been thinking lately about how my perception of the evolution of technology from starting with a big clunky family computer when i was ~7 to what we have now has been a bit skewed, and am realizing it's because i've just blocked out a lot of pre-college memories in general which makes me just think about what i've had during college and afterwards as what i consider to be the "standard" of technology that people had growing up

Myshuno Fixes

Now that we have a bingo default that makes its appearance more usable, I thought it would be nice to have the game function properly too 🙃

The main issue with the unmodded version of this object is: 1) it fills your sim's whole fun bar within an in-game hour 2) sims quit the game after reaching max fun

This basically means that full games never occur. Sims appear indecisive about using the object too as they still might join playing when their fun bar is close to max, only to quit almost instantly.

This mod fixes these problems and improves various other aspects of the Myshuno game:

Players don't need to sit facing the bingo console anymore*

The fun gain from playing the game is greatly lower, elders still gain more fun from playing but the increase is moderate

Sims will only quit mid-game for a pressing reason (usually due to other motives dropping or the interaction being canceled)

Players sitting in dining booths no longer cause errors

Players sitting on dining chairs next to tables no longer stop the game from progressing

The advertising of all interactions is lower

The 'practice' interaction is not autonomous anymore

The caller winning anim is revamped so that it doesn't clip with dresses and works better with PF's default

*Sims use a new custom routing for finding a place to play. Playing is possible from chairs, barstools, armchairs, sofas, and dining booths located in the same room as the bingo console and within 10 tiles from it. Sims will choose a free seat close to the console unless their personality is on the shyer end, in which case they look for free seats far away from the console. Sims will stand if no seating is available.

🚨 This mod doesn't work with Myshuno replacements that include custom BHAVs for it. PF's default (obviously) is compatible.

Update (22.12.2024): The tweaks in advertising now apply to non-adult age groups as well.

it is difficult to not look around constantly to see if something looks off. there are examples of people's artistic choices or skill levels being mistaken for ai, when sometimes it was just an artist avoiding drawing hands. when ai tools became popular it was fascinating and fun for me to try out and think of how i could integrate them into my cc. while i wasn't planning on using it for all my future cc, i also wasn't aware of how fast ai would become so prominent in all kinds of media. in previous projects i used different techniques to create art for my custom content, like altering copyright free images or photography and i also used my own illustrations, but i never found a workflow that i could stick to or completely satisfied with my results, so i really wanted to give the new image generators a chance. between stylistic choices, different perception or visualization of light, perspective, colour, proportion, as well as the skill level or post editing effects, there are many other factors that can result in interesting art style, that we can appreciate even if an artist isn't as experienced or has the knowledge that computers do. but still, it will rarely be as irritating for the eyes, as what the off-putting ai generated look and feel some of those images have. ironically i still find the weird compositions and funky shapes that often come with ai art actually quite fitting with the maxis art style as well as the simlish language and script, but as genAI art is all around us now and the generated content becomes so overbearing, i don't want to have generated imagery on my custom content anymore. currently, the frame tv is still bugged due to a recent patch which broke the compatibility with custom content tv's and the gaming consoles. unfortunately the batch fix in sims 4 studio only seems to work for regular tv's, but not the wall mounted ones, so i was stuck on trying to fix it manually but that didn't work out for me either. therefor i will have to re-do the whole object anyway which goes hand in hand with the retexturing of the screen. i'll happily take suggestions and requests for this update from you! :)

◾️It all started with the fact that I wanted to make an animated short that would take place in Skid's room.

◾️But then I realized that we don't have the full design of his room, so I made my own version based on what we have at the moment.

◾️All I could work with was a couple of scenes from the first episode. And the room in these scenes was very sparsely decorated.

(I would add screenshots, but Tumblr didn't like it the last five times for some crazy reason)

◾️Perhaps depiction of Skid's room from ep1 is no longer relevant, but based on it, I believe that Lila buys everything Skid needs for comfort and entertainment (he has a computer and a TV with a game console in his room, like damn).

◾️But, unlike Pump's room, in which absolutely everything is pumpkin themed, Skid's room remains simple in terms of furniture, as custom furniture is much more expensive. So Lila buys only toys and decorations for Skid in connection with his interests.

◾️So let's unpack what I did here:

• ceiling fan and wooden floor, like in Lila's room.

• there is no big light (due to my headcanon that Skid doesn't like using it in his room, so Lila unscrewed the light bulb altogether).

• the couch is now a fold-out one (and it's usually in an unfolded state).

• the pillows are orange, referring to Pump, who has purple pillows in his room.

• the computer's CPU is now under the table.

• glowing stars on the ceiling.

• pumpkin-shaped headphones, taken from the 4th Episode's OST video. Pump has skull-shaped headphones.

• a few posters: two of them were in ep1, one was added by me.

• there is a Nintendo GameCube under the TV, since in ep1 SnP played, I think, "Luigi's Mansion", which was released on this console.

• a drawer for toys and a carpet near it as a "play area".

• the toys are random toys that appear in the episodes.

• Skid's drawings and his height marks on a wall.

• a wall lamp by the door instead of a big light (headcanon: Lila also uses it when she checks on Skid at night).

◾️I could have done a better job of showing how Skid is a little messy, judging by the look of his room in ep1, or adding more decor, but damn...

◾️It's hard to decorate a room for a character with whom your mentality is not similar. And I also have a limited interest in media, so this was also a problem during the decoration.

◾️Maybe in the future I'll figure out what else I can add to Skid's room.
