﹋﹋﹋﹋꒰ @northstarofthewildeast ꒱ؘ ࿐ ࿔*:・゚ My Starlove! My dearest husband boyfriend, the love of my life. The light of my day and my shooting star of the week. He's such a dashing deputy, isn't he? So bold, so brave, yet so foolishly cute at times. I love hearing his voice, hearing him over-explain things about his interests.. Yet at the same time, asking for my help to pronounce something. Yet so distracting too.. How can I focus on doing my work when all I can think about is smothering his face in kisses? Or think about the way he clings onto me every morning as I get out of bed, while he's wanting to nuzzle my hair more? He's my little corncob that goes popopop! I REALLY need to give that gift to him. He's already starting to suspect something from me, and he won't stop tickling me until I make him forget! He's also so Cheesy too, if he wants to be called the cheese monster, I'll gladly call him that in front of Orion. I love my Nerdlo. Sometimes, I can hear him singing as he makes me some breakfast. He's a really good cook, more than I could ever be. One day, I want to perform a duet together! He can be the singer for my organ tunes. .. But he might be really shy about it, I'd imagine. My thoughts are all over the place, arent they? It's hard to think any cohesive thoughts when I think about my Starshine. Too many thoughts to write down on a tiny little diary such as this.. He's always there for me. Always there to set things right. There to reassure me, there to protect me from any dangerous monsters, and there to hold me and soothe me to sleep in his strong and protective arms. There to hold my hand as we go on walks together, and always here to sew me the next adorable outfit he's been making just for me. I think it's safe to say I really love him. I wished upon a star, and I became his moonlight. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚

howdy!! for the undertale gold au, i was wondering if we could see more of dalv? (or starlo, dalv and rover!! like the family portrait)
if not thats ok :) i just wanna see more of how these sillies work in the au

TA-DA!! Finally, after days... UTG Dalv! I Am So Sorry.
Disclaimer Corn Yaoi IS canon in this AU and for those who don't like it. I am sorry HEHEKGHLF It's too late for me to go back and I thought it'd be funny to include it. Too embedded in the lore now
You find out Dalv's backstory not through recorded tapes, but through his diary! You know, how he has one in the Ruins? In turn, Chujin still records tapes.
I actually wrote Dalv's diary entries and will be leaving them under the cut so you can all get your dose of exposition, but I'll give a summary of it below the Diary Entries if you want a TLDR!
Also, I apologize if the writing isn't very good- I tried my best to keep Dalv's character and write out what happened, but I'd probably edit a couple details if I wasn't lazy LMAO

SUMMARY:
Dalv and Starlo own a large farming area together where they grow crops for monsters to buy. They were given an opportunity to expand the farm, and their business by association, to the Snowdin area. Starlo was unable to meet with the people in Snowdin about it, so Dalv had to go. He was a bit nervous to do so, Chujin offered to join him! As long as he got to test out his latest project; Axis, a funny little robot. Rover, Dalv and Starlo's kid, also joined them! They wanted to visit Snowdin and play with Chujin's robot. Dalv and Chujin left Axis to watch and play with Rover while they had their meeting. But this is when danger struck. During the meeting, a human came through Snowdin and attacked Rover, even taking their hat. Despite Axis already chasing after the human and Chujin giving Dalv warnings, Dalv ran after the human as well to find his kid's hat.
Dalv did find the human... who was very injured after seemingly having had a run-in with Axis who was oddly nowhere to be found in that moment. When Dalv encountered in the human... something shifted in him. This human hurt his child, they could have taken them away... Seeing them... He felt angry. Without thinking, for reasons he can't really explain, he attacked the human and finished them off for good. In a panic, mortified at what he suddenly did, he stole the soul. He didn't want to admit it, even if this was what monsters were meant to do to humans. The soul was declared missing and Chujin was blamed; there was concern over how much damage Axis caused and the fact that he seemingly killed the human so brutally that he also destroyed the soul which they NEEDED.
Dalv decided he was going to try and use the soul for good and try to infuse its power into his crops! He thought if monsters ate them, they'd gain enough power to last against humans AND possibly bypass the barrier. He couldn't do this alone... So he ended up coming clean to Chujin about what happened. Chujin was VERY mad but figured if he helped, he could maybe get his job back. The two worked on the project and when sprouting their first soul infused crop, a cob of corn, Dalv offered to test it.
....It made him very sick.
When Dalv fell down, he had left a message to Starlo in his diary, telling him to read it after he died. He told Starlo to return the soul and shut down the project entirely. The farms are already in danger just for supposedly having some sort of illness in the crops that Dalv seemingly ate (a lie). But Starlo...... didn't listen. He felt bad that it didn't work out for Dalv and felt bad that he felt horrible about it. He wanted to do it for him. Carry on his legacy. Cling to what left he had of Dalv and what he was working on.
....But it was never meant to be.

It's our favorite autism man, Dalv
Tumblr media
I think for my Underfell Yellow Dalv, he's more docile then aggressive; I know fell is supposed to be where the monsters are angry and insane or shit but I like to think that Dalv is one of the few monsters who are weak (considering if you backtrack to snowdin and talk to him) which explains the bandages on his arms along with the scars near his eye
(And I think, just this once; Dalv will allow entry to his room if you both spare and befriend him)

* "Howdy, journal. I've seen my moonlight write things like this, so... Maybe it's a good time to start now... Frankly, I dunno what to write here, so I suppose, maybe my day? Yeah, That'll work. Today, I met up with Ceroba for some afternoon tea with my love. In all honesty, I don't really I ain't really a tea person, but Dalv seemed to like it, so I tried it. It tasted weird. Still not a tea person. Speaking of tea, the name was something I couldn't pronounce. Crisantemoom? Creesantemun? I asked Dalv about it. It's spelled, "Chrysanthemum". I love him a lot. He's super smart. All that aside, Virgil was bein' unlawful as usual. Just like every other day, I catch him, send him to jail, and he gets out. I dunno how he does it, maybe it's cus' the bars are made of wood. ...Nah. I don't think that's the problem. That's it for today, journal. Goodnight." ★STARLO

ok sorry for not showing support but please know all of your dalv art and ideas make me feral, i had a totally different interpretation of him and then seeing you draw and write little ideas and stuff is SO cool and fun and is liek a fun chew toy to go insane over AAA
I don't quite know what you mean by 'not showing support' because this ask alone is enough tbh! I'm glad you're enjoying the ideas I have for him before and after the incident in Snowdin! (I am also shaking him like a chew toy and losing my mind.)
Most of this is from overanalyzing his only journal entry and from small things here and there throughout the game. I also keep thinking about how he would change in the case of a "what if" scenario during the "revenge" route (aka, the One Left au).
Would you believe me if I said that Starlo was living rent free in my head before Dalv showed up and took over?

One thing I want to clear up is that the dragon girl on the swingset was Kanako's friend, not Dalv. not nearly enough time passed for the two's ages to line up, as Kanako only disappeared recently enough that most monsters didn't suspect anything. The girl's file name also confirms this. However, Dalv certainly had some form of connection with the integrity SOUL, or at least his idea of one.
Also W.D. Gaster almost certainly wrote some of the lab entries (more than just 17) but that's a discussion for another day.
In defence of Undertale Yellow, how it can work with Undertale’s canon
So, I have seen a lot of debating recently on Undertale Yellow and whether or not it fits what we know already about the lore in Undertale. Of course Flowey’s presence in the mod is the primary thing that has sparked this debate, with many believing that he can’t have existed at the same time as the Justice Soul and that it is a major hole that breaks the continuity of Undertale. I however, as someone who has spent way too much time with Undertale and has vast knowledge about even the most obscure of details in the game, disagree. I believe that Undertale Yellow fits the original games canon well… maybe a bit too well, and I am here to give my own arguments against the things that I commonly see people say doesn’t fit the original game’s continuity. This may contain a few spoilers for Undertale Yellow, so unless you’ve already seen all 3 routes or for whatever reason don’t care about having the game spoiled, don’t read further until you are done.
Argument 1: all the Souls were already collected by the creation of Flowey and the amalgamates
Okay so this one I don’t really have much to say about. Yes Flowey and the Amalgamates were created using the SOULs of some of the collected humans, however it’s never specified that it was from 6 humans, all that’s made clear is that Asgore did have human SOULs (in plural) that were used in the experiment.
Tumblr media
Argument 2: the timeline doesn’t match up
The timeline has always been a confusing topic among the Undertale community. While the most likely estimate of the gap between Chara and Frisk falling is 100 years due to what Sans tells us during his date.
Tumblr media
There are a few reasons for us to believe that the gap is much smaller, especially considering the weird nature of the Deltarune timeline and the supposed grudge Chara seems to have against Snowdrake in Genocide (who is stated to only be a teenager).
Tumblr media
However, no matter how you view the timeline, unless you have specific dates in mind for things like when Gaster was the Royal Scientist and when the fall of Integrity-Justice happened, or think the gap was REALLY short, Undertale Yellow doesn’t really contradict it too much. The game itself is meant to take place just a year before Undertale, with all the same characters existing in similar positions to how they do by the time of Undertale, however we never encounter them due to being on a completely different path that takes us to very different parts of the underground, being why they don’t behave like they encountered a human before in Undertale.
Integrity is a bit more interesting, because it can vary massively depending on how you view the lifespans of the Ketsukane’s, Starlo (Starlo won’t be important to this, but I mention him since he was childhood friends with Ceroba) and Dalv. It is strongly implied that as a kid, Dalv was best friends with Kanako, and was attacked by the Integrity human some point before the games events. At first you’d assume that this was all not meant to be long before the events of the game, however, Integrity was killed by Axis in UTY, a robot that was being worked on by Chujin back when the Steamworks were still in operation, which we can assume was long before the events of the game due to the state of the Steamworks itself and the fact it is stated to have been used as the source of all power in the underground, which would mean it would likely have shut down around the period that the CORE was first put into operation, so all the way back when Gaster was still the Royal Scientist, whenever you think that was (Axis wasn’t sent to kill the human until after Chujin was fired from his position, however due to the way Axis is locked up and deactivated before we wake up the Steamworks, we can assume he was shut down with the rest of the facility). On top of all this Dalv is shown to be a lot older than he presumably would have been when he was attacked by Integrity, and with him being a Vampire, you could say that he aged that much at a slower rate than a human would, with the Ketsukane’s also aging slow, 2 of them being Boss Monsters and one of them being a 9 tailed fox. We know that some monsters do likely age at very different rates due to monsters like Gerson who lived through the war.
So to give the whole timeline, basically, Chujin worked in the Steamworks and made Axis back before or during Gaster’s time as the royal scientist. After several failed prototypes that eventually got Chujin fired, Axis was sent to chase down and kill Integrity. He managed and Chujin kept the Soul hidden and over the span of years recorded a few tapes for what he had planning, meanwhile Dalv, who was previously attacked by Integrity, went into hiding, locking himself into a mostly dark and unknown part of the ruins. At some point when Alphy’s became the Royal Scientist, Chujin started to mentor Martlet, which led Martlet to enter the True Lab and get some strange serum. Eventually Chujin died around a year or two before UTY, revealing his hidden tapes to Ceroba, which Kanako overheard. This led to Ceroba attempting to inject Kanako with the Integrity soul, leading to Kanako falling and being donated to Alphy’s, and her of course then becoming an amalgamate.
Argument 3: Asgore killed all 6 of the other humans
Okay so this one is interesting, because Undyne does imply that humans before Frisk did make it to Asgore, with her saying that “no human has ever made it PAST Asgore” rather than “no human has ever made it TO Asgore”
Tumblr media
The thing is, that other humans reached Asgore is all this really does imply, it doesn’t necessarily mean all humans made it to Asgore. You could argue that most of them died to Asgore, with Integrity and Justice being the only exceptions. If you really want to stretch you could even say that this line was actually just another attempt from Undyne to make Asgore sound like a powerful and threatening force (since she tries to make him out like that quite a bit in her fight, such as by saying that killing us is an act of mercy right after this), although I find this unlikely.
There is another line of dialogue that I sometimes see used to try and prove that Asgore killed all 6, and while it’s not used close to as much, I’ll still just quickly clear it up.
Tumblr media
This doesn’t really mean that much, all it’s saying is that all the humans that leave the ruins inevitably die. She likely wouldn’t know any details on their deaths do to her isolation, and even if she had some knowledge she would probably still place the blame on Asgore due to his part in waging war and coming up with the plan to kill 7 humans in the first place.
Argument 4: The introduction of new incredibly powerful characters makes no sense
Okay, so this is a weird one, however the explanation for it is fairly simple. Nobody in UTY compares to the original Undertale cast when it comes to how “powerful” they are. We struggle so much against the opponents we face as Clover because well… Clover is much weaker than Frisk, bosses like Ceroba and Axis pale in comparison to Undyne and Mettaton, they just seem much harder since we are playing as a human with much less determination than Frisk. In Pacifist Clover fights a depressed fox lady, meanwhile Frisk fights a literal god; in Neutral Clover goes through a struggle fighting through Flowey’s mind after having his Soul absorbed, meanwhile Frisk holds on against Flowey with 6 Souls until those Souls rebel; and in Genocide Clover takes some time to finally destroy Axis, the failed prototype that got Chujin fired, meanwhile Frisk atomised Mettaton NEO, The greatest invention of the Scientist who was selected to replace Gaster, in a single blow.
The only Undertale Yellow character that I’d say surpasses any character in Undertale would of course be Zenith Martlet, but even then LV 19 Frisk would mop the floor with her, while LV 19 Clover had to go through a lot of effort to beat her, only ever managing to surpass Flowey in Determination after doing so. At LV 20 both Clover and Frisk have massive boosts from LV 19, however Frisk is far stronger, having awakened Chara and caused the destruction of everything, while Clover just destroys Asgore with a super laser blast directly from their Soul and leaves.
Argument 5: miscellaneous
Just to clear up any further confusion, I’ll give quick explanations for some more minor points that I have encountered
Nobody in the original Undertale apart from Flowey, Toriel and Asgore meets Clover, so the other monsters in Undertale acting like they had never met one makes sense.
Flowey not just stealing Clovers Soul is explained well by the game itself. He plans to, however he doesn’t get the chance in Pacifist; sees that we couldn’t surpass Asgore in Flawed Pacifist; steals our soul but is unsatisfied with the outcome and resets in Neutral, and gets gunned down in Genocide.
Toriel believing that it’s been a long time since a previous human fell when she sees Frisk in Undertale doesn’t mean much, she mostly lives isolated in the Ruins, with the other monsters being too afraid to speak with her, considering this and just generally how much seemed to have happened within that year, time could have felt much slower. Alternatively you could argue that the 6 humans all fell within months of each other, and that a years gap is a long time in comparison to the rate the first 6 fell (or 5, since she says the exact same thing to Clover).
Both Flowey and Clover using file 1 at the end of Genocide doesn’t fit what we know about save files no, however I feel it is a little nit-picky to use it as a definitive reason to discredit how well UTY fits into canon, after all the only thing you’d need to do is change the numbers and this would be fixed.
The Gunsmith having been born a week before the Human Vs Monster war doesn’t go against anything we already know. As stated before, we know that at least some monsters like Gerson do live for a very long time.
Flowey having more determination than Clover also doesn’t break anything. Flowey was injected with DT from 5 human Souls. The thing is that Frisk was special when it came to the amount of determination they had.
Unlike with most of the other cast, nobody in Undertale actually indicates that Flowey never met a human prior to Frisk.
Chujin being a boss Monster doesn’t contradict what we know about Boss Monsters. We know that the Dreemurrs are boss monsters, but nothing tells us that they are the only boss monsters.
Argument 6: the nature of the SAVE files contradicts Undertale Yellow
Here we go, the penultimate argument I shall argue against. Never did I expect for this obscure piece of Undertale lore to be the bane of my existence but here we are. For a short time I thought that this could not be countered, only after I had walked away from a discussion completely defeated did the pieces finally start to come together, and now finally… I have an explanation.
First things first, let’s look at the 10 save files. The files go from file 0 to file 9. We know that File 0 likely belongs to Chara due to it being the one that we save with in Undertale, and that file 9 belongs to Frisk since it works as the games Autosave/Checkpoint system. File 8 would then of course belong to Flowey, not just because it’s the one just before Frisks but because File 8 appears in your files after you beat Omega Flowey to mark your completion of a Neutral run, likely implying that his previous SAVE was of course when he was Omega Flowey. Flowey also uses files 2, 3 and 6 throughout the Omega Flowey battle, and since Toriel implies that other humans who fell were also able to save and reset, we can assume that 2-6 likely belonged to previously fallen humans.
Tumblr media
Now the only files that need an explanation are file 1 and file 7, and I’ve seen 2 interesting theories for this. The first is that file 1 belongs to Asriel after he took Chara’s Soul, and the other is that file 7 belongs to Lemon Bread since they know what a SAVE point looks like and tries to trick us with it; but the thing is, which one of these are true? Surely it can’t be both since we know one needs to belong to the 6th… okay I’ll cut that out you already know I’m going to say they are both true.
So for Asriel having file 1, he absorbed Chara’s Soul so should have all of their determination and therefore should also have overtaken their ability to SAVE. Of course it’s unlikely that Asriel would have made anything out of it since the idea of saving and loading was fairly alien to Flowey, however that doesn’t necessarily rule out the possibility that Asriel didn’t SAVE or at least have a file created.
Lemon Bread is a bit more complicated, and we are gonna need to look into the order of events within the True Lab to try and work this out. Firstly, we need to look at some of the true lab entries.
ASGORE asked everyone outside the city for monsters that had "fallen down."
Their bodies came in today.
They're still comatose... And soon, they'll all turn into dust.
But what happens if I inject "determination" into them?
If their SOULS persist after they perish, then...
Freedom might be closer than we all thought.
This is entry 6, when the fallen down monsters are given to Alphy’s and have Determination injected into them.
I've chosen a candidate.
I haven't told ASGORE yet, because I want to surprise him with it...
In the center of his garden, there's something special.
The first golden flower, that grew before all the others.
The flower from the outside world.
It appeared just before the queen left.
I wonder...
What happens when something without a SOUL gains the will to live?
This is entry 8, Alphy’s gets a hold of a golden flower that she injects Determination into.
“One of the bodies opened its eyes.
This is entry 13, when the fallen monsters started to regain consciousness, 7 entries after they were first delivered.
Seems like this research was a dead end...
But at least we got a happy ending out of it...?
I sent the SOULS back to ASGORE, returned the vessel to his garden....
And I called all of the families and told them everyone's alive.
I'll send everyone back tomorrow. :)
This is entry 15, by this point all the monsters that had fallen down were awake, and the still not conscious Golden Flower was still just a Flower, being returned alongside the human Souls.
no No NO NO NO NO NO
This is entry 16, the fallen down monsters started to melt together and create the amalgamates.
the flower's gone.
Finally, we have entry 18, when Alphy’s noticed that the Flower seems to have disappeared from the garden, 10 entries after she first selected it.
So, why are these entries so important? Well we know that to have ever held the ability to SAVE, Lemon Bread would have to had held the right amount of Determination before Flowey first became conscious in the garden, and did they? Yes, yes they did. Flowey could have awakened anywhere in the timeframe between entry 15 when he was returned to entry 18 when Alphy’s noticed him gone, however all the fallen down monsters that were injected with Determination were already awake by this point, and therefore prior to Flowey waking up, they would have been the most determined beings in the underground, perhaps with enough determination that whichever monster happened to have the most was able to SAVE. The time that they would have had with the ability would also have at least been for longer than Asriel had it since Flowey can’t have awoken until after a couple entries later at the bare minimum. Of course since this follows the idea that Lemon Bread had the SAVE ability since they knew what a SAVE point looks like, we can assume that the monster in question would have been Shyren’s sister, since I doubt that the Moldbygg and Aaron that also make up Lemon Bread would hold such a role.
Argument 7: Flowey’s backstory
I really thought I was done with this infuriating Flower, but it appears not. For there is a single hole I need to clear up… Flowey’s Genocide speech. Of course this should be fairly simple to clear up-
Tumblr media
Ah… well okay this makes things interesting. If Flowey didn’t know where the Souls were stored then that would make it very hard to believe that Flowey ever encountered a human before Frisk since if that were the case then Flowey would definitely have an opportunity to sneak by and see where they are hiding, however this is not what the dialogue actually means. Flowey knew where the Souls were, he sneaks in to steal them in Neutral while we are talking to a defeated Asgore, his only issue was that he wasn’t able to get them out without Asgore. In repeated Neutral runs he still just waits until we are distracted with Asgore to take the Souls, and in Pacifist he takes them while the main cast are all distracted which again is when the canisters are open and available.
On a last note, here’s some dialogue that actually helps the idea that Flowey encountered another human.
Tumblr media
It’s made clear all throughout the underground that humans have far greater Determination than monsters, and while you could argue that Flowey was just overconfident in his abilities, it’s still fairly strange that Flowey would still find a human having the DT to overwrite his abilities something special, unless of course he’d encountered a human previously who wasn’t able to do as much.
Conclusion
So, that’s about all I have to say, honestly I’m just glad to be done with it. This was a lot of work, and I’m excited to see this post which I’ve been working on for 3 days get completely dismantled almost immediately. Anyways, wish everyone reading a good day and goodbye!

Friendly neighborhood vigilante. Chapter 11
BatmanxDP crossover. JasonxJazz
[Read on AO3] [Read on FF.net]
Based on this post
First chapter || << Previous chapter || Next chapter >>
Saturday was supposed to be Barbara’s day to relax, or at least, to relax as much as one could when following a major Arkham breakout and the city was under complete chaos.
Twenty four hours ago Oracle found out about the escape and this was the first time she stopped to rest since that. Real rest, since the other times she just took bathroom breaks and went to microwave an ‘emergency food’ tupperware Alfred always left for her for when she had a bad day and couldn’t cook. Bless that man.
Barbara could say she had a restless sleep, which made sense given the circumstances; what didn’t make sense were the screams she clearly remembered, asking her to stop, asking her to look again, asking her to-
She rushed back into her wheelchair and then to her Oracle set up, waking up the computers she didn’t turn off before going to sleep, and running to open a folder she had created and abandoned when it didn’t become a priority.
The Fentons. For some reason, the name was on the tip of her tongue when she awoke, reminding her that she had promised to look more into their research but never got around to actually doing it.
What stood out to her was how unusual it was - you had scientists debunking magicians, you had magicians obsessed with their craft, you had occultists interested in what lies beyond and real life necromancers with grimoires on how to reanimate the dead.
But all in one? That promised, at least, to be a fun read.
Since she had cleared Jason’s girlfriend's background and she had more pressing stuff to look into, Barbara pushed it aside and simply left a note to check it out later. Something she never did.
The universe, or maybe a higher power, wanted her to look into it now.
So she did.
Starting with the easy and accessible part, she went back to the research she already did almost a month ago. They had a presence on the internet - an official ‘Fentonworks’ site existed, but it was outdated and not very user friendly; but gave her a starting point, and this time she was focusing on the parents instead of Jasmine.
Ecto scientists were how they called themselves, despite nobody else was seriously working in that field. Humble origins, Madeline from a small family of farmers in the countryside, Jackson from a family of self proclaimed witch-hunters (no notes on the family name, Fenton-Nightingale, in any of the Justice League Dark records). One college friend, Vlad Masters, had a fallout with the couple after an accident during an experiment and then a prolonged hospitalization.
While any records of the children had been… worryingly escarce, Barbara had easily found every paper they published during their early career, their proposals for funding, their entries for science competitions.
Surprisingly, and funny enough, Barbara found a request for funding to Wayne Enterprises, dated fifteen years ago. The project, from what she could gather even if practical electronics wasn’t her forte, consisted of some kind of… portal? To what they assured was the dimension ghosts came from. It was nonsense, so it was rejected immediately.
Now that she knew what to look for, she found out they did get the funding - from LexCorp.
Barbara frowned, taking note of this.
From there on she found more projects Lex funded, stopping when his brief stint as President happened. Every project was more worrying than the one before: weapons, methods of containment, investigation on new materials that ghosts couldn’t phase through.
A new billionaire took up the task of funding this trainwreck: DALV Co. Barbara rolled her eyes at the name, laughing when she guessed it was Vlad Masters’ doing. Why would a long lost friend who hadn’t contacted them in twenty years suddenly siphon millions into this madness?
Her answer was simple: the portal was a success.
She found articles, papers, personal email - piles upon piles of documentation about a successful kick start of the Ghost Zone portal project.
By the dates, Jasmine must have been around seventeen and Daniel fourteen or fifteen. But there was nothing about them. Just a worrying footnote in Jack’s email to their ‘mysterious’ benefactor about taking a brief break because they had to take his son to the doctor after a ‘nasty shock back at the lab’.
Barbara took note of this. Mainly because there was nothing else since then about the kids in either their personal emails or official photos. If she didn’t already know these two had family she wouldn’t have guessed going by their online footprint only.
The woman shook her head. She already knew about the neglect, there was no need for wasting time feeling sad for a stranger.
So Barbara kept digging and digging, the sun outside the Clocktower going down and the night creeping back in.
It was about time she got some food into her body, so she went and did it. Sometimes, stepping back helped get the bigger picture, something she tried to beat into Dick’s head when he came by moping about a case.
Once she came back feeling a bit fresher and sharper, she stopped her wheelchair in front of the computer, but didn’t reach her keyboard just yet. The multiple screens showed everything she got so far in her research, and while it was plenty, she had this feeling she was missing important information. Something told her the puzzle had pieces missing and it didn’t matter how much she tried to put what she had together, it would always be an incomplete image.
Missing pieces…
She looked at the dates, making a timeline in her head. There were periods of time that the Fenton elders didn’t publish anything or made any big purchases for science projects or for the house, not even evidence of a vacation - nothing that justified the downtime.
Oracle pulled up the research on the Fenton kids. Nothing of note here. There were gaps here as well, especially after they finished high school, but gap years weren’t that unusual so she didn’t take note of that in her initial research.
Gaps. So many gaps.
And they fit with each other.
Every time the parents vanished from the face of Earth, the kids did too. Now that she noticed, it rubbed her the wrong way.
She launched herself now into investigating these gaps and what they were doing in these months. Years of one-to-two month long gaps, paced out enough to fool the untrained eye.
Jasmine’s online college application was in one of the periods of time she could find information easily, but apart from an average performance in her courses, there was nothing of note about her studies. Good grades, but no extra courses or voluntary work, like she did in highschool.
Daniel never applied for college, now that she was paying attention. There was nothing about him, online or otherwise. After the first hospital visit - nasty shock indeed, he had electrical burns in his left arm, probable nerve damage -, there were no follow ups, no check ups, no nothing.
This went beyond neglect. Barbara was starting to suspect that the Fenton kids had decided to help their parents’ endeavors in these ‘gaps’, in these probable top secret projects, so they had too many reasons to not attract unnecessary attention.
If someone took the time to erase this after leaving all the shady stuff the Fenton elders did for LexCorp, she feared what she could find.
It was Sunday morning when she finally made a breakthrough.
Her morning coffee went back up her throat, and Barbara was glad that she hadn’t eaten anything else since last night.
Videos. Reports. Autopsies. Dissections. Records upon records of atrocities committed by these two ‘scientists’ in the name of progress, their names proudly written down next to yet another mysterious benefactor - the Ghost Investigation Ward.
Oracle swallowed her discomfort and went back into the fray with renewed determination. She dug up anything she could find on these GIW people. Where they came from, who they worked for, what they wanted. Level of threat against the world. She started drafting an official report for the Justice League, just in case, since this sounded like something they should be aware of.
Government, it said in the official records, but there was nothing she could see that wasn’t smoke and mirrors to sound big and important. Private money, probably Lex, funded the whole operation - and they hid it well, since she couldn’t find actual proof that backed her suspicions.
It was way past Sunday midnight, maybe already Monday morning, when Oracle decided she had collected enough incriminating evidence on the GIW, the Fenton parents and, sadly, the Fenton children.
She found non-official records of data on Jasmine and Daniel, something about ‘ecto contamination’ and ‘liminality’, from around the same time Jack and Maddie signed on a report about the same topic for the GIW.
What sickened her more was that the kids - Jasmine and Daniel, they were not children by this point, were very into the idea. Comments and jokes filled the non-official reports, quips about the process, silly dares to their sibling to see who could analyze the data faster.
Jason was going to be so heartbroken. And it was her damn fault for not being thorough.
Worst part of all this dumpster fire? It was totally legal. Lex passed some stupid laws about ‘ecto entities’ that basically gave free reign to cut open these ghost-people without repercussions.
Barbara felt her eyes start to water as she opened the direct channel with the Batcave.
Jason was going to kill her. He had been right about suspecting Jasmine and she had dismissed his worries because they looked good together.
“Hey, O!” Tim answered. Weird, Bruce must have been back already from the League mission. “Glad to see you are alive.”
“I’ve been kind of distracted,” she chose not to raise the alarm for the moment. “Is B around there?”
Tim actually laughed. “He’s moping because Jazz found out about Hood’s secret identity and she kind of beat his ass, but I think-”
“I need to talk to him.” Barbara didn’t mean to be so harsh, but if the Fenton woman knew about the family secret by now then it was a worse than bad situation.
Bless his soul, Tim got the urgent tone in her voice. “Got it. Let me connect the call with his phone, he must be having lunch by now.”
Lunch? Barbara looked at the clock in her computer. It was afternoon. Monday afternoon. Already.
“Oracle.” Bruce didn’t do pleasantries, even less when she called and even less when she called his personal phone.
“Bruce, we have a situation.”
“... I’m listening.”
***
Saturday afternoon.
Was it Saturday afternoon already? It was too early, if you asked Jason. He felt like he had been run over by a truck, and the shower and sleep didn’t help ease the feeling at all.
He wanted to be with Jazz. She usually made everything better by just being there.
Also, he totally stood her up. They had a date and he stood her up. Was ‘I’m trying to wrangle all the crazies of this city back to Arkham and not die in the process’ a valid excuse to give to a girlfriend you totally stood up?
She was going to be furious.
Or maybe not?
Jason checked his chat with her and she hadn’t said anything that suggested she was mad at him. The cute message about sleeping well and thinking about him that morning meant that she wasn’t mad, right?
He smiled at the screen, letting himself bask in the idea that he didn’t fuck this up before it even had a chance to develop.
Scrolling up, he found again the selfie with his dumb brother and the purple gremlin. He zoomed on her smiling face, wondering if he could just… have this. If he could wake up to silly messages after a night of patrol, if he could stop worrying about excuses and rescheduling dates, if he didn’t need to tell her lies or half truths over text when he needed to rush because of an emergency.
Maybe - Maybe her knowing wasn’t a bad idea.
Maybe she already knew, too.
Last night she looked like she already knew, unfazed by the chaos of Tim breaking into her apartment, bleeding and needing stitches, of a fight about to break out, of his literal bloodied hands on hers.
“I’d take the secret to my grave.” She had said with a little frown. Determined, decided, completely serious.
He believed her. After all, she had kept her own secret, whatever that was, for so long. Maybe if he came clean about the Red Hood thing she would tell him? Should he say he knew she was hiding something, or would that frighten her more?
He didn’t want to make her feel scared. Ever.
Let’s say she knows… How much does she know? How much did she believe about the legends? Had she created a watered down version that is easy to digest? He refused to believe nothing would change between them after coming clean about it.
Not that he was really trying to hide anymore. He was a coward by not telling her directly, by waiting for her to say it first, and then calling her pet names.
It really was a mess. He only needed to tell her and it all would be fine. Why was it so hard to just say the words?
“Salagadoola mechicka boola, Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo.”
The heck?
“Put them together and what have you got, Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!”
That was -
Was Jazz signing? Singing Disney? Was she really blasting Disney songs so loud that he could hear from his room?
“Yes, salagadoola means, mechicka booleroo, but the thing-a-mabob that does the job is bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!”
Something heavy was moved around, her voice rising above the music coming from the speakers as she did whatever she was doing. What was she doing? Chores? It was such a chores song.
He could just ask.
He could just go over there and ask and maybe join her and talk about rescheduling that date. Could it really be that easy?
Jason chuckled as he finally got out of bed, the smile not leaving his face as he listened to her giving her all singing Disney songs, a little bit off key, but not enough to make it at all unpleasant.
Okay, maybe he was biased. Sue him.
She was starting a rendition of “You are Welcome” as he finished getting dressed and went to the door of his apartment. Out on the hallway the music was somehow louder, and Jason was glad there were no other people on this floor to come out and complain about the music, letting him have this moment to himself.
He rang the doorbell, realizing after he did that there was no way she could hear it with the noise-
The door opened.
She was radiant. A big smile stretched her lips as she saw it was him at the door, her eyes shining with emotions he wasn’t sure he could decipher. She was happy, excited, and definitely not angry at him for ditching their date.
“Jay!” She pulled her phone from her shorts pocket and taped the screen. The music stopped. “Hi. Sorry, did I wake you up?”
Did she guess he had slept in today? She had left messages that morning, but nothing that said she knew he wouldn’t respond or why.
“Nah, I was already moving around.”
She nodded and moved aside to let him in.
Jason has been there not long ago, but the blood on the floor and the kitchen table had been already cleaned. Good. Blood stains were hard to clean if left alone for too long. Smart girl.
“What’s up?” She closed the door behind her and went back to wiping the counters in the kitchen. “Sorry, I’m just in the zone right now. If I stop cleaning I won’t want to get back to it, but I’m listening!”
“Everything okay? Why are you cleaning all of the sudden?”
Jazz scoffed and glanced at him over her shoulder. “You won’t believe what happened to me last night!”
“Oh?” He walked closer, resisting the urge to hug her from behind and choosing to lean on the wall as she did her thing. “What happened?”
“Red Robin crashed through my window, injured, and asked me to help him! Can you believe it?”
It sounded fake that Timbo asked with actual words, but he accepted her comment. “Did you help him?”
“Of course,” she huffed, “I wouldn’t let people be hurt if I can do something to help. But the thing is he bled all over the place and I knew I needed to clean it all before it stained, and then I started organizing the kitchen and I couldn’t stop since.”
He watched carefully as she talked, stepping on the tip of her toes trying to reach the highest cabinets. Taking pity on her, he took the cloth from her hands and started wiping the parts she couldn’t reach.
“I had another visitor.” She smiled at him.
“Is that so?” He didn’t smile, he couldn’t smile back. Would be too obvious.
“Hm-hm. Red Hood swung by as well to check on me.”
“How nice of him.”
He felt her eyes fixed on him, waiting. He wondered if he had been too obvious last night -
(Of course he was, he deliberately called her ‘darling’ for fucks sake)
- and if she had enough evidence to make the jump and ask.
Like a coward, he decided to change the topic.
“Actually, I wanted to talk to you.” Finally he looked back at her, having finished busying himself with wiping the cabinets. “About the date.”
“Yeah?” Still, she didn’t look mad. Curious, maybe.
“Sorry for canceling at the last minute,” her lips twitched with a little smile, but she didn’t interrupt him. “Want to reschedule?”
“Sure. Dinner tonight?” He must have made a face as he opened his mouth to bullshit an excuse for why he couldn’t that night, because she tilted her head and said: “Tomorrow for lunch?”
It was really that easy, huh? He felt a pressure leave his chest, his shoulders relaxing immediately.
“Lunch sounds lovely.”
Jazz placed a hand on his cheek, smiling up to him. She did the same thing last night - was it on purpose? Was it her way to tell him she knew?
“Then it’s a date,” her lips curved in a teasing smile, “darling.”
Oh.
He felt his cheeks burn a little.
She knew. She knew and she was messing with him. All thoughts about how much exactly she knew and if Jazz was actually aware of his criminal activities left his mind. If she knew enough and still looked at him like that, then it wasn’t unreasonable to think she’d want him still if - when she learned the ugly parts too.
He wanted this, he wanted to feel like this, so at peace, forever.
Just like last night, he put his hand over hers on his cheek. She giggled, recognition shining in her eyes. But unlike last night, he leaned down and kissed her like he wanted to before Oracle interrupted them.
This time there were no nosy siblings, no puddles of blood, no emergencies; just the sounds of the deceivingly calm city coming from the opened window and the touch of her lips on his.
When they parted, he couldn’t stop smiling. He didn’t want to, actually.
“It’s a date.”

.. I wish we met under better circumstances.
— But.. that aside, she's always a pleasure to have around. Such a happy-go-lucky monster to have around! Not to mention, she's much stronger than I am. And now that I live closeby, I can always retreat to her whenever I'm in a pinch.
Should I even.. bring up the sleepover incident?
She did make up for it with that gift,
which was super nice by the way..
Her and Moray are really cute together. I often see them in the East Side going on walks! I could go into Moray right now, but I'll save that for another page.. But for now I'll just say that without the two of them together, they're both an unfinished song.
– I don't know if it's a side effect from the royal guard training she used to do, but she's also pretty scary. I wouldn't want to get her upset or keep failing puzzles in front of her, I'm worried she might crack one of my horns! Hey, that reminds me. I should ask her more about the royal guard, I would love to hear her stories as a guardswoman.
Though, if she puts Kanako in danger again,
I suppose I have no choice to put
those fears aside and confront her myself.

- He sees himself as a wilted flower,
but I think he's just as special
as the rest of the garden.
He's just a kid and he's already going through problems I could never even dream on my worst enemy.
If I had as much power as he has, I would be overwhelmed too. I would lash out, I would hurt monsters too. I would hurt humans..
I don't blame him for any mistakes he's made as long as he's showing that he regrets it. He has hurt alot of monsters. But he's shown that he cares about them enough to bring them all back.
He trusts me enough to tell me everything, about his past life, his relationship with the Royalty, He trusts me enough to vent to me, to be an adult figure to turn to for his troubles.
I cannot be another burden he has to worry about. I'm the adult here, I need to do better.
— I've been trying to learn more about his interests, showing him music id think hed enjoy, what his hobbies are.. but he keeps redirecting the conversation.
He's asking questions that he already knows the answer to. Talking about what I missed in my time in the Dark Ruins..
He's a smart kid, but I've noticed.
I have a few theories; he doesn't know what he likes yet, or just does not have any intrests and doesn't know how to express it..
Or it maybe because he's a flower. And he still feels that he isn't a monster anymore like the rest of us. He must not realize no matter what he looks like, he'll still be Asriel Flowey.
That's okay. I got him to talk before,
I can do it again. All I need is time.
- I'll do as much as I can to make
everyday shine a little bit brighter in his life.

Okay, so what if we followed the beginning of the episode "What You Want" 's structure, keeping the whole "Desiree gives Tucker ghost powers" thing and making that the focus. Except Tucker maybe makes the specific wish that he was half ghost.
If you want, the initial motivation for the wish can be very pure, just so we can all sit in awe of how Desiree twists it. So I see Tucker approaching her and wishing to be a halfa like Danny so that his friend isn't exhausted/he can help more.
So, wish granted. But of course, at a cost.
So I see his powers being a lot like Technus's, but his aesthetic is very cyberpunk.
At first, it's fine, great even! But Tucker's ghost core begins acting up a lot sooner than Danny's did. It's certainly not an Ice Core, not any type of Fire Core. What could it be?
Maybe a Void Core. And it's slowly consuming Tucker, both his human and halfa parts. His aesthetic goes from something cheery to something sinister, a black fog with menacing lights that flicker off. The more he uses his powers, the more the Void consumes his morality. He cant stop using his powers and try to find someone to help him control his core like Danny did, because Desiree has been on a wish granting spree to prevent exactly that. Tucker has to stop these monsters, isnt that why he got these powers in the first place? And then when he tries to stop, he can't, because ghosts are attacking him to try to get a wish from Desiree and he will die if he doesn't phase through that sythe or fly over that piece of debris. There begins a bitterness in him that says "Danny always gets the best of things. HIS core isnt unstable. HE can use his powers. Why does he get it easy? Why can't I have that?" At first, he shakes it off. But then. Then he gets hungry. Starving. Nothing ever fills him up. Except sometimes, when he takes something. Takes information from videos of Danny and DALV computers and Vlad's entries on his powers and masters his own within days because he can process faster than any human, he is BETTER than any human. And from there, we get Evil Tucker. I call him Void Tech Tucker. And, like the Void inside him, he consumes and consumes and is never full, not until he takes EVERYTHING.
Or maybe he has a lightning core, and it's more like a possession, the way it was with Sam and Undergrowth. (For a moment, I imagined Box Ghost!Tucker and was dying). We'll introduce a new ghost for this. Still kinda cyberpunk but with a very spikey, lightning hot blue glow twist. This Tucker is EXTREMELY impulsive and motivated by his envy. (Call him The Electric Tucker and he will play an edited version of The Electric Slide.)
So those are some ideas I had for this.
Hey so you know how there's Plant Sam, turned evil by Undergrowth, and we made Void Danny, turned evil by Nocturne, but what about Tucker? Are we going to settle on King Tuck? I mean don't get me wrong, I LOVE the design and concept of King Tuck (though really shouldn't it be pharaoh?), But the whole episode left something to be desired. Hotep Ra? Meh. He could really use an upgrade. The plot of him being Tuck's servant and wanting to overthrow him or whatever that was (it's literally been years since I've seen this episode) was okay, but not at all on the level of Plant Sam and Undergrowth's, or Void Danny and Nocturne's. I want the evil ghost version Tucker. Give him to me.

﹋﹋﹋﹋꒰ @triedntrueluckheart ꒱ؘ ࿐ ࿔*:・゚ - I'll admit, I don't really know much about Luckheart.. Sure, I hear news from him from gossiping monsters here and there, but I tend to ignore them. Don't they know it's disrespectful to talk about someone who could potentially be listening? ..Once I heard he's actually a BANDIT, but everyone's been keeping me out of the loop that everytime I bring him up they tend to shut me down. They must take me as a fool, a monster who thinks I wouldn't notice they're doing it on purpose!
If I just knew what was going on with him, then I feel like It'll be easier to have a proper conversation with him without having to guess what his next reaction is going to be. One day, he seems to be super sad out of his mind, and all I can do is watch and give him gift baskets. Patting him on the back, giving him ice packets and telling him everything is going to be okay.. - Then another day, he's super angry. Sharpening his blade and just.. giving really mean looks to people. On those days I like to keep my distance. I wouldn't want to be on the other end of it. But past all that, he has a wonderful sense of honesty. If I need someone to be super blunt and straightforward with me, Luckheart would be on my list of monsters to rely on! I should probably visit the East Side again, too. Still have to find out who Mr. Chucklenuts is. ..Starlove isn't going to be upset at me for making friends with a bunch of bandits lately, right?

﹋﹋﹋﹋꒰ @countkoffink ꒱ؘ ࿐ ࿔*:・゚ - Mr. Koffin is a mystery me! His mansion, his butlers LACKEYS, it always leaves me curious wanting to know more; Like a song getting cut off before it finishes til the climax.. The first time I met him, he tricked me into writing an evil catchy theme-song you'd see on TV, and then shortly after made me do his chores. I'm pretty sure I got assaulted by 12 different doors there. ...And when he found out I was a Vampire, he quickly changed the situation into converting me into a side-kick lackey. Mr. Larry and Mr. Harry were NOT happy about my sudden promotion.. And they didn't like my purple color. Or my lame cloak.. you get the idea. - He was my protege and I was his pupil for his 'villain lessons.' Even though I hated throwing banana peels at people, writing mean names onto every wall, and learning how to do graffiti.. I DID like being called Count Dalv the whole time. It makes me sound super professional and official, doesn't it? But you won't believe what happened shortly after, we met the famous superhero Crossbones! At least, apparently he is. He has a whole bunch of fans! I never heard about him though. But I guess alot has happened outside the Dark Ruins since I locked myself in there. - Crossbones just shot his ketchup blaster at us. And it was.. really gross. We both retreated and we haven't seen each other since Martlet's sleepover! But from what I know, he's doing well. I hope I can be as brave as he is! If not brave, then at least popular.. More monsters visiting my concerts would be very nice. ..I.. never asked him about where the other Vampires went. Not that it matters.. - He probably doesn't know either.

– Kanako. I feel.. sorry for her.
She's been through so much and she doesn't even realize it. Like a melody that's always off key.. But she's a smart girl. If she needs and help, she'll know when to tell us.
At the party, I remember her calling me Uncle! Martlet had told me I was crying before I even realized I was.. but I couldn't help myself. As soon as I returned home, I baked some corn cookies as celebration. I wonder if I should bring them next sleepover..?
Lately I've been writing a book based off her interests, a gift to her. So she isn't hurting as much. Though my handwriting has been a bit harder to read, because I've been using a different type of pen. The ones I ordered on UGPS hasn't shown up yet, something about it being busy.
I always ask myself..
Am I doing enough, though?

- It's funny, I never realized how similar we both were until I stopped and put my thoughts down on the page. Just two busy monsters getting swept up in the sea of work.. Barely standing up and holding ourselves together with sticks and glue.
Oh- Thats a bit mean, isn't it? I'm trying to put it in an inspirational way. Mallow has to deal a ton of customers a day, I'm sure. I could never socialize with that many people back to back.. it's impressive!
– That being said, she always seems so nervous when I talk to her. I'm not sure if she's like that with everyone, or my presence is still intimidating to some monsters..
I'm working VERY hard to be as approachable and as friendly as I can be. ..Oh! I never asked her what genre of music she liked, perhaps if I play a tune that matched her interests, she'll learn to trust me?
I should thank her for helping me get that wrapping paper for my Starlove's gift. I haven't told her we're dating yet, so when she asked who it was for.. all I said that it was for a dashing deputy. ..I wonder if she put the puzzles together? I don't blame her if she didn't though, I guess it was pretty vague.
..Though, is it just me; or does she sneak rude glances towards Pops whenever I bring him around?
