Yesterday's Conditioning... 4 Rounds for Total Reps - 1min Max Calorie Row 1min Max Rep Power Snatch (135lbs) 1min Max Rep Burpees *Rest 2min b/t Rounds. ------------------------------------------------ Snatches felt great yesterday. Managed to get 11-12 per round and did touch and go for most of them. Had Deadlift, Bench Press, and Accessory work before that. Then some RomWOD in the evening. Best job I've ever had. I love to train and chase improvement... but, PR's hit by members will always get me more fired up and excited. Nothing compares to watching someone overcome a fear, obstacle, or task that they simply didn't think they could handle. Watching someone finish a workout, knowing they did it, will always make me smile. Whatever you do, throw yourself into that entirely. Study. Work at it every single day. Don't settle for being mediocre at what you do. Don't fucking settle for less than. Always strive for more. Learn more. Understand more. Be better prepared. Be ready. Challenge yourself and find those that push you to be better. They day you start slacking is the day you've stopped caring. People deserve better than that. Give it to them. I wake up everyday and love what I do. Being a Coach is the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Being called "Coach" is the most rewarding title I've ever held. I'm thankful every single day for every member of CrossFit Thunder and the trust they put in me. I am thankful everyday for the folks who trust me with their Strength Programming. You all push me to learn more, train harder, and be better. I am constantly humbled by the heart and determination you all exude. The feeling of watching someone achieve a feat they never thought they would or could? There aren't words for it. I love the challenge that Coaching provides. This job is not an easy one and anyone that thinks that it is has never paid close enough attention to the details of the work. There is nothing I'd rather do with my life. Period. ------------------------------------------------- What do you want to do? What do you love? Go do it. I don't know about you, but I've got one soul. I ain't gonna coast through. Turns out it's my four year anniversary with CrossFit. I'll go back a little further with this post though. I started working out the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of high school. If you can believe it, I'd lost a considerable amount of weight in those first two pictures. I refused to have my photo taken when I was at my heaviest. I'd duck out of group shots or wander off to the bathroom. I went from 408lbs down to 185lbs. I overshot by quite a bit. 185lbs is far too light. I was too small for my build and height. I couldn't really do anything. I was always tired. Always fatigued. Couldn't train. Couldn't recover. Couldn't lift anything worth a damn. Couldn't get through a MetCon without genuinely being on the verge of passing out. Losing that much weight can make you scared to gain anything back. It took me a long time to understand that my value is not determined by the scale and that food is not the enemy. The scale will steal progress away from me every single time. How do I feel? I do I perform? Are my lifts going up? How's my engine feeling? These are the markers I follow and listen to. Nowadays, I'm the strongest, healthiest, fastest, and best athlete I've ever been (and I am still very, very average). And funnily enough, I weigh the same I did when I showed up for my first day of CrossFit: 211lbs. I don't care how cliche it is, when people ask what's the best decision I've ever made is, I always tell them, "Starting CrossFit and getting healthy." I'm a very quiet person, but my goals are loud. The hard part is over. I've lost the weight. I've regained my health. Nowadays? This is the fun part. I still have an incredibly long way to go, but I'm a workhorse and I'm addicted to the process of getting better, stronger, and faster. Go get to training, man. Find what you want and work your ass off for it.
