Starter for: @dahliaxgreengrass At: Slug & Jiggers Apothecary
Since the end of the war, Rabastan had largely isolated himself from other Death Eaters. It was the most prudent course of action. He did not want to be dragged to Azkaban, and he had to distract himself from the outrageous jubilation of the rest of the wizarding world. It angered him to see people rejoicing in the Dark Lord's defeat. So he occupied himself with his work and ignored the malcontent that viciously burned beneath his controlled exterior.
Today, however, he decided to abandon his resolution. He visited Diagon Alley with no other purpose than to check on Dahlia. He had thought of her lately. Pushing a palm against the Apothecary's door, it creaked open, sending the sound of a bell jingling into the musty corners. He found her soon enough, and took a moment to observe her before he spoke. She looked fine. He was glad.

"Hello, Dahlia. Are you busy this evening?" His demeanour was friendly, a smile even etching his lips for a brief moment. But though he had asked a question and would not object to any answer she chose to give, there was a sense of intrinsic expectation in his tone. He was accustomed to getting his own way. "I hope you've been well."

Who do you wish got involved in more drama?
Darling, everyone. A good dose of drama keeps you young, you know. It's all the endorphins or whatever... but I will say that Selma, Dahlia and Pen are annoyingly boring.

✉ | Emmeline ⇄ Dahlia
Dahlia: If the beginning could have been changed we wouldn't be in the situation in which we find ourselves. Dahlia: BUT if the universe had gotten it right and kept everything clean and pure from the beginning and no one fraternized with the enemy we wouldn't be in this situation either. Dahlia: It's all so complicated, isn't it? Dahlia: Unfortunately education doesn't equal knowledge. Emms: Doesn't that make for the perfect thing to change then? Emms: Well, education is certainly a place to start. Without it the ears will remain deaf to the obvious, eyes blind to the best path. Emms: I suppose that's how life goes. Too complicated to ever be fully understood. The question why doesn't appear to be answered, does it?

@dahliaxgreengrass Tilden: You were right! Tilden: I never thought keeping basic potions in stock would sell. Tilden: I mean, who can't brew their own Sleeping Draught? Tilden: But someone just came in and bought our whole stock!

🔮 (dahlia)
Send me a 🔮 and I'll tell you where I think your muse will be in 20 years.
"Well she's quite unlikely to live to 40, isn't she. It's unfortunate, of course, but on the bright side she doesn't have to worry about raising children or a husband, or anything that comes with that."

"Merlin, you look more miserable than a wet puffskein caught in a spring storm," Alecto drawled from her seat at the Slytherin table in the Great Hall across from Dahlia. "Surely our housemates aren't that terrible of company?" Leaning across the table, she lowered her voice into something that could almost be describe as conspiratorial, "I know some of them are in fact that terrible, but we mustn't go about advertising that knowledge of ours, hm?"
Settling back into her seat and taking a long drink of pumpkin juice, Alecto considered the younger woman across from her. She had always struck Alecto as a kind of younger sibling, the kind she could braid the hair of and talk about makeup without worrying said makeup would go missing the next morning, as it had so often with a younger Amycus. For all her love of her brother, a girl like her needed sisters, and someone like Dahlia helped fill that.
Turning a smile with canines on full display to the other girl, she admitted "No, not so shocking as all that, but I do rather fancy I anticipated a little less care and a little more celebration, you know? Lovely as any news coverage is, I did hope for a bit more... Gladness for the service we're providing."

Dahlia stood alongside the crowd, watching people coming and going. It was not her style to be seen at such an event but she felt obligated. The least she could do was stand there, hands folded in front of her non-costumed midsection with a bored look on her face. A joyful presence she was.
Though something interesting did happen. Alecto Carrow spoke to her. It made Dahlia raise her head high. She looked up to Alecto. There was something about the woman that she admired completely. Being acknowledged by her was always exciting. A smile even escaped Dahlia's lips.
"A shocker, yes. But it's so lovely, is it not?" she smirked as she looked at Alecto.

Eavan had always loved the library. She couldn’t spend too much time in it, of course; it wouldn’t do to seem anti-social and bookish. But she spent what time she could there, pretending she needed to study for her classes when she was really pursuing her own interests.
It was in this haven that Eavan first got to know Dahlia Greengrass. As a child, Eavan was always told that Dahlia was destined to die young, and thus not a worthwhile ally. It was in the Hogwarts library that Eavan realized that, while she might not be a worthwhile ally, Dahlia was pleasant company. Disapproving sniffs at the antics of their fellow students turned into exchanges of judgement as they discovered a mutual disdain for the general population. The friendship was truly cemented when Dahlia noticed that Eavan was reading books from the restricted section and they unlocked a shared intellectual curiosity.
Today, Eavan had a book on the uses of blood in potions, a topic she felt people were unnecessarily squeamish about, but knew Dahlia would appreciate. She smiled slyly at Dahlia’s sharp tone, not put off in the least. “If you would like me to leave, I would be happy to enjoy this text in solitude.” Contrary to her words, Eavan moved to sit beside Dahlia as she spoke.

where: hogwarts library. who: open; @noxstarters.
Thank Merlin the Hallows Eve events were over. Dahlia had wanted nothing to do with it and being there made her skin crawl. Being back in the walls of Hogwarts was where she belonged. And the library was one of her favorite rooms. The warmth of being surrounded by books and the lighting was perfect. It was quiet. She could breathe. Nothing was anxiety provoking so her body was able to regulate itself. The library was more than a favorite room but also a bit of a sanctuary for her illness.
Not unlike most days Dahlia brought her Potions books and notes with her, found a lone table and prepared herself for a good study session. She didn’t have any assignments due — she had done them already. This was for her enjoyment and further insight. If she was going to be the best she had to put the work in.
Unfortunately as she began reading and underlining her book, making notes in the margins, a shadow loomed near without saying anything. “If you’re going to watch me you could at least move out of my lighting.”

Andromeda could stomach an establishment of this quality as long as the company she was going to be with could make up for it. Dahlia was good company, more so than that. A childhood friend, introduced by the pureblood parents to keep the elite close.
She always felt it silly that people treated Dahlia as if she as fragile, or worse that she was some anomaly. As a child, Andromeda viewed her as just another child, and the sentiment hasn't changed well into their adulthood where the normal pureblood prejudices would start to form.
"Anything interesting on the drink on the menu this weekend, or is it the usual dishwater they tend to serve?" Andromeda asked after noticing Dahlia's wave and she had sat across from the younger witch.

where: the hog's head. who: andromeda; @blackestrose.
It wasn't the nicest of places, but the Hog's Head was somewhere Dahlia felt rather comfortable. The dust wasn't good for her breathing but on occasion she didn't care. She could get a drink without much distraction. The patrons typically kept to themselves and that served her just fine. But this wasn't just a solo trip. She was meeting with Andromeda.
For some reason, Dahlia liked Andromeda. The older witch had taken to her as a young child — something no one else bothered to do. At pureblood events Dahlia was forced to go to no one even dared look at the sick girl, all except Andromeda. Further, Andromeda spoke to her, made her more comfortable. It was strange but it was what it was.
Finally, the door creaked open and Dahlia looked over to see the brunette. A small smile graced her face as she raised her hand with her elderflower wine to signal where she was.

Dahlia: You looked past the question, Emms. What would you change? I'm very curious. Dahlia: Haven't they gotten education in one way or another? It hasn't made a bit of difference. We're in a rough spot here. Emms: If I could change anything, anything at all, it would be the beginning. Emms: A different beginning and things may have gone in a very different way. And just like that none of that would exist. Emms: Does that answer your question? Emms: Everyone has gotten eductation, does not meant they learned how to use the knowledge given to them.

Dahlia: Things are a right mess at the moment. Dahlia: If you could change *anything* what would it be? How do you think the peasants could be eradicated? Emms: Anything? Good question. Emms: As for your peasant problem, i think education may help. not sure that would be something they'd like all that much.

Dahlia: They could never mess with my perception. Dahlia: It's just a shame that the masses have proven how ignorant they actually are. Dahlia: At least I know who the smart ones are. Dahlia: Feeling lucky, yet? Emms: Of course they couldn't. Emms: Well, no surprise there. Hardly a revelation considering how things are going. Emms: Lucky? I don't consider not being a fool a thing based on luck. Should I?
