VICTORIA
2016 – 2019
Victoria was a British historical television series written by Daisy Goodwin. There are three seasons which focus on Queen Victoria’s life as a young adult, including falling in love with her cousin Albert, marrying him and having kids. The series covers the years 1830s to 1850s.
As far as historic dramas go, this one is decent compared to other historical shit that’s getting pumped out now. The series follows Victoria’s early years. The love story between herself and Albert is sweet. Tom Hughes is good looking as well as Rufus Sewell.
Worth checking out.
The series stars Jenna Coleman (Queen Victoria), Tom Hughes (Prince Albert), Alex Jennings (King Leopold), and Rufus Sewell (Lord Melbourne).
The series was supposed to run for six seasons; however, the program wasn’t successful enough to make it to season four.

Perhaps she would never really know him. A year and a half ago that though would have been unbearable to her, but now she had learnt to live with uncertainty, even to love it.

Book Review: Diva by Daisy Goodwin
Tumblr media
At once, both a striking and a humanizing account of one of the most celebrated opera singers of all time, Maria Callas. Known as "la divina" because of her golden voice, she was a gem in society, attracting fame, status, and legions of fans around the world. However, despite her extraordinary talent, she had a deep-seeded yearning to be seen as more than just an artistic commodity for those around her to exploit, she wanted to be revered, to be loved as a woman. And it wasn't until she met Aristotle Onassis, embarking on a tumultuous nine-year affair with him, that she finally experienced the opulence and devastation of true connection.
I thought this was a fair tribute to Maria Callas. The author succeeded in drawing out her indomitable struggle for love and acceptance, not just as a singer, but as a daughter, singer, and eventual jilted lover. It was a testament to the writing that readers were able to feel the highest highs and lowest lows right alongside her. Engaging all around!
Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for my review.

Got some surprising news about ITV/PBS' "Victoria" as Daisy Goodwin did a new interview and actually spoke about the 4th season and it's still in the works of coming back!!! :D According to Daisy they're thinking of getting it back into production in 2025 and she's already written some of the scripts. She said they took time off for multiple reasons including Jenna wanting to do other roles but they do still plan to make season 4. I know most of us assumed it has been cancelled but this whole time both ITV and PBS have only said it's been on hiatus and this has happened to a lot of other British shows so it's still seems possible we will get season 4 after all. Plus this would make Jenna actually closer in age to Queen Victoria when Prince Albert died as that likely will be what's coming and introducing John Brown as well as Daisy already talked about casting him. I do wonder if this happens they'll make it work as a final season too. Daisy also answered a lot about how they made the show and her research into it here too. She's also gotten back into writing historical fiction and has a couple new books coming out soon too and wrote another show that's going to be announced soon too.
So really nice seeing this this morning and actually getting hope we'll get that 4th season after all.

What Daisy’s been up to
I did a post earlier today rounding up what is turning out to be a very busy year for Jenna Coleman, and I included a bit of speculation about Victoria Series 4 which I don’t expect to see film in 2021, at least not with Jenna Coleman as star due to her commitment to The War Rooms. That inspired me to do a little digging to see what showrunner and lead writer Daisy Goodwin has been up to (including if she’s made any comments about the future of the series).
I haven’t found much, but this April news item from Publisher’s Weekly indicates that Goodwin has written a novel that has recently been sold to a publisher, so she’s clearly taken advantage of the “down time” to work on other projects. (She has also written opinion pieces recently for UK newspapers.) I think the last time I saw her post anything related to Victoria Series 4 was sometime in 2019 she posted an image to either Instagram or Twitter indicating that she’d filed a script for the next season; I think this was around the time Jenna was engaged in All My Sons, and before The Serpent was announced, both of which (even before C19 reared its ugly head) took Jenna off the market for filming Season 4 that year.
So for fans of Victoria, it remains a waiting game - both in terms of the show returning and the question of whether Jenna will return if it does.

Finally got another update about season 4 of “Victoria” as the Mirror posted an interview with Jenna Coleman yesterday with her saying ITV/PBS, Daisy, and her have all been having meetings about when and how to film the new season!!! :D We’ve all known that they were taking a multi-year break since season 3 aired in 2019 but this is the first time Jenna’s officially said they’re having pre-production meetings and of course with the pandemic it’s going to change how it’s filmed.  My guess is they might start filming in the fall, especially knowing Jenna’s filming a fantasy project that hasn’t been announced yet. Hopefully this is the case as I love “Victoria” and this hiatus has been so long and I can’t wait to see what happens next. :D

Red - Love, Passion and Danger
Red – Love, Passion and Danger

Traditionally, red is the colour of fire and blood. Spiritually, red is the colour of energy, war, danger, strength, power, love, and passion. Many of the books with red covers demonstrate these characteristics.

❈ "Victoria was born at Kensington Palace, London, on 24 May 1819. She was the only daughter of Edward, Duke of Kent, fourth son of George III. Her father died shortly after her birth and she became heir to the throne because the three uncles who were ahead of her in the succession - George IV, Frederick Duke of York, and William IV - had no legitimate children who survived.
Warmhearted and lively, Victoria had a gift for drawing and painting; educated by a governess at home, she was a natural diarist and kept a regular journal throughout her life. On William IV's death in 1837, she became Queen at the age of 18."

Victoria - Reseña
Victoria – Reseña
Tumblr media
