happy saturday! so we’ve talked about how josh loves skin to skin contact, and i also know it’s good for babies to have skin to skin contact, which brings me this thought: you come home after a quick run to the store, and know it’s your baby’s nap time so you enter the house and quietly call to josh but you get no response. so you wonder about the house and don’t see them anywhere, until you look outside and see josh on a lunge chair in the shade having a snooze with the baby. he doesn’t have a shirt on, and the baby curled up on his chest. both of them are napping away in the cool breeze outside. -🦦

Oh is it Dad Josh hours?

Imagine how excited Josh is when he learns that your baby can hear his voice when you’re pregnant. He’s been talking to his baby since he knew of their existence, but this means the absolute world to him. He finally feels like he can connect with his baby. So naturally, there is never not a time when he’s with you that he’s not caressing your belly and talking. He’ll talk about his day, his music, film, anything for the little one to get to know his voice. And of course, he’ll sing to the baby as well, his singing becoming the only thing that’ll calm the baby down. Even when Josh is away, he’ll ask you to out the phone on your belly so he can still talk to your baby every night. I also imagine how Josh greets you after he’s been away all day (think to that picture in his voice teacher’s house), and he goes straight to you, kisses you and your belly and says “how’s my sweet girl and sweet little baby hmm? I’ve missed you both.”

Dad!Josh thought:

You and your daughter are side stage watching the boys perform. Your little one wearing her protective headphones holding her stuffed cat Momo bopping up and down to the music. You smile and turn to Jita and point, but when you turn back she's gone! Frantic you look all around and then you see her. Running full speed past her uncle Jakey and right to her Dada.

Josh notices movement off to his side and when he turns, he sees her. Crouching down to pick her up, he talks into the mic. "Well folks, looks like we've got a suprise guest tonight. Say hello Wren."

"Hello" she says and the crowd goes wild.

"Hey now, I have an idea. Do you want to sing your favorite song for these fine folks?" He asks and she shakes her head yes. Looking over to Sammy, he gives a nod and Sammy starts to play the itsy bitsy spider.

They sing together and when the song ends, Josh has a huge smile on his face and says, "Okay baby, take a bow."

i have some more dad josh! one night, your baby starts to fuss a little, so josh wants to get out of bed and comfort her before she wakes you up. josh takes off his shirt and holds the baby to his chest. he walks around and bounces her lightly trying to soothe her softly. the baby won’t stop fussing, if anything she’s getting worse and josh is beginning to panic. he sees how good you are at comforting your baby, and doesn’t understand why he can’t calm his own baby down. he’s devastated, and begins overthinking everything, how can he go on tour and leave his baby for a year if he can’t even calm her down when he is with her all the time. josh walks into your shared bedroom and tearfully wakes you up saying he needs help calming the baby down because he’s a failure and feels like he can’t do it. you immediately look at josh like he’s crazy because he’s been the best dad ever. your baby is obsessed with josh, how can’t he see that??? you explain to josh that the baby doesn’t need comfort she’s just hungry! as soon as josh hands you the little baby and you begin feeding her josh is rendered speechless and goes on and on about how amazing your body is and how beautiful it is that you can provide for her the way you do. josh is so happy to be cuddled with you and your baby in bed, all his worries wash away. eventually, you’ll have to have a conversation with him to ensure that he’s the best father he can be, and the baby loves him so much, but for now your content to be cuddled up in bed with your two favorite people. -🦦

Okay so he’s a soft Josh thought. But this time it’s a Dad Josh thought hehehe.

So going along with the whole winter and cold theme, imagine you go out with Josh in Frankenmuth around Christmas time, and you decide to walk around and shop and look at Christmas lights. Except this time, you are pregnant, and Josh is constantly trying to make sure that you are warm enough. Like he asks if you and the baby are cold every five seconds 😂 Although you insist that you’re fine, you do start to shiver after a while. Josh sees this, and decides to zip you up in his big fluffy coat and put your head in ✨him hat✨. He also makes sure to keep his hand under the coat when you stop to take a rest and rub your bump and says “I need to make sure both of babies are nice and warm.” All the while you are in his hometown celebrating Christmas and about to start your family together and it’s just such a special time. 🥹

dad to be josh coming for you! once you’re pregnant, josh is very protective of you. not in a cringe way, more of a hover kind of protectiveness. in a way, he has a tendency to panic at little things. one day you’re hanging out with the boys, and you notice your baby is kicking quite a bit but josh isn’t sitting next to you, jake is. so you reach over and softly grab jakes arm and place his palm on your belly. jake immediately gives josh a look to make sure josh doesn’t mind and josh smiles and nods his head as if he’s saying “go on” and of course as soon as jakes hand is on your belly the baby stops kicking! and jake is so visibly disappointed, you lightly jab your belly with your fingertips a few times to try and encourage the baby to kick. of course as soon as you do this all of the boys gasp so josh whips his head around to see what’s going on and jake doesn’t even have time to remove his hand before josh says “what are you doing to my baby!?!” and jake can’t even answer through his watery eyes and ear to ear smile because he can feel the soft fluttering of your baby kicking the palm of his hand. all of the boys stare in awe at jakes reaction. not that you or josh notice this, but from now on all the boys quietly argue with each other over who is going to sit next to you because they too want to get a feel of your baby kick. -🦦

I have two scenarios for you this time. The first is an add on to the first submission I posted. Imagine when you stop to rest and he has your hand under the coat on your bump, he feels the little one start kicking. Josh, as always when he feels it, lights up like a Christmas tree and says “You feel me my love? I can’t wait until you are here and can bundle up with us.”

Fast forward to when the baby is born and not only do they have a matching ✨him hat✨ with dad, but a matching big fluffy coat and Josh is walking around so proud to match his baby and show them the Christmas lights around the place he grew up. 🥹

this ask sent me down a rabbit hole of tiny baby puffer jackets with fluffy hoods and I’m in shambles 😭🤍

Okay but like this josh watching you rock your little one back and forth before the show. She's overtired and overstimulated by the hustle and bustle of the day so you three just take some quiet time together to get her to settle. How he'd hand you the blanket from behind him to keep her warm on your chest and how a smile would never leave his face because you're both completely happy and in your element

Okay here comes some self indulgence: Picture dad josh married to a woman who’s heavily tattooed and his kids are so curious as to why mommy has drawings on her when daddy doesn’t and so to satiate them josh let’s his little babies color and draw all over his bare arms and whatever else

WAHHH THIS IS SO CUTE he would be so okay with that 😌🤍 my aunt and uncle are both covered in tattoos (my uncle has both of his legs covered and my aunt has sleeves on both arms + her chest is covered) and before my baby cousin was born we all joked around and asked if she was gonna come out with full body tats lol

Hey so just an idea but maybe think about dad josh at disneyland. During the fireworks he'd find a quieter spot behind New Orleans square and hold your little one close to his chest. How they would rest their head on his shoulder and fall asleep easily from his comforting hold and body warmth, it's definitely passed their bedtime. How he would rub their back and sway softly to the music playing through the speakers. How he'd insist on leaving to beat the crowds and get them tucked into bed from the eventful day they had.

Ok hello I’m back and I have something to add now. Imagine waking up in the middle of the night in an empty bed so you get up to search for josh and find him squished into your little ones toddler bed all snuggled up around them because he woke up in the middle of the night and missed them. Maybe your babe fell asleep on his chest and he has his hands over their little back and cradling the back of their head, or maybe they’re face to face and baby is holding his face in their tiny little hands bc they love falling asleep snuggled up with their daddy :((( bonus points if he just got home from touring and can’t help himself from catching up on all the sweet little kid moments he’s been missing for the past months :((

OH WERE TALKING ABOUT DAD!JOSH?!

My latest mind numbing thought on that is the following;

You’re half way through the pregnancy and the baby won’t settle down at night for you to sleep. Josh learned that at this stage, the baby can hear and plays music in hopes that the baby will calm down for you. The baby takes a liking to “Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley”. So every time you have trouble getting the baby to stop moving he will either sing to them or play the song.

Fast forward to when the baby is born, things start off great with their sleep pattern but it slowly goes to shit. You’re exhausted and you don’t know what to do. You almost start crying when the baby wakes you up for the fifth time that night. Josh catches you before you can get up and tells you he’s got it this time. Within 10 minutes the baby is asleep again and you hear Josh softly singing the same song.

consider this: it’s a baby girl and when she gets married, that’s their father-daughter dance song 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲

Imagine Dad!Josh taking his kids to the fair. Him and his spouse had agreed on a set amount of allowance for each child for evening, but whenever they aren't looking, he keeps slipping them five dollar bills behind his back, saying "Don't tell ...."
