Random triva change I noticed: So in the book, Shays clique consists of her, Astrix, Croy, Zane and Ho.

As they choose to run away, Astrix and Croy end up actually doing it, Zane, Ho and Shay bail, and Zane and Ho become Pretties, and Shay is still stuck on the other side of the river due to her birthday.

Ho isn't in the movie, but instead Ryde is, who in the book is from another city.

Probably to limit the number of characters? Ho only becomes important again in the later books as Shay recruits him into her cult, so it is more efficient to show Ryde right from the beginning instead of only later in the Smoke.
