My engineer dad who has relatively narrow (but fair) guidelines for him to Actually Like a movie vs his gf who likes every movie
#he likes his movies a) based off of real-life events b) Dad Comedies or c) So Bad It's Hilarious a la sharknado/most the rock movies#vs if she enjoys it she enjoys it :) (derogatory bc she's never had a critical thought in her life. lol)#dad likes top gun but not maverick bc he said it was like fast & furious but w planes. his gf loves maverick bc oooh how fun#she has Severe White Woman Media Taste and has tried to get me to watch The Crown multiple times#last time i had to be like 'i don't. care about the royal family' and she was like 'but it's so good tho :)'#yes we're american and yes she was very sad abt the queen dying. anyway the dichotomy in their movie taste is funny#dad tells me about a movie that has a promising plot but was garbage and i get to be like 'yeah that sounds awful. she loved it didn't she'#and lo and behold.#not to say ALL her movie taste is bad. she loves fried green tomatoes so
