Went out to a local yarn store and got some actually nice yarn to make a granny square blanket! It’s 3in instead of 4in so my size preparations are a tiny bit off, but on man I am good with that because working with nice yarn is such a nice upgrade(from cheap acrylic that frays at any point to nice tanguis cotton, mwah!)

Damn... I really don’t think most people understand just how expensive hand-made clothing actually is. If you’re accustomed to fast fashion the idea of paying more than like 50 dollars for a knitted poncho might seem absurd, but even if I go the cheaper quality route to get the necessary skeins of yarn it’s still over 200 dollars just for the material (it’s... a lot of skeins of yarn for a poncho). And that’s before all the hours of labour that it’ll take to make the poncho. If I charged for it, it’d be WAY more than 50 dollars just to break even. I don’t charge though, I make things for myself and gifts for others - but just buying the yarn now I cringed a bit at the price and I really feel for all you artisans who sell your finished products and have people complain about the price.

Crocheted a wallet for my partner; it's finally done and gifted so I can post it.

The main body of the wallet is suffolk dyed with horse chestnut (it's leftover yarn from when I made my gloves), and the coin pouch flap is millspun wool; I cut it from the first warping test on my 4 shaft loom. The button is a sheep foot bone I got at the last wool sale I went to. It's sewn together largely with linen, but the rest is handspun scrap yarn, some of which is naturally dyed and some is not.

Very happy with it so far, although I'm sure there are adjustments I'll want to make.

Next project attempt: pie bag. Going at it without any proper plan, just freehanding lol already looks pretty cute tho :3

if you know you're going to be crocheting later in the day, you can tuck the crochet hook against your skin (I put it in my bra, have a friend who tucks it into her waistband at the small of her back) and have it warm up that way

That's a good idea, I just so happen to be a very... messy person who just leaves my hooks in the middle of projects. I'm crocheting a hook holder as a stand-in, though because my other hooks are.... laying on my nightstand loose 💀

As you can see the anxiety is attacking me. So now I am nesting.

I don't know what that urge is but it's a thing I guess. They must be fed, watered, and tucked in. And sometimes they cry but that's okay because it's okay for them to cry. Because crying is a natural body response.
