamina?”
“Why do you need to know that?” the darkette asked before a large smile spread across her face.
‘Oh dear lord-’
“Oh my god, are you going to start courting her?!” Kerstin exclaimed as Umi tense, making sure that no one heard her outburst.
“Yes, now do you know or not?”the male snapped with narrowed eyes.
“Of course I do, you goose, her favorite flowers are lilacs,” the darkette chirped patting the taller male’s shoulder.
“Oh and one thing,” she added before he could thank her, grip tightening on the male’s shoulder as a crazed glint appeared in her irises, “hurt her and I will personally com and kill you. I don’t care if you're a prince or whatever, I will make you hurt in anyway you make her.”
“O-of course I won’t,” Umi uttered in surprise and slight fear causing the darkette to loosen her grip on the male and act like nothing had happened before entering her room without another word.
‘Does everyone with Lemurian blood act that way?’ the silver-haired male thought to himself as he walked away from the quarters of the half Lemurian, ‘No, Chloe doesn’t act like that.’
Just as he turned the corner, Umi saw that the female who had eaten lunch with Rhamina and himself was there, just staring at him with narrowed eyes.
“Chloe?” the male asked with a raised brow as he slowly reached for the bow on his back, “Is everything alright?”
“Hoot,” the half Lemurian muttered lowly as her eyes narrowed before she backed away into another hallway, almost running into a wall as she did so.
The two days passed quickly before Umi walked out of the castle gates wearing thick clothing to protect himself from the cold and freshly fallen snow.
As he made his way to the home of the ravenette, Umi began to question how the female could stand making the walk all the way up to the castle and back almost everyday.
The male stopped in front of a small wooden house located quite a ways from the others, right at the edge of the woods.
‘Honestly, this girl is put in so much danger by being this far away from everyone,’ the male thought before knocking on the door.
A few moments later the ravenette opened the door with a large smile as she wore an all black outfit, save for the gray coat she wore that reached her knees and her usual brown, lace-up boots.
“Aren’t you going to get cold wearing just that?” the prince asked, noticing that the teen was wearing a thin pair of black leggings.
“Is that even a question?” the girl retorted as she turned around to lock her door before latching herself to the taller male’s arm causing him to tense.
“So, where to first?” the girl asked, looking up with bright eyes as the male slowly relaxed in her hold.
“Since it’s a little bit past noon, I was planning on grabbing some lunch if you haven’t eaten yet,” the male said as they began to walk back into town where the festival was being held.
“Mhm,” Rhamina hummed, nuzzling into the male’s shoulder to gain the comforting warmth he always seemed to emit, “I’m good with that.
After the two had eaten, a few friends had flagged down the ravenette and roped her into a very long, drawn out conversation. Before leaving.
“Sorry about that, Umi,” the ravenette sighed as she turned around to see the male holding a bag from the bakery that they were standing in front of.
“I accept your apology,” the male scoffed, “Although it wasn’t entirely your fault that you weren’t trying to be rude to them, so here.”
The male shoved the paper bag into the teen’s arms before saying, “You better not be sulking because of this the entire day.”
Opening the bagm a small smile spread across the female’s face before she asked, “How did you know I like these tarts?”
“I remembered you enjoying them at my brother’s birthday celebration a few months ago,” Umi explained as the female took a bite of a vanilla custard tart with blueberries on top of it.
“I’m surprised you do remember that,” Rhamina replied, folding the top of the bag over to save the rest for later, “It was quite some time ago.”
“It's just something I noticed is all,” the male shrugged, looking down to meet the bright smile that graced his companion’s face.
“Thank you, Umi, that’s very sweet of you,” she replied before the male let out a cough while turning his face away.
The two teens spent the rest of the afternoon walking around town, visiting the various stalls that were set up and watching the many shows until the sun set when everyone gathered in the town square.
“It really is nice to be around so many smiling faces every once in a while, huh?” Rhamina asked as a peaceful smile graced her features upon taking in the happy atmosphere of the festival around her, becoming completely engrossed.
That is until she noticed a flash of purple move in front of her and she looked down to see the second prince of Ukaidia down on one knee as he held a stem of lilacs up to her.
Her eyes widened before she began to blink rapidly as she realized what was happening since she watched it happen and sometimes helped it happen for her siblings and children.
“Umi, Hun, what, um, what are you doing?” Rhamina asked as she felt heat crawl up her neck and face.
“My fair lady, Rhamina, will you grant me the honor of allowing me to court you?” the prince asked as he had practiced, looking up to the ravenette with hopeful eyes.
“Umi, are you really sure about this?” the female asked, desperately trying to avoid direct eye contact, “I mean what would your father think of this? I mena, he hates me.”
“Rhamina, I could not care less what anyone says about this, other than you,” the prince spoke causing the female’s eyes to travel back to his own, “I swear on my honor that even if you reject me tonight, that no harm will come to you as long as I still breath.”
The prince closed his eyes as he saw the slight fear in his friend’s eyes, preparing for rejection when he instead felt warmth envelop his form.
“How could I possibly reject you like this, My Prince?” Rhamina asked softly as she pulled back to meet his eyes and rest her hands on his own before taking the lilacs from his grasp.
“Prince Umi of Ukaidia, I wholeheartedly accept your request,” she continued as she stood with a large, closed eye smile, “All I ask in return is that you protect my heart.”
Umi then enveloped the slightly smaller female in his own embrace as she happily nuzzled her face into the prince’s neck.
As the music behind them changed to an upbeat waltz, Umi pulled back and held his hand out to the slightly older female.
“Would you allow me to have this dance?” he asked formally before she smiled back and placed her hand in his.
“Of course but you’ll have to excuse any mistakes I make,” chuckled the ravenette as she was led to the center of the square, “I am not trained for this kind of dance.”
As the two continued to dance, two figures silently watched them from behind the large water fountain in the square.
“Wow, I really did not think he had it in him,” a dark skinned female commented as she took a bite out of a candied apple in her grasp, “but he managed to pull it off. Go you, Tsundere-kun.”
Meanwhile, the short-haired brunette could only watch in anger, seething at how close the two were while dancing.
“Hoot,” she grumbled, feeling very conflicted at the moment.
On one hand, how dare that specimen of the opposite gender lay his hands on her mother; while, on the other hand, the ravenette looked so happy.
Chloe had known that the teen had been longing for romantic companionship to battle her own loneliness from the war between Lemurians and Ukaidians that left her without her family, but the ravenette never believed that she was deserving of it, that she was destined to die alone.
The brunette knew that the prince could finally provide this for her friend, but the idea of the ravenette’s attention being taken by some boy just frustrated her to no end.
“Hey, Chloe, what’s the matter?” the other female asked as she looked down to the seething fifteen-year-old, “He will pay, hoot,” muttered Chloe, “pay, Tijarah.”
“Weren’t you the one saying how cute they would be together?” Tijarah asked with a raised brow.
“I didn’t actually think he’d actually have the balls to start courting her!” huffed Chloe, “Its Umi for crying out loud!”
“So, what are you going to do now?” the older female asked, taking another bite of the sweets in her hand, “Sabotage Umi?”
“No,” chirped the shorter female as she stood up with a determined blaze in her eyes, “But I can be annoying!”
“I don’t really think that’s a good thing,” Tijarah commented as she watched the smaller female cackle, “What would Mina do if she caught you?”
“She won’t find out as long as you don’t say anything, Tijarah,” Chloe mused with a smile.
“Oh no, you aren’t ropping me into this,” the seventeen-year-old spoke as the half-Lemurian inched closer, “If she finds out that I’m even letting you do this, she’ll kill me.”
“Then you better make sure she doesn’t find out!” sung Chloe as Tijarah’s eyes widened in horror.
“Chloe, you’re supposed to be the nice, innocent one!” cired the teen as the orchestra merely played on in the background.
Once the festivities had ended, Umi walked Rhamina back to her home as she was once again latched onto his arm with a smile on her face.
“Good night, Umi,” she said once they reached her front door, embracing him tightly.
“And to you as well, Rhamina,” the prince replied with a soft smile, making sure she was inside before making his way back to the castle.
‘I feel so happy,’ the ravenette thought with a large, love struck grin on her face as she prepared herself to go to sleep, ‘but then why does my heart feel so heavy?’
The next day, the ravenette got up bright and early to prepare her breakfast to start off the beginning of her long day.
In the morning, she had practice for the Ukaidian Royal Band and right after a shorter, but in some cases more tedious, rehearsal for a small jazz ensemble she was a part of.
In the afternoon, she had colorguard practice up until nightfall, so she needed to make sure that she had enough energy to last the entire day.
Soon after she finished her meal, Rhamina dressed in an outfit similar to the one she had worn while painting with her grey coat to go over it as she slung her bag onto her shoulder, filled with her water bottle and journal.
The sun was barely over the horizon when the teen left her house that morning and she smiled to herself upon seeing that the streets were completely empty except for a few stray animals.
She calmly walked towards her destination, humming a song she would sing with a dear friend of hers back when she lived in Lemuria.
As she got closer to the castle, the ravenette’s heart couldn’t help but beat faster when she remembered the events of the previous night.
‘I really have come a long way since I left home,’ she thought as she approached the castle gates, ‘I can only hope that everyone else is doing okay though. Its been a really long time since I’ve been back home.’
The teen’s chest tightened as a familiar pair of golden orbs flashed in her mind and a frown appeared on her face.
‘I never even got to properly say goodbye to them...’
Rhamina was brought back to reality as one of the guards at the gate spat in her direction, almost hitting her freshly cleaned boots.
“And good morning to you as well,” she snapped back, already in a terrible mood and her day had yet to officially start.
Passing through the castle grounds that had almost become a second home to her, the ravenette made her way to the target range where a specific male was already training.
Rhamina watched as he leased another arrow that glowed blue due to the enchanted weapon in his hands.
‘Mjolnir,’ she recalled, making her steps silent as she walked to sit under a nearby tree, taking out her journal and a pen, ‘a weapon that’s said to be thunder incarnate.’
As the male lowered his bow to wipe off the sweat forming on his forehead, the teen set her journal off to the side and began clapping.
Turning to the source of the sound, Umi relaxed upon seeing that ravenette’s smiling form sitting under a tree.
Rhamina picked her journal up and let her pen continue to glide across its cream colored pages as the prince sat next to her a little closer than her normally would.
“What are you writing about now?” he asked, trying to get a glimpse of the female’s writing only for her to angle the hardbound book closer to herself.
“Nothing that should concern you,” the girl said, stopping her writing to rest her head on the male’s shoulder, “But if this story ever comes to completion then maybe I’ll let you read it.”
“Then, can I have a description of this story of yours?” the mae asked as he was met with blissful brown irises, the glittering flecks of gold serving to animate the features even more.
“Well, its a story about a young girl who tries to find love far, far into the future,” Rhamina explained as she stretched out her arms and back, “In her world, there is nothing but the simplest of magic, and humanity can only rely on their advancements in technology.”
“What kinds of advancements do they have?” the silver-haired prince asked as he brought his arms to wrap around her form.
“They have large, metal carriages that rely on small combustions to move forward,” described the female with a smile as she continued to explain her story, “and they have tall glass buildings that reach into the heavens.”
“My, your mind thinks of the most creative things, doesn’t it?” Umi asked as he let out a fond chuckle.
‘You have no idea, Umi.’
—WARNING : suspect may be armed and dangerous! SUNG MINA, code named CRUX, is a CREW MEMBER on an unidentified firefly-class ship, traveling through the ‘Verse under the radar. They are known for being loyal, practical, patient, and perceptive, but beneath the surface, they have proven to be prideful, vengeful, defiant, and cynical. Although their origin lies somewhere on their home planet HARVEST, they have been caught by stardust and lost to the great expanse.
YOU ARE YOUR OWN EXPLOSION, BRING US YOUR VERY BEST VIOLENCE.
From the time she could walk, Mina always seemed to think about her destination before moving. She always seemed to have an end in mind unlike her twin brother. And it is this hopeful end that she has always used to motivate her actions and decisions. Her patience seems unparalleled as she has no problem waiting to get to the end even when others would have grown frustrated. Mina is however a wrathful person, whoever gets in her way, offends her, or hurts anyone she cares about will find themselves with the bloodiest end imaginable. Loyal—to a fault—she will even put aside her own dreams to focus on the dreams and pursuits of others. And anyone who messes with those pursuits will have to answer to her.
When she was younger, she seemed to be easy going, enjoying life day to day and seeing where the wind took her. She loved her life as a farmer and her time with her brothers was precious. They always knew she was an open book—Mina could never hide who she was. Until the war. As her time in the army continued, Mina became guarded, wanting to be the hard rock that others needed to survive. And even after years she has difficulty letting her guard down now and revealing the Mina that existed before the war. If she is even there. She’ll laugh and joke and play around with the best of them but no one can deny there is almost always a distance about her, like at any minute she could just disappear or point a gun at your face. And she just might. Unless you’re part of her crew, and she likes you.
THERE IS NO NEWS, THERE IS ONLY THE TRUTH OF THE SIGNAL.
The daughter of a farmer. The youngest of five. The only girl of the family. All titles that described Mina from the moment she was born. Titles she wears with pride to this day despite all else. And titles that bring her the most pain.
She has little memory of her father. Sometimes if she thinks hard enough, she can remember a tired but happy man with calloused hands that smelled of dirt and smoke. He died when she was too young to remember much else. And her mother—a victim of circumstance—died in childbirth. The doctors had always said that pregnancy would be difficult for her, something about her genetics. And it would take five children from them to realize the risks. Even at a young age Mina knew better than to ask about her parents. Something in the shadow of her brothers eyes held her tongue.
With their parents gone, responsibility fell on the oldest child. Fifteen years her senior, her brother Hoseok gave up his teenaged freedom to care for his four younger siblings. And when two out of four are rambunctious twins, he certainly had his hands full. Especially when they have a nasty habit of getting in to every kind of trouble they possibly can. From stealing animals in neighboring farms, to starting parties in the streets of the town. To this day, Mina feels as though she owes her brother most apologies than she can possibly count. Not that he would ever accept any.
By the time she reached her teens, Mina had settled down. She liked the farmer lifestyle, spending more time with the crops and animals than causing trouble. She was especially fond of horses, able to care for them easier than even her oldest brothers. And when she was old enough, her brothers found that she was a remarkably good shot. Good enough in fact, to be the unofficial guard of their lands which were vast and fertile and damn if that didn’t cause trouble now and again. Like the day the richest man came to their front door demanding the land either by conquest or by marriage to Mina. She was fifteen at the time. Her brothers didn’t even scold her for shooting him in the leg. Twice.
Of course, this didn’t stop her from getting up to other kinds of no good trouble with her brother occasionally. From sneaking out to dances in town, to running off with friends to adventure out of the town limits. With dirt under her fingernails and dust on her clothes. All she ever wanted was to explore and adventure and take care of her plants. Even when several boys in town tried to ask her brother for his permission to marry her, it would be Mina that turned them away with a wide and toothy smile swearing she’d never settle down with a single boy from town. It didn’t exactly help things when she kissed the Mayor’s daughter during one of the yearly festivals. Yes indeed, Mina had always been a trouble maker.
When The Alliance started to rear its ugly head in the area, Mina and her brothers were the first ones to cry out against them in town. Most people felt too weak to fight. Some even wanted Unification. Friends were lost, rivalries founded and too many fights broke out to even bother counting. Within months, two of her brother left to fight in the war. They wrote often for a while until one day the letters simply stopped and those left behind had to assume the worst. Well, everyone but Mina did. She still believes they’re out there. Somewhere.
This didn’t stop the twins from enlisting the day they became of age. Even when their brother begged them to stay home, to take care of the farm and stay out of danger. But even he knew they wouldn’t back down. They had too much of their mother in them.
When they reached the army, the pair seemed to excel. Gone were the silly children from Harvest. Replaced with driven and focused soldiers who still had a habit of going against direct orders if it meant saving the lives of their squad members. Their work in the field gave them patience and their aim with a gun saved their skins more than a dozen times. Mina especially seemed to change. From the time they were young she had worn her heart on her sleeve and suddenly that notion was so dangerous she withdrew into herself hiding who she was and becoming something new. It would be a slow, painful and terrible process but Mina always deemed it a necessary one. After all, she wasn’t on Harvest anymore.
With so many dying and Mina working diligently, she was granted the rank of Corporal after about a year and a half with the army. By this time she had gained a reputation for being stone faced and cold, preferring to punch first and ask questions never. And when she is separated from her brother and put with a different platoon this trait only seemed to grow more pronounced. Mina was like fire on the battle field and ice off it, clinging to her conviction and hoping to see her brothers again soon. It would nearly shock her squad to death the first time she told stories of home. And the way she screamed and howled into the night when she learned of the fate of Harvest her heart crumbling and her soul crushed.
And her twin didn’t even write to her anymore.
She blamed The Alliance for everything.
But her conviction never wavered.
Unfortunate circumstances granted her the title of Sergeant a few months before the war ended. Leaving her in charge of the squad she had grown to love so much, working with another Sergeant of the platoon. It was in those days that Mina really thought they could win the war. Her partner was brilliant and daring and they made a dangerous team. Even with death looming over them every minute of every day, Mina clung to hope more fiercely than ever. So much so that when it was ripped away by the armistices, no one could stop the enraged tantrum she went on. It simply didn’t make sense to her. How could the side of Unification win? How could the galaxy not see The Independents were right? How could anyone see what The Alliance did and believe them to be the better option? How could they look at the massacre in Serenity Valley and deem it to be the best option for the galaxy?
She didn’t talk for weeks.
Taking odd jobs and money where she could. Mina found herself more in the middle of brawls than with a wad full of cash. Every Alliance supporter she met made her sick to her stomach and the longer she went without contact with her brothers made her blood boil. Were they alive? Was she all alone now? She’s still not sure she wants to know the answer to that. It is when she ran into the soon to be captain of Serenity that things changed.
Recognizing him from her army days and desperate for some sort of familiarity and like mindedness, Mina pushed her way into joining his crew. Taking the rank of first mate seemed to suit her, her military background and minimal aversion to fighting made her ideal. Plus, she had always been an excellent cook. Smuggling wasn’t exactly ideal for her but anything was better than being an Alliance lapdog. And she had never been one for staying in one place for too long. A restless spirit obsessed with space. It was only a matter of time before she ended up on a ship. And she can’t think of a better one than Serenity to end up on.
