Sixteenth Day Event Prompt:

Niki & Tommy - Trident

"Woah, what enchantments do you have on that?" Tommy asks.

Niki startles from where she was sitting- where she thought she was completely alone, "What- what are you doing here, Tommy?"

Tommy ignores her question, nodding to the trident in her hands, "Does it have riptide?"

Niki fumbles with her trident, clumsily for a moment trying to hide it behind her before laughing and holding it up, "This? Oh, I haven't put anything on it yet. I need more levels before I can. But I'm planning on putting loyalty and channeling on it, so no riptide."

"Lame," Tommy scoffs, "riptide is the much cooler enchant. The coolest of them all."

Niki's smile becomes strained, "It's also useless in a fight. Shooting someone with lighting multiple times in a row is much more effective than- than riptide."

Every assassination attempt Niki and Jack has tried on Tommy has failed. Tnt canons, explosive minecarts, arrows in dispensers, the nuke test- so for their newest plan, Niki fought off dozens of drowned before one dropped a trident for her.

Of course, now the object of her resentment has found her with her trident before Niki has even gotten a chance to repair it.

"Hey, want to hear a funny story?" Tommy asks, and before Niki can decline, he continues speaking, "Back in exi- back when I was away from New L'Manberg, things were so boring. I was constantly bored and tired, but the thing that brought me the most joy back then was… a riptide trident. Niki, trust me, the moment you soar over the clouds- that's true freedom. With the rain pelting your face, breaking through the clouds, the sun finally shining on you, and then the freefall."

"Sounds dangerous if you hit the ground too hard."

"You gotta be careful, eh? So why not give in a try, I think you would enjoy it a lot."

"... Maybe with another trident. I have something I need to get done with this one," Niki slowly points the trident at Tommy.

Tommy smiles, oblivious as ever, "Okay, but make sure you don't forget!"
