no because he gets so embarrassed about how flustered he gets, he finds it off putting because he’s 27 years old and can barely get through a conversation when you press a kiss to his cheek. or when you slyly hold his hand under than table. he gets red so easily because he missed all this moments when he was a teenager, he’s playing catch up now in his mid twenties. it’s honestly cute seeing his brain stop working and how fast his cheeks turn red, he tries to turn away from you but it’s so obvious.

he’s so clingy in a relationship once he knows you are safe and trusted, oh my god he will never let you go. he always wants to spend time with you, he hates when you have to go back to your apartment. he will whine but gets to nervous to ask you to move in with him (at least not until after a year and a half after y’all start dating). will legit call you up to go to the store with him, just to spend time with you.

Christmas time was always a dull holiday in your household. Ran worked all the time and would only arrive at night with an expensive gift he asked someone to buy. You were left alone the whole holiday season and lately you only got to see Ran when he arrived home and immediately fell asleep, the next day waking up to an empty bed. You knew what you were getting into when you started dating Ran. You don’t remember a time where you spent holidays with him but as your relationship gets serious and you get older, moments like this are important.

It was 2:50 am on December 24th when Ran arrived home. You were in your bedroom waiting for your fiancé to arrive home, like you waited every other night. It started when Ran was shot a few years ago and you were asleep after a long day of work. You didn’t answer the phone and only found out about it the day after when you woke up. Since then, you promised to stay awake until you were sure Ran was safe.

“Welcome home.” you say when Ran walks through the bedroom door.

Ran falls on the bed murmuring a “hey baby”. You look at him, suit still on and visible bags under his eyes. His hair was all messy and everything about Ran screamed tired. You turn around to face him, your hand caressing his face from his jawline to his nose and lips.

“You should take some days off.” you start. “You’re overworking yourself.”

“Can’t. Mikey needs us.” he replies and you roll your eyes.

“It’s Christmas tomorrow and you’re never home. Can’t he let you stay home? Just one day.”

He moves to lay his head on your chest. “You know I can’t.”

“But you never try! We’ve been together for years and never spent Christmas together. Or New Year. Or even birthdays. You’re always working.” you complain but still move your hand to play with his hair.

Ran sighs. “I’ll talk to him tomorrow and ask to spend the 25th with you.” he can almost feel the happiness radiate from you.

“Thank you. Now go change so we can sleep.”

A You spend the whole day anxious. You were ready to run to the bonten hideout and beg Mikey to let Ran stay home but soon realized it wasn’t the best decision. So you settle for going to the supermarket down the street and buy the ingredients necessary to make cookies and dinner for the next day. Whether Ran was going to be home or not, you wanted to cook something to keep yourself entertained so you wouldn’t think about how your fiancé is risking his life instead of spending Christmas with you.

When you hear the front door opening you practically run to meet him. He’s taking off his shoes when he notices you standing in front of him, almost jumping in excitement.

“What did he say?” you ask.

Ran laughs and opens his arms so you can hug him. You immediately jump on him.

“He agreed on letting me stay home tomorrow.” you hug him tighter. “But…”

“What did you do Haitani?”

“I might have told him that everyone could have dinner with us tomorrow night…” you look at him, sensing that he had more to say. “And on New Years.”

You sigh. “Well I’m glad I bought enough food. Let’s go to bed baby. We have a big day tomorrow.” you say pulling him.

“Do you think I deserve an award? I risked my life to ask Mikey about it.” he says with a smug smile on his face.

“We’ll see.”

You never thought you would see Ran Haitani, a bonten executive, struggle with making cookies. He was wearing sweatpants and a Christmas sweater you forced him to wear.

“That’s enough flour Ran.” he nods and his hair falls on his eyes.

You quickly run to your bedroom looking for a hair band. When you go back to the kitchen, you see Ran carefully mixing the cookie dough, with his tongue out in concentration. You pull him so he can face you and put the hair band on his head so his hair doesn’t keep moving. Ran forgets the dough and pulls you for a kiss.

“The cookies Ran.” you say against his lips.

Ran ignores you and pushes you against the counter to deepen the kiss. You push him away before things go further and Ran pouts before going back to the cookies.

If seeing Ran struggling with the baking part was funny, Ran trying to decorate them was even better. His hand is shaking a little while holding the piping bag. He made his personal goal to make the prettiest cookie for you and he was committed to it. He ordered you to go to the other side of the kitchen or you would distract him too much. You focus on your tasks while Ran decorates the cookies.

A couple of minutes later, you feel his chest on your back while his hands hold a cookie in front of you.

“What do you think?”

It was the most cliché cookie ever. It was a heart shaped cookie with your initials on it and a couple of stars around it. Still you hugged him, kissing him repeatedly.

“It’s beautiful. Thank you.”

Spending this day with Ran made you remember just how much you love him. Even if you have to make some sacrifices, at the end of the day everything is worth it. And when his friends sat down at the table later that day, each with a carefully thought gift to give you, you realize that they’re like a family. One that you happily will join.
