Roy Kent as a character is so dark and angry and mysterious, but virtually every time we see him he's engaged in some quirky B plot involving his cherubic niece or adorable girlfriend or something. Like a gritty tormented action hero sipping rosé with yoga mums and coaching little girls' soccer teams and swearing on TV. Conversely Jamie Tartt is a goofy ditzy popular jock type perfectly suited to Todd-Chavez-esque misadventures, yet every time we spotlight on Jamie it's to explore his horrific past and the effects of prolonged child abuse on the adult psyche. Which is why when you combine them, you get a weird mix of both, like in Amsterdam
