The Devil

In tarot, the Devil (upright) represents the shadow and negative forces that hold you back from being the best version of yourself, you are trapped by short term pleasures which leads to long term pain. Healthy attachments can turn obsessive and co-dependent.

Reversed the Devil calls upon you to leave behind what is holding you back and to confront your fears that chain you down. It can tell you that you are hiding your darkest self from others.

two year ago, I drew mock tarot cards senior arcana for our party's Curse of Strahd campaign

in order of characters: rogue Jasper Cliff (Jasper), paladin of Bane Archaon, warlock Adrian Welt, cleric of Tyr Reina, cleric of Selune Cassima (mine, yeah), ranger Babette

Cassima was my first character to become a priest of Selune, and I later carried that over into BG3

The Judgement tarot card for my spirits bard, Valeriya. I'm having so much fun with her story and I'm not worried at all about how well romancing Ireena is going to go, or how her mentor will fare when they enter Barovia

My group does QOTW sections for our characters and one of them was “What Major Arcana would your character be” and while Kassius fits the reversed of many.. Devil suited him best 😂

Tarot card wip! The King of pentacles for a Curse of Strahd vampire Lord that might or might not become a very generous ally if it so benefits them. Fav detail is that they have a coin where their missing eyes should be, like half of his payment to Charon is already paid!! Pelican there as as symbol of sacrifice!! SYMBOLISM

I wanted a The Devil tarot piece for my pc Helene Stoneraven and Strahd von Zarovich, with the 'devil' being Vampyr and her having a much more present antagonism in our campaign and influencing Strahd's decisions.

Helene and Strahd are hopelessly in love, both want to free Barovia, but Helene knows his way will only end in tragedy and a repetitive cycle. So they're at odds, but they often let their lust and love for each other distract them from their tasks (which Vampyr flares up)

Finished Curse of Stradh. I Get It (tm) now. anyways heres Solas, my lil light cleric (who multicalssed into a hexblade warlock). We lost him at the last session but at least he achieved martydom? idk man im still not over his death </3

My Vampire takes the form of the 7 of Coins, The Thief. What is being stolen? Time, energy, and focus. There are a few things that my mind has been too focused on and that has left me out of balance with everything else. Kind of like when you realize you've been neglecting something and you go to course correct and end leaning to far into that direction and screw everything else up.

Next is the Vampire's Presence, the allure that trapped me in it's gaze. The 4 of Glyphs, The Shepherd. I was led into thinking that if more people felt this way, and they also said to take a break and focus on myself then there couldn't be a problem, right? But 'self-care' can sometimes be disguised as over-Indulgence. Everyone talks about taking time for yourself but there are times when it can be detriment to actual progress, case in point with-

Auspex, the unseen damage, 3 of Glyphs The Healer. We see where I am now, out of whack, and trying to fix the internal. Our Healer tries to clear our pathways but there is a blockage that must be confronted.

4 of Stars The Abjurer, is what will slay this beast. Boundaries. My main problem. It's been slow work learning to say yes and no or to give myself limits so I don't overdue or overextend. But it's the lesson that keeps on repeating and once I understand it, finally, I can actually live properly.

The Master of Stars, The Wizard. My Dawn is study, understanding, and educating myself more. Not just with the mundane solutions but also with some more...esoteric ones as well. I'm reminded of drag superstar and witch, Jinx Monsoon. Once on the podcast, The Witch Wave, she mentioned that when she cast a spell to helped with something that she was concerned or worried about, once it was cast she stopped thinking about it. I wonder if besides the regular shadow work I could focus on using magic as a way to help draw boundaries for myself? Something to think about.

Frank Victenstein as the moon

the moon can reveal deep fears and anxieties, and symbolises how it can be difficult to tell the difference between reality and an illusion. this very much fits into frank's characterisation, most of the time they had disguise self up (thanks to a little gift from strahd, which he got from rictavo) because they could not handle how they looked. they crafted an illusion of being aloof and apathetic, however, deeply craved genuine affection from others, to the point they were willing to betray their party/allies, in order to gain strahd's affection.
