I have to shower but before I do Eaglebones is on my mind and I just wanna ramble about him. Apologies I will probably make no sense.
But okay so like. I discussed ideas of what his backstory probably involves in terms of how. I see him and Eagleclaw as a very classic case of "Golden Child" vs "Scapegoat." and. I was listening to uhh "Top of My School" by Kathrine Lynn Rose and thinking. Just how traumatizing it must've been on his own end, with his family, to be the golden child. Like. All that pressure to be perfect, to be the best, to be this version of himself that people (mainly his family) wanted him to be, to the point where he drove his own brother away.
And that's not necessarily 100% his fault. That's their parents. But even still, the fact that he goes on to try and fight him, and has implied to have fought him, multiple times, that he calls Eagleclaw like. His arch nemesis/his enemy or smth. And was just totally comfortable facing him alone. Like. Fuuuck dude nah they were 100% pitted against each other.
But I don't wanna focus on that much so much as. I wanna focus on. What happens after.
Aka him meeting who is essentially GodTM
Idk. That sticks out so much to me. It's meant to obvi, but. It's really nice to see a character that. Turns to religion as a way to help them through their trauma. As opposed to characters who are traumatized due to religion.
Like if it isn't obvious, Eaglebones is a religious-coded character to me, and the only other character that I can think of who's also religious and uses said religion/beliefs to cope through their trauma is like. Aang from Avatar, and I fucking love Aang, so you know Eaglebones is high up there.
Idk. It's really nice. I noticed that after that convo and receiving The Dude, Eaglebones mellows out and becomes a pretty big voice of reason, especially in episodes that heavily involve beliefs/spirituality/etc, to the point where I'm often siding with him during those episodes, whereas before, he just annoyed me lmao.
And on the flip side, I notice he butts heads more with MCBC, someone who's very clearly a skeptic and pushes hard on this 'None of that is real' rhetoric (I hope I'm using that word right). And that's partly why I hc MCBC as having religious trauma in the first place; not only does this seem to be a heavy topic for him, it creates a really interesting dynamic between the two. Religion and Beliefs and Spirituality both heavily affected them in two very opposite ways, and now they gotta deal with that while working on the same team.
Also also, with Eaglebones and his spirituality, this makes for a really cool villain AU where he attempts to play God. Maybe that's going too far, but idk, I can picture him with "Hurricane" from the Death Note Musical and I like the vibes. Especially if you picture him shredding during the guitar parts.
Sidenote: Death Note AU? Eaglebones as Light, The Dude as Ryuk, and MCBC as L? Actually gives me life.
Eagleclaw can be Mello ig idfk.
"WHADDYA THINK OF THAT BC?! THAT'S RIGHT!! I WIN!!"
