Rift Cut White Oak Cabinets: Why You’d Want Them and Their Great Benefits When it comes to selecting cabinetry for your home, the choices can feel overwhelming. With various styles, materials, and finishes available, it’s essential to choose something that aligns with your aesthetic preferences and functional needs. Among the many options, rift cut white oak cabinets stand out as a popular choice among homeowners and designers alike. This blog will explore the advantages of rift cut white oak cabinets, their unique characteristics, and why they might be the perfect addition to your home. Introduction Rift cut white oak cabinets are an exceptional choice for homeowners looking to blend durability with style. The rift cutting technique not only enhances the wood’s natural beauty but also provides a clean and contemporary look that complements various interior designs. This article will delve into the key features of rift cut white oak cabinets and outline why you would want them in your home. What Are Rift Cut White Oak Cabinets? Rift cut white oak cabinets are crafted from white oak wood that has been sliced at a specific angle. This method of cutting results in a uniform grain pattern, which is visually appealing and helps to minimize the characteristic rays and knots found in quarter-sawn oak. The resulting straight grain pattern provides a modern and refined appearance that works well in contemporary and transitional spaces. Rift cut white oak is renowned for its durability, making it an excellent choice for cabinetry. This hardwood is naturally resistant to wear and tear, which means your cabinets will maintain their beauty and functionality over time. Furthermore, rift cut white oak can be finished in various stains and paints, allowing homeowners to customize their cabinetry to match their unique styles. The Advantages of Rift Cut White Oak Cabinets
Aesthetic Appeal One of the most significant reasons to consider rift cut white oak cabinets is their aesthetic appeal. The straight grain pattern created by the rift cutting technique provides a clean, modern look that fits seamlessly into any kitchen or bathroom design. Whether your style leans toward minimalism, contemporary, or even traditional, rift cut white oak cabinets can enhance your space with their elegance. Additionally, the wood’s natural color can range from light to medium brown, giving it versatility when paired with other materials and finishes. Homeowners can choose to leave the wood in its natural state, opt for a clear finish that highlights its beauty, or select a stain that complements their overall color scheme.
Durability and Longevity Another compelling reason to invest in rift cut white oak cabinets is their durability. White oak is known for its strength and resilience, making it an ideal choice for cabinetry that will withstand the rigors of daily use. This wood is less prone to warping and cracking than softer woods, ensuring that your cabinets maintain their structural integrity for years to come. In addition to its physical strength, rift cut white oak is also resistant to moisture and decay, making it suitable for use in kitchens and bathrooms where humidity can be a concern. By choosing rift cut white oak cabinets, you are making a long-term investment in your home’s functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Versatility in Design Rift cut white oak cabinets offer remarkable versatility in design. Their clean lines and understated elegance make them suitable for a wide range of styles, from sleek modern kitchens to warm, rustic spaces. Homeowners can mix and match rift cut white oak cabinets with various countertops, backsplashes, and hardware to create a cohesive look that reflects their personal style. Moreover, these cabinets can be utilized in various spaces beyond the kitchen. They work wonderfully in bathrooms, laundry rooms, and even living areas, allowing for a consistent design language throughout your home. The adaptability of rift cut white oak cabinets means that they can easily transition from one design style to another, making them a timeless choice.
Sustainability For environmentally conscious homeowners, rift cut white oak cabinets present a sustainable choice. White oak is a readily available species, and responsible sourcing ensures that the wood is harvested from sustainable forests. Many manufacturers adhere to eco-friendly practices, which helps minimize the environmental impact associated with cabinetry production. By choosing rift cut white oak, you are not only selecting a beautiful and durable material but also supporting sustainable practices that benefit the planet. This commitment to sustainability resonates with many homeowners today who are looking to make environmentally friendly choices in their homes.
Easy Maintenance Maintaining the beauty of rift cut white oak cabinets is relatively simple, making them a practical choice for busy homeowners. Regular cleaning with a damp cloth and mild soap is typically sufficient to keep the cabinets looking their best. The smooth surface of rift cut oak minimizes the buildup of dust and grime, reducing the need for extensive cleaning. When it comes to maintaining the finish, occasional touch-ups may be needed, especially in high-traffic areas. A quality finish protects the wood from scratches and stains, ensuring that your cabinets remain in excellent condition for years. This ease of maintenance adds to the overall appeal of rift cut white oak cabinets, as they allow homeowners to enjoy their beauty without the burden of complicated upkeep.
Increased Home Value Investing in high-quality cabinetry can significantly increase the value of your home. Rift cut white oak cabinets are a premium choice that can elevate the overall look and feel of your spaces. When potential buyers see well-crafted cabinetry, they often perceive the home as being of higher quality, which can translate to a better resale value. In today’s real estate market, kitchens and bathrooms are key selling points. By outfitting these spaces with rift cut white oak cabinets, you not only enhance your living experience but also position your home favorably when it comes time to sell. The timeless elegance and durability of these cabinets are qualities that buyers appreciate, making them a worthwhile investment. Conclusion In summary, rift cut white oak cabinets are an exceptional choice for homeowners seeking a blend of beauty, durability, and versatility. Their aesthetic appeal, strength, and ease of maintenance make them suitable for a variety of design styles and spaces. Additionally, the sustainable nature of this wood and its ability to enhance the value of your home further solidify its place as a top choice for cabinetry. If you are considering a kitchen or bathroom remodel, rift cut white oak cabinets could be the perfect solution to meet your functional and aesthetic needs. With their timeless elegance and lasting quality, these cabinets are sure to bring joy and value to your home for many years to come.

A Yellow Moroccan Tile Backsplash Basks in a New Kitchen
An entertainment-focused kitchen preps with bright lights, bigger storage, and more dining space
Photos by Miao Jiaxin for Sweeten
Before: Improve placement and impersonal lighting
The kitchen in Dawn and David’s loft apartment was not ideally configured. After living in the home for a dozen years, the pair decided to finally redo the kitchen. The cabinets had seen a lot of wear and tear, and appliances and drawers were not in the best positions.
The couple also wanted to fix a prior renovation mistake: a contractor had convinced them to go with recessed lighting in the kitchen and living room areas. Dawn found the choice too commercial and wanted to find statement pendants with a bit more character. The couple also wanted to add personal touches, like a Moroccan-style tile backsplash. After posting their project to Sweeten and interviewing several contractors, they chose this Sweeten design-build firm.
After: Make the kitchen’s storage function smarter
The goal was to borrow square footage from the kitchen to give more breathing room to the dining and living room areas. They’d create more kitchen counter space and cabinet storage but within a smaller footprint. An efficient layout would be key. She said, “We wanted to get the most out of each nook and cranny while not ending up with a lot of nooks and crannies!”
Given their penchant for entertaining, large serving pieces and other odd-shaped items needed specific spots. To accomplish this, Dawn “spent a lot of time measuring the things that’d go into storage and were plotted out correctly in the kitchen. I was careful not to over-allocate space.”
The peninsula becomes multifunctional
An expanded peninsula with drawers on either side—facing the kitchen as well as the entryway—was a key part of executing this vision. Dawn wanted “tons of room for prepping and cooking a meal as well as serving space for hors d’oeuvres when we entertain. People like to congregate in the kitchen when they arrive. I wanted to have a space that didn’t interfere with the process of making dinner. With a much bigger peninsula, we confine the prep/cooking work to one half of the surface while making room for an attractive presentation on the other.”
Planning out placement
They created dedicated space for serving trays and her largest pots. A good deal of thought went into the best placement of appliances and cabinets; the utensil drawer faces the dishwasher, while the speed oven is hidden in the peninsula keeping the countertops clear.
Dawn also worked with her Sweeten contractor to add a full-length pantry that had both interior drawers and shelves. A spice rack mounted at eye level sits inside of the door.
For the finishes, Dawn, the founder and CEO of Arcadia Home, an artisan-made home accessories brand, had a vision: “grainy flat-paneled cabinets, beautiful organic pulls, extraordinary color in the backsplash, killer lighting, and a fairly clean white but interesting countertop.” The centerpiece of the entire kitchen was the yellow Moroccan tile, inspired by a yellow Moroccan rug in the couple’s living room—a purchase from their first trip together during their dating days. “It makes us happy every day,” she said.
Bonus: The lighting redesign also transformed the look of the space. Now, the peninsula sports two handmade pierced nickel-plated brass shades from Egypt. The light from the pierced holes creates a unique pattern when illuminated.

Interior designer Amelia Hesketh, founder of Frank Designs, recalls inspecting this mid-century house for sale in Lindfield (on Sydney’s Upper North Shore) seven years ago. ‘It was obvious that most people saw it as a knockdown and rebuild (as happens far too often with these houses), but we could only see potential,’ she says.
Thankfully, the interior designer and her husband Oliver Hesketh were able to buy the property, becoming only the second owners in its history. They share the home with their three children, Will (11), Ruby (9), and Poppy (7).
The house was built in 1969 and designed by architect Bill Baker, (the same architect as Tim Ross’ house!) ‘Bill flew in the air force during WWII and was influenced by the American architecture. When he returned he enrolled in architecture school, then worked as an architect and a Qantas pilot,’ says Amelia.
The house was in near original state at the time of purchasing, complete with the architectural plans found in the back of a desk drawer! While the couple loved its mid-century features, the property was run down and was soon in need of an update. ‘All the original cedar wall panelling was falling off… Bathroom tiles were coming away, and the floor joists in the girl’s bedroom were rotten from the roof leaking into the wall cavity,’ says Amelia. ‘They used to jump on the floor and use it like a trampoline!
Energy efficiency was also an issue that needed addressing. ‘The house didn’t have an ounce of insulation, and all the windows were pane glass, with the frames having been eaten away by termites,’ Amelia says. ‘One night, while lying in bed, our master bedroom window fell out onto the neighbour’s property!’
Structurally, only one internal wall between the kitchen and living space was removed in the eventual renovation, but numerous other updates were made. ‘All other internal wall paneling was taken down, the framing checked for termite damage, then all put back together as we found it – but with insulation,’ Amelia says. ‘We replaced all the cedar wall panelling, and actually added more as I love it so much, it brings so much warmth to the house.’
All the original joinery was reused and refurbished, as required, throughout this process. ‘We did not throw one piece out, which I am very proud of,’ Amelia says. They built it to last back then, and it is all so functional.’ Amelia also notes the huge contribution of her ‘absolutely brilliant builder’, Jacob Vorias from Vorcon Constructions.
In terms of colour, Amelia was careful not to whitewash the home, instead introducing shades similar to the original scheme. ‘I couldn’t tell you how many people tried to talk me into painting over the mission brown!’ she says. ‘There was no way I was going to get rid of the mission brown – it’s part of the era. As a designer I had to make it work and I think I was successful in doing this. Everyone now loves them.’
Amelia’s carpet and tile selections also share this mid-century flavour, encompassing terrazzo and geometric patterns, blue mosaics, green kit kats and green carpet in the main bedroom. ‘It was always going to be green carpet, and there are no regrets,’ Amelia says.
Tying everything together is Dulux Lexicon Quarter used throughout the house, and the original brown, touched up with – you guessed it – Dulux Mission Brown!
Not only does the architecture of this property feel like a step back in time, so does the neighbourhood. The couple were initially hesitant to move to the North Shore after years in Sydney’s inner-west, but quickly grew to love the lifestyle this has afforded their children. ‘The house is in a cul-de-sac, so our kids have a real 1980s childhood… Out on the street on their bikes, and running from house to house visiting friends,’ Amelia says. ‘We now love leafy Lindfield. All our friends south of the bridge said they’d never visit us. They all do!’
Special thanks to our new Sydney team, photographer Jacqui Turk and stylist Jono Fleming, for capturing this very special mid-century gem!

Interior Design Ideas: Modern Coastal Shingle Home
Built by my friends at Patterson Custom Homes (previously featured here & here), architecture by Brandon Architects, Inc., interiors by Lindye Galloway Interiors and photography by Chad Mellon Photography, this home will allow you to leave the blog feeling inspired. The interiors have a modern coastal approach and if you are crazy about pillows as much as I am, you will love this house tour because this place features many beautiful pillow combinations that you could replicate in your own home!
Taking inspiration from East Coast Traditional and Shingle style architecture, this home blends some more contemporary and modern features such as the open layout/floor plan and steel doors and windows at the entry. Another powerful feature of the design is the double height volume between the courtyard and the kitchen/second floor walk to the master. This helps provide more light and volume. Other features include exterior trellis shade structures, tall vaulted ceilings, and a stained blue shingle finish with white trim that adds to the richness in detail and design of the home.
Find a comfy spot, pin your favorite pictures and dream away…

Stunning Hardwood Floor Ideas To Make Your Place Majestic
Looking to remodel your home? There are a lot of ideas and options that you might take into consideration for your floor renovations. You may even contact a flooring contractor to get an idea of different flooring options.
Among the ever-increasing variety of flooring options, one such flooring that takes precedence amongst others in its appeal is the hardwood floor. Bringing the natural element to your place, hardwood floors are the most regarded as the top quality flooring option for interiors.
The market has been filled with substitutes that are present at low costs. However, the appeal of hardwood stays on the top, and so is its cost. Here are some of the trending and affordable hardwood flooring options that will enrich your place with a mesmerizing ambiance:
1. Brown Walnut
If you want to have a sleek natural look for your indoors, try moving away from the regular shades, and give a try to this trending design. This floor design comprises of wood tones similar to that of a walnut. The gravitating appeal of the floor gives a cool impression, which makes it a compelling option.
2. Unstained Oak
Another addition to the wooden textured flooring is unstained oak. Not only does this floor brings you an organic and raw look but it creates a mesmerizing appeal that gives off a natural shine. Moreover, the different layers of the floor create a foundation of different colors that gives off an alluring look, which stained oak is unable to provide. Overall, it’s an amazing choice to be added to larger interiors.
3. Soft Hued Oak
A masterpiece in itself, soft-hued oak flooring is something that brings out a creative combination of style and luxurious materials. One of the compelling features about this floor is that it brings a vibrant essence in the overall room that can be elevated with the help of sleek interior finishing, sculptural décor, and warming furniture that would create a contrast with the floor.
4. Grey Tone
If we move from the traditional wood tones to different shades, we got a number of floor tones that can be taken into consideration for interiors. Grey tone wood flooring is one such tone that has made quite a name in the market. One of the most common uses of grey tone flooring is for the cabinetry area. If you want, you can place this floor in the cabinet section of your home. The essence of the floor is elevated with both stained and unstained tones. Create a different look for your interiors with this tone.
5. Patterned Oak
Another addition to the natural appeal for your residential and commercial appeal is the natural patterned oak floor. As evident from the name, this type of flooring has alternating planks with natural wood patterns that can be installed for home as well as office interiors. Another interesting feature about patterned oak flooring is its variety of options, including pentagon and triangular shapes instead of wooden planks. Magnify the view of your profile with these options.
6. European White Oak
If you want a calm, serene atmosphere in your room, then this flooring option is definitely the thing for you. One of the favorites of many customers, the European white oak floor gives a calm appeal that can set the mood for a nice evening. Since it provides a lighter shade, you can easily use this with white or creamed backgrounds and add wooden furniture or dark shade sofas. If you’re a book lover, you can easily install a hanging chair, and get comfy in the corner.
7. Charcoal
Most of the people are a fan of light shade flooring. However, for some enthusiasts, the dark charcoal floor is the perfect option to choose from. The amazing shade and tone of the charcoal are attained by mixing multiple Minwax stains that create that hue needed for the flooring. In addition, some other compelling and jaw dropping shades, include ebony and dark walnut touch, which can also be considered for the attraction.
8. Dark Painted Hardwood
In similar contrast, the dark painted hardwood floors are another compelling option that one can consider for the interiors. This is one of the ways for creating the dark flooring design of your choice. The easy to do painting can be used for creating a mesmerizing look for your interiors, especially when you have a theme to set. The dark combination is really great to set with a white themed interior, whether it’s for residential or commercial.
9. Graphite
Not to compare here, but graphite hardwood flooring is something that would fulfill your demand for a dark hued floor. Complete graphite flooring would help bring out a dark stain, and white interiors would be a complement to the floor. If you want, you can also opt for dark brown graphite shade that can be used to bring out the appeal you want for your interiors. Choose what you want for your interiors, and create a mesmerizing finish.
10. Fresh Grey
Not all greys can be used for dark tones. You can also choose a lighter shade of grey and bring out a modern look even with the common traditional flooring. Another compelling idea that makes grey a good option for flooring is its refreshing appeal that you can get with hardwood floor refinishing. This would create an alluring appeal worth the investment.
11. White Oak
Who isn’t a fan of a rift cut white oak that is accompanied by refinishing and sleek finesse? One of the most demanded flooring idea is because of the rich appeal that is guaranteed for its installation. The natural tone of the floor is the best choice when you want to choose to floor for an expansive space. Followed by windows in the background, it’s the perfect selection for living room, dining area, kitchen or lounge. If you’re up for it, white marble is the best option when you want to add the flooring in your kitchen.

A Greenwich Village Loft Gets a Makeover
A flexible, sunny space makes a happy home—and a good investment
It was brimming with potential: a corner, prewar loft on a main street in Greenwich Village. The apartment took full advantage of its southern and western exposures with oversized, industrial windows that wrapped around two sides of the loft. Much of the space was open-plan with 14-foot-high ceilings; a mezzanine above the kitchen is accessible via a charming spiral staircase and can be used as a guest bedroom or home office.
The homeowner saw an opportunity to add value to the apartment by taking advantage of its structural beauty and abundant natural light. The building was converted in the late ’70s from an industrial manufacturing space into residences and the unit had been relatively untouched since. Parquet wood tiles and warped cork would be replaced, and the decades-old kitchen and bath desperately needed a makeover. A few tweaks to the layout would also maximize the space to its full potential as an investment and a primary residence. He decided to go for it.
After purchasing the co-op apartment, the homeowner lived in it for six months before renovating. Modern finishes would be a more suitable backdrop to the gorgeous natural light that poured through the six oversized 10-foot windows. He also decided to use pocket and barn doors for a seamless look and flexible use of spaces. Enter Sweeten, a free service matching homeowners with vetted general contractors. The homeowner posted his project and was matched with a Sweeten design-build firm, and they got to work to fulfill the vision.
First, they ripped out the kitchen’s outdated Formica counters and ’70s-era cabinets, and completely gutted the old bathroom. The kitchen ceiling was cut away from the windows by about 18 inches to make more of the windows visible. An entryway closet was reduced so that the view from the kitchen window could be seen from the entrance of the apartment.
The floor on the mezzanine was also pulled back from the window and outfitted with a railing along its edge. The hardwood was repainted; the ceiling was scraped and painted, setting the stage for a guest bedroom, office, and additional closet storage.
The kitchen’s standout feature is the Carrara marble backsplash and 2-inch-thick countertops with a waterfall edge. Ikea cabinets with blue-gray fronts offset the white marble and are adorned with simple hardware in a satin nickel finish. On the peninsula side of the kitchen’s U-shaped counters, refrigerator and freezer drawers are tucked discreetly underneath to reduce visual clutter and maximize space efficiency. A stainless steel undermount sink is matched to an industrial faucet and sprayer.
On the side of the peninsula that faces the living room, the ledge of the counter was extended to create a space for bar seating with built-in 12-bottle wine storage as well.
In the bathroom, the homeowner chose to continue the marble theme with herringbone floors, a warm subway tile on the walls, and the same 2-inch-thick Carrara marble from the kitchen as a counter. With a frameless glass divider, the deep soaking tub does double duty for baths and showers. Three well-placed niches, including one inside the tub area, add storage for toiletries and small décor objects.
The bedroom, which benefits from one of the apartment’s enormous west-facing windows, was slightly reconfigured. The previous owners had installed floor-to-ceiling shelving with a library ladder, which was a good concept but needed to be scaled back. In its place, the Sweeten contractor built open shelving across the length of the room, keeping it within the overhead space so that it didn’t narrow the feel of the room. When its sliding doors are open, the space feeds into the living room for an open feeling. When the doors are closed, however, there is total privacy in the bedroom.
The bedroom closet, which was initially small and located inside the room, was relocated into a newly-created walk-in dressing room between the bedroom and bathroom. The homeowner wanted a closet with plenty of space on three walls for clothing and accessories. The design is perfect for couples, allowing one person to sleep peacefully while the other is getting ready for the day.
Throughout the apartment, the outdated flooring was replaced with natural white oak in 7-inch-wide planks. Sourced from Vermont, the new floorboards—long rift and quarter-sawn—show a “tigering” striped effect and are perfectly suited to the space, making a stylish first impression.
Mixing luxurious touches with economic ones, the Sweeten team was able to achieve the modern and fresh aesthetic that the homeowner imagined. What did he learn from his renovation experience? “Hire the right contractor and stay very close to the project. I feel like I made every micro decision, but it worked out! The unit looks great and I am a happy customer.”

The Basics of Decorative Hardwood Plywood for Cabinetry and Custom Furniture
If you're working on home renovations for the first time, you may be surprised at the number of options for some aspects of the process. One common choice some home-owners find overwhelming is the type of material to use on cabinets, custom furniture, engineered wood flooring, solid hardwood, etc. A popular choice for these projects is decorative plywood hardwood, which consists of a solid core laminated with decorative veneer. The various types of core and veneer material can make selection a bit confusing. If you're considering using decorative hardwood plywood in your renovations, these tips should help ease the process.
Choose a Core
There are a number of options available for the material used within the core of decorative hardwood plywood. There are even specific woods used for particular types of structures. But for basic indoor architecture needs, the options are Veneer Core, Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), Particleboard and Combi Core.
Veneer core is composed of thin strips of wood laminated together to form a solid core. Materials used for this type of core can vary depending on where the panels are made. In the United States, veneer core is often composed of White Fir, Douglass Fir, Ponderosa Pine or Poplar. Veneer is stronger than many other options, holds screws well and looks the closest to real wood. However, it is around 15% more expensive and often has variations in thickness.
One of the most popular options for core material is particleboard. Particleboard is the cheapest core type, features a smooth, uniform surface and thickness and can hold screws reasonably well. It is a bit heavier than veneer, and a typical panel can weigh around 90 - 100 pounds.
Medium Density Fiberboard, also known as MDF, is very similar to particleboard. Both materials are composites, meaning they are composed of fibers glued together to form the solid core. The main difference between MDF and particleboard is fiber size. Where particleboard uses larger wood fibers, MDF is composed of smaller, finer fibers. Like particleboard, it features a smooth uniform surface and reasonable screw hold, but it is heavy as well and a bit more expensive.
Finally, there is the option of Combi Core. This material is a sort of hybrid core, and it can be a little expensive, but it is lighter than the composite cores, which can make a significant difference in some situations.
Choose a Veneer
Once you've chosen a core for your decorative hardwood plywood, the next step is choosing a veneer to cover it. The most popular options for veneer species are Birch, Maple and Red Oak. These three woods are the most widely available and generally the least expensive.
However, there are other options, like Cherry and Walnut, which are pricier woods but offer a different quality and appearance. You can even choose some more exotic woods, opt for softwood options or even go with bamboo (which isn't actually wood at all!).
Choose a Cut
Aside from your choice of veneer wood, the cutting style you choose will make a difference in appearance as well. There are four ways to cut the veneer for decorative hardwood plywood. For some woods, like Red Oak and White Oak, you can most likely find what you need in any of the cut styles, but for other options, certain styles tend to look more pleasing than others.
One style of cutting is rotary style. Simply put, panels cut rotary style are cut in the same way you would peel paper towels from a roll. This style is the most environmentally friendly way to cut and can be used for most of the popular woods in decorative hardwood plywood.
The other types of cutting panels involve cutting from only a portion of the log, rather than the entire circumference. For instance, plain slicing consists of paring down the log, then taking slices from the top lengthwise. This method is more expensive and less environmentally friendly than rotary style, but many people prefer this due to aesthetics.
A step up from plain slicing, quarter slicing comes from taking the lengthwise slices from the edge of one quarter of the log. This produces a pattern like plain slicing, but it is worth nothing that there can be what's called flaking, which some find unappealing. If this is the case for you, opt for rift cutting, which is close to quarter slicing but with minimal flaking.
Choose a Shade
Finally, when deciding the composition of your veneer, note that there are two different shades of wood, based on the location within the tree. Wood in the center of the tree, called heartwood, has a darker appearance, like you'd see if you cut down a tree. Likewise, the outer layers of wood, called sapwood, are lighter. There is an extra charge to have either of these shades exclusively, and most panels include both colors of wood.
There are a number of other options for decorative hardwood plywood, and whatever your renovation, your contractor and designer should be able to provide guidance regarding the best choice for your space, but it will help to have some idea what they're talking about! Did you have similar questions during a recent renovation? We'd love to hear feedback from the other side of the table!

“The kitchen exterior wall included large windows on either side of the range. This light is perfect for any kitchen but it cut into the room for upper cabinets. To maximize the storage, we turned the cabinets sideways so they could be larger. When doing this we though we’d like to take off the doors and connect the cabinets by using an awning type apron. We could not be more pleased with how this turned out. We love the functionality of the open shelves and they still seem somewhat hidden by the bookcase design.” – Julie Howard – interior designer.

Traditional Farmhouse-style Home
It’s always a happy day when I have my dear friend Lisa Furey of Lisa Furey Interiors, on the blog! Lisa has been featured many times on Home Bunch and you might recall seeing her home here. In fact, that post became one of the most popular posts of the year!!!
