Hello world! This is my first time running anything other than a personal blog, so please bear with me djejjfjfjdjd

I go by Mod Meg, or Mod Diane! I'm twenty-one years old, and I go by She/They pronouns!

This blog is for all my Adult Animation writings and headcanons, with a heavy focus on Adult Swim sources (What can I say, I got that Adult Swim autism.)

I focus mainly on X Readers, Headcanons, and shorter drabbles (500 words or less) . Although I focus on X Readers, I'm definitely down for almost any character x character. So uh, we all know abt Jacknife's dad yeah? Well, do we know anything abt his mom or is it like free game?? I know remember anything like that and I didn't see anything abt his mom :P

my spouse and I were talking about this but I think one of the reasons hazbin hotel & helluva boss are so popular is because - think about it: when have we ever had an adult animation series like this?

We’ve got the Seth McFarlane-type shows (Family Guy, American Dad, and all those other variations studios have made) - typical crude humor and situational comedy with characters staying largely the same over 20+ years

We’ve got the chaotic, bloody, slapstick shows like Superjail - but there’s never any substantial plot or character development. Which is fine, these are the shows I watch stoned and I’m not looking for much

We’ve also got the “decent” adult animation like Bob’s Burgers (my spouse also said Bojack Horseman was alright, but I haven’t seen it myself so I have no opinion) I’d say Futurama and The Simpsons could be considered as such too, and both were/are super popular

And yes Hazbin/Helluva are also filled with sex jokes and swearing just like most adult animation, but there is also meaning and purpose to the events that happen. It has relatable characters with relatable flaws who actually go through important development (and yeah I know people who don’t like the shows will argue here but honestly if it’s not your show it’s not your show and that’s fine)

And with regard to animation, it’s just nice not to see the same mass-produced cal-arts style shit that seems to have taken over in the last couple decades. The only thing I could compare Hazbin/Helluva’s style to is Invader Zim (which iirc Viv did in fact get inspiration from that art style) - which was a *kid’s* cartoon. Remember how popular *that* was? All the Hot Topic merch?? (taking this opportunity to say this would be the perfect time for a JTHM animated series but I digress)

Big also: when has it ever been a *musical*?? (I’m not counting shows that have a special song episode occasionally) like how many adult animated shows have a fuckin BANGER OST???

Genuinely when was the last time an adult animation *made for and geared toward adults* checked all the following boxes ? :

-unique and attention-grabbing art style

-fun and compelling characters

-actual plot/lore and cohesive storytelling

-great music (some of the VAs were on broadway ffs)

-doesn’t force itself to be somewhat family-friendly for the sake of marketability

I’m not saying that it doesn’t have flaws or is the #1 best show ever - I know there’s plenty of good adult animation out there, but I just feel like there are a lot of unique aspects to these two shows that we just really don’t get with typical adult animation.

sofia the first: i knew about this show vaguely since i was a kid having seen it in stores on merch and stuff but I never watched it until last summer. literally it was like late night like 1am or smth on summer break and i was bored and I was on disney+ and my brain went "you know what? what if i watched sofia the first. for funsies." and i went into this show intending to shit on it for a while and then leave. i then realized how fucking peak this show was and i did not leave. and after less than a month i was so deep in the hyperfixation i joined the fandom for realsies. im still in the trenches bc i decided to rewatch the show so sometimes im DEEP in the trenches when i rewatch an episode that hits me

superjail: blame the stf discord server because i saw one fanart of what i think was jacknife's dad and then i went "huh superjail that sounds fun" and i looked it up and started watching and fixated on it <3 the animation and wacky vibes got to me and now i own the dvd of s2

The warden and the twins are at some odd agreement of having each other around

The twins are often referred to in the same sense of inmates despite being able to wear their own clothes, leave superjail, and have a personalized room. As Jared said it's their "privileges" it's also implied nobody knows why the twins are in superjail the only person who probably knows is the warden what most likely happened is the twins showed up one day and didn't want to leave to the warden made them "inmates" and they probably left it at that

The warden and the twins are both conditioned to violence and chaos as an "activity" so they both find interest in each others activities they both also crave control in situations they want to have things their way and if it isn't they'll throw violent fits over it though the twins are always calmer than the warden I think that's because the twins are used to being walked all over by their family their broodling, their dad, even their dog have always been in charge of them.and hurt them so despite craving control they're used to not having it

Unlike the triplets who throw a massive rage filled fit when things didn't go their way much like the warden the wardens need for control falls back in his status as a warden his entire childhood so both the twins and the warden are emotionally immature abused man children who crave power and fine themselves pushing each others buttons to get control the warden winning with not only his control over their temporary home but their overall safety which the warden has used against them to humble them a bit but he doesn't actually have any violent intentions against them they both entertain each other the twins calling the warden a genius and a buffoon and the warden calling the twins Artists and trouble causers they both serve a purpose to each other that they unknowingly need because without the warden the twins lack safety and control

and without the twins the warden lacks anticipation and stimulation the problem being that all that is fairly replaceable to the warden but he keeps them around because he enjoys their mischief more than the average chaos of superjail I think the twins depend on that need for chaos to a harmful degree because they're not used to caring about the lives of others or anyone really not even themselves it's shown the twins are rather obedient if they feel they need to be like how they blatantly disrespectful their father yet compliment and lie to impress the triplets they seem to fear them more

It probably has to do with the fact the triplets are the favorites they are the perfect ones the better ones the twins respect them because they were conditioned since birth to respect how better they were in comparison I think it also has to deal with the fact the triplets often beat and berate the twins showing the two are fairly afraid of them and their anger so despair their bratty behavior it shows the twins feel comfortable and safe around the warden in a way they don't feel around their family they're also not shy of helping the warden when they find it fun like the ice cream mountain situation but after being refused they massacre the ice cream mountain in a humorous hissy fit the warden still not minding despite the damage only being excited that the inmates actually cared about the ice cream mountain that much

Also in that comic when referring to the twins the warden says to not trust their pretty boy looks because they love causing trouble showing even despite their lack of order the warden not only finds them entertaining but also shows some attraction to them the twins also in that comic make a dirty minded joke about creamy wet dreams to the warden but seemingly just for shits and giggles

they both seem to lead each other on and press each others buttons for fun both of them practically challenging each other for control over a situation complimenting, insulting but also somewhat flirting with each other when they do rarely meet both sharing the same sentiments about entertainment and shared morals of how they were raised and trauma they're normalized to would put them in a complicated hot and messy relationship the twins are also shown to be fairly lonely their only comfort being each other at times and it shows they actually do crave some kind of relationship with someone though both seem to have relationships in an odd or different way

I love over examining they're like 2 episode relationship

Italian

Used to be fluent in Italian as a child but didn't speak it as much as a teenager and mostly forgot it as an adult

Not a dog lover but really cared and loved that dog

Only child, but lived with his cousins, uncles, aunties, grandpa and his single mom

In his mid 30s

He was never IN the mafia but definitely some of his uncles and friends are in the mafia, who were mostly associates and soldiers. He was friends with almost every criminal in NYC (mostly because of his friends and uncles) and still keeps contact with them.

He was a scammer. Used to scam people by being a fake taxi driver and selling fake tickets. He got caught by an undercover cop when he was in the airport, picking up tourist

Always skipped and Didn't pay attention to his class. Definitely cheated in every exam and passed. Was able to graduate High School but never went to College

The arm tattoo is his girlfriend, from Cleveland

Ash Firin

Long lost half brother of Nicky (this Headcanon was from this tumblr user cobalt-punk? I think. Who said that Ash's dad looked similar to Nicky and I really liked that HC, so it stuck with me)

In his mid 20s

Pushed around a lot by his "friends” and forced him to join their crimes because of his speciality in fire

Was caught by Jailbot, after he accidentally burned down the hospital when petting the pony (during s3 ep10). Also he was in that hospital because his friends left him behind and he got beaten up by the guys who were chasing them

Didn't have any extended family to take care of him, after his dad abandoned him.

His love for fire started after the incident in the theater and got his fire powers when he was in superjail (probably because of the twins)

Had a lonely childhood, most of the kids bullied or were scared of him because of his appearance (after the incident in the theater).

Might have set a kid's hair on fire when he was in the orphanage

Lived in the orphanage until he was 18. Was never adopted

Gary Sedi

In his early 40s

Was a serial killer and a librarian (idk he gives me that vibe)

Had a good childhood, never bullied or abused but was super anti social and his only friend was Bird

Lived in a small town during childhood and early adulthood

I think his real voice is soothing and he's able to change the way his voice sounds, before his old warden cuts his tongue. Because i REFUSE to believe that's his real voice

Bird has been with him since he was a kid, given to his parents as a birthday gift

His weakness: When he doesn’t have his glasses on he can’t see shit

Definitely one of the healthiest and well kept inmates. Has his American Psycho routine

Back then, even if he had his tongue and vocal cords he was a very quiet man. He was friendly (maybe not sincere) to people and talked if needed
