I feel like Salvatore was in his fashion girlie era when he wrote Gauntlgrym. Dahlia’s red dress in her intro, her leather mini skirt (yes, please), Athrogate in his gray velvet breeches and an amethyst (not just purple!) shirt- and of course, Jarlaxle with purple jodhpurs?? And the open front white shirt??

Book Review: Charon’s Claw by R.A. Salvatore

My “are Jarlaxle and Artemis really that shippy—holy shit” reading order:

1. Start with the Sellswords trilogy (first book: Servant of the Shard) and the short stories “Empty Joys” and “Wickless in the Nether.” Yes, they are that shippy, and you have two new blorbos.

2. Read the comic adaptation of seven early books (from “Homeland” to “The Legacy”) to see more of Jarlaxle and Artemis and also find out what is going on with the heroes.

3. Start reading from Streams of Silver on to see early Artemis and Jarlaxle and how they meet. Realize you’re now invested in the heroes too and you’re going to be reading a lot of books.

4 (optional). Spoil yourself through Tumblr, wikis, and the Visual Dictionary. Simultaneously with 3, start reading from Gauntylgrym on for a) Jax and Artemis’ Divorce Era, b) Dahlia Sin’felle who you have already fallen in love with, and c) Effron who your husband fell in love with and will tell you nothing about except he’s scrungly and has no sense of direction.

Look. I want people to read these books. I made a slide show and everything.
