I don't know if V's fate is the same for every rc route or for every ending but damn...

I am naive and stupid. I have a couple of questions regarding the cancellation of Cyberbang2069 and would like to seek enlightenment.

Does CDPR management have anything to do with the cancellation?

If so (it’s a big if, and every argument below is based on this big if so don’t sue me for libel or anything) -

Did CDPR give out a serious legal warning or just a friendly reminder?

On what ground did they ban the production of 2069?

Is it because certain storylines in 2069 clash with the plot of 2077’s expansions?

Is it because the likeness of Johnny Silverhand/Keanu Reeves can’t be used anywhere else creatively beyond 2077?

Or is CDPR planning to become another Tolkien Estate, banning all sort of fan content other than in-game screenshots?

Assuming CDPR is the one that stops 2069 (again I’m just assuming), it’d be really helpful if they can be transparent about it and remind everyone of the explicit boundary and acceptable extent for fan content so that other creators won’t have to speculate and worry about accidentally treading on the redline and getting shut down halfway after spending in-measurable time and effort making fan art (and essentially promoting CDPR’s own game).

Cyberpunk 2077 is a story-driven single player game without major story updates 1.5 years after launch. Anyone with basic marketing understanding should know that nurturing an active fandom would help sustaining the game’s future prosperity. There are actually people who bought or regained faith in Cyberpunk2077 after playing Cyberbang2069. If creators make quality fan content without financial gain, surely it won’t be a problem? Surely it’s a win-win situation?

Not to mention, permission was granted by CDPR’s PR/marketing Twitter before the production. If the company is this concerned about copyright infringement and whatnot, why couldn’t they align internally and just say no at the beginning?

CDPR should know that fans are not blind followers but customers. You can’t just use them for promotion and sales and cast them away like this. Being sanctioned halfway through a creative process is unimaginably discouraging and the cancellation of 2069 has directly or indirectly led to an exodus of lovely content creators in this fandom. Sometimes I do wonder if CDPR as a company still cares about this.

So I've played the Goro demo from Cyberbang 2069 twice and I just thought I'd share my very positive experience with it. ♥

I haven't done the other romances because I have a one-track mind, but from what I saw of Goro's story, I was very impressed. The artwork and music are beautiful, and I really liked the clean interface--Visually, it feels like a true extension to the game. And the writing is fantastic. Aside from Goro, I was able to interact with Johnny, Misty, and Vik, and their dialog all felt very authentic to their official iterations.

I don't want to spoil anything, but I think anyone who has given any thought to where Goro romance scenes could happen in the game will find the major beats here very satisfying. Familiar, even. Like this was exactly how it should have gone down.

So yeah! It's great. It's fun. And it's free. If you're curious, download it!
