Funny how the worst night of your life would lead you to the best night of your life. Waking up the the blaring sounds of an alarm, you roll over and blindly grab your phone. It couldn't be 7am already can it? You tap on the screen to reveal it's only 2:47am and that sound was not your alarm. It takes you a moment to realize the ear shattering sound is coming from the fire alarm in your kitchen.

Without thinking you fling yourself out of the embrace of the covers only to be met with thick, choking, black smoke. Sputtering you being to cough and eyes filling with tears as you drop to the ground. Crawling to the door on all fours you slowly make your way across the hard vinyl flooring. Again, you mindlessly grab the door handle only to immediately fall backwards onto your back at the searing pain now flowing through your hand. A scream escapes your mouth as you look down, and even in the dark of the room you can see the charred flesh of your hand.

This is it, you think, swallowing hard. This is how you go. Scared and alone in your shitty one bedroom apartment in the same shitty town you were born. They're going to find your body on the morning news, charred and nearly unrecognizable, wearing nothing but an oversized t-shirt and panties. You let out a sob as the tears begin to fall from your eyes, mixing with the soot in the air. The burning only adds to your hysteria. Curling up into the fetal position and rocking back and forth you wait for your end.

Suddenly the door to your bedroom is smashed open, wood chips flying everywhere. You scream again and fling your eyes open. Before you stands a giant, a monster. You let out another scream and begin shuffling backwards to the corner of the room. The large creature begins moving towards you and scoops you up like you were nothing. You'd come to terms with dying and becoming a crisp but not dying to a shadow. Squirming you try to get out of the iron clad grasp holding you bridal style. "I got one, she's alive" a voice comes from the monster. Its not until you're out in the hallway that you finally notice, its not a creature, not a monster, but a man.

Piercing blue eyes look down at you from the inside of a yellow hood, crinkling into a small smile. "It's going to be ok, shhh" the thick British voice says, muffled by the gas mask protecting his face. Gulping and holding back tears, you simply nod before putting your face into his chest.

Cold air hits your thighs as you breach the exit of the apartment complex. A gasp escapes your throat and goosebumps immediately cover your body. A small chuckle escapes the figure holding you. He sets you down on the grass, far out of the reach of the fire engulfing your home. You open your eyes to look upon your savior as he kneels down to remove his mask. When he does, the world seems to move in slow motion like one of those stupid commercials.

He's simply breathtaking, from his perfect blue eyes to the well groomed beard that graces his face. "You alrigh' luv?" he asks, reaching out a gloved hand to your shoulder. His voice shakes you out of your daze, back to the harsh reality that you are half naked on the grass outside the crumbling building you used to live in.

It's such a simple question, but after everything you've just been through, it hits like a ton of bricks and tears begin to well up in your eyes again. "Thank you" you hiccup out between sobs, holding tightly onto the hand on your shoulder. He grabs you and brings you into a tight embrace. The world stops, there's no more yelling, no more burning buildings, no more sirens. Its just you and him.

"Cap? You good?" a voice breaks through your fantasy, and you whip your head around to see yet another beautiful man. This one sporting a mohawk and beautiful hazel eyes. "All good here Soap, go." your savior commands. "Soap?" you croak, a huff of a laugh escaping you. Looking back to the man holding you together, a soft smile crawls upon your lips. "Ha, yeah. Long story. You never answered me luv, you alright?" he asks, pulling away slightly to look you over, suddenly realizing just how exposed you were.

Immediately he takes off his jacket and lays it on you, offering you some small form of coverage. "'M alrigh" you respond, breathless. Truth be told, you were far from alright, but that was all you could muster. The man smiles at you and begins to get up, but before you can think you reach out and pull him back, "please... please don't leave" you whisper. His eyes widen ever so slightly, before he holds you back. "Alrigh' luv I won't leave you, cmon'" he smiles, scooping you back up and taking you to the back of the ambulance.

Setting you down in the back, he readjusts the jacket to cover your lower half before looking back up into your eyes, "Names John" he says. You look up into the eyes of the man who just saved your life, "John" you say, testing out the feeling of his name on your tongue. "That's it luv, don't wear it out now ya 'ear?" he murmurs into your ear before finally untangling himself from you. A small whine escapes your throat at the loss of contact, and a blush rises up your face as you realize that he definitely heard it. He chuckles, "alrigh' love, I need to go back to my team, will you let the paramedics check you out?" he asks, looking deep in your eyes. You swallow thickly and nod, "will you come back?" you whisper, your face growing redder by the second. "Of course, luv" he says before cupping your cheek and smiling. He drops his hand, offering you one last smile before saying, “take good care of her eh Gaz?”. He turns his back and jogs back to the firetruck.

The paramedic begins to check you out, tending to your hand. He’s also good looking; tall, muscular and sporting a baseball cap. You notice he also has a slight accent. As he grabs the gauze to wrap your hand he says, “so you didn’t pay attention in school huh?” The remark catches you off guard and you simply blink in confusion at the man, did he really just ask you that? “You shouldn’t grab metal in a fire” he chuckles, finishing your hand and giving you a pat on the shoulder.

“Guess not huh” you respond sheepishly. Not only were you almost burnt to a crisp but now you’re getting chastised for not remembering elementary school training. “Ah, we all forget things in the moment. You’ll be ight” he smiles, placing his med kit back in the ambulance. You look down at the jacket covering your bare legs, it reads in all caps “PRICE”. John Price.

Johns smiling face rounds the corner just as Gaz finishes cleaning up, “how she lookin’ kid?” he asks, looking at you. “Ah she’ll be ight cap” Gaz responds, taking the unspoken hint to slip away and leave you two alone. You absentmindedly flex your hand, the feeling of the gauze on your hand unfamiliar and coarse.

“You alright sweetheart?” John kneels to be closer to your height, his eyes looking deep into yours. “Much better now. I don’t think I’ll ever forget to not touch metal” you laugh weakly. His laugh surprises you, deep and rich. The wrinkles by his eyes deepen as he laughs.

Now that the immediate threat of dying was over, you began to notice just how attractive John was. His muscles rippling underneath the tight long sleeve made your head spin. Or maybe it was the smoke inhalation. You could make out the salt and pepper greys in his beard and hair. And to top it all off, his beautiful blue eyes. You could get lost in them, you were lost in them.

A hand waves itself infront of your face and snaps you back to reality. You’d been caught and you blushed feverishly. “Luv?” John asked, “I asked ya a question.” “Oh ah uh. Sorry. Adrenaline” you answer, eyes darting to the concrete below, trying desperately to hide your face. “I asked if you got somewhere to stay?” He questions again. “Oh. Uhm. Yeah I can get a hotel.” You say, not quite sure how you’ll afford it but you really don’t have any option. “Well then, we’ll take ya” John smiles, holding out his hand.

You grab his hand and move his jacket so it’s resting on your shoulders. He leads you back to the fire truck where the rest of his crew is waiting. “Cap?” A man in a balaclava asks. “Were just taking.. hmm didn’t catch your name luv” John looks over to you. “Oh it’s Y/N” you say, blushing once again. “Beautiful. We’re dropping Y/N off a hotel” John states, recieving nods from his crew.

The ride there is quiet, John driving, the smell of smoke suffocating the cab of the truck. All the men looked exhausted, the one they called soap dozing off. But the man in the balaclava never took his eyes off you, never waivered. You found him odd, his stare unsettling you a bit.

When you finally make it to a hotel Soap wakes and opens the door for you, where John is waiting to help you down. He leads you into the lobby and before you can speak he says “one room for the lady please” to the receptionist. The woman behind the desk smiles and says, “sure thing John” before sliding him a key.

“But wait- I need to pay!” You exclaim. John simply laughs and extends his hand out again to lead you to your room. “No need to worry luv, this is on me” he smiles. You could get lost forever in that smile, would do anything to get to see it. The walk to your room seeming all too short, he drops your hand to unlock the door and holds it open for you.

“Get some rest alright?” He says, looking down at you. All the adrenaline has evaporated from your body and all you can think about is how comfortable that bed looks. You look up to him and whisper, “thank you.” He smiles again, before gesturing you inside. “Sleep well, luv’” he murmurs before closing the door and leaving you in the darkness of the hotel room.

You don’t even remember crawling into bed or even falling asleep. When you wake, you’re comfortably in bed still in John Prices jacket.

Heyo apart from me starkly disagreeing with ur beefleaf hate post, I'm honestly mostly bothered by u tagging it with beefleaf/not censoring the name.

It appeared in the main tag while I was scrolling it, because i rlly love bflf, and I'd appreciate it if u could keep hate out of the tag!!! Its made for ship content, nto hate on the ship.

Okay, first, thank you for your input.

I will add more tags so that it will make clear that my post is not about positive content about beefleaf.

Then I'll also add more warning in the beginning of my post, so that readers can expect what they are about to read and shippers who don't want to see any negativity about beefleaf may simply skip it.

And about the canon things that I said, it seems you also didn't read my post to the end (maybe you got emotional first hmm), my canon breakdown serves as a starting base for understanding beefleaf, but if you get to the section "How can ‘beefleaf’ work better?" in my post, that's also the part where I started ignoring canon, that even though He Xuan had been straight in flashbacks, it is still possible that he's starting regret some of his action & care for Shi Qingxuan.

My canon breakdown for that post is like; "oh so the truth is that, but we can bend it like this".

Lastly, hate posting & rant posting may sounds similar but not the same. You need to read the content to fully understand, but 'hate posting' doesn't contain any positivity to back up the negativity whereas 'rant' is more personal about what you have in mind, yet not necessarily being all negative.

It might be a kit car design and they have a prototyper too but if you think the panels off and then hold on and we are off all the quarter panels. Remove the doors and with the rear quarter when you take it out and take off the quarter window and you have a new quarter panel.

Ok so there's a few components, lemme see if I can piece together what's what

Number 1 we got incomplete added tensing of vocal folds. The effect of this is multipart, including constricting airflow when talking (making it more awkward to take breaths while speaking and making those that do shorter, sharper, and more often than usual through the nose during speech and through mouth during breaks), raising your voice pitch higher than it would be if your voice relaxed (raised by something like a quarter or half step, making the ratios of pitches in your speech be more approximated than usual), and making it harder to cross the minimum threshold for your voice to activate when you begin a breath (making it harder to vary the beats more as you speak and making you speak with fewer rests)

Then we also got stuff like 2 beats of rest instead of the usual 1 when responding to direct but untargeted questions. The significance of this is that it's a delay between someone talking about something relevant to you, and you realizing they want your input, and it's basically the Hallmark of "family trauma" rhythms. They all build off of it. Here's kinda how it plays out, using ' to mark whenever a new beat starts and ` to mark when a half beat starts:

Here's what the ""default"" looks like (big quotes cuz it's really more like one of a handful of templates that people build from)

Notice how the question always ends with a beat of rest? That's part of how English speakers typically say questions in general, and it acts as a form of padding that makes it easier for the next person to speak to continue from there because it's a place for the one beat of rest at the start of responses to go. There's also a whole bunch of other stuff like how the question and answer have the same first measure (aka first four beats) but that's whole other thing. Anyway that's one beat of rest, with two it looks like this:

'hey 'bud '' 'how 'are 'you '?

' 'Im 'good '` 'yo'u`'?

Notice how there's a beat before the response starts? That's what we're focusing on, and as a result of it, the rest of the sentence has the rhythm thrown off and made more complex in order to allow it to catch up with the end of the second measure.

So far we have a physical change in resting state that indicates anxious thoughts, coupled with a rhythm that indicates that one's input wasn't valued as a child, and we've already pretty clearly got a pattern that indicates "anxious thoughts about one's input not being valued". The last part is about uncertainty of affection that I'm not gonna get into. Add in that, and you get "anxious about uncertainty of love or self worth that is related to one's input not being valued"

Trans girls are more likely to figure out their gender if they have family trauma because family trauma removes a lot of the positive associations people have for their assigned gender. Folks with family trauma who were raised to really strongly believe in self-sacrifice as a proof of something/solution to problem can often end up unknowingly believing that they're supposed to do that in order to have value, but also can't exactly go out and say that cuz, ya know, dying is bad.

There's more but that's the best I can explain right now. Make sense, kinda maybe?

Hmm... my take is quite simple but I gotta give you some exposition to set it up, so here's how my thought process goes:

HOW is set in 2005 & the twins were born 1974 (Lester born '79 because he's five years younger than the twins), and Ambrose hadn't had the sugar mill for a decade when the film was set, which means that the town closed/the brothers began to carry on what Momma started in 1995.

So that means; 1995 - 1974 = 21

The twins began their murderous... hobby (???) when they were 21 & that means sweet Lester started to help them out by luring in victims when he was 16 (1995 - 1979).

Brian said that Bo was making up the story about Trudy having a cyst in her brain & Victor committing suicide when he couldn't save her and I'm inclined to agree with him; Bo has a lot of fun trying to get Carly and Wade to relax in Ambrose.

So exposition done, 21 year olds Bo and Vincent decide that enough is enough. They pick a parent each; Vincent picks Trudy because he wants to get revenge on her for what she put himself and his brothers through (but if Bo asks, Vincent is 100% honest and tells him that he did it for Bo; he suffered the worst of the abuse at the hands of Trudy, though of course all three brothers were neglected/mistreated/abused etc. and Vincent wants her to receive her comeuppance).

I'm not sure how Vincent would have killed her; at 21, they were very new to killing but very familiar with rage, so he probably killed her with a very swift, very deliberate flash of a scalpel (he didn't have his twin blades yet, they come later with confidence) or some other instrument from Victor's office.

And Bo... oh, Bo. Bo wants to take power back from daddy, so Bo takes his head right off with a well aimed shotgun. His hands didn't shake, his jaw didn't tremble, his baby blues were icy as he looked daddy straight in the eyes and told him to say hi to momma in hell, 'cuz there ain't no way they're goin' up; Bo is sure as shit 'bout that.

Lester didn't have anything to do with his parents' actual deaths. At 16, he's far too fucking young and the twins wanted to protect Lester from seeing it. He only finds out when they're dead and the evidence of the murders has been removed and arranged into a nice alibi

(i.e. Trudy is encased in wax and positioned in the church to dry out and stabilise at her forever funeral & Victor is... disassembled and buried in various parts on the outskirts of town; some of him ends up in the roadkill pit which Lester had already started working on by then. He had to start young to try to support the way he wanted to get away from Ambrose (he never would or could; he loves his brothers and he's involved in all of it just as much as they are).

Bo and Vincent evaded the truth with Lester and maybe even gave him the same story which Carly and Wade hear from Bo in 2005; it seems a bit rehearsed even though he's fucking around according to Brian. Lester has always suspected the truth, but he knows not to ask questions he doesn't want the answer to.

i'm so glad ian jq confirmed that the diamonds aren't redeemed and haven't changed at all, i'm so tired of your takes and its good to see that canon is actually behind me. they're bad and not redeemed. steven was manipulating them and theyre never gonna get better :)

right, i forgot liking a tweet, which people do from a myriad of reasons - from an ex-crew member who did not work on (most of) s5 - outweighs everything said,  done, and expressed by the creator and synthesis of the crew as a whole.

i guess it also outweighs the show itself, which is so far-removed from steven “manipulating” them that it’s almost farcical. steven is completely upfront with them - he tells them he’s not pink, and he wants them to help the corrupted gems. which the diamonds do, for plenty of reasons. it’s not just because they want to hang out with ‘pink’. white wasn’t even there for that suggestion.

if you know how to read tone and body language, you could tell that’s not something steven said to be sly. that’s something he earnestly felt in the moment. it’s hard to manipulate people after you’ve already said you want their help, they already agreed, and you didn’t suggest hanging out until way later.

like… the show is subtle at times, yes. but it’s not impossible to tell whether someone’s lying or expressing their genuine feelings.

but yeah, sure. let’s throw all of that out the window, because youtube and tumblr are persistently horny to be validated to say Diamonds Bad / SU doesn’t Actually forgive. thank you for showing me the light. i am forever grateful /s.

i guess because of this, we’ve also gotta take every piece of ship art from every crew member as Forever Canon, even if RS hasn’t expressed approval, and none of those sentiments have actually made it into the show. anything a crew member *likes* is now canon. so i guess lapidot, amedot and pearlmethyst are all canon, that’s gonna delight and irritate a lot of people. oh and lapis has also been getting it on with jasper in secret, that’s Really gonna upset people, but there’s nothing we can do about it! someone clicked ‘like’, so i guess that must reflect the Crew Consensus of Canon!

i guess the only “real” problem is, that’s gonna make this “diamonds bad” take really contradictory in a world where this also exists:

so, uh… have fun figuring that one out.

this is a matter of interpretation, but if you really think every tweet liked by one of the crew’s members is canon, rather than canon being created by both the synthesis of crew discussion & the final word belonging to rebecca sugar, then… maybe consider that you’re cherrypicking. also, it could be a distinction between being “in the process” of evolving vs having “already” evolved. or just not thought through, because again, it’s just liking a tweet. defending a thing you used to work on. which is Very easy to do.

one thing i do know is, i highly doubt it was saying the diamonds are irredeemable. or that SU is less forgiving than you think. there’s a mild distinction in the tweet even i agree with, which is between “steven also had his own reasons” vs “steven did it Only because he wanted to be their friend” - the latter of which is false. he wanted to heal corrupted gems.

but that doesn’t mean the diamonds aren’t evolving. they are.

steven literally acknowledges that himself - “you guys have really gotten better at showing affection” is textual confirmation that they have changed. they can be imperfect and still make an effort to become better people.

“change your mind” was called that for a reason. much like spinel, white diamond internally realizes she was wrong, and works to change. that’s reinforced by the newly released “the tale of steven” book by rebecca sugar, aka the person who ian himself has said is the true arbiter of canon.

like. it’s very “for the kids at home”, so… here’s white, indeed realizing she was wrong, and spelling it out for you:

at their lowest point, steven always tries to be compassionate towards the diamonds. he doesn’t leave anyone in despair after their “was i wrong all along?” realization. he offers them hope, empathy and cooperation.

in that scenario, i really don’t care whether or not you wanna strictly define that as “redemption”. some people use that term way stricter than others. what i care about is whether the characters are given A) hope, B) change, and C) a happier ending than is traditional for a ‘villain’.

whether or not you think they’re fully redeemed or just trying to change… to me, that’s a distinction without a thematic difference. the overarching story remains the same - the diamonds are going to be fine. they’re trying to be better, and their current actions are having positive effects. that’s good.

in the movie, steven leaves homeworld because he wants to live peacefully after saving the galaxy. he was being smothered by the other diamonds, yes, but he’s didn’t go cuz he was secretly punking them the whole time. & he’s the one who needs to learn he’s not entitled to a “happily ever after”. he can’t leave anyone behind. steven has to keep trying every day, to help as many people as possible. everything will keep changing, including people around him.

so… in that spirit, if the diamonds aren’t fully redeemed, then neither are anyone. you gotta keep growing to be your best self.

matt burnett - one of the head writers throughout all five seasons, and whose words have been reflected both by the show and by RS herself - said it best: there are no strict heroes or villains in this show. everyone are much more complicated than that.

We're taking John remillard to court this morning and a lot of people are yes. And of course we want him gone but the court is probably just going to slap him with penalties fines and a jail sentence and the court will probably bring criminal charges for 90% of what he's doing it is criminal activity. And he's a bum and doesn't belong here and he's held back doing the lawn next door doesn't belong there stand is trying to evict him from there too and the idiot just sits there grinning and not paying his rent so Stan is going to court today and finally papers against him and he should cuz he's that guy isn't a dick and a complete a****** and he's going to file for possession going to be quite a show cuz he wants to say stuff.
