It's truly amazing to see something go from start to finish. I remember them building this theatre and testing things when I would come in in the wee hours of the morning for HOH shifts. Harambe Haunt

Towards the end of October, Animal Kingdom decided to throw a little Halloween party of their own just for Cast Members. In the corner of Africa there was going to be free food, a pumpkin decorating contest, a costume contest, and a viewing of Hocus Pocus. After Animal Kingdom shut down to the guests, Cast Members were invited to come back inside the park for an evening of fun. 

I was most excited to see Animal Kingdom after the sun had gone down. Most of the time DAK closed as the sun was starting to set anyway. Some of the time we’d have extended hours so the park closed after it had already gotten dark, but because I worked in the main entrance area, I never got to see anything but the Oasis after dark. We weren’t really allowed to go walk through the park after our shifts ended, nor did we really want to, so this was our chance. 

It was a fun evening. It wasn’t the best party I’ve ever been to but I wound up getting a “Safety Begins with Me” button that was in Swahili which was pretty cool. Plus, you really can’t underestimate the power of free food.

It’s always fun to be in the parks after they close for special events, regardless of the entertainment they actually have available. I definitely recommend going, even if you don’t dress up as anything! I didn’t, and still had a great time with my favorite sass-masters. 

Somehow, these were the only photos of the night despite us being a big group of obnoxious and sassy Cast Members. I mean we literally sat in the back of the theater and laughed about how prizes were free DVD’s of Halloween-themed movies that had been out for ages, and how the main event of the party was watching Hocus Pocus on a huge screen.

It was more fun than we gave it credit for, but sometimes you get a little savage when you know what Disney is capable of and they still throw you a party that you could’ve thrown in your shoddy apartment in Vista Way. XD Still, always go. Free food trumps all other excuses.
