Lazy summer day. Clouds floating, warmth beating down to those not under the shade of a tree. This tanuki was having a day fishing, mostly just as an excuse to laze the day away. He’d caught a few small fish already, which was pretty good. His fishing pole is between his knees, and his arms are behind his head, his eyes closed.

At least until he heard some rustling in the bushes.

“Hello? What’s out there?”

How curious.

“There’s no need to hide. You can even have some of the fish if you want, I’m not gonna use them all.”

Maybe it was a hungry cat.

hhfie nO but honestly i kinda think catnip in the cat kingdom is probably just a normal, harmless thing, considering they have such a thing as catnip jelly set out for guests. given that the cat kingdom is supposed to be just. cat paradise, i think it'd be odd if the cats looked at something that gives them any kinda pleasure and said 'no, that one's Wrong' laughs

not every cat is affected by catnip tho, and i remember having the headcanon waaaay back that natori might be one of those cats thinking emoji

"Excuse me, Trondo..?" He spoke gently, making his presence known to the dragon. Nen was wearing rather torn, raggedy clothes, seems the feline had gotten into a fight or three! Judging by the makeshift wrap on his left paw, stained with red, he'd got hurt pretty bad.

"You know how to survive, in a place like this, right?" He was more used to snow. "Any tips? My food's soon to run out, you see... my magic kinda works on food." He almost seems embarrassed!

It had been months since the last time Trondo and Nen met face to face. Narrow eyes were focusing up and down over the feline's body, shaking head softly as he smiled somewhat incredulously.

"I see you keep getting into trouble, young Nen. I don't know if I'm more surprised by your ability to always find me or your strength will for survival" it was impossible to tell if Trondo was joking or really meant it, since in situations like that he never failed to use irony for a single moment. He folded his arms and sighed before continuing. "You should be careful walking in these lands. Things are calmer than they were used to be since we kicked Gnasty's butt out of this dimension, but is not a bad thought to be extra cautious. Take this," with a quick motion, Trondo handed a small dagger to Nen with gemstones on it.

"Use it whenever you're in a dangerous situation, no matter the when or where. Oh, and don't even think of going through the canyons by yourself, let alone at night, unless you want to end up as meat. But if you really want real protection, you should always be near me."
