some grier talk i had with @scarletrebel the other day
i wanted to put it somewhere so i can remember it
pinstripe-doodles: I’ve been trying to delve more into how Grier’s more negative side would uh come out I suppose? It’s especially noticeable after the events of the red war where Grier’s more melancholic side comes out. There’s a deep hunger for knowledge (and perhaps power? Giving that he views himself as being weak and cowardly) in Grier ( that Toland would def be able to pick up on I imagine. They're very alike in that way.) When he gets in a depressed/melancholy state he’s far more prone to...outbursts? of bitterness and uncaring. ( I think he’d also struggle a lot with valuing knowledge and science over safety of himself and others ? idk haha)
At his core Grier's a scientist - a researcher, knowledge is what he strives for, the only thing keeping him going. It’s what he has done all of his revived life and the one thing he can fall back to. He loves Avia and Carver and Rook and the others but he feels they don't understand- they'd never be able to. Carver’s the closest perhaps but he has his family as well. Avia has Rook. Eve, her faith. All Grier feels he has in the end is his work.
scarletrebel: i think grier feels that quite strongly, even though he isnt cowardly he feels like he is so he hides behind research and yknow, there goes grier, obsessed with the hive
pinstripe-doodles: I feel grier’s inner sadness is part of why he and Asher get along so well they sorta understand each others sadness quite well Different beginnings same ending in a way
scarletrebel: yeah i think asher was a lot more reserved and lonely in his youth (tm) which is why he doesnt glance twice at the idea of grier having any of those demons but when it clicks its easy for them to get along
and correct me if im wrong but grier tries his hardest not to do that but when he gets really badly depressed and when things seem bleak he just kind of bitterly does it anyway because thats who he is, or how he perceives himself
pinstripe-doodles: yeah exactly ! most of the time hes fine a happy, his friends keep him occupied and out of his own head, but when hes alone or when he just feels the sadness creep upon him, he doesnt really know how to stop himself from falling into that state
( plus hes not really one to....go out and ask for help on stuff like this he doesnt wanna bother anyone ) feels hed just bring everyone down so hed just lock himself away or go out on his own yknow?

We’re Okay
Request: could you make an Hayes Grier imagine where you & him get into a car accident? i'm not sure how i want it to end so, surprise me.😂 i am so in love with your blog btw😍
a/n; tbh I don’t think I’m that great at writing car crash imagines but you all seem to like them soooo
Word Count: 755
Pairing: Hayes Grier X Reader
Y/N’s P.O.V
“Hayes.” I laughed under my breath at the stupid joke he just told, “do you even know how to get there?” I asked, pulling my phone out of my purse to look up directions, “no.” He mumbled glancing at me, I shook my head with a small smile as my phone took forever to load.
I looked up and saw a car, not very far away, that was driving horribly. It started picking up speed. “Hayes!” I shrieked when it came into our lane right in front of us, Hayes yanked the steering wheel in the other direction, the car going off the edge of the road. It’s like time slowed down as we rolled down the hill, I waited a second before moving once we stopped.
“Hayes.” I gasped, realizing what happened, I looked over and saw him passed out, “Hayes!” I panicked, reaching over but my seat belt locked up and I couldn’t go any further. My phone was thrown onto the dashboard and I couldn’t reach it, “help!” I yelled as loud as possible, not having any other options.
I tried opening the door but it was bent inwards, “come on!” I yelled, shaking the door as hard as I could, even though it wasn’t budging. My head snapped towards Hayes when he came to with a gasp for air. “Hayes!” He looked over at me slowly, still out of sorts. “Baby, are you okay?” I asked, forgetting about the door, I looked him over and his leg was definitely broken.
I heard someone rushing down the hill, “are you guys okay?” A total stranger asked, looking back up the hill, “I think so.” I answered, Hayes still seemed loopy, which was scaring me. “The ambulance is coming.” The guy told us, the sirens faintly being heard in the distance. “Hey, man. Stay awake.” He demanded, shaking Hayes by the shoulder. Hayes groaned but was trying to keep his eyes open.
“Down here!” The man shouted moving back as the paramedics came down the hill, “sir, can you tell me your name?” They started asking Hayes a bunch of questions, while another started talking to me. “Have you lost consciousness?” A paramedic asked, pulling on the door, I heard more sirens, signaling the fire truck has arrived, most likely here to cut the door off. My head whipped around when I heard Hayes’ door finally get yanked open, they instantly started getting him out of the car. “Ma’am, have you lost consciousness?” He asked again, “no.” I finally answered, watching as he stepped back, a fireman instructing me to get as far away from the door as I could, I leaned over but my seat belt wouldn’t come off so I wasn’t able to go far.
I covered my face with my hands as he started the saw, going down the hinges of the door. I peeked through my fingers and saw Hayes getting loaded onto the stretched before they rushed to get him into the ambulance. I felt my seat belt getting tugged before it was released. I looked back and saw they had cut it off. The paramedic helped me get out of the car and up the hill, the first ambulance had already drove off with Hayes in it. But I never got a chance to worry because I was being distracted by questions and having myself looked over.

“Hayes.” I breathed out in relief, seven hours, I had to wait seven hours until I could get a nurse to wheel me to his room. She locked my chair and told me not to get up, but still left me there to have some privacy. “Hey.” Hayes, lazily smiled at me, starting to return to his normal self. “What’s the damage?” He asked, looking himself over, I leaned as far as I could and read the nurse’s notes that we’re sitting on the table. “Broken leg, concussion, bruised ribs and one broken finger.” I read off the paper to him, sighing when I realized how much worse he got hurt compared to me.
“What about you? Are you okay?” He asked, finally seeming more normal since he was alert when he asked this. He looked at me in the wheelchair and frowned, “I broke my wrist, and sprained my ankle. Aside from that I’ll probably just be sore and bruised for a few weeks.” I explained to him, he reached for my hand, that didn’t have a cast on it of course.
“We’re okay.” He sighed, sounding relieved.
