Of course this post could only come from an ex Destiny Player. Jaded by all the dollars spent on destiny 1 and 2. For clarity, I personally bought the destiny ps4, every collectors edition up to forsaken, every single one. And I probably have a tally of $1k+ spent on the franchise as a whole. I would not undo all of it if I could, I enjoyed a lot of those years up until post forsaken. I tried to play the exp stranger dlc but tbf I couldn’t get through it. Can’t even remember the name of it. (Still love the exp stranger tho that’s wife)

No hate to destiny enjoyers but a blazed post about the final shape? Strange.

I have heard it’s actually really good and that it’s finally something that the players have been asking for. The game as of final shape is in good shape. (Don’t quote me on that)

However lmao bro they met the bar. Waited 10 years for destiny to finally deliver a game they should have delivered on day 1. Like again, the game is good now I’m glad and I will never discourage people from playing the game if they are having fun but like are we going to forget their predatory practices with micro transactions that are still in the game?

Are we going to forget that story content that is integral to the current story and is often times referenced across current available story can’t be played?

You can’t play forsaken. You cannot play forsaken. There was a physical release for forsaken. You can not play it. That’s crazy to me. Like it’s not like it was a part of Destiny 1 an entirely different game, and then isn’t included. It was in the same game and then removed. No sorry “vaulted”. That’s like if FFXIV decided to”yeah we’re vaulting ARR so the game starts at the bloody banquet now”.

There are a lot of games these days that have released in piss poor states. But one thing that I will give Cyberpunk and Fallout 76 and many others over destiny any day is that the fixes came at no cost to their players.

Cyberpunk was fixed and if you already owned the game all you had to do was download updates. Same with Fallout 76 Atlantic City, The Pitt, etc etc you don’t have to pay for to play after the game has been improved. No man’s sky. Released in an ABYSSMAL state, and since then have released free updates constantly over the years and has turned out to be a fantastic game.

Destiny players don’t get that kind of love or grace from the management at bungie. I remember in D1 when they said they were adding eververse it was to pay for FREE CONTENT. That the money you spent there would go to creating content for the players. They went back on it and never did that.

Again no hate to the players, the players just deserve better from the people they are shoveling hoards of money to.

Weird to pay to do Bungies work for them by advertising. Too bad blocking ppl doesn’t stop you from seeing blazed posts.

✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name?

Well. ORIGINALLY. She was just kind of me porting my fursona, whose name was Marnie [her name was marnie before mine was, i was like fuuck that's befitting of me and took it] and i was like well marnie wouldn't work with the setting let me fuck around. and it turned into marinetta. she is no longer like my old fursona in any way other than "She's a rabbit and marnie [fursona] was a rabbit"

🌼 - How old are they? (Or approximate age range)

That is a difficult question. because . she was dead for a couple of years. if you count those years she'd probably be like in her forties technically? but she's more like . in her early thirties. sorta.

🎯 -What do they do best?

Whatever the surgeon needs her to do really.... her whole Thing is that well she's found one person who can be a sense of stability in her life nd she will do anything to make sure that she seems useful enough to keep around. but. well. her job description means killing people pretty often and she's gotten really fuckin good at that.

❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?

She doesn't really have many good ones, and her childhood was not easy for sure. but she does have memories of when she was very young, and her mother would play the hurdy gurdy for her. She still has her mother's hurdy gurdy, it's her only real Possession.

✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories?

Losing her mother. She was the only person in her life for..... A Long Time. and it happened when she was pretty young too. it really kind of ruined her .

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?

As I said earlier just wanting to port in my fursona but a lot of stuff contributed to what she is now. the idea of her weapons being made of her own blood was kind of a lady maria / chikage thing. Her weapons being sickles of crystals of a sort i stole from d*stiny 2 bc i liked one of the abilities but also i dont think about d*stiny at all anymore lol . them being on chains attached to her i got from kratos i think? also i just kind of wanted an excuse to have a tortured edgy character because like i didn't really get to be in a lot of the groups where something like, mary sue-y would be something i could Have and i have a lot of mental stuff relating to that. but nonetheless.

(shuffles onto the stage) hiiiii i figure it’s time i talk a lil more about the au i’ve been cookin up! i posted a couple designs for chris and martin already and the rest of the crew’s on the way (eventually lol) tl;dr this is a d/e/stiny 2 au! i’m gonna be calling it the fireteam tortuga au moving forward :] basically it reimagines (a majority of) the team as guardians from the funney sci fi looter shooter game. i also know that probably makes 0 sense to people who aren’t familiar with the game so i’ll put more info under the cut!

so to preface, this is a (VERY CONDENSED) overview of what d2 is:

sometime around 2014-2015, humanity encountered a spherical entity/ship/device(?) called the Traveler, a being capable of gifting the power of Light to those it chooses. earth entered a Golden Age that lasted a couple centuries before the traveler’s age-old enemy, the Darkness, caught up to it. forces of the dark attacked the sol system and caused the Collapse, which humanity barely survived thanks to one final sacrifice from the traveler itself.

after just managing to repel the darkness and banish it from the system, the traveler went dormant and released tiny robotic companions called Ghosts to seek out individuals who could potentially be capable of wielding the traveler’s Light as a weapon. all of these people are actually individuals risen from the dead to be brought back as. well. basically immortal supersoldiers. they’re first known as Risen/Lightbearers, then later, as humanity reestablishes its footing, go on to be known as Guardians.

Guardians come in three major classes: Titans (basically the designated “tank class;” they’re the heavy hitters and the primary defenders), Hunters (the “lone wolf”/rogue type, typically specialize in fast-paced gunplay and navigating the battlefield efficiently), and Warlocks (space wizards!! literally!! basically you’re typical mage class/primary support). They work for the Vanguard, which is basically the main organization/network the Guardians work under to defend the last City of humanity. They’re based out of the Tower, which is situated along the City walls.

and...that’s pretty much the premise! if i went on to talk about the lore/entire narrative so far we’d be here quite literally all day (seriously. the most comprehensive lore recap we have so far is four hours long -- and it’s already outdated by 2 expansions!) so instead, here’s a couple more general things you need to know for this au in particular:

Light and Darkness are considered paracausal forces, which is just a really fancy way of saying they’re the two major forces of magic/nature that play an instrumental role in basically everything that happens in this world. Light is often associated with forgetting/starting anew, which is reflected in how Guardians often take on entirely new identities after they are revived as lightbearers (since. yknow. they basically lose all their memories upon first revival). meanwhile, Darkness is often associated with remembering/understanding the true self, which we see in abilities like Deepsight (basically a way to glimpse into past by bringing parts of those memories into the present) and the Stasis subclass (which was unlocked by the player essentially looking within to draw that power from themselves rather than an entity like the Traveler). originally, Light and Darkness were basically equated with “good” and “evil,” but thanks to recent events in the narrative, it’s becoming increasingly clear that these two paracausal forces are inherently neutral, while the wielder of those forces determine where they fall on the moral spectrum.

there are four major elements/damage types in the game: Arc, Solar, Void, and Stasis. they’re all pretty much self-explanatory i think lol

every guardian is capable of wielding all four elements, although many tend to lean more towards one elemental subclass than the others. the element assignment i give for each crew member will reflect this.

the game itself basically incentivizes players to go after the best loot possible to help with harder encounters as they get closer to endgame content. that being said, there’s a class of unique/more powerful gear called exotic weapons/armor, which basically have unique traits that shake up a player’s approach to the gameplay. for the sake of this au i obviously won’t go into the nitty gritty of all that, but i did assign exotics to each team member mostly for aesthetic purposes (i also tried to stick with the animal theme for each of em cause i thought it’d be funny LOL)

and with that i can FINALLY talk about the stars of this au, Fireteam Tortuga :] everyone on the team is a lightbearer except for jimmy (don’t worry, i didn’t for get about him!). basically they all met after helping one another out of a sticky situation on the field (with the exception of the bros, but again i’ll talk about that another time), and ended up sticking together after aviva basically convinced the bros to help out with her field research. i’ll showcase their loadouts/more info about them in another post eventually, so for now, here’s their general overview:

Martin is an Arc Titan! He and Aviva absolutely smoke the Crucible (pvp/guardian vs guardian) when they’re together, but he knows his true calling is out patrolling the wilderness. There’s a running joke between the team members that Martin should’ve been brought back as a Hunter.

Chris is a Solar Hunter who, when he’s not teamed up with Aviva and Koki, is almost always seen on missions with Martin. He tends to stick to the back while Martin frontlines, picking off smaller enemies from hard-to-reach places.

Aviva is a Void Warlock who’s recently been dabbling in Stasis. She absolutely loves experimenting with different gear combinations and tends to rope the bros into the many different tests she wants to try. Unsurprisingly, she dies the most out of the team (which her Ghost enables way too much LOL)

Koki is a Solar Warlock and the primary support of the team. The oldest of the four Lightbearers, Koki first met Aviva and regularly teamed up with her before the two of them met the bros. She mostly operates as the team healer, but she’s capable of fighting like a one-woman army.

Jimmy is a Lightless citizen, but he still works closely with the rest of the Tortuga crew! He originally worked as a Tower mechanic/pilot and hung out regularly with Koki and Aviva. After the bros entered the picture,  he essentially became a member of the fireteam in his own right.

that’s p much what i got so far! feel free to send any asks if you’d like, i’ve got the first inklings of a plot in mind but i’ll prob post that another time lol
