Hi, I just saw your list of things that you had overcome your fear of. First of all, that's an incredible list, and it's awesome that you have conquered so many fears. I have a severe fear of needles, and was wondering what, if anything, you did to get over this fear? Mine is so bad that I have to take large doses of Xanax or lorazepam before I can do anything involving hypodermic needles. I've gone into hysterics just discussing having to get blood work done with a doctor. Thank you!

gosh.. I... wish I had a better answer for you. After my mama got diagnosed with cancer and started deteriorating, and being around medical stuff all the damn time, something in my brain kinda just switched, and a weird sort of uncaring came into place. Along with the constant thought of “if my mama can go through all that, I can do this” and yeah. 

So.. I guess. exposure. I know that’s the worst and no one wants to hear that, but exposure is the best way to get over a fear/anxiety.

Hello! I have a friend who's just starting out in tarot. And she was super excited, and went out and bought her first deck herself. Another friend of hers told her that she shouldn't have done that, and that the deck would be tainted, because your first deck needed to be a gift from someone (that friend had even been refused at a shop when she said that she was buying her first deck). So I guess my question is, is it important how you get your first deck?

The roots of that superstition are based in a time when secret societies wanted to keep the uninitiated out.  Also, tarot decks were kind of hard to come by before modern printing advancements.

What's going to taint a brand new deck of cards?  They're paper and ink, wrapped in plastic.  If anything, you have to be sure a used deck that you're given doesn't have any nasties lingering with it (which hasn't been my experience, and is probably very uncommon, but I've had friends who've told me it's happened to them).

It's nice to be gifted your first deck, sure, but it's not necessary.  Many of us would have never started reading tarot if not for our own initiative.  So tell your friend not to worry!  And wish her well on her new journey!
