"Whispers of the Death Note: Tales from the Shadows."
Tumblr media
“The Death Note Curse: When Power Leads to Tragedy ”💀✍️
I’ve been fascinated by *Death Note* for as long as I can remember. Not just because of the idea of wielding life and death in your hands, but because of the eerie *inevitability* of it all. Everyone who uses the Death Note… is doomed. It’s like the moment they touch it, their fates are sealed, spiraling into tragedy. This is something that’s haunted me, especially when I think about how the show makes it seem like power is never as liberating as it appears.
So, I started to dig deeper into what I call "The Death Note Curse." Every user meets a tragic end. Let me walk you through the fates of some of our favorite characters.
*Light Yagami: The Fall of a God*
Tumblr media
Light Yagami was a genius, no doubt. At first, he used the Death Note with such cold precision. It was terrifying to watch him grow more detached from humanity, inching closer to his god complex. But Ryuk always warned him: “I will be the one to write your name in the Death Note.”
> ***Betrayed, exposed, and bleeding out in that cold, desolate warehouse... That moment still chills me.*** Light’s death wasn’t just physical—it was psychological. The worst part was, as he lay there, gasping for air, his mind seemed to go back to simpler times, like some kind of cruel irony. He wasn’t the god he thought he was. Just a scared, broken human in the end.
**That’s the real curse, isn’t it? Light’s ultimate tragedy wasn’t just death—it was the loss of everything he thought he stood for.**
### **L: The Puppet Cut Loose**
Tumblr media
Then there’s L. He was supposed to be untouchable, right? His mind was a fortress, his reasoning flawless, but even he couldn’t escape the inevitable. His death was so sudden, so quiet.
> ***As L fell from his chair, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of horror. There were no final words, no grand revelations—just eerie silence.***
> It wasn’t just the end of L’s life, but the end of everything he fought for. The curse didn’t just claim his body—it took his brilliance, his purpose.
The moment his eyes closed, the curse had won. It didn’t matter how smart he was—he was doomed from the moment he challenged the Death Note.
### **Misa Amane: The Puppet With Cut Strings**
Tumblr media
Misa’s story, though, always hit me differently. She wasn’t like Light or L. She didn’t crave power the same way, but she still got pulled into the Death Note’s curse. I can’t shake the image of her standing at the edge of that tower, her face smeared with black kajal, her eyes empty.
> ***Misa wasn’t jumping to escape—she was already dead long before her body hit the ground.***
> The moment Light died, Misa’s purpose crumbled. She had nothing left but the haunting void. **The curse took her, not through the Death Note directly, but by slowly draining her of the will to live.**
Her fate might have been quieter than Light’s, but it was just as devastating.
### **Ryuk: The Observer Who Feeds on Death**
Tumblr media
Then there’s Ryuk. The silent observer, always lurking. He warned Light from the start, didn’t he? “No one who writes in the Death Note escapes the curse.” He smirked as if it was all a game to him, but now I wonder… is Ryuk cursed too? Is that why he was so fascinated by human tragedy?
> ***Ryuk, more than anyone, understood the curse. Maybe that’s why he never intervened.*** He was bound to it, watching, waiting, until the final page was turned.
You know, *Death Note* has always been about more than just power or justice. It’s about the cost of wielding something that no one should control. **The Death Note doesn’t kill you in one swift stroke. It pulls you into darkness, takes everything from you, and when it’s ready… it finishes you off.**
“The last name it writes will always be your own.”
> ***And now the question lingers…***
“If you had the Death Note in your hands, would you dare to use it. Or would you too fall victim to the curse that claimed them all”

I really do think that we're sleeping on the fact that with mutant quirks you can make ur faves horrifying with some subtle additions, like aizawa flesh scarf or no nostril frog skin mic. anyways, new cursed quirk thing, midnight is part plant ala poison ivy and somnambolist is like. spores or pollen that puts people to sleep. Also hair is made of pine needles and she has a certain percentage of sap in her blood

It's been a while since I've made a cursed post, so without further ado,
The balding mic theory
It's a bold claim to make, considering that mic is known for his hair, but let's look at the evidence:
when mic was being created, horikoshi was going to make him an old, bald man. He decided to redesign mic, and came up with the loveable, younger design he has today. We dont know what mic will look like when he's old, but it would make sense for him to age into his original prototype's design, aka bald
this has been said to be a refrence to his original prototype, but it's worth noting that mics signature headphones have the word "HAGE" aka "bald" across the top. Now, while this could be an ironic fashion statement doubling as a refrence, it could also relate to what mic's future holds: male pattern baldness
Mic has led a stressful and tragic life. He lost one of his best friends as a teenager, has had to deal with the physical, mental, and emotional stress of hero work throughout his career, hes had to watch his other best friend nearly get killed, hes had a traitor to worry about, and his dead best friend was revealed to have been corpse snatched and frankensteined into a villain. I havent even mentioned the fact that he holds two other jobs, as well as whatever marketing and ranking aspects of the job(s) that he needs to worry about. Stress is known to cause hair loss, and mic has stress in spades
His infamous hair spike, earning him the title ive just made up right now, "banana king", could actually be his undoing, hair wise. Who knows what chemicals mic puts into his hair to get it to stand on end, nevermind any headcanons about dyeing/bleaching his hair that I've seen floating around. As much as we like to believe mic takes good care of his hair, the fact is that any good things mic does for his hair is to counteract the damage he puts his hair through. At best, a good haircare routine would neutralize the damage, and at worst it will do little to change his ultimate fate: being bald
Tumblr media
He's already been shown with a nonexistant hairline. While it's true that horikoshi could have forgotten to draw it in this panel, I'd like to note the level of detail this mic has. You can see the rings in his iris, the tension in his padded headphones, the texture of the mic on his speakers. What cant you see? His hairline.
To conclude:
Yamada Hizashi, aka Present Mic, is balding. He will experience male pattern baldness, he was originally designed as someone who was bald, and his life and style encourages hairloss. For all we know, mic is already bald: he could be wearing a wig, which in the above panel could be shown to be slipping off his bald, bald head. Mic will lose his hair with age, if he isnt losing his hair already. Men's hair can begin to thin in their early twenties, so it isnt the most unlikely thing to happen. For the above reasons, I believe mic will be bald.

Body swap fic except it's aizawa flesh scarf and frog mic style
Aizawa has to adjust to the loss of a limb, the loss of nostrils, and not only having eyes that arent constantly dry but also having skin that will also cry for u
Mic gets to feel what it's like to breathe normally!! A very educational experience!! He also gets to mess around with aizawas scarf, but it comes at a cost. Since mic is used to having a thin layer of mucus in his skin at all times, its difficult for him to feel aizawas dry skin and not freak out over it
They of course also have to adjust to each others quirks,,,,, but let's be real that's not what we're here for

Hey so I'm going to be making new tags for frog mic and flesh scarf... I'll keep the body horror tags on a few of the posts cause some of em involve stuff in that territory, but for more tame posts they will just have the basic au tags
I'm doing this bc as a friend pointed out last night, my body horror tag has some actual horror and gore and such, so I figure I should make seperate tags for the less gory and horror posts
The tag will be for both, as well as whatever else pops up, so if you dont want to see this content please block the tag #cursedtheories

Note
I've seen one thing that somehow is worse than flesh scarf. The scarf is a tapeworm type parasite that just comes out of his neck sometimes and shinsou has it too
anon im sry to burst ur bubble but I unfortunately am the one who made the “shinsou contracts aizawas tapeworm to get his weapon” textpost :( you’re speaking to the creator of that horrifying idea (unless someone else made and posted the idea and I didn’t know!! in which case its their idea, but im 99% sure that's me ur referring to)

he names it wormy, or mushikui in Japanese (should google translate be trusted at least hksfhs)
he doesn't really think about it but wormy is an actual word, not just a cute name for a worm, and when applied to a person means “weak or revolting”..... no one has the heart to tell him, and its not like the scarf will know, so the name holds up despite it being an insult in disguise
