I’ve had a ctommy for years and we’ve never had any problems until a new neighbour moved in with a cdream. Ever since dream figured out I have a tommy in my house he’s been trying to get in to see him. Tommy, naturally, is absolutely terrified (and honestly I am too ever since I went downstairs one night to get a glass of water one night and I found dream in my kitchen trying to pick up one of my kitchen knives. I trapped him under a bowl). I roped my father into helping me build what’s essentially an impenetrable wooden fortress for him and I’ve taken every precaution I can think of to prevent dream from getting in. Unfortunately, there’s only so much I can do, since I don’t think the landlord would be happy if I tried to do anything too extreme.

I’ve talked to my neighbour, of course, but she doesn’t see anything wrong with what’s going on. To be fair she’s probably pretty neglectful if she’s letting her dream get loose so often. She told me that if I just let the two interact tommy would stop being so nervous. I had to hold myself back from slapping her. Everyone knows you’re not supposed to keep those two together and my tommy in particular has had some bad experiences with a dream.

I’m not giving Tommy up, that wouldn’t be good for either of us. Like I said, my Tommy’s been through some rough times and it took me a long while to get him to trust me and now that he does he’s clingy as hell. He doesn’t trust easily and wouldn’t do well being with someone else, plus it would break his heart to be separated from me. And as for me, Tommy’s helped me through mental illness. We have a really strong bond and neither of us could bear to be separated.

I’m seriously considering moving, but it’s a long process and finding somewhere as nice as this with reasonable rent is near impossible. Plus id be moving away from some very close friends, one of which has a cwilbur and cranboo that tommy enjoys spends time with several times a week, which is on,t a reasonable arrangement since the two of us share an apartment building. I’ve also thought of getting a ctechno (dw i have the resources to look after one) as they’re known to be pretty strong and protective, but I’m worried about introducing the two with my tommy already so distrustful and on edge.

Is there any advice you’d have? This is a fucking awful situation and I just don’t know what to do

It was like. Actual for real hell on earth to watch actual Tommy log into minecraft on twitch every day or almost every day and get worse and worse, like watching a real life mental spiral from the physical, emotional, verbal, and mental abuse from c!Dream

And cTommy is. like. a messy teenage boy. right? like he's a 15/16 year old, 17 by the end I think, and he's loud and annoying and pushy and thinks saying the word pussy a lot is the HEIGHT of humor.

so after exile ends, even if you don't take the cTechno stuff into account, he's very clearly fucked up, but doesn't know how to communicate it. I think the very best he was ever able to verbalise it was "My brain feels like I'm fuckin conditioned me to be your friend" (to cDream)

so whenever people bring up exile, or bring up Dream, he redirects. he zones out, he breathes a little quicker, he changes the subject, he gets louder, or jumps straight to ass/pussy humor to force the end of this line of conversation

so cDream is loose and looking for him after exile and after the confrontation. cBad thinks he's annoying, thinks that because Tommy and Dream fight all the time, and he's on Dream's side automatically because of their history, Tommy is the problem. (Also he was immune to the egg's mind control and that was a Problem but we can't get too into egg arc I'll get distracted)

cPhil didn't really take his concerns seriously at all. Like he tells him hey just be brave m8 youve got this I believe in you o/, and thats all. cTubbo knows that if cTommy hadnt acted out (which cDream baited him into doing), he wouldn't have been forced to pick between L'Manberg and Tommy's exile.

cRanboo saw the extent of the damage from exile, but Ranboo "Memory Loss Boy" Beloved is no help with recounting this to anyone else, and Ranboo "Famous Centrist Boy" Beloved backs down from any confrontation about it with like "oh i see mhm mhm" and shuts up

cTommy never really opened up directly to cTechno about exile, so all he knows is that Tommy was helpless and had nowhere to go, Techno took him in, and Tommy took Tubbo's side at the last second when they were cornered. Ouch, understandable, but also cTechno did directly lie to him about wanting to destroy L'Manberg in the end, so. You know. Those irreconcilable differences or whatever.

Characters that got pushed more into the background, like Sapnap or Karl or Eret, also didn't see what happened, or were predisposed to taking cDream's side (being his friend for a long time, memory loss, having already been a victim of his manipulation, etc)

cQuackity knew what happened in general, because cDream told cSam, and Sam told Quackity, but Quackity's quest for the revive book clouded his judgement on how much of what he was doing was for Tommy, and how much of it was greed or a power grab

cSam's desperation to keep Tommy safe ended up backfiring TERRIBLY, and him allowing Quackity to torture Dream (which he only allowed in an attempt to avenge Tommy in some way) is in the end what spurred Dream to call on his favor with Techno to break him out

And cJack knew this, and cNiki knew this, and they both blamed Tommy directly, and. it was a whole mess. The entire thing was a mess of "well if he hadn't burned down George's house-" (accident) "If he hadn't spoken out of turn at the hearing-" (Dream baited him into this) "If he just listened to Dream in exile-" (abuse and multiple suicidal ideations/attempts)

I think he was a FANTASTIC display of an abuse victim who isn't a perfect victim. In movies and shows the victim is quiet or withdrawn or apologetic and needs coddling, but cTommy rejected all of that and was meaner or more annoying as a defense mechanism, and didn't want any coddling or sympathy (which he saw as obligatory pity), and it was unpleasant. Because sometimes trauma makes you unpleasant.

Defending him from:

People who agreed that he was too much and needed to be gotten rid of

People who said that the exile and abuse was deserved

People who thought he was the "wrong kind" of victim

People who blamed him for all the problems or drama on the server

was like a full time job for a couple months
