3. Jessica
My call-out average: 3.33
Panel call-out average: 4.67
Jessica was definitely one of the stronger models of the cycle. I think that she had the most consistent portfolio in the bunch, never landing in my bottom 2 until her elimination. She had multiple stand out moments such as her Nude, Faux Fashion, and Black Dress shots. In fact I don’t think she had any truly weak photos at all, although there were a couple that I just found to be somewhat bland. The judges always seemed to undervalue her work other than the weeks where she earned FCOs from them. I am of the opinion that Jessica was the best poser of the cycle and one of the best in ANTM history. She completely blew me away with the variety she gave on-set every week. Her movements were always so effortless and I was especially impressed by her natural ability to leap and still stay in control of everything. Her face was not quite as strong as her body though. I think her features were great for commercial modeling, but high fashion and edge did not come to her quite as easily. Another issue was that her eyes weren’t always as intense as they needed to be. I don’t think her face was ever dead, but she needed to bring it more in a lot of the photoshoots. I did think that she had a good runway walk though, as demonstrated in go-sees. Jessica didn’t have much hope of winning since she was more on the commercial side (even though the cycle prizes were nearly all commercial in nature, but whatever). However, she went home a little too early based on her overall body of work. I didn’t mind Jessica’s personality too much. She was so upbeat and cheerful most of the time without it coming across as fake/over-the-top like Raina. Other than the fight she had with Alasia in the limo and the problematic incident with the confessionals she mostly stayed out of the drama between the groups of Raina/Brenda and Alasia/Angelea. Even when she didn’t care for someone she still gave them credit for doing well in the competition. I just found Jessica to be fairly likable most of the time outside of a few instances.

2. Raina
My call-out average: 3.27
Panel call-out average: 3.9
It’s certainly a tight race for the top spot of Cycle 14! I ended up putting Raina in second because I don’t think she was quite as well-rounded as Krista. The primary reason for that is her walk. While it’s not awful she definitely needed to work on it, mainly her pace and not being so clompy. Her speaking abilities were solid, but I think Krista had her beat in that area as well since Raina sounded a bit over-rehearsed at times. All that being said, Raina had an outstanding portfolio. Other than a couple of disappointing moments (Dance and Ugly-Pretty) her photos were consistently stunning. She had quite a few shining and/or iconic moments, my favorites being her Hair Dress, first CoverGirl shot, Vampire, Black Dress, and of course her mind-blowing Perfume Ad. I gave her 3 FCOs, the most of any girl. Raina’s face is undeniably amazing and the main reason why her portfolio is so terrific. Her features are so striking and translate perfectly onto film. She just born for beauty shots and makeup campaigns, and even in her weakest shots her face still photographed well. Raina’s athletic body wasn’t the best for runway, which was especially apparent at go-sees, but she usually posed well on set and she nearly always looked fabulous on film. Her look was more suited for high fashion editorials but she still could work well with commercial briefs, as shown by both of her CoverGirl shots. Raina would’ve been a completely worthy winner and if she had a stronger runway walk and spokesperson abilities she would be in my number 1 spot without question.
I can’t really say if I liked Raina or not. Her optimistic outlook and general friendly vibe made her endearing to me at first, and it was cool how she never seemed to let anything get to her. However, at times her personality could be a little forced and her constant “Oh My Lanta” exclamations got on my nerves. She acted like she never talked about other girls but when caught red-handed by Alasia during the confessional incident, Raina just immediately put up her fake/friendly facade (and kept up that fake nice facade around everyone but Jessica/Brenda). Overall she wasn’t a perfect angel or anything, but she wasn’t completely unbearable the whole time either so I was pretty indifferent towards her.

4. Alasia
My call-out average: 4.63
Panel call-out average: 5.5
Alasia was sent home a little too early in my opinion. She was so beautiful both in person and in her pictures; I think her face had both commercial and high fashion appeal, plus she had an insane body as well. Alasia was the epitome of “diamond in the rough.” Her first photo was a mess and her second and last photos were boring, but everything else in between was very strong. Alasia showed so much improvement in her pictures and I was astounded by her rapid progress. She basically never left my Top 3 from the third week to the seventh week, and I gave her the same two FCOs that she earned from the judges. Most of her poses were very creative and she usually brought it with her face as well. Similar to Angelea, she could be inconsistent on set though. Sometimes Alasia would work it out, while other times she would be all over the place (in a bad way) or not give nearly enough variety. Even though she sort of face-planted in the first New Zealand photoshoot I think she should been saved over Alex or Angelea based on her previous great performances. Alasia’s runway walk could’ve been amazing with some tweaks, but the over-the-top arms kinda dragged her down. Still, it was undeniably a very distinct runway style! I think that she deserved to last longer than she did and I wish that we could’ve seen more from her. Alasia had the tendency to rub people the wrong way. Her temper had a very short fuse, although I think that most of her blow-ups were justified. Ren telling her to shut the fuck up and Anslee treating her like an idiot and not showing any signs of patience were both times where I was more on Alasia’s side. She was also immature at times, especially when she made the other contestants late for challenges. Still, I think that she was fundamentally a very sweet girl. I really appreciated how much she tried to learn as much as possible and always took the panel’s critiques and used them to improve. I also loved how she was never cocky even when she was the star of the early-middle part of the competition. Overall I found Alasia to be one of the most likable girls of the cycle.

13. Gabrielle
My call-out average: 12
Panel call-out average: 13
Gabrielle lands in the lowest spot by default. Her single photo was very lackluster, and while I thought she had more potential than a few of the girls that outlasted her I don’t have enough material to justify ranking her above anyone else. Gabrielle seemed like a contender coming out of casting week and I was really disappointed that she left so early. I wish she had been given another to chance to prove herself.

1. Krista
My call-out average: 4.18
Panel call-out average: 3.5
I was a big fan of Krista back when Cycle 14 first aired and I still am to this day. I think she’s a worthy title holder because she was pretty much a full package. Her portfolio was very strong as a whole. The main problem was her major inconsistency during the first four weeks, including landing in the bottom spot in my call-out twice. However, from the Faux Fashion shoot onward she performed extremely well and only left my Top 2 on one occasion. The 4 consecutive FCOs at the end may have been a bit excessive (the judges overrated her at times), but there’s no denying that Krista really hit her stride in New Zealand. Her Ugly-Pretty and Black Dress photos are among my favorites of the cycle, and she did very well in the go-sees challenge despite not winning. Admittedly, her CoverGirl print ad was a letdown, but she still did well in every other aspect of the finale. She knew how to be dynamic on set and adapted to every creative thrown at her, plus her overall portfolio was incredibly versatile. I get why people think her face is too harsh, but I thought that she had her angles down and knew how to soften her expressions enough to not appear so severe. Krista, in my opinion, was also the best runway model of the cycle. Her walk was superb and the way she adapted her fierce style to the cutesy Anna Sui final fashion show was really impressive. Since only 2 girls got to do commercials, Krista was the best in that area by default. I know she struggled with memorizing lines, but she was a natural speaker on camera and knew how to model well during the spaces between dialogue. Krista’s well-rounded skill set and massive progression throughout the competition made her a completely deserving winner.
Strangely enough, the more I grew to love Krista as a model the more I started to get annoyed with her personality. I think that the seemingly endless FCOs and challenge wins went to her head quite a bit and the way she constantly said “Yay me!” got old really fast. Besides her cocky moments near the end I generally liked her a lot. She had a lot of humorous confessionals and talking head segments, plus I liked how she usually tried to mediate some of the fights that took place in the house (even if she had some questionable moments/comments herself). I also really appreciated Krista’s determination to succeed and it was awesome to see her do well since she had tried out for the show so many times before Cycle 14.

10. Simone
My call-out average: 7.25
Panel call-out average: 7
Similar to Naduah, I really wanted to love Simone more but she just disappointed me too many times. I thought she had loads of potential: she had a gorgeous commercial face and a great body/proportions. Her first two shots were good but didn’t necessary stand out from the crowd, and she just quickly fell off from there. She was continually stiff week to week and her face was never quite strong enough in her photos to carry her through. Simone’s underwhelming performances combined with the fact that she was one of very few girls in the house that never got involved in any drama made her elimination unsurprising. I do have to give her props for winning the Bluefly go-see though!

12. Ren
My call-out average: 8.67
Panel call-out average: 8.33
Ren was one of my immediate early favorites. I though she had an interesting face and vibe, plus her first picture was stellar. I grew to hate her with every passing minute of screen time she got though. Her next photos were absolute garbage and her walk was pretty weak as well. She constantly bitched about the drama in the house but still instigated it on several occasions. It was pathetic and showed her lack of maturity. Despite Ren’s strong start I think she stayed slightly too long, especially since it seemed like she didn’t even truly want to compete in the first place.

9. Anslee
My call-out average: 6.71
Panel call-out average: 6.43
Anslee made it this high on the strength of her first two photos alone. After her promising start all of her shots were just so bland to me. Her face was her best asset and she was normally strong from the neck up in photos. However, her poses were always so lackluster and she didn’t know how to position herself in way that flattered her body. I also found that she appeared very short both in person and on film despite not being petite, and the makeover they gave her just made her look old. Even with her fantastic face I never thought she was all that modelesque, and her weak walk did her no favors either. Anslee was so annoying to me. She acted like she was so mature and motherly, but her temper was ridiculous and I found her to be abrasive. I know Alasia was slightly out of line in their fight, but Anslee brought it on herself by being overly rude to her in the first place. I felt like she always had an unpleasant demeanor and made a ton of excuses when her performances were weak. Luckily Anslee was pretty defeated after her first bottom 2 appearance and was more subdued for the rest of her time on the show. I found her to be a lot more tolerable after that point.

5. Angelea
My call-out average: 4.5
Panel call-out average: 3.2
I’m going to be honest right off the bat and say that I’m an Angelea fan (at least in this cycle; All-Stars is another story). I think that the judges overrated some of her work but a lot of fans tend to underrate her. I don’t think she was necessarily the most modelesque girl ever, but I loved her strong bone structure and her proportions were great for most clothing. Her portfolio was pretty strong overall and she had a few standout moments such as her CoverGirl, Faux Fashion, and Dance shots. The rest of her pictures were solid, although there were a couple of disappointing ones in the mix (her Perfume, Hair Dress, and Ugly-Pretty shots come to mind). I think she was inconsistent on set at times: on some occasions she would totally rock a shoot, while on others she would look ungainly and awkward, even though she usually pulled off a decent picture. She also had a pretty strong walk, although she usually went overboard when asked to show personality on the runway. I totally have to give Angelea credit for her outstanding showing during the go-sees challenge. 6/6 jobs booked is one of, if not the best record in ANTM go-sees history and that’s one thing I actually thought that the judges didn’t give her enough credit for. I was always under the impression that she was an early pick of Tyra’s to potentially win the competition. However, her quality of work declined from Top 7 week onward. That combined with Krista’s ascension was a major part of why Angelea was eliminated before the finale. I think that Angelea totally earned a place overseas and she was a strong competitor, but Top 4 was a little too far. Angelea’s personality is pretty polarizing, but I didn’t really mind her all that much. I totally understand why people weren’t fans though since she could be abrasive at times. She sort of reminded me of Jade but with a more realistic outlook on her place in the competition. She had many hilarious and memorable moments like the “bitch please look”, her tipsy club walk, her numerous hammer dances, and of course “booked, booked, booked” during go-sees. It was kinda funny how she flat out admitted that it was easy and fun to instigate catfights, but at least she was nothing but honest about it. All in all I thought that Angelea was massively entertaining and was a good addition to the Cycle 14 cast.

6. Alexandra
My call-out average: 5.1
Panel call-out average: 5
I think Cycle 14 got the Top 6 completely right, but Alexandra impressed me the least out of that group. A lot people believe that she should’ve made the finale and/or should’ve gotten every FCO in New Zealand and I really don’t understand either opinion. She’s yet another girl who I wanted to be so much better than she was: she had one of the best plus-sized figures in ANTM history and a classically stunning face too. Everything she put out from Top 13 to Top 7 was mediocre and underwhelming, other than her Perfume and Dance shots which showed some promise. Her Black Dress shot with the sheep was interesting but still one of the weaker pictures that week. Alexandra didn’t fully live up to her potential until she surged during the final two weeks where she delivered her outstanding beauty shot (which was one of my favorites of the cycle) as well as an excellent ugly-pretty shot. However, 2 fabulous shots do not and should not make her a serious contender when the rest of her portfolio was just average. Alexandra wasn’t the best at runway either. Even when I look past her tumbles during the pendulum challenge, her form was not great; her walk was just like Whitney’s in cycle ten with 25% less hip swinging and break-the-floorboards stomping. She did seem to improve as the cycle went on though. The go-sees challenge was another chance for her to stand out but she faltered there as well. I am glad that Alexandra lasted as long as she did so she could have her shining moments, but when I assess her entire body of work this is where I feel like she ends up in relation to the rest of the contestants. Alexandra was someone who I was pretty indifferent towards. She had her fair share of catty moments and comments, especially in the second half of the competition, but no one really ever called her out for it. I did appreciate her competitive nature, but I was never really all that invested in her personality.

7. Brenda
My call-out average: 6.33
Panel call-out average: 6.83
I’m surprised that I’m putting Brenda this high because I absolutely hated her. She was so whiney and irritating, and the way she interacted with certain girls (like Angelea) made her come across as rather racist at times. I was just constantly pissed off whenever she popped up on screen. Onto Brenda’s modeling: I think that she was a bit stronger than a lot of people give her credit for. Her portfolio was rather inconsistent, but I break it down into 1 stellar shot (Nude), 2 good shots (Vampire and Faux), 1 bland shot (CoverGirl), and 2 lackluster shots (Dance and Perfume). I think the strong half of her book slightly outweighs the weak half, and her best shots are stronger than a lot of the high points of any of the girls ranked below her. I think she second-guessed her poses a lot, but her face typically photographed well, if old at times. She also had a great walk from we saw during the runway focused week. I think the makeover totally fucked Brenda up though. Sure, she was plain Jane at first, but the short hair just aged her so much and didn’t suit her at all. Based on Brenda’s overall body of work I may have kept her around a week longer than she lasted, but I was not upset with her 8th place finish since she was fucking annoying as fuck.

8. Tatianna
My call-out average: 6.6
Panel call-out average: 5.8
Tatianna was certainly an eye-catching girl with her tan skin and stunning eyes. Her pictures were consistently just okay for me, never awful but never the standout moment of the week. Technically her body of work would justify moving her a spot or 2 higher in this cycle’s lineup, but I think her original placement was correct for one reason. Tyra constantly mentioned Tatianna having the some of the worst overall film of the week and lucking into one good shot each time and I pretty much agree with that assessment. I’m not sure if she was necessarily the very worst every week, but she struggled on set quite a bit (other than the vampire shoot). If she were more consistent during photoshoots I think she could’ve had a shot at making it overseas. Tatianna barely got any screen time since she was one of the drama-free girls, but I enjoyed her academic mortician persona.

11. Naduah
My call-out average: 9
Panel call-out average: 10.5
I wanted Naduah to be so much better than she was, especially with the amount of experience she came into the competition with. She had a really interesting face and a solid walk, but while neither of her photos were bad I can’t say that they were very good either. Her face never seemed to match what she gave with her body, and her lack of height was also an issue. Still, I think she should’ve lasted a bit longer and she could’ve possibly improved with some coaching/mentoring.
